Frito Pie, once I remembered to take the photo.
    Dan W.

My family has dined here a few times and raved about it, now I see why. We've been traveling and honestly I was tired and didn't want to drive into Espanola for dinner, but was pushed into it. Not very hungry, I ordered a Frito Pie (what I consider a small dish that is always ok, but nothing special. ) First, this came with a large bowl of beans and ground beef in the best red chile I've ever tasted. After over eating at the restaurant, I brought half of this dish home for another meal. My wife had a small ground beef stuffed sopapilla with green chile. She said it was excellent and also had leftovers. My daughter had the Enchiladas Especial with Christmas and said it was outstanding as well. Dinner finished with three large and delicious sopapillas and honey. Service was excellent, the ambiance of the restaurant comfortable and relaxing. I can imagine there may be times we will drive up from Albuquerque just for a truly amazing New Mexican meal.

Authentic. Friendly. Delicious. La cocina was one of our favorite restaurants on out trip thru Colorado and NM. I had the Carne Adovado and eggs. The adovada was loaded with tender pork and delivered alot of chili flavor without overheating. The building was big and clean. The service was the best we have had in a long time. The server was fantastic.

Kind and quick staff. Very nice music and cozy decor. There are always a lot of customers, but I have never had to wait long. Love the red and green chile here! Huevos rancheros, breakfast burritos, and taco salads are some of my favorites!

So I am told this is the place to eat, but they make you wait forever. The place is large you would think they could accommodate one person. Seems like a nice place. Lots of empty tables but they are not seating. So I have finally got a seat, there is an entire section that is empty. About 30 people wait they could have sat them. Glad that as soon as I sat down someone took my order. I wanted the Posole, hope it is good. Waitress is top notch, didn't even ask for more ice tea, she showed up with it. That I like. So I ordered posole red. It has a good taste, had better. Some of the hominy was not cooked well enough, maybe they were getting low and added some hominy. All in all don't know if I would come back here for posole.

Delicious! Never disappointed when we go. The enchiladas were so good, definitely ordering again Our waiter was friendly and informed us right away there would be a delay in getting our food. Which we appreciated. The dessert case is filled with some tempting options but we are always too full to have. The dia de los muertos display is a sweet reminder.

Authentic New Mex! Had the stacked shredded beef enchiladas w blue corn tortillas and red and green chilies. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable.

The multi-roomed restaurant has rustic New Mexican decor. It was quiet for a Sunday morning, and the huevos rancheros were incredible! Egg over easy cooked perfectly, corn tortillas nicely crisped, flavorful beans, and fantastic green chile! I'm so glad we picked this gem of a restaurant for brunch on this trip!!

    Stuffed Sopaipilla. To die for.

The best food I have ever had. We had a little wait, I would have wanted an hour to eat here. Our waiter was busy but still managed to take care of us. Highly recommend. When back in New Mexico I will eat here again.

Great fun waitress. Fajitas are good tasting and a lot of food. Sopaipillas served with mains and were delicious.

Dessert and drinks are always my favorite part here, especially the natillas (like an horchata…read morepudding.) I prefer those over the flan. The kids love the arroz con pollo soup. Fajitas are always a hit. I got the taco combo plate this last time and had to take most of it to go as the portions are huge and a little greasy, but everything was delicious. Service is always great even when we come in with 10-20 people. It can be a little cramped, but they accommodate our huge parties. Bathrooms are nice and clean.

I hadn't been here in years (17 to be exact). To be honest, I have never been in love with this…read moreplace as I find the food to be mediocre but the ambience is nice (more of an upscale dining experience) so I get why people like it here. This was BFF's first time here and he loved it. Both he and mom ordered the carne adovada plate which came with refried beans and rice (they did state that the red chile was too spicy though). I ordered a bean and cheese burrito with both red and green chile (Xmas style). It was ok but 16 bucks for this was too expensive. We also ordered a margarita each and they were also just ok and too expensive at 13 bucks each. As for the parking, it is kind of confusing but there is plenty of (unmarked) spots and kind of like a maze. We dropped off mom on the side (she is handicapped) as there really isn't a front side where you can drop off anyone. Our server was so genuinely nice though and provided excellent service and she went above as well as she noticed us dropping mom off via the cameras and told us we could go out through the side entrance. Would I be back? Most likely not as I had mentioned above that this place has never been one of my favorites but I am sure I am in the minority. I hear it is quite the place to be seen (for happy hour).
