Their app has a feature that allows you to scan an item with your phone to see the price. But at checkout, the item rang up 10% higher. I showed the cashier my phone where I had price checked the item and was told sorry, that's the online price not the in-store price. But if I'm scanning a bar code, I'm obviously holding the item in a store. Was told sorry, that's the online price. I asked, couldn't the app tell I was in a store since I scanned an actual item? If I were scanning an item from home, I obviously already bought it. Only option to get the lower price would be to go home, order online, have an employee take the time to find the item and process the online order, then drive back to the store to pick up the next day. I purchased an oversize canvas for my dining room from an artist in Israel. Because of its size it arrived rolled in a tube. Took it to Michael's to be stretched, mounted and framed. Dana assisted me, going over my options and making suggestions how it might work best in the room. She was more than patient, polite and quite helpful. I made my selection and their graphics computer was able to print a simulation so I could see the finished product before finalizing my decision. She also arranged for delivery since it was way too large fit in my truck. I was quoted two weeks for completion and delivery and exactly 2 weeks after I dropped it off it arrived. I'm thrilled with the results and quality of the work. Looks amazing I thought the price was more than reasonable. Thank you Michael's and especially Dana for all your help. Kudos. read more

There's a wide variety of products available. The employees are polite and helpful. The embroidery floss, which i regularly purchase, isn't fully stocked whenever i go here. It's a bit frustrating. The curbside pickup is efficient as is the order ahead and pickup in store. read more

I'm a Hobby Lobby fan! But sometimes HL can be a bit overwhelming; especially during the holidays! I've found that Michaels offers some of the same items as HL, just in a smaller quantity and without all of the chaos. I normally only visit this store during Christmas time and it's always a great experience for me. The store is smaller than others, but neatly packed with everything you'll need to deck the halls! There's always a sale, and some type of coupon online for you to save a little bit more. They also offer 15% off for seniors, military & educators which is amazing! I've always found the staff to be friendly and helpful, although I take my time and search for what I want without asking someone to get it for me. The staff all wear masks and there's sanitizer available for you to use. Don't feel safe going in the store!? They do curbside pick up! The shelves can be bare and they seem to never been on the floor to assist if you have questions, but if you know what you want and don't need something particularly hard to find or unique, this is a fine place to pick up things. I knit, craft, and do all kinds of household decor projects, so this is truly a solid one-stop shop to get everything I need along the way. I had so much fun at Michael's the other day we are working on a few decoration pieces for my sister's graduation party and I needed some floral arrangements for the tables and let me tell you this store has absolutely everything and more. I really recommend this location it is very big and it has lots of specials that one cab take lots of advantage from. WOW floral arrangements were 50% offs so a few pieces that were 15 and 20 only cost half of its original price now the best part of this place was their coupon I bought a couples of pieces for 25%-50% off that was a great help. I will go to their website and check for their local coupons they really help specially if you have a big project or event coming up. Next project will be a straw clutch bag they got everything and all the decorations. Straw bags are in right now but the problem is that they are very expensive at michaels you can make your own and add any accessories that you want for a low price. Why am I reviewing Michaels? Because as a man, I was skeptical of what to expect at a "crafts store". I was figuring to find some markers, an easel and some paint...I was wrong. This is my go-to arts and crafts store when I am in the Morris/Essex county area. It's huge, well organized, and has a diverse product inventory all year round. Michaels' seasonal stock is usually always great, too (e.g. large selection of Winter/Christmas wreaths and decorations). The staff are friendly and are able (and willing) to answer your arts 'n crafts questions. I've been to other Michaels and this is the best one in North Jersey. Excuses, excuses. That's what I was given over the course of 2 1/2 weeks for a simple framing job. This store has more reasons for it's failure to deliver as promised. Worst experience ever! I purchased something and the price came out wrong. Brenden the cashier said he will honor the price this one time. However, the items are either misplaced or the price should be honored. Isn't the customer always right? Brenden made a comment and said "You must not have ever work in retail before". That comment was uncalled for. As a matter of fact I have work in retail all my life and dealt with loss prevention the whole works. I'd never go back to this location. The lines are always long and clearly Brenden was impatient or had an issue with honor a price that clearly was wrong ( price or misplaced ). That is not the customers problem. I'm a big fan of Michaels Stores. I've found the folks in the picture framing department at the East Hanover location to be extremely friendly and helpful and I am always able to find art supplies for the creative minds in my family. My most recent visit was motivated by a desire to buy an art project for a niece of mine for Christmas. Although they stock plenty of out of the box projects for the kids, such as pot holder or friendship bracelet makers, they also stock plenty of paints, brushes, glues, and in my case, wooden doll houses for the kids to put together and paint. That was my preference over the somewhat cheap feeling pre-packaged projects. So if you've got the time to be a little creative with your shopping for the creative, take some time and walk around a bit. You may be able to put some fun little projects together for the kids in your family to have some fun with! read more

Think twice about doing curbside pickup here. Don't call and press 3 like the directions on the email say and don't bother parking at the curbside designated parking. I called 3 times, was out on hold and hung up on. After 40 minutes I finally got into the line of cars waiting, it makes no sense. They also only have 1 person running orders. Their custom framing department does do a great job but the salespeople are rude and do not honor discounts. Previously, when purchasing frames at other Michael stores they were willing to honor whatever promotion was happening at pick-up. I went to pick up the frame 1 week after placing the order only to find it was 60% off. I asked if I could have that promotion since my valid coupon was rejected the week before. I was met with attitude. I wouldn't mind if this was their rule but as this store is one of a chain I think their should be some consistency and customer service training. Although the store itself is great, I signed up for a class and the instructor was a "no show." I understand she told the AnyRoad people (parent company or administrators of Michalel's?) 3 days earlier she couldn't make it but they never told the store or the enrollees. Have tried for a MONTH to get a refund for the fee from AnyRoad without success. Wasted my time going to the non-class and even more time trying to get a refund. Store manager, Danielle, was nice and apologetic on day of no-show class, but referred us to AnyRoad for refunds. THEY ARE A USELESS bunch. Don't even get the courtesy of a response (7 attempts to contact them), am just ignored! They are really making me think twice about using the store and I may have to become an A C Moore fan as a result even though they are further away. read more

Wow, it is a treasure hunt for my first visit today. I never thought any shop are still selling play clay, like the one we had 40 years ago. Michael has many unpainted product, such as photo frame, small hand crafts box, small toys. There are also DIY paintings, wool, fabric, etc. For handy work or school project, this is the one place to get all. As many other mentioned, there are many frame work options here, some are on sale( buy one get one free). Staff can help you order customized frames as well. Unfortunately, one third of shop are stuffed with Halloween toys and I cannot wait to come back to see what they have in the coming holiday season. read more

This store is awesome for arts and crafts, frames and seasonal merchandise. While I am not a super crafty person, I have found many things here that make me feel like I am. It's also good for quick little kids gifts like stocking stuffers and such. Their custom framing department is very good - I have gotten numerous pictures and collectibles framed here and have always been pleased with the work and timeliness in which I get my work back. Did you know that Michaels has classes in knitting and crocheting? I didn't either I just found out and have been taking some knitting classes there. The knitting instructor is really great and was very patient with our class. Can't believe I was able to knit after one class. There maybe be 5 or 6 people in line and then they open up another register. Instead of helping whose next, they just take anyone coming up. No consideration for those waiting. My sister and I have been here at least 8 times in the last year and received friendly help only twice. Every other time we were treated rudely, or like we were stupid. They do not honor coupons sometimes even though they are within date and give no reason as to why they weren't accepting it, they never answer the phone, and when two exact items (SKUs were identical, too) were ringing up at two different prices, the cashier just shrugged and said, "That's the way it's gonna be," and refused to honor the lower item / shelf price. read more
