I stopped by Michael's Muffins at 12:58 PM, and unfortunately my first experience was disappointing. I greeted the older woman who came from the back, but she didn't respond, and I immediately felt unwelcome, like I wasn't going to receive service. She then mentioned whether the cook would turn the grill back on, which only added to the discomfort. Based on her tone and body language, I decided it was best to leave rather than stay in an environment that didn't feel inviting. What really stood out to me was what happened next. While sitting in my car, I saw another customer a white male walk in a few minutes later at 1:01 PM. He was greeted with a smile, positive energy, and a completely different attitude than what I experienced. I came in respectful and calm, so the difference in treatment was hard to ignore so what else could it be? Besides my race?? and honestly that is what raised concerns for me. But my life has been a lie-- what I really needed was Michael's English Muffins with their pillowy thickness that makes me crave them more than the average bagel. This reflects how good their English muffins are despite me getting the wrong muffin for my sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich. They had run out of turkey bacon an hour before closing, so that sweet/savory sandwich on the menu must be pretty popular. They were also all out of bags of original flavor English muffins, but we ended up quite happy with the 4-pack of sweet potato cinnamon. Service was polite, and there was plenty of parking was available in the shared lot. We enjoyed watching another small batch getting worked on at the plancha behind the counter. We'll absolutely be back for rosemary olive English muffins and to try more sandwiches. After seeing this place on TikTok I decided to give them a try because my son and I LOVE English muffins. All I can say is that my kids and I were blown away! I expected there to be a long wait but going early in the morning in the middle of the week prevented that from happening for me. The owner or possibly manager of the business stated that Saturdays are really busy. The employees were pleasant. There are tables to dine inside of the business and a shared parking lot out front. Came on a thursday morning 9 am, no wait at all. I love how you can see the muffins being made right there! I purchased a sweet potato cinnamon bag to take home and a coffee + the originator to dine in, the coffee was freshly made and good quality, they also have 3 torani syrups for free (cinnamon, caramel, and toasted marshmallow) the sandwich was a 10/10 perfect kick from the pimento cheese and the sausage had a very homey hand made feel it didn't taste like a generic a frozen patty. Went by for the much talked about breakfast sandwiches. I got the BEC and mom got the SEC. And I also got the potatoes. Both sandwiches were good, but a bit greasy. The potatoes were very greasy but well seasoned. Now let's talk about the English muffins. I love the variety of flavors. I mean, who doesn't want a sweet potato English muffin? All the flavors are good. If you like a denser English muffin you'll like these. More biscuit like to me. I personally like a bit thinner EM and I love the nooks and crannies in a Thomas's EM. But these were tasty and very good as well. Service was good and pretty quick. The cashier was very helpful in making suggestions. The place is small but has adequate seating. They also have muffins packaged to go. Now here's where I dinged them. A 4 pack of EM were $9.50!!! You read it right. I think it's too high for bread, but that's just me. This and the greasiness of the food accounts for the 4 stars. And they don't have a variety pack which they should since there are a variety of flavors. It's good, not great, but it has changed my perspective on English Muffins. These taste nothing like the ones in the store: they're much lighter and have much more olive oil or butter in the recipe. It's like having a mix of a delicious bagel with really good spreads or fillings. We like to get a SEC and BEC each and then split a sweet one - they'll sometimes have a cookie butter one. I had enjoyed MEM at The Optimist coffee shop several times and had always enjoyed them. With an Offline Raleigh offer I needed to their brick and mortar store. Upon entering, you're greeted by what feels like a mix of a Five Guys (perhaps that's what was here previously?) and a Cracker Barrel. There are 5 or so tables with several chairs at each, and a few displays where you can buy jams, English muffins to go, honey, etc. The menu is a good mix of meaty sandwiches and those on the sweet side. There are also sodas, juice and coffee available. I will say that my order, In Da Club, was a bit smaller than I expected. While good - and very messy - I didn't leave feeling full. The employees were mostly friendly, but I will probably stick to getting their English muffins at The Optimist where they're packed full of egg, sausage and cheese. read more

This cute little spot is very close to our home so we decided to give it a try. Everything tasted very good, except there is a hint of bitterness with the original muffins from the maybe burnt/toasted seeds? Other than that, the muffins had an amazing crispy touch to the top & bottom. I am really in love with the Biscoff cookie butter! This is a local bakery that is in walking distance from my house. I have been here multiple times to get some freshly baked English muffins. You can even watch them bake them right there. Well, I shouldn't say baked, as they are not baked in an oven, but cooked on top of a griddle like a pancake. I will say that they are nice and thick, not like the think ones you get at the store. I've tried the bacon, egg and cheese on an original muffin, and I've also bought some of the everything muffins at a farmers market to make breakfast sandwiches at home (pictured). Cute little shop, hidden behind Starbucks. I had no idea this place existed, but glad I came upon it. The English muffins are outstanding - firm on the outside and soft inside. I was sad they were out of their sweet potato flavor, but I opted for tomato and avocado on an Everything muffin. I will say that the avocado didn't seem fresh, tasted more like an avocado spread which isn't my fav, hence the 4 stars instead of 5. I definitely still recommend this place. These are hands down the best English Muffins you will ever eat! No doubt. These will make you question why you EVER bought those store thin ones. Seriously if you have guests over and want to make them the best breakfast ever...pick up some of these ($8 for four of them)...toast them up, make a breakfast sandwich out of them or use them as a hamburger bun...options are endless for these beauties. This is in a small strip mall in North Raleigh off Capitol Boulevard. You can get your muffins to go or have them make you a sandwich to eat in or take out. My most recent morning visit had me enjoying a Sweet Potato Cinnamon English Muffin toasted with light honey butter. I tried to control myself, but honestly the whole thing was in my belly before by the time I drove the couple miles to work. Keep in mind if you get an item they have to prepare, allow a few minutes for it to be made/toasted, etc. This is not fast food junk. They are doing it right. I had such high hopes. Based on reviews and the website. And a friend who had eaten them at another venue. However it was like a trip to sponge bobs opposite land. The muffins were saturated in hot grease or oil representational of butter. Not toasted before assembling. Sliced not fork split. Slimy butter process when served on site which ruined the freshly made muffin. Dire. And unnecessary fouls for a good product. While one of the staff was nice, the other made us feel like we had pulled into a dive bar where we did not belong..I could hear her "git back in yer car you uppity outsiders" thoughts loud and clear. She wouldn't barely look at us. I had considered buying a big ole' bag of take out muffins but her attitude was sooo bad...it made me feel reluctant to even inquire if she would let me take them out of the store with me.
