It was easy to get appointments for me, for some reason (because my husband tried and he couldn't get decent appointments at all, and he has more availability than me). I met with Susan Mammen on my first visit, for evaluation. She was very friendly and thorough, I really appreciated her time and her care. I only saw her for 2 of my visits, however, which was unfortunate. I also saw Wendy Winters for 2 visits, her hands-on technique was incredible and both times I left there feeling more comfortable than when I walked in. Both Susan and Wendy sent me off with great stretches and instructions. I was happy to see both of these PTs. My last 4 appointments were scheduled with Brittany Pham. She is a very sweet girl and gave me some great exercises to do at home. That being said, she was very talkative and most of the sessions were her talking and using her hands to talk so the therapy pressure was either not there or very light. I felt like I got zero therapy or relief under her visits. At the other physical therapy places I've been to, I get quite a bit of hands-on time and assistance with exercises, typical visits are about an hour. Not at St. Jude, here I was in and out in about 15 minutes. The PTs never left my side, which was nice, but I felt like there could have been so much more done to help me out. I did get a couple of valuable stretches to do, so hopefully my shoulder pain will start getting better on it's own. Nice place and very organized, but I don't feel that I received optimal physical therapy.

After 3 years of pain from trigger finger, multiple steroid injections that would only provide…read moretemporary relief, and after a thorough research I've decided to have it resolved with surgery. The pain from not being able to completely bend my finger and inability to make a full fist with my left hand was so debilitating to me. Dr. Bittner was highly recommended for this procedure and it was promptly scheduled. He has many years of experience in this field and comes across as very personable and caring. The procedure itself lasts only few minutes where the surgeon gives the patient a local numbing injection, makes a small incision and cuts the pulley that is stuck, which prevents the tendon to do its job, i.e. smoothly slide back and forth when we bend the finger. Each finger has 3 pullies, so cutting one makes no difference to the finger but it does to mobility. Everything went well, easy and painless; Dr. Bittner and his wonderful assistant Carrie kept informing me what was being done every minute of the procedure and I felt very confident about my decision. Carrie then stitched the incision, asked me to return the next day for checkup and new dressing. The stitches came off 2 weeks after the surgery and I'm now doing exercises to get the strength and mobility back. It usually takes one month to get to full recovery, but so far, so fantastic!! I already forgot that I had surgery and am using my finger at 95% capacity, but am very confident that it will be back to normal in a very short time. My only regret is that I didn't do this sooner. Please don't suffer from pain, a 5-minute procedure with Dr. Bittner will bring you back to your normal self!!

The first spinal surgeon declined to operate on me as the site of surgery was too close to my brain stem involving my spinal cord. He referred me to his friend and that is how I got into contact with the neurosurgeon that saved my life, Dr. Erick Westbroek. I'm not sure why there is one disgruntled review on his Yelp page but nonetheless, I would like to speak accolades about his professional treatment of me with courtesy and respect. When he first examined me, I had a pretty serious medical problem that requires immediate surgical intervention. I'm talking about the kind that can lead to an occlusion of a vertebral artery could potentially cause induce a stroke. However, he was very calm and collected when he reviewed my medical notes and charts, knowing full well my medical condition even before I stepped into his office. Though he outlined the risks of the surgery, he spoke with a sense of reassurance that only someone who is confident in their skills can. I had my surgery within 2 weeks of initial consult with him due to the manner of my emergent medical condition. The day of surgery, he looked very relaxed and full of energy, ready to do my surgery. I was able to speak with him for a brief moment sharing how people of almost the entire orange county are praying for me and for him before the surgery. He made his surgical mark with a marker and before I knew what was happening after I was wheeled into the operating room, I was anesthetized. After what felt of only a minute, though the surgery lasted 6 hours, I woke up in the intermediate care unit where I had full use of my limbs again. As a physician, he restored my health. It was incredulous to believe. An ailment that I was afflicted with for several months was now abated. I could walk again! Not only that, I woke up to a new Pope elected after my surgery, Pope Leo. Furthermore, 2 of the nurses that visited and cared for me was my classmate and student. If that is not an uncanny coincidence, I don't know what is. I knew it was one of those where God provided Divine Providence. What a fitting name as the hospital where my life was saved... was owned by Providence. I would consider you a renown neurosurgeon in this county of Orange as there are few people with your subset of technical skills to operate at a precise level, restoring the health of the human body to its original function.

The original implant positioning was dramatically outside specifications--confirmed by imaging and the actual findings during revision surgery. Even worse, the measurements documented in the original operative report were contradicted by the actual imaging and surgical findings. This isn't speculation or opinion. It was proven by the surgeons who had to fix his work. Both hip components were put in incorrectly and needed replacement. He left me with a disaster that required major reconstructive surgery and a brutal recovery. Five years of pain because this doctor couldn't do the job correctly and couldn't accurately document what he had done. Incompetent, dishonest, and completely unacceptable. Stay away from this doctor.
