Eli knew exactly what I meant when I asked for a beautifully symmetric diamonds and not crushed ice. We vibed right away. He has great taste and knows what a beautiful diamond looks like from an ugly one. Because let me tell you, there are a lot of ugly diamonds out there and there are many brokers who will try to convince you that they're pretty! I also really appreciated that he didn't ask what my budget was like so many other places. He focused on finding me not one, but two perfectly matched pairs of diamonds for studs. All of the other places wouldn't show me more than one pair. And you know what? I took both pairs because they were both so perfect I couldn't let them go! Other places told me it was impossible to find 2 old mine cushion cut matching diamonds but Eli did it. And he did it in like 2 days! He called me and kept me updated. When he showed me the diamonds he was super patient as I studied each one. There was never, at any point any sales pressure. He let me think over which pair I wanted without threatening that they'd be gone the next day (unlike Capri). I highly recommend him and wish I had found him before I got engaged!

My engagement ring was a relatively thin platinum band, and they had warned us that the band would be malleable due to the material. However, I didn't realize how malleable it could get until after I began wearing it. I was so set on choosing platinum because I figured it would be the easiest and most low maintenance material. The band kept losing its shape any time I wore it. It began driving me insane because I needed to come in and get it fixed almost every 4-8 months (depending on how frequently I was wearing it). I started to get anxiety everytime I wore my engagement ring because I was so afraid of it losing shape. I began to wear it less and less and stuck to my wedding band (which is white gold--lesson learned) only. I was also too afraid to go to any other jeweler near where I lived to get the ring fixed because I truly only trusted Bridal Ring's team. Finally, I was done feeling afraid and decided to switch the band entirely. I explained to Zoe, an associate at Bridal Ring & explained the situation. We discussed the different options and ultimately we determined I wanted to switch my band to the lowest maintenance metal I could without losing the integrity and design I initially had. Zoe and the team were so kind. They came up with an idea to switch the band to a yellow gold band & solder my platinum prongs with my diamond onto it. I had an excellent experience at Michael K Jewelers shopping for wedding bands for me and my fiancee. Our first visit was to the Sarah Leonard Fine Jewelers across the street, which had a nice selection but we were put off by the high prices, so we took note of the style and kept shopping. When we entered Michael K. Jewelers we were greeted by Michael himself, who asked us what we were looking. He was mindful of our budget and showed me several men's wedding bands. They didn't have as big of a selection as Sarah Leonard, but he promised with 100% confidence that he could custom make any ring piece to look just like the style we liked from other shops. We went through a catalog and found the closest style to what I liked, except it didn't have the Milgrain pattern, he said there is no problem to add it in. I even got to specify the kind of polish (satin, stone polish, high polish), which given the shape of the design, should have been hard to put in. A sample ring was ordered and came in a week later, it looked just like the style I liked from Sarah Leonard, but with the custom polish that I chose, and at 3/5 of the price of competing jewelers. It required a minor correction that I wanted to make, it's just a sample but Michael took detailed notes on them and assured me that he will make sure the final ring will be exactly what I wanted. I went ahead and ordered the final ring and got it in 3 weeks, and it looked perfect, with the correction in place so I was very impressed. I am an engineer by trade and am very particular about how precision pieces should look, so it's not easy to impress me. It was done at the end of week 2 but due to my busy work schedule, I wasn't able to pick up the ring for a week after it was ready to be picked up. Michael then offered to deliver it to my office. Michael goes above and beyond to ensure customer satisfactions and that is something I respect a great deal. I will definitely come shop again for future occasions. read more

My husband and I recently moved to LA from Texas and were looking for a jeweler who could help us replace my damaged engagement ring setting (which was purchased back in Texas). I read Michael's glowing Yelp reviews and we decided to visit his shop and see what he could do. From the first phone call, to the numerous emails, through the design process of my ring, to the last visit when I picked up my finished ring, it was 10 star service!!! Michael runs a phenomenal business and truly cares about the service he provides. Michael helped us to work with our insurance company to get our claim filed, eased us though the design process to make sure my diamond would fit perfectly in a new setting, and kept us informed while we waited. I've been to many jewellery stores browsing, buying and talking to the salespeople about their products. Many of those salespeople were helpful and knowledgeable, but quite a few are patronizing, clueless or high-pressure salesmen. The high pressure sales pitch, especially, became a pet peeve of mine when shopping for my fiancé's engagement ring. I had a very hard time trusting those salespeople and those stores with such an important purchase. They'd try to shift me from what I had in mind to what they have in store. Or they'd try to up sell me. I'd shopped with Michael K before and knew him to be a warm, sincere and helpful person. So, on my next visit to Los Angeles, I made sure to stop into his store and ended up purchasing a one of a kind engagement ring there. We're both thrilled with the ring and we always receive compliments on the ring. I've never written a Yelp review before but my fiance and I just picked up our wedding bands yesterday from Michael K and they are STUNNING! We found Michael thanks to Yelp and want to add to the chorus of rave reviews. We knew we wanted to design custom wedding bands but only had a rough idea of what we wanted--something based on the twist design of our silver engagement rings but more durable. Michael worked with us to create a custom design for white gold bands. Adding the diamond detail we envisioned for my band was a little complicated but Michael worked diligently with his off-site partner to make sure we got what we wanted. Turnaround took just under two months and was totally worth the time. The rings are perfect! Michael also helped me convert a diamond ring I inherited from my grandmother into a pendant that retained the same design. I'm thrilled to be able to wear a piece of family history on my wedding day in a way that really suits my personal style. We had been to a few jewelers looking at engagement rings before we went to Michael K's. After meeting Michael, it was the first time I felt comfortable out of all the stores we had been to. This made a big difference. His expertise and confidence in his ability really brought about a more relaxed experience than I anticipated. We had a custom ring made and after talking with my girlfriend (fiancée now!) about what she wanted, and seeing a few pictures she sent him, he was able to put together exactly what she was hoping for. Like exactly. As in, it's ridiculous how much she has been ogling the ring. She may need help now. Professional help. Like from the elves in Rivendell. But this is a good problem to have! The showroom features a quite a large variety of styles from a number of different jewelers, including the owner himself. I was impressed by the quality of the pieces on display: this was not mass-produced fast-fashion silver jewelry, but carefully crafted pieces of wearable art.There's a combination of silver with and without stones. I was particularly impressed by some of the silver and amber pieces on display. Michael the owner was incredibly friendly and helpful. He was happy to show me a variety of rings and a necklace that were extraordinarily tempting (and I barely resisted because I'd made a recent purchase on Etsy.) He showed me his own beautiful pieces which combined some traditional motifs I was familiar with his own unique style. Sea of Silver is not super inexpensive, however, given the work that goes into hand-made jewelry (not to mention the rising cost of silver), I don't think the prices are unreasonable. TL;DR - L'Oliphant sold us a FAKE men's wedding band that was listed as 14KT solid white gold (for…read more$1,000!). We found out AFTER our wedding that it was some alloy of iron and nickel covered in gold. When we went to the shop, BJ didn't take any responsibility. After my husband pressured her she did eventually refund us for the original amount. However, we still suffered losses paying for the ring authentication AND the increase in gold price from last year. Oh and now we know we had a FAKE ring in our wedding and all of the photos for the rest of our lives. You can see in my Yelp history that I normally avoid writing reviews like this, as I understand how bad reviews can impact certain businesses. I already know that the owner BJ is going to write and deny all of this but I feel that I'm truly doing the public a disservice by not saying anything because we got scammed. The only thing that would have prevented me from leaving this review is if she took FULL responsibility and went above and beyond to make it right. Clearly, we are all reading my review right now so she did NOT make it right or even take an inkling of responsibility. We were recommended L'Oliphant's services for custom engagement and wedding bands. The entire process took a few weeks in 2024. The process was not as smooth as I would have preferred - their receipt system is absolutely a mess, and we had to drive across town numerous times for appointments or to review designs in person. What really was the kicker - we purchased a men's white gold wedding band and we were assured it was solid gold. Priced at $1000. When we received it, it had an imperfection on it that we pointed out several times to BJ but she kept insisting that it was just an issue with the casting and refused to fix it. Anyways, we were sick and tired of driving all the way across town every week so we just accepted it and assumed we could polish out the imperfection later. Because how were we supposed to know? A few months after our wedding, we took a necklace to a different jeweler down the street for some work. Asked him if he could polish the imperfection on the ring. Immediately he knew it wasn't solid gold. Showed us on the microscope - the imperfection was actually a CHIP in the top layer of gold and there was some non gold metal underneath. He also did a scratch test for us to show that the metal underneath was not gold. I've attached a photo of the imperfection under the microscope and you can clearly see, it is not gold underneath. We called L'Oliphant to ask them, Christina picked up the phone and was very kind and assured us they would make it right but that we could take it to an independent coin shop that does gold scanning to be sure. We followed her recommendation and paid $50 for the written report. The gold shop scanned the ring right in front of us where the imperfection was and showed us that it had nickel and iron in it. No gold ring should have nickel or iron, and the shop owners actually told us that they wouldn't even buy that kind of ring because the gold layer on top is essentially worthless due to the alloy content inside. This gold shop is a highly reputable business with 500+ Yelp reviews and a 4.8 star rating - so we have no reason not to believe them. I've attached a video of the scan (sped up, as Yelp does not allow videos over 30s). When we brought the scan proof and ring back to L'Oliphant, BJ took zero responsibility and immediately denied everything, stating that "other jewelers have it out for us here" and that "some people put acid on their jewelry" and also that "the scanner may not have been calibrated correctly" so she needed to test it herself. She took out a literal magnet and showed us that it did not stick to the ring. Amazing. I asked if she had her scanner or even some microscope to look at it in store and she said no, that she'd have to take the ring and scan it within the next two weeks. My husband pushed her to refund us the original amount, which she did, but that was the BARE MINIMUM in making this right for us. BJ took the ring and told us she would test the ring HERSELF. This is the only test we've had without transparency where we won't be able to see the results with our eyes. To add insult to injury - she had one of her shop associates call us to tell us a week later that, miraculously, the ring is solid gold based on her tests. I already know she will respond to my review denying this - she can deny all she wants but we took the ring and had it verified by TWO independent sources and both sources confirmed it was not solid gold. The worst part was - the imperfection on the ring was already there the day we bought it. It never should have been sold to us like that, but I'm truly grateful it was there, as we probably would not have found out that the ring was fake until years later. I would not recommend doing business with L'Oliphant.
