If I could rate them any lower I would. Disgusting, filthy, cramped store. Add in a ladder blocking every other aisle and you have found yourself in the hell hole that is Michael's. Coupon policy changes every time I go in. Sometimes they accept the ones from my smart phone, othertimes not. They store is always messy. Boxes everywhere, shelves messy. Always low staffed, and most staff doesn't know where things are in the store if I'm looking for something specific. read more

I haven't been to this Michaels in a few years after having a less than stellar experience. I stopped back in a few days ago because I didn't feel like navigating Hobby Lobby and only needed a few things. I was pleasantly surprised to see the store had a fun new seasonal section and that the other sections had new overhanging signs. The store was cleaner than I remember, and the customer service was much better. A girl named Candace cashed us out, and she was very pleasant. She even humored my sister's boyfriend when he was quizzing her about primary colors. It's been a while since I've been in, but it seems like Michaels is making a come back! read more

This is a nice Michael's. It's nicely maintained and the people working here are friendly and knowledgeable. Lots and lots of stuff in the store! What prevents this rating from being a five is how slow the checkout process is. A line builds up quickly and they are not quick to get more cashiers to the front. A single cashier was struggling to serve a lengthy line for quite some time before anyone else opened a register. I'm surprised more people didn't walk out (they lost a few customers). read more

This review has to do with Michael Crafts and purchasing a gift card on line. Basically after one month I discovered the person I gave the gift to never got the email with the barcode to use it. She called, I called, Her husband called and each time we were blown off with it should be coming. My advise DON'T BUY MICHAELS GIFT CARDS ONLINE The worse part was when I called I was connected with a woman who hung up on me. I suggest going to HOBBY LOBBY they treat people well there- the only reason I bought from Michaels is the person usually goes there but since this experience is also rethinking where she will buy her crafting items. This company seems not only over priced but unorganized with poor accounting that tilts in their favor- if you don't pay attention to your statements and follow up Michaels will make money on you and your recipient will not actually get the gift you sent. I visited this location a few days ago to purchase decorations for my daughters first birthday. The banner parts that I purchased had not been open but was an incomplete set. Very disappointed as I did not have time to go back to the store before her party and I was unable to put together her banner successfully! Most days I would give this store 5 stars, but not today. I am so upset! Just left this store at around 7:14pm after an employee named Terri was extremely rude to me! I didn't realized the store closed at 7pm. I must've walked in shortly after their closing announcements were made. I was in the store for about 10 minutes before heading to the register to pay. I was then approached by Terri and was rudely told that they were closed. The phone started ringing at this point and Terri then proceeded to loudly tell an employee not to pick up the phone after their 7pm closing time. She then looked at me and said that they were trying to go home. I told her that I didn't realized that they were closed. I started to follow her to a register to pay but then simply put the item down and said that I had changed my mind. Terri, we all have bad days! You didn't have to take it out on me though. I'm a paying customer and love shopping at Michael's - I'm not going to let one person ruin this for me, but I am going to contact management tomorrow and the corporate office too. Terri, I hope you go through some customer service training again and hopefully you'll be nicer to me next time I go into the store. There is no cost to becoming a member just give them you phone and emails address and start saving on the things you like to craft with. K and I have shopped here before and again, using the coupon in the Sunday paper, walk out feeling like Michaels corporate just doesn't care. The coupons promise something is on sale but upon further review of the small print with a magnifying glass you come to find that the item you want isn't discounted but something similar is. No doubt, the items that sell slowly are the ones qualified under the coupon. This time we had a coupon that said 40% off stickers. So we got some stickers for C to use on a school project. When we checked out the girl informed us that not all stickers were included under the coupon, just certain ones. Of course, none of the packets we grabbed were included. As I said, this happened before when K and I were shopping for gifts for C's cousins. We found stuff that seemingly would work with the coupon from the paper but upon trying to use it at check out we were told that the items we were buying did not qualify. The thing is, Michaels is not cheap. This is not a bargain place. But, a lot of the stuff they sell is also carried at other stores. 2 of those are less than half a mile to the west. As K said as we were leaving, Michaels needs to be more like Khols. They make taking coupons an art. K is always happy with how Khols handles the coupons and discount cards. But in the end, it just hurts Michaels. We hardly ever go there because of the past issues and anymore, there's other stores in town. On the plus side, the staff we've encountered has been very pleasant and this store seems to have a pretty good selection of stuff. Nice Staff. Lousy Coupon policy. Above average Prices. I love Michaels as a brand. I enjoy crafting, new hobbies, and everything Michaels is about... I could spend my life savings in there without much of a thought. I worked at a Michaels for two years (mind you, my feelings of shopping at Michaels are independent from my feelings of working for them) so I'm intimately familiar with corporate standards and what the employees are up against. This store FAILS. Customer service: I've rarely so much as been greeted by an employee here. When I seek someone out, they act like it's an inconvenience for them to stop what they're doing and answer my question.. or God-forbid, walk with me to another section. If a second cashier is called up for the always-way-too-long checkout lines, they too act like it's such an inconvenience. I saw a woman with "assistant manager" on her name tag walk right by me, standing in the back of a 10-person, impatient line, without stopping to help, calling for other help, saying a word to anybody, or even making eye-contact. Ignoring us doesn't make us go away. Store cleanliness: There are consistently shipping boxes from incoming merchandise, overstock boxes, and extra product stacked in the aisles. The same boxes stacked on top of the aisles is more out of the way, but still tacky. Every retail store has to deal with customers putting things down in the wrong spot, even the wrong department, and routinely go through putting things back... that doesn't happen here, at least not often. Framing department: I had a poster that I am VERY fond of framed here. Again, working at Michaels I was trained in the framing department, so I know their standards. To start, the frame samples are kept behind a counter, so I expected the associate to help me identify which ones I wanted to see. She would bring out only the ones I specified, one at a time, as I asked for them... no advice, suggested alternatives if one didn't work, or opinions in any way. No price guidance, no aesthetic guidance, no questions about what I was looking for, not even a trace of up-selling, and frankly no help. I made my decisions somehow, and left it for the 10 days it would take. When I came to pick it up, there was some of the poster "fine print" (copyright info I think) half visible, half cut off by the frame. When I asked about it, they said they had been trying to center the print, and that's how it had to be. No, no...first of all, it still wasn't centered, so that's no excuse. Secondly, that's a big problem, not collateral damage they should have been ok with. Shouldn't they strive for perfection when I'm paying a lot of money for professional framing? They agreed to re-frame it (another week) and it was positioned correctly the next time. The last problem was evident after I got it home. The poster, which was purchased rolled up, had small creases in it over the entire surface from having been rolled so long. In my frame shop, it wasn't even questioned if a poster would be dry-mounted, it just was. That would have smoothed out the poster since it is essentially adhering the poster to a piece of foam-board. If they didn't want to include that automatically, fine, but they should have offered. These framing "experts" should have known what would happen without it and suggested a solution. I'd have paid extra to have it done, I obviously was willing to pay to have the whole project done well. These framers didn't take my project seriously; I mean it was a small job (relatively cheap compared to other custom frames), and a reproduced poster as opposed to original art. Why should they exert effort into that? The ONE exception to this review is ONE employee I saw a couple times, who went out of her way to help me. She came to ME to ask if she could help, she was friendly, and she offered her help as a cashier when they got backed up from having only one register open. She was on the replenishment crew, so customer interaction isn't even her usual job. Unfortunately, everything else about this store has convinced me to stop shopping there and drive the extra ten minutes to Tempe Marketplace. This store needs a serious corporate overhaul. read more

I really was disappointed by the customer service at this store. It seems like the employees really couldn't care less about customers and the company doesn't enforce any sort of respect. It's also messy and cramped! I also tried calling in to ask about an item. I got hung up on twice and every person who answered the phone was rude. Do yourself a favor and make the drive to the Gilbert store. read more

Awesome service at this location, I came in the evening on a Thursday if that makes a difference in the service some have reported. They sold me their Halloween town displays at a discount and threw in a free light kit! I could honestly spend hours in here looking at supplies for art projects, it's usually not very busy at all. Sign up for the email coupons or look them up online. They should take them right off of your smartphone. read more

I got dragged here by my best friend who happens to be a teacher so I wasn't super thrilled but anything for the bestie. I don't frequent craft stores all the time but everything that my friend was looking for was really easily found. I can only say thing because while she couldn't find anything she was looking for I was easily able to navigate using their signs to find the desired items. The staff was always friendly as we looked around seemingly forever for knick knacks for her class all the way to check out. read more

Very bad customer service. The manager asks their inexperienced clerks to help with framing when they have not had proper training. The other clerks are rude and unhelpful in trying to fix problems created by the inexperienced staff - making it the customer problem. The manager is not interested in solving the problem - only putting it back on the customer. Take your money elsewhere or expect a major headache in dealing with this staff. read more

I take my kids to the Saturday art class and Ms. Mindy is so great with the kids. She is so patient and nice and she does so much extra in the summer program she's like the art grandma! My 5 year old always asks to go see Ms. Mindy for art class. She's a keeper. We love this Michaels and she tells us about the extra coupons and how to save, save, save! read more

I'm not a very crafty person. I think I've only been to Michael's a few times. I went again last night and thanks to my new obsession pinterest.com and the DIY stuff, I could totally drop hundreds of $$ at that place! There are lots of cute things there. They have printed glue guns for 5 bucks! How cool. I'll have to pick one of those up on my next visit with the 40% off coupon I got with my receipt. :) My only complaint about this particular visit (1/11/12) was that it looked like there was only one line open because only one light was on, but there were two women behind the counter. There was one lady being checked out in the line with the light off, and two ladies waiting in the line with the light on, so I jumped in that line assuming the other lady was being helped with a special situation or something. Well the line got longer and kind of wrapped in a half circle towards the door and the grouchass woman behind the counter scolded everyone like we were children. Well lady, if you nimwits had both lights on, there wouldn't be any confusion on the line situation. Obviously she was having a case of the Wednesdays. read more

Oh how I WISH I could give more stars!! This location is conveniently located to my house. But beyond that I can't say much more. Nobody ever greets you or asks if you need help. When you find someone to ask nobody and I mean NOBODY knows where anything is. Their answer is always Oh well.. I think we might have that over that way. (pointing to a non general area). They never have anything that you see advertised and if they do it's in limited quantities. Also I asked when they'll receive their next store delivery and they didn't know... Seriously?! I've worked retail. I absolutely knew my delivery schedule and was more than happy to tell guests when to check back. Might have to check out a different location or start using online craft sites. read more

I would not recommend getting your framing completed with Richard, the framing manager. I took a puzzle into the store in the morning and two employees were very professional, creative, and helpful. I paid for the new frame but then took the puzzle home to reglue a few of the pieces, per the ladies' request. I wanted to add a sticker to the frame after the frame was completed but the ladies suggested I do that before the framing. The one lady said she would help me by applying a few pieces together and adding the sticker. I took the puzzle back to the store later in the day with the puzzle and the sticker. However, I encountered Richard who obviously did not want to help. In fact, he was so rude. He examined my receipt and saw that I had paid for the new frame but proceeded to ask me three times if I paid the frame after he saw my receipt. I paid for scissors and glue, that I needed to purchase to help myself. Richard was not going to touch my puzzle. As I was paying I asked if I could use my senior discount and he needed to check my ID. I have been shopping at this Michaels store since it was at this location and this is the first employee who asked me for ID. He obviously did not add the discount correctly and needed to refund my purchase and start over. He blamed me by saying he did not know I wanted to use the discount. I asked him as he was ringing up my purchase and he said it was okay. He should not have blamed me for his error. Another employee helped me with my purchase and he was so inappropriately rude to her. Why does he have a job at Michaels? He clearly does not perform his job duties well. He did not help me with my project and I am so glad I was helped earlier in the day with Lianne. read more
