Beware ... this is not a place your wife can just go into "for a minute" You are stuck for at least and hour (if you are lucky) Don't get me wrong its an amazing store (if you are a woman) but don't go there expecting to get out quickly (if you are a man) This place has any and every kind of decoration possible - prices are good. I've seen this shop before but never really knew what it was, and since I happened to be having lunch at the Thai restaurant next door, I stopped in. So glad I did! The name says Rod Works: Unique Iron and Home Decor, so I wrongly assumed it was a bunch of outdoorsy wrought iron decorations. Wrong! While they have some of that, it's actually just full to the brim with some of the neatest, coolest, cutest, and most unique home decor items. I have been a regular costumer and enjoyed the fun and unique items. I would've given 5-stars (in the past). It has clearly changed hands. I went in only to be greeted by loud and obnoxious music that didn't t quite fit the ambiance. I went to purchase a couple items from the 40% off table only to be told that those particular items didn't qualify...oh, but they're red, they're hearts, clearly valentine, but they just don't qualify as 'valentine' items. I had mentioned that they were from the clearance table...the manager continued to 'make her point' and was rather snarky about it, I guess the customer isn't always right! Disappointing. I'm in L*O*V*E with this store. I went here for the first time on Wednesday and was back on Saturday. And yes, there is no such thing as just popping in for a minute. It's like a home decor black hole. It's not huge space, but you can go through the whole store several times and still see something new on each pass. There is a lot of iron pieces, but so much more. You can find something for every room of the house, no matter what your taste is. Modern, country, traditional or Victorian! The staff is so helpful...bring in a picture of the space you'd like to find something for and they will find the perfect piece to fill it. True story. The space above my tv is no longer nekkid. No breaking the pocket book either. I usually shy away from these specialty stores because they mark up the product so much, but not here. I've come here twice and have enjoyed my experiences. I was able to score some adorable lanterns for home décor, bought my sister a vintage chalkboard for her upcoming wedding and some coasters for my dining table. I did have to return a wall plate I bought for a light switch, just because it didn't fit, but other than that, very much enjoy my purchases! The store is filled now with Christmas decorations! There's tons of stuff everywhere and have items to fill pretty much any room in the house. It's easy to get carried away here but totally worth a look! My team gave me a gift card to Rod Works as part of my going away present. I had received various gifts from a particular co-worker from this location over the past couple of years, so I was excited to get to shop here for myself. The store is well-organized and the staff is *really* nice. Walking into a smaller store I expected to be pestered to death with lots of "suggestions" and "Can I help you"s - but I was left alone after an initial greeting. The women who rang me up took the time to wrap up my glass pieces in bubble wrap, despite the growing line behind me during the busy holiday season. The location of this store is perfect for people who live in Queen Creek, Gilbert, Chandler, etc. - and I know they have other locations. The decor is primarily "rustic" - as the name would suggest. I found some goodies for my brother-in-law, a set of glass hurricane lanterns for my MIL, and a couple of adorable picture frames for myself. They run good sales, they are super nice, and they have lots of cutesy stuff in a store that is not overcrowded in the least. I say go. :) read more

This adorable home decor store just happens to be right in my neighborhood! I stumbled across a deal for this store off at PlumDistrict.com. The deal was for $20 for $40 of home decor from Rod Works. I happened to have a coupon for Plum District for an extra 25% off any deal, taking this deal to a steal at $15 for $40!! Anyways, being the shopper that I am, I was off to spend my deal certificate the next afternoon. Upon my arrival I was greeted with a cornucopia of decor ideas, creative displays & unique pieces. I walked through the store and was almost overwhelmed with the selection. There were 3 ladies working at the store at the time and they seemed to be doing some pretty good business. The ladies working were friendly, helpful and even helped by offering some suggestions for what I was looking for. I found everything to be moderately priced and well put together, noting seemed cheaply made and they had a nice selection of rod iron items. The prices on items are more then that of what you would expect to pay at Marshalls or Ross but less then you would expect to pay at Pier One or Pottery Barn. When I saw the "Now Open" sign over this shop, I immediately went from the far right lane to the far left to make a U-turn. An amazing store for home decor! When visiting family in another state, a trip to Rod Works was always on the to-do list. The company recently started franchising, with one in Las Vegas and now one in Higley, AZ. There's none of the frou-frou, too-cute stuff you see elsewhere. This is all about wrought iron, hammered tin vases and decorations, glazed enamel, unusual wall decor, and so much more. Pretty shocked to see negative comments about the employees here. My experience has always been really positive. They always say hi, offer help if I need it, and then leave me alone to browse which is WONDERFUL. I'm not a fan of stores where I feel pressured or where they offer constant unsolicited advice. And when I do check out, the ladies are friendly and funny. They often ask how I'll use what I'm buying in my home decorating. Great store! Anyone in charge at this place reading these recent reviews?? Or do you just not care that we spent $150 on 2 items in there this past weekend after no greeting or thank you after the fact!? Lectured for taking an item I wanted to buy off the wall (at eye level) and bringing it to the counter, seemed put out to go get the same item in back, told I needed to buy a yard of ribbon for $1 which was used to hang a sign and had no price tag (really? Couldn't just throw this in w/ a $65 sign purchase!? Ok), and no "thank you" or "have a nice day" or even "piss off" after the sale. We've always liked this store and enjoyed shopping local but will find the items we want online from here on as we don't feel one bit appreciated. I really love this store. I found it by seeing a photo of a cool rod on Pinterest that someone used to hang photos from. I clicked on the Pin and found that the rod was from Rod Works and then looked them up on Google & was happy to see we had a store in Arizona. I've been to this store 3 or 4 times so far. Terrible customer service. Went in to buy an item i knew they had in stock. The employee was snarky, asked me why I was buying multiples. Insinuated my card was declined when it didn't. I always love going into a Home Decor store. Although Rod Works has cute stuff, their staff and owner are less than helpful. I have been shopping there ever since it opened, and got frustrated by the rude staff so I stopped shopping there for years. Since I am an interior designer, I thought I would pop back in since I was in need of decor for a client. Even though the staff had switched, they were still very unprofessional. They spent my whole visit talking very loudly to each other instead of assisting shoppers. After I purchased hundreds of dollars of items, I got a coupon in my inbox for 20% off that evening. I went back with all the items still in bags and wrapped up for a discount and they said no they would not honor it. I love shopping with places that work with customers and give amazing service. This place is definitely not one of them. Really need to improve on creating a more friendly, community- oriented atmosphere if they want more business. read more

I have been coming to this store since they opened. Have spent quite a bit of money here. Went there yesterday Saturday, and spent about 109 dollars. I told the ladies that I had received a coupon on my phone. They said I could enter my name on their machine up front and it would come up. I get texts from them all the time with 50 percent off one item, etc. Well once again, I explained that I had received a discount text and they just stood there and looked at me. When someone shops in your store often and spends lots of money there, you should probably honor the discount that You sent to them???? Obviously they are texting these things out. The two ladies just stood there. Charged me full price and when I explained I had been a long time customer since day one, they should have offered the discount. Nope. Smirky little smiles on their faces and attitude for days. Not acceptable in a small business. There are tons of places like this to shop in Gilbert. They won't be seeing me back anytime soon. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! It is such a shame such a cute store has the worst customer service! I guess these people do not understand who is making them money. I have been in here a few times and spent a good amount of money here and each time they have had the attitude that they could really careless if anyone was buying anything! I have never been greeted or asked if I could be helped finding something or even just a have a great day as I was leaving. I agree with the other reviews that they do not care about there customers. I went in today to purchase a clock I had seen there before hanging behind the register. I walked up to the girl sitting there doing nothing and asked her if she knew if they had sold it and she looked up at me with a look on her face like I was bothering her. If looks could kill! She looks up at the wall where it would have been and looked back at me and said " I guess we did." That was it! No let me find out for you or anything! SO RUDE! I walked out and decided I will gladly take my money elsewhere. Fortunately you can find what they carry so easily these days online or even in many stores with much better customer service or I should say customer service period. I am glad to say I found the exact clock I went in there for online for a much cheaper price as well!! Just a reminder to this VERY RUDE staff - "Customers are like teeth. I had never shopped Iron Works but definitely will go back. I could not decide when to quit looking and which items to buy today vs. those to come back and buy later. It is such a fun store to shop in because no matter where you look, you are going to see something different when you look in the same place again. The decorating ideas are terrific. The staff is very helpful and display the inventory in such a charming way. It seemed that everyone shopping there was having as much fun as I was having and the prices are very reasonable. You will not be disappointed when you shop at this store. Just don't stop by thinking you will be able to run in and pick up something and get right out. I was VERY DISAPPOINTED with the lack of professionalism and customer service Lynne failed to provide though. Not only did I have to stand waiting, for her to finish her personal conversation, but she was plain rude once I asked her for help!!! It's unfortunate to have an employee leave such a negative impression. If I didn't love the products so much she would be enough to turn me off from the store entirely! Great store... I have been in Rod Works twice and each time I was disappointed. The decor that Rod Works offers is just Ross finds remarked and overpriced. The staff needs some serious lessons in customer service. I was never greeted, asked if I was looking for something in particular or thanked for my purchase (don't worry I wont be purchasing anything from there again). On my last visit I asked if I may set a breakable item at the counter that I wished to purchase so that I could continue to shop and was regarded in a snotty tone by a woman standing behind the counter that she "didnt work there". I get the impression that this store is just a hobby for some spoiled housewife who's husband has a real job and instead of taking care of her home and children she sits behind the counter of her store gossiping and ignoring customers. If I want to be treated poorly and be ignored Ill just shop at Walmart. More than likely I will find the same items for sale at a fraction of the cost. read more
