Steak salad might have a different name but it's a steak salad. Raspberry dressing was yummy

Came here for dinner twice during our visit to Santa Fe. It has a diner vibe with large sections on the menu. Breakfast served all day and every thing Sopaipilla . If you're not familiar with sopaipilla, it's like beignet or fried bread... that sorta thing. Don't get bent out of shape if you don't like my explanation of Sopaipilla. Anyway, we never had to wait for a table and service was good. We had steak salad, chicken salad, menudo, tacos and their special dessert Sopaipilla with ice cream, strawberry and whipped cream, yum! That was the reason for coming back the 2nd time.

    Carne asada? Not really.

Came in on a Thursday night for carne asada. Was not overly impressed. Turns out to be strips of beef laid on top of tortillas, as if they were meant for tacos. And although they refer to their beef as only the best quality, it really didn't taste that great. Almost had a liver taste to it. On the plus side, it did come with a side of hot sauce that killed the flavor of the meat and made it a bit better. Daughter got a chicken quesadilla, which was huge and packed full with cheese and meat. We had two margaritas, that were okay, but not great. The house made chips were excellent, salsa was just so-so. Also tried the signature sopaipilla. Now that was interesting and good, especially with their honey butter. Our server was friendly and reasonably fast. Could have had a second margarita, but never got the chance. The ambiance looks like this place used to be a Denny's. They do have some nice decorations inside that make it homey.

Would you drive 30 miles round trip just for stuffed sopaipilla? Place is listed as in Santa Fe , but is actually 15 miles out of in Pojoaque , in the boon docks, halfway to Los Alamos. In a shopping center, with plenty of parking, lots of windows, clean and open ambiance restaurant. Meeting a friend of my wife when she worked in Los Alamos 18 years. We each ordered the $13.75 stuffed sopaipilla, while friend ordered beef enchilada. Service is on the leisurely side. The stuffed sopaipilla was filled with chicken, rice and vegetables. Looked like a square enchilada 5" square. Combination went well together, especially when adding green chile to give it more spice. Ate it with a knife and fork as the sopaipilla was covered with a layer of melted cheese, and chile sauce. Dish came with a very small salad and cornbread. Friend's $13.75 enchilada dish came with two beef enchiladas, Mexican rice small salad of tomatoes, and pinto beans. Wife and I ate everything on our plates, but friend, lifetime New Mexico resident, still hasn't gotten used to pinto beans, leaving most of it. Dessert was fluffy sopaipilla with butter and honey. Loved the dough but not what it did for my waistline.

Friends were craving Sopiaipilla and we thought this was an actual factory, but it was a restaurant. The staff was friendly. We were able to enjoy some desserts for the kids. Their favorite was the sopaipilla with the cinnamon sugar.

Food here is pretty good but for me, it's all about their desserts and the Bloody Mary. Bloody Mary is nice and spicy. Fried rice cream and ice cream stuffed Sopapilla are amazing. Good place to stop on your way between Española and Santa Fe.

I personally didn't care for my sopapilla or the salsa, I found both to be very bland and the chicken tasted watery to me. The salsa tasted more of tomatoes than anything else, I probably would not go back to this restaurant. The atmosphere was nice and the service was great, I can't complain there.

Sopaipillas come with every entree. Puffy and soft and just a little bit salty. Delicious with some honey on top. The big combo plate was full of winners. Comes with a Chile Relleno (spicy, gooey and crispy all at once), a tamale (exceptional flavor and texture with a good heat), and a cheese enchilada (delicious blend of cheese and Chile). The pinto beans on the side were full of flavor. The rice was soft and moist. The Pueblo Taco was a delicious balance of flavor and textures. The chips and salsa were pretty good. The salsa was not spicy, but had large chunks of tomato and onion. Decor is family friendly and casual. Service was a bit rough when we went but they were short staffed so I won't hold it against them.

We stop here every time we are in the area! Today I had the Cuyamungue It was delicious! Hot and fresh. Service was great.

I ordered stuffed sopapillas with beef and red and green chile and combo with chile relleno and enchilada with red sauce. Food was solid! Also enjoyed a side of sopapillas with honey butter. They were delicious, fluffy and light! It's more of a casual establishment, but I would definitely come here if I'm in the area in the future.

Plenty of parking available, the lot is level with plenty of handicap spots. They were busy, we were greeted and sat immediately. The stage is pleasant and cheery. We sat for maybe 5 minutes when our waiter came to our tablet, took our drink order. He came back with our drinks and took our food order. 8 minutes wait and our food was brought to our table, two stuffed sopaillas, and two additional dessert sopapillas. The food was as we ordered, my husband had a stuffed sopapilla, beef and bean with green chile. I had a stuffed sopapilla with refried beans and green chile. Tasted like home made to us. The sopapillas are fresh, great size and so tasty. The Chile was not too hot, had a good flavor. We drank iced tea it was fresh brewed. They offer 9 vegetarian entrees. The price is fair, the portions are great, you won't go away hungry. If your hungry and want to leave full, this is the place to eat.

Definitely a find! It's a hole-in-the-wall place with authentic Mexican/New Mexican food. The chili relleno was outstanding, the chicken enchilada could have had a better balance in the placement of the chicken, but it was great too! The guacamole was one of the best I've ever had. Don't look for tourists here unless you're looking in the mirror. And don't be surprised by the innocuous interior. Inexpensive, a bargain at twice the price!

Not very hungry, I ordered a Frito Pie (what I consider a small dish that is always ok, but nothing special. ) First, this came with a large bowl of beans and ground beef in the best red chile I've ever tasted. After over eating at the restaurant, I brought half of this dish home for another meal. My wife had a small ground beef stuffed sopapilla with green chile. She said it was excellent and also had leftovers. My daughter had the Enchiladas Especial with Christmas and said it was outstanding as well. Dinner finished with three large and delicious sopapillas and honey. Service was excellent, the ambiance of the restaurant comfortable and relaxing. I can imagine there may be times we will drive up from Albuquerque just for a truly amazing New Mexican meal.

Finally we figured it had been put on the wrong side of the Main Street so we went the other way and ended up hungry and ready for a drink and dinner. The only negative is that I couldn't get a margarita other than the wine margaritas they have. Since there is a sweet and sour mix in them I went for a white wine instead and it was perfect for the day. We ordered our drinks and chips and guacamole to get started while we looked at the menu. Our server was super and we sat on the patio in the shade which was lovely. There was plenty of shade for the hot day. To stave off our hunger while we looked at the menu we ordered the chips and salsa with guacamole. The salsa was fabulous as was the rest but I had to comment on the salsa because so often these days it's just too tomato-y or bland. This was flavorful and had a bit of spice. I ordered a bean and cheese burrito with both red and green chile (Xmas style). It was ok but 16 bucks for this was too expensive. We also ordered a margarita each and they were also just ok and too expensive at 13 bucks each. As for the parking, it is kind of confusing but there is plenty of (unmarked) spots and kind of like a maze. We dropped off mom on the side (she is handicapped) as there really isn't a front side where you can drop off anyone. Our server was so genuinely nice though and provided excellent service and she went above as well as she noticed us dropping mom off via the cameras and told us we could go out through the side entrance. Would I be back? Most likely not as I had mentioned above that this place has never been one of my favorites but I am sure I am in the minority. I hear it is quite the place to be seen (for happy hour).
