I needed some items for work so I decided to place a order for shipping, however with the holiday quickly approaching , I realized I wouldn't receive my items in time so I opted for pickup instead. The original location didn't have everything in my shipping order so I changed it to the Snowden River location which mostly had everything. It was actually ready pretty quickly and I went directly over there after work for pickup. I selected curbside, parked in the pickup slot, and someone quickly brought my items out to me. If I had my business card, I would have definitely went in and looked around but I decided to stay in my car and not spend any additional money. This place is great! Choked full of all the crafts any crafter could desire. I was specifically looking for small seashells and starfish I could attach to a string/strand and eventually put in my hair. I wandered about the store looking for these items myself, but the place was too big and full of stuff for me to find what I was looking for. I quickly found a sales associate and explained what I wanted. She directed me to aisle 19 where I found the goldmine! Everything I imagined for my project was at this Michael's! Update for a few days later; So I was originally right, my purchase did go through double (but off by .02 cents for some reason, so I can't dispute it as a duplicate charge) so now I have to make the 30 minute drive back up there to somehow have a manager refund my money. Probably the same manager who assured me I was wrong and that it would not post to my account. Thanks so much for the hassle that I do not need. I'd like my money back but I work full time and have horses to take care of after work, so I don't get home til around 8/9PM most days and I start my work day at 7:30. I actually worked for Hobby Lobby for close to 3 years as a GM so I rarely ever step foot in a Michaels. I now feel guilt free at stepping into the establishment. I absolutely love crafting and spend a pretty penny on crafting and cricut supplies in general. The store was clean and well stocked. Prices are a little high, but I know that if you're a bargain hunter you usually don't shop unless there is a sale going on or a really good coupon. Everything was easy to find. I went in today to pick up a few art supplies and had trouble finding the paintbrushes I was looking for. I wish I could have asked an employee for help- which was my first problem. I couldn't find a single employee despite wandering around the store multiple times. You know it's bad when you have to team up with other customers just to find what you're looking for and vice versa :/ Then checkout. I gave up looking after many passes through the store as I'd been there for almost an hour and still hadn't found the brushes or an employee that wasn't at the checkout. The brushes were available in-store according to their website. I brought my own reusable bag and the cashier checking me out didn't bag up my items and wouldn't take no for an answer when asking to sign up for their membership. I said no at least five times before being met with 'yeah, whatever'. I ended up having to scramble to put my things in my bag myself because there was a line and only one other cashier working, who conveniently disappeared when the line began to build up. Left feeling not great about my experience. I can say that both employees I saw were wearing masks properly, if that's something you care about. This review is specifically for the Manager of this store. She is a Caucasian Women, long ponytail, heavy set. I went here to pick up a package dropped off by UPS. Please note, I have been in contact with UPS for the past 3 days regarding this package because I did NOT want it to go to this store. UPS informed me on 3 separate occasions that the package was already at the store. I also had confirmation on the app that it is at this store. Please also note, I took an Uber to get to this store. As I stand in line this "Manager" clocks in on the register and says "Step down sir" which I assume is her way of saying "next in line". I inform her that I'm here to pick up a package and I'm immediately met with this attitude as if she doesn't want to be bothered with this. She opens the cabinet and scans with her eyes never touching a single package while asking "when did you get the delivery notification " Which I replied "yesterday" she then (again without going through any of the packages) turn around and tells me "it's not here, if you got it yesterday". I informed her numerous time, I have confirmation it's been delivered. She then picks up a scanner and checks through it and say again my package isn't there. I informed her that I've been here last week for the same thing and it wasn't scanned previously and another associate looked in the back of the store and located my package. She continued to argue that it's not here if it's not been scanned without any attempt to look for my package. At this time I asked for a manager which she replies I am the Manager. After informing her over and over again and showing her my phones UPS App saying it is at this store. And her challenging me "where I got my confirmation from", she FINALLY turns around and actually looks in the cabinet. "How big is the package" she says "It's a small package" I replied She then turns around with this disgusted look on her face and say "how big is small" as if I measured the package I have yet to receive... After 45 SECONDS OF LOOKING, she finds my package and tries to excuse her bad customer service by saying the box "should have been scanned" and it's "supposed to get scanned" TO HERSELF!! Never directly talking to me just repeating these statement to herself, not once looking me in my face to say "I was wrong." When I'm reality if she would have taken 45 SECONDS to ACTUALLY look for it she would have found it without embarrassing me WHILE holding up a line of people. I can't imagine how many people have been turned away and had to make unnecessary trips to this location because she couldn't be bothered to actually do her job. For a manager, this is extremely unprofessional and baffling that she rather argue than make the SMALLEST ATTEMPT to help a customer. From start to finish, the interaction I had with this lady was completely rude and disrespectful. I hope I never have to deal with this person ever again and I will for now on be requesting help from anyone but her. Do better. read more

COVID CESSPOOL! DO NOT ENTER IF YOU VALUE YOUR HEALTH! Two customers standing behind us in checkout. One not wearing a mask; the other with mask under nostrils. We asked them to socially distance and pull up/put on their masks. They refused and became verbally abusive. We asked for a manager. After many minutes an employee came up from the back and asked the women to properly wear masks. THEY REFUSED! The employee told us that they could not force the women to wear masks. I left the store, leaving my wife in line. I called the Howard County Health Department. They advised that calling the non-emergency police number for the county should have been done. After the fact, no report can be filed. The Howard County Health Department advised that I call Michaels Corporate Office today. A very nice woman called me back and told me that they could do nothing to enforce the mandate but that employees are stationed to advise and hand out masks. None of this was happening in the store. NONE OF THIS IS GOOD ENOUGH! The women should have been told to leave the store. The Howard County Health Department is aggressive in enforcing the mandate and have closed other retail stores in Howard County for violations. I will NEVER go into a Michaels again and will take this as far as I can. In the meantime, no matter how important decorating your door, lawn or tree is to you, order online from a company that supports your health. read more

I adore any Michael's I walk into, but this particular location has blown me away numerous times. It's such a large store and offers a bigger variety than most Michael's in the area. I'm a painter--- so more often than not I can be found roaming the canvas and paint isles. Everything is very clearly laid out and organized in an easy-to-find way. They have an entire wall of sketch books that are organized by brand and size. They have canvases from 4x4 to ones that could take up the whole space of my garage door! The staff is knowledgeable and hospitable. I never feel as though I'm asking a dumb question! The cashier's are humorous and ready to ensure a fun exit. This is by far my favorite Michael's, and I've been to nearly a dozen over the past ten years! The staff, organization of the products, location of the building, they all come together to create a wonderful atmosphere for creative shopping. 10/10! read more

I like the actual store because it has a variety of crafting items. There's always at least one coupon you can use here. There are a few people who work here that are very nice and helpful. That being said, there are plenty of annoyed or snobby cashiers. It would be nicer if they'd stop sighing every time I asked a question or if I wanted to use my phone to have them scan a coupon. How about not interrogating my husband and I when we want to use two credit cards to purchase items so we can use two coupons? We ARE two separate people! read more

Columbia, MD store: Worst customer service. Every. Single. Time. I always shop at HOBBY LOBBY, because the staff at Michael's are never helpful and the checkout line is always so long. I went there today -only- to accompany my mother. No one asked if we needed help the entire time. When we asked for help the girl could offer no answers about products or options. As we were shopping the same girl started ripping the sale signs off of the section we were in. We asked "Why?" and she replied with "Ugh, because we have to. The sale is over." Meanwhile her coworker walks by laughing. We asked if the sale was ending now, because it was only 7:30pm, and she rolled her eyes saying "No, it goes until close. The sales change tomorrow." And as we were talking about it she literally walked away! Meanwhile the checkout line is backed up to the middle of the store with one register open. Finally a guy who was stocking and actually DOING his job came up to relieve the line. Absolutely ridiculous, that these two staffers would rather walk around and bounce balls than help customers or their fellow employees. I called several times to check on the status and no one ever called me back. It took them over a month to get it back to me. When they finally did, it was still a sloppy job. Not dog-friendly like it was last year. I had to make a quick return and was stopping by the petsmart across the road in the other shopping center, which is obviously pet friendly. So I decided to bring my dog with me assuming that both places were friendly - I got stopped by a Michael's employee who told me dogs weren't allowed inside even before I even made it in the doors. They should have signs posted up if dogs aren't allowed at certain Michael's. As mentioned before last year, I was able to go into the store no problem with my dog. I will never return to this Michael's again just because I had to lock my dog in my hot car for approximately 10 mins just to make a return. What a bunch of jerks. read more

I love this store! They have an endless supply of craft products. I could spend days looking at all the options. They have coupons all the time, and their prices aren't too bad to begin with. I've shopped there twice, both times the customer service was horrible. The checkout line always seems to stretch to the middle of the store, then when you actually get to the counter they are super rude. The first time I put my hand-basket down on the counter and the cashier refused to ring anything up until I emptied the basket for him and then walked over to the door and put the basket away! Why don't I just work the register too while I'm at it? The second time I got a lecture from the cashier because I said "credit" but then put used debit when it wasn't clear on the pad how to get to credit.
