On 11/14/23 I was referred to Dr. Robb by my Neurosurgeon - Dr. Igor Yusupov, MD. my neurosurgeon's office sent the referral via fax to Dr. Robb office. I NEVER received a call from Dr. Robb or his office. When I called 480-303-1133 it was an answering service. The operator told me the Dr. Robb makes his own schedule and the I should email him to make an appointment. I called my neurosurgeon's office (Stridewell Clinic) and asked to be referred to a different Neuro Optometrist as I don't trust going to a Doctor that does not respond to referrals for over a month and that I have to track down. I acquired hyperacusis and tinnitus in November 2012 from playing in loud bands. I went online to look for someone who could help me. I called Dr. Robb's office, as on his website he said he had an emergency protocol for recent cases of hyperacusis. I asked what this was, only to be told I needed to make an appointment to get this simple answer. (I later found out it was prednisone, which is given for cases of sudden hearing loss but has not been researched for hyperacusis.) I arrived at his office for my appointment two weeks later, having taken a risky flight from California. As he went through the motions I had questions which he seemed annoyed to answer and I felt like I was bothering him even though I was paying a lot for his time. In our two-hour appointment, I didn't learn anything that I didn't already know from researching on the internet. That figures, as I know now that no doctor knows anything about my problem, hyperacusis from noise. I took the prednisone as prescribed, and it did nothing for my ears. Dr. Robb also gave me a disk of pink noise, which is supposed to increase tolerance to sound. I listened to this for a few months and saw no improvement, so I called again. This time, he prescribed noise generators, which put a soft broadband noise directly in the ears. He said I would need to return to Phoenix to pick them up. Because I was still new to this health problem, I thought he had a special way of administering these devices. I flew all the way back to Phoenix from California. An airplane flight is risky for someone with hyperacusis. There was no reason for him to have me make a special trip just to pick them up, when reliable shipping services such as UPS, USPS and FedEx have been in use for years. I tried the ear generators for almost a year and saw no improvement. Also, they made a loud beep when the battery needed replacing, which should be unacceptable to a doctor whose patients have hyperacusis. The beep alone gave me worsened ear pain for days. During our meetings, Dr. Robb didn't seem to understand anything about noise damage or to know that noise can enter the ear through bone conduction as well as through air. He didn't understand setbacks or explain the need to avoid them, and he didn't understand how an unexpected noise could cause further pain. My visits to him were pointless, expensive and counterproductive. I don't think Dr. Robb has any idea how to help people with noise-induced hyperacusis. read more

I've been dealing with hyperacusis for about a year and half. I went to 2 or 3 ENT doctors with very little knowledge of the condition. After googling, I found Dr Robb. At first I was a little discouraged he didn't take insurance, but being desperate I made the investment. And I am SO glad a did. He's a true pro and he spends 2 hours with you, exactly what I needed. Unlike the other doctors that just spent 5 minutes. He gave me a ton of info and a treatment plan. A year and half later I have made a great progress (with the expected set backs). I went back for one follow up, but have emailed him multiple times with quick response and he doesn't charge me. If you're dealing with hyperacusis or other ear conditions, and you can afford it or to make payments which he offers, DO IT! You will NOT regret it! read more

So, I've suffered from Ménière's Disease for about 3 years. (Longer, but wasn't properly diagnosed until 2012). I had a great doc in CA but I had to move to AZ a year ago. I started having some problems again and sought out a specialist who deals with this affliction. I show up for a 2-hr session (which I was told in advance) thinking maybe I'd finally found someone who could really help! HA! This doctor does not deal with insurance- he's in "private practice". $320/hr!!!! I walked out of there knowing no more than when I entered with pages of paperwork on VITAMINS and a deficit of $720.00!!! SMH. In my honest opinion, he's a vitamin pusher/paper fanatic. I've been taking supplements for a while now already! I was told I'd receive follow up calls by his nurse (who was very nice) -- I haven't! Nor did she return the call I made to her with questions!! After a motorcycle accident, I suffered from vertigo. At the time, I didn't know what vertigo was - I just called it dizzy spells. I didn't have insurance at the time of my accident. I fully expected to be treated like a 2nd class citizen, but I wasn't.... After the usual paperwork, I saw Dr. Robb. One thing I've gotten used to over the years is seeing physicians who had little time for me as an individual (with or without insurance). Dr. Robb was a pleasant surprise. We spent 20 minutes discussing my history & symptoms. Then, he took the time to diagnose & discuss my condition (with visual aides). He validated my concerns, explained my options, and treated me like a doctor who cares about his patients. Here's the deal-and it was a big deal for me. If you've ever had a chiropractic manipulation on your neck, you would be shocked at this treatment. Dr. Robb gave me what I would call a very slow, calm manipulation that entailed me turning my head, lying on my side, and allowing Dr. Robb to carefully turn my head. After 6 weeks of not being able to lay my head on a pillow without having the world spin, I was cured...after one appointment. Let's get one thing straight...at heart, I am a sceptic of all things...aliens, bigfoot, the grassy knoll, and quick-fix-medical-treatments. If you told me that Dr. Robb, could cure me in one visit, I would have said that it was some kind of "voodoo science". Nobody gets cured of that kind of thing after one treatment. I was. If you've ever suffered from vertigo, you know what a huge relief this can be. 5 months later, I am symptom free. It's not rocket science folks, but few physicians understand that it only takes a few minutes of their time to listen to their patients that makes the difference. By his treatment of me, I'm guessing that Dr. Robb has figured that out. I would highly recommend him to any of my friends or co-workers. read more

i have bilateral meniere's disease, recruitment /hyperacusis, patulous eustachian tubes and roaring pusatile tinnitus. i have had my case reviewed and been to the top ent centers in the usa. the problems i have are not curable . everyone has said there was nothing to do for me. dr robb has offered me medical therapies to help reduce the torture. once you are a patient he answers many questions by email. p.s. he is a nice person as well as a great doctor. i am an m.d. myself so i have met and worked with all types for 38 years. read more

This is my first time writing a review for anything in my life but I'm so gratefully, happy and blessed to have been seen by Dr Robb I have to say I been suffering for two months with dizziness not vertigo thank god but still very life wrecking I got so bad I had to go to ER they ran multiple test EKG blood work everything came out fine. I also seen ENT specialist they said my hearing was close to perfect now i was starting to get scared because although I was glad nothing major was wrong I didst ever think I would get better since a cause could not be found my wife left me I almost lost my job because I was always just wanting to test an my wife could not understand that I did not feel well due to looking well on the outside my holiday new years did not go good which led me here finally tired frustrated and just ready to say if my life ended I would be better off now I seen Dr. Robb business number I called left a message and in 15 min received a call from one of the most caring professional staff member immediately from speaking with her I knew I would be cured at this office at first my appt was one month away and I stressed to her how bad I feel and need help fast she said let me speak with the Dr. and ill call you back and in now time she called and said be here tomorrow at 8 and normally he don't work the day he seen me but he so good at what he does and does it for the sake of relieving his pt problem he seen me and spent 20 min asking me my symptoms and family history then spent the next hr giving me test by the end of the visit the Dr literally cured me and I was dizzy free after all my suffering I could not believe it it helped so well I teared up and could not thank him enough he's very nice caring and very good at what he does I'm very blessed to have seen him and would recommend him to every and anyone thank you and Sorry for such long story its just how happy I am. read more

In 2013, I developed tinnitus and dizziness immediately after prolonged exposure to loud noise. It was so loud that I couldn't sleep, I was out of work, I couldn't even eat I was so upset and scared. Everyone said that it would go away but it didn't. After a few weeks it lessened but it never went away, it was constant. It was like a nightmare. I went to three ENTs including a specialist and none were able to help me, although I feel one really tried. I heard about Dr. Robb's clinic and I called and spoke with Melanie, Dr. Robb's assistant. I felt hope for the first time in months. I took a week off of work and drove down to Arizona for a comprehensive evaluation and consultation with Dr. Robb. He was able to explain exactly what had happened to me and what my treatment options were. There is no cure for tinnitus, but with the treatment and answers Dr. Robb has provided I'm getting my life back. No, he does not take insurance. That is the tradeoff for getting the time and attention that he provides to his patients. Yes, he does have dietary and supplement recommendations as I have seen someone mention but that there is a cost to every synthetic medication(to your body and health) and sometimes a pill is not the only answer. Also, Dr. Robb certainly offered to discuss medications with me, which I declined. What I appreciate most about Dr. Robb and Melanie is the ongoing support I have received. They are very compassionate, and real people. His message to me has been, enjoy your life and don't live in fear.
