Since there is a sweet and sour mix in them I went for a white wine instead and it was perfect for the day. We ordered our drinks and chips and guacamole to get started while we looked at the menu. Our server was super and we sat on the patio in the shade which was lovely. There was plenty of shade for the hot day. To stave off our hunger while we looked at the menu we ordered the chips and salsa with guacamole. The salsa was fabulous as was the rest but I had to comment on the salsa because so often these days it's just too tomato-y or bland. This was flavorful and had a bit of spice. For dinner, we ordered the steak tampiquena and I would get it again. Savory, perfectly cooked and hearty. Check this place out if you are visiting!

The enchiladas consisted of small hard bits of meat scattered through a soupy mix of shredded cheese and watery red sauce. I understand that this restaurant has a storied past, and was previously a favorite stop for many former governors. But I fear those days are long past.

Fantastic! And a tremendous value. We dropped off mom on the side (she is handicapped) as there really isn't a front side where you can drop off anyone. Our server was so genuinely nice though and provided excellent service and she went above as well as she noticed us dropping mom off via the cameras and told us we could go out through the side entrance. Would I be back? Most likely not as I had mentioned above that this place has never been one of my favorites but I am sure I am in the minority. The shrimp and the vegetable appetizers were kind of ehhh. I did love the green chile stew. The enchiladas were good but nothing special. I also got a paloma and it was strong. Definitely tasted mezcal but not much of the other flavors. Also, they corrected their mistake but I did call in a reservation. It took three phone calls on two different days. The person who picked up took my reservation but apparently did NOT record it in their reservation book. When we got there our reservation was no where to be found and even worse, the hostess said this had been happening a few times but they didn't know who was taking these reservations and not writing them down. Now if it was a one off, I'm just unlucky, but if you're telling me it's an issue, I think it's something management should really work harder on solving. The hostess was nice enough to be like you'll be our first priority for seating if any reservations don't show up and we were able to get a table fairly quickly which I really do appreciate. Other than that one staff issue with the reservation, the other staff were all amazing and our waitress came by a few times to check in on us and her and other staff came around to refill water.
