Our extended family let es these cakes. Lactose intolerant me pops a pill and indulges. Albeit it's a small piece considering it's a tres leche (three milk). The cake is a sponge that has a milky sweet flavor, moist sponge but not soggy. They have different frosting flavors. I've tried the chocolate, vanilla, and a coffee tasting frosted tres leches cakes. Mmm. The cakes are a visual work of art. So darn pretty. The design varies. The cake decorating looks professional. They also sell cookies. Yum! Those little sweet apple filled empanadas are quite tasty as well. I've never stepped foot into their shop. So don't know what the neighborhood and parking situation is like.

The chocolate and pb pocket tasted like dish soap or sweet perfume and for whatever reason, when packaging the hot cocoa (they're topped with melted marshmallow) they packaged them on top of one another with paper in between so the bottom six were stuck to the paper. I texted to give a suggestion that they package them separately and sent a pic and the response was "thanks for the suggestion"...no apology or offer to replace. Customer service kinda sucks. Also...don't plan on saving some for the next day as these things harden to a rock overnight and they taste worse the next day.

I was informed that they were meant to be eaten right away, which they were. They also said that their quality control was foolproof and that their "executive" chef doesn't make mistakes. Wrong and wrong! They might have something decent if they can get the recipe right. I expected my complaint to get an apology and a replacement. The cake was moist, flavorful, and the strawberry filling was delicious, which is why we decided to order a 6 inch birthday cake for $90. Unfortunately the first custom cake was extremely dry. Nobody at the birthday party wanted to eat it, which was disappointing considering the price. We contacted the bakery, and to their credit they offered to remake the cake, which I genuinely appreciated. When we picked up the remake, the cake box had been taped shut and the frosting had smashed onto the top of the box, so I had to scrape frosting off the lid and put it back onto the cake myself. It wasn't a huge deal since it was just for family, but it didn't feel very carefully handled. The bigger issue was that the remake still wasn't made correctly. The original order was white cake with fresh strawberries and strawberry filling/purée in the middle. The remake had fresh strawberries but regular frosting filling instead. The cake itself was much better this time and not dry, but it still wasn't what we ordered. I do appreciate that they tried to fix the mistake, and their individual cake slices and cupcakes are honestly really good. But after receiving one dry cake and then a remake that was made incorrectly and packaged carelessly, I don't think I'd order another special occasion cake from here again.

If you've heard about the quaint local Stockton Whimsy Market, you would know that Nika and her small business that consists of her adorable family, have a booth regularly at this market. I set out to go to the next one lined up and when I arrived I made a beeline for her booth. You know something lives up to it's hype if the lines are long! To be honest, waiting in line added to the anticipation of trying out the lineup she had that evening. Her husband was the one taking orders and not only was he kind but he made great small talk. It was a nice added personal touch. I'm all about community and getting to know people so when people take the time to greet you and chat, it goes a long way. I went home with their Best Selling Award Winning Ube White Chocolate Blondie. I've been hooked ever since. Did you know that she also makes custom cakes? No? Well now you do! Nika is an absolute sweetheart! I was so nervous to reach out to her on IG for my daughter's birthday cake. I had spoken to her on IG here and there before asking and was pleasantly surprised that she's the type of small business to engage with her followers. It made it a lot easier for me to ask if she would do me the honor of making my daughters 1st professionally made themed birthday cake for her 3rd birthday. Of course she agreed and she was so wonderful during the whole process of listening to what I had envisioned for the design, whilst also giving me great ideas and even had her friend also make a beautiful cake topper for it. I went for a classic chocolate cake with a swiss meringue butter cream and it was a hit at my daughter's party!
