Blue Corn Piñon Pancakes and a cup of menudo with red chile and posole.
    Roger P.

I have always loved La Cocina and supporting local businesses, but I will not be coming back after verbal abuse my child and her mother experienced.. This morning my daughter and her mother went in for breakfast. My daughter had her heart set on French Toast for some reason, and when they asked if it can be made they were told no. Which is fine, a lot of places won't make things that aren't on the menu. My daughter and her mother at that time decided they wanted to go somewhere else, as French toast was really what she was in the mood for. As they were leaving, an employee loudly said "oh the white girls are leaving because we don't have French toast." That is totally unacceptable. This is a 12 year old child you're insulting (who is half Hispanic, by the way). We frequently did online orders for breakfast burritos there and I occasionally dined in when I had friends in town, but this stops today. Would give 0 stars if it was an option. I'm very disappointed in this restaurant and members of my local community that could be this way.

Authentic. Friendly. Delicious. La cocina was one of our favorite restaurants on out trip thru Colorado and NM. I had the Carne Adovado and eggs. The adovada was loaded with tender pork and delivered alot of chili flavor without overheating. The building was big and clean. The service was the best we have had in a long time. The server was fantastic.

Kind and quick staff. Very nice music and cozy decor. There are always a lot of customers, but I have never had to wait long. Love the red and green chile here! Huevos rancheros, breakfast burritos, and taco salads are some of my favorites!

So I am told this is the place to eat, but they make you wait forever. The place is large you would think they could accommodate one person. Seems like a nice place. Lots of empty tables but they are not seating. So I have finally got a seat, there is an entire section that is empty. About 30 people wait they could have sat them. Glad that as soon as I sat down someone took my order. I wanted the Posole, hope it is good. Waitress is top notch, didn't even ask for more ice tea, she showed up with it. That I like. So I ordered posole red. It has a good taste, had better. Some of the hominy was not cooked well enough, maybe they were getting low and added some hominy. All in all don't know if I would come back here for posole.

Delicious! Never disappointed when we go. The enchiladas were so good, definitely ordering again Our waiter was friendly and informed us right away there would be a delay in getting our food. Which we appreciated. The dessert case is filled with some tempting options but we are always too full to have. The dia de los muertos display is a sweet reminder.

The multi-roomed restaurant has rustic New Mexican decor. It was quiet for a Sunday morning, and the huevos rancheros were incredible! Egg over easy cooked perfectly, corn tortillas nicely crisped, flavorful beans, and fantastic green chile! I'm so glad we picked this gem of a restaurant for brunch on this trip!!

Authentic New Mex! Had the stacked shredded beef enchiladas w blue corn tortillas and red and green chilies. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable.

This was BFF's first time here and he loved it. Both he and mom ordered the carne adovada plate which came with refried beans and rice (they did state that the red chile was too spicy though). I ordered a bean and cheese burrito with both red and green chile (Xmas style). It was ok but 16 bucks for this was too expensive. We also ordered a margarita each and they were also just ok and too expensive at 13 bucks each. As for the parking, it is kind of confusing but there is plenty of (unmarked) spots and kind of like a maze. We dropped off mom on the side (she is handicapped) as there really isn't a front side where you can drop off anyone. Our server was so genuinely nice though and provided excellent service and she went above as well as she noticed us dropping mom off via the cameras and told us we could go out through the side entrance. Would I be back? Most likely not as I had mentioned above that this place has never been one of my favorites but I am sure I am in the minority. I hear it is quite the place to be seen (for happy hour).

My mother had tried this place for the first time last month and really enjoyed it, so while visiting my hometown this past weekend, I told her I wanted to try it as well, and so glad I did! I was a little apprehensive to go any later than 1pm (closes at 3pm) as I don't like to patronize any restaurant so close to quittin' time in order to not feel rushed; however, although it was fairly busy, we were seated promptly and our food came out quickly! Speaking of food, our meal was great and portioned perfectly (not too big, not too small). My go to is usually a stuffed sopaipilla with ground beef or just beans and cheese; however, I decided to try the two tamale plate and was not disappointed! I chose red chile and it was spicy and flavorful and the tamales weren't dry at all. My mom ordered the flautas plate and they were HUGE as she could only eat 1.5 (I ate the remainder at home lol). My bestie wasn't in the mood for NM food so he ordered breakfast (chicken fried steak and eggs) and said it was very good. The complimentary sopaipillas were the BEST! I even complimented our server Javier (whom my mom pointed out used to be the mayor of Espanola) that they were spot on! As for service, it was excellent, and as I noted above, Javier (owner) was awesome! Very friendly, personable, efficient, with a sense of humor. Will definitely be my "go to" native NM restaurant when visiting back home.
