During these past 12 years (and various referrals), I have never had a single complaint about Dr. Raiber or his office staff. He is a quick, efficient and (most importantly) honest dentist. There are other dentists in NYC that will try to cheat you (and your insurance company) by suggesting unnecessary procedures (cavities, root canals, etc.). Dr. Raiber is not one of these dentists! He is very honest and has never done anything to me or my friends/family to suggest otherwise. Dr. Raiber's office staff is great too. Appointments always run on time, there are never any scheduling issues, and I have never had a billing issue. I have been lucky in that I have not needed any procedures other than standard bi-annual checkup and cleaning, so I cannot comment on Dr. Raiber's performance in other procedures. However, my friends have said that he performs other procedures well and with minimal pain. The only downside is that Dr. Raiber does not accept my current insurance (Oxford Dental), so I will have to find a new dentist until Oxford decides to add Dr. Raiber to its plan.

My son…read morewas never able to see the same dentist, in spite of the fact that we came to the practice to see one dentist specifically, and we were never told who we would see and never introduced to the people who were the techs or the dentist. I was never able to meet the dentist or discuss my child's care with that person. We were told that braces were far off in the future (for my 12-year-old--we finally went to get another opinion from an orthodontist in a different practice and got him braces). In addition, I was asked at every single visit (ever 6 months) to authorize x-rays, when we are well aware that this is both unnecessary in terms of dental care, and risky in terms of a child's personal health and exposure to excessive radiation. Finally, the straw that broke the camel's back came earlier this year when my son, who has a relatively healthy set of teeth (no cavities) and good dental care for a tween with braces, was told in an appointment that unless he started actually brushing and doing it right his teeth "would turn black and fall out of his head" and that he wouldn't be allowed back. He came out of the office in tears. Frankly, that kind of attitude is never acceptable, even in a joking manner. The comment was confirmed by the hygienist/tech in person, and he was apparently serious--he didn't deny it. If this is the way that members of the team inspire young people to be responsible for their dental care, they do a really bad job. When I sent them a letter (I was too upset to call to discuss) via email, I received absolutely NO response. NONE. It took a full two weeks for a member of the staff to respond to my email, and only after that did the dentist overseeing my son's care (not the dentist who he ever saw, mind you), Dr. Markel, actually called. I was too angry to actually speak with him. There was no attempt made to apologize, just to rationalize the behavior of the tech. Fast forward six months. I have requested my son's dental records to send to his new dentist and the office cannot get them to me, even after two weeks. I let them know 6 months ago that we would be withdrawing from their practice and they could cancel my son's appointment, yet they still tried to confirm the appointment. The office staff's attention to detail is woefully lacking, and there's a massive lack of communication and attentiveness to patient care between the office staff and the dental team. I cannot possibly recommend this practice. Everyone I know who goes here has the same experience and most have changed to other dentists. A cheaper office visit does not equate to a decent dentist.

"Our prices have just gone up on this..."These are common statements from some of the accounting staff, instructed from higher authorities! I complained about my balance and subsequently left the practice.A supervisor who identified herself as "Olga" stated to me that she disliked my complaints/statements. I stated to her "the truth hurts" and "this is a free country as I am protected by my 1st amendment rights." I was rational, respectful and non-cursing. "Olga" over the phone tracked my new dentist and badmouthed me to this new dentist. " This is truly unprofessional. Also,in the last few years, there been a high turn over of dentists and one worker committed suicide. One of the bright spots in this practice is Dr. Schreck , a specialist who is top drawer and his male dental assistant. West Side please remember the adage "Money isn't everything!

They followed up on the phone and timed my visit to my convenience. They have all the high tech tools you need, and a lab on site for a very quick procedure, which is super crucial if you have anything beyond a regular cavity that needs addressing. The only thing worse than a root canal is a root canal that takes two--or even three(!) visits to complete. The time and trauma saved doing everything in one place is a valuable thing indeed. Amazingly for a city like NY, they fit me in quickly to take care of a not-quite emergency-but definitely concerning incident--my implant crown and screw just came out overnight-- it somehow just made it out as if it was never in there to begin with. They had me in that day and put everything back in place. I won't spill the details in a public forum but it was one of those freak occurrences that required some sleuthing and very steady hands. I saw Dr.Orlando and he was very knowledgeable and did an incredible job. I even sent him pictures so he could research the implant and find the right tools, before I came in, and when I got there everything was set up and good to go. Dr. Liss and everyone at Upper East Smiles provide such a warm, reassuring environment. I was so…read morenervous about my gum graft surgery (which required tissue from both sides of my palate to thicken tissue under 5 teeth). I compared so many options in NYC, and even other states and outside the US. Two weeks after my gum graft, I feel confident that I made the best choice. I knew beforehand that the surgery wouldn't be covered by insurance, and truth be told, it wasn't cheap--but it was worth every penny for this level of care. The entire time, I knew I was in good hands. There was the option to watch Netflix or other platforms before and during the procedure, though in the end I switched to just music. (You can even choose the music if you want.) I'm so grateful to Dr. Liss, who really rooted me on and made me feel seen and cared for, and even called me that evening to see how I was feeling. I'm told this is probably the only graft I'll need, and it sounds like this investment will enable me to keep my lower front teeth another 40 years. If I need any other procedures in the future, it'll be a relief to know I can go back to Upper East Smiles. (I rarely write reviews, but the reviews made a big difference in helping me figure out where to go--I hope this review helps someone in a similar situation.)

A tooth that had a root canal about 3 years ago went south - hidden chamber, mouth too small to correct. Dr. Zagari took a same day appointment (I call at 10 am in pain and told his staff the endodontist is recommending extraction, he can't fix the tooth, staff said great, come in at 1pm, 2pm tooth out). No pain! Just had an implant put in and the staff is super professional and Dr. Zargari is tops. Great follow-up! The hubby had all his wisdom teeth extracted by Dr. Swain and that went super well. This is a typical UES practice that doesn't take insurance but they will submit your claim to your carrier for reimbursement (to you). The staff is friendly and efficient. No complaints!
