She berated me for not having x-ray's, explained when I made the appointment no one said I needed them for cleaning. She continue to question me like I was trying to get away with something. How she should have said sorry we'll call your Dentist and get x-ray's we didn't look at your 14 page that had all that information or we will make another appointment. Best yet I sent 2 other people there 1 needs a lot of work the other just needs cleaning which on phone was told to bring x-rays. We were all changing because they took our insurance. Oh, just got a letter from them misspellings dirty page told they do not want me as a patient signed by the DR. He has no clue how is staff treat patience. LOL

Call 2: Approximately 2pm the same day. The phone is answered by a woman who talks to me for about 15 seconds, and then puts me on hold. 11 minutes and 33 seconds pass. I hang up. I am now pissed and decide to Yelp my lovely experience. Dear Dr. Hamel, You may be a lovely dentist, but you need to teach your staff how to handle phone calls. But today me and my lovely wife were very impressed with Dr. Hamel's office. Just go...you will not regret it. I have been to a few dentist in the Poconos, and not one tops Dr. Hamel and her staff. I was greeted by a very professional and friendly receptionist named Maureen. Shortly after I was called to the back by Dental Hygienist (Mindy) who took my x-rays and did a cleaning. I have been to many dentist in my life, I have to tell you Mindy is an artist with her hands and dental tools. I have to also mention another Dental Hygienist (Sandy) that took care of my wife. Both Sandy and Mindy were true professionals and are very good with their tools. Dr. Hamel..so gentle and honest. Integrity and trust is paramount when choosing a dentist. She examined me, addressed all my concerns and explained a needed procedure very well. Make an appointment and see for yourself. I only have on MAJOR complaint - not going to this dentist before today. I have lived very near to the Doctors office and it took me 10 years to get into the office (my fault). Don't make the same mistake as me and go see Dr. Hamel for your next dental visit. Thank you Dr. Hamel, Mindy, Sandy and Maureen. So I tell them any time after 3 on any day. Nothing open until April. So they change their hours and now I have to wait six months? Maybe take care of the appointments you have before you change your hours of operation. She didn't even care that I won't be their customer anymore.

I had been to my old dentist twice already because of pain on one side of my mouth. He took x-rays and examined me both times, but could never find anything. So I mentioned the pain to Dr. Wert. It took him five minutes to see what was wrong. He gently tapped on a couple of teeth--no pain--and then when he tapped on the third one it was clear he'd found the source of the pain. I had a crown on that tooth, and Dr. Wirt told me there was infection under the crown. He would have to remove it and clear out the infection. I was so relieved to know what was causing the pain, and that it could be fixed. I'm so glad he opened an office in Hellertown. Oh, and the office staff was very pleasant and helpful too.

The front desk was so kind and sweet. Waiting room relaxing and you can't hear the drilling that makes me break out into a sweat and want to run. The Assistant and Dr Kandl listened to me.....every word and fear. They spent time with me and did not do anything until I was ready. Their demeanor and patience has made me a patient of theirs for life. I don't even get anxious anymore for teeth cleaning. THANK YOU! I had been a loyal patient of my previous dentist for over 30 years and never once had an issue…read morewith billing or unexpected charges. When he retired, I was referred to the new dentist who took over the practice. I had no existing relationship or loyalty to this new provider, and I was extremely clear from the start: I am out-of-network with United Concordia, I have never paid out-of-pocket for dental care, and I was not willing to start now. I told them directly that if they didn't take my insurance, I would go elsewhere. I asked multiple times before the appointment if I would be charged, and I was repeatedly assured that I would not. I was told they do this all the time, that a form would be submitted to my insurance provider, and that everything would be handled -- no worries. Now, I've been billed $350. When I followed up, they admitted they were unfamiliar with the various United Concordia plans and were unprepared for the volume of patients after taking over the practice. In other words, they gave me false information and are now walking it back with excuses. Their response was essentially: "We're being more careful now," which offers no resolution or accountability to the patients already affected by their mistake. This situation was entirely avoidable. I was proactive, transparent, and clear about my insurance and my expectations. They gave me misleading information, and now I'm left with a bill I never agreed to -- one I would have avoided had I received honest communication. This behavior is unethical. It's a complete lack of accountability and professionalism, and I find it unacceptable. I will be disputing this charge with the appropriate authorities and reporting the incident as necessary. I strongly advise others to get every assurance from this office in writing. Based on my experience, I would not trust their word.
