Typical early June 110-degree day outside so I opted to pick up some art supplies for a new commissioned piece I'll be working on. Michaels has been one of my favorite stores for the last several years. This location is conveniently located right on the frontage road of the 101 wedged smack dab in the middle of everything. Tons of ample parking with parking spots that are plenty wide to alleviate door-dings. The store and their restrooms are very clean. Employees were everywhere this Sunday morning with all of them checking on me and asking if I needed any assistance. Yay! I headed back to the art section and grabbed what I needed and made my way up to the front of the store to check out. The store wasn't horribly busy and thus, I walked right up to the check out line. Gave the cashier the coupons I had (they let you double-dip at Michaels) so I got plenty of discounts. You don't ever and I do mean ever go into a Michaels store without first printing off coupons at home and/or showing the barcode to the cashier on your smartphone. Discounts and coupons are plentiful at Michaels and you're foolish if you're not taking advantage of them. At the bare minimum, you can usually get 40% off any one item and sometimes you can even get that amount off your entire purchase! It's a no-brainer. Use you coupons, people. My only very, very minor gripe is that apparently artists and others come to Michaels to steal their high-quality paint pens. The downfall is they have now begun locking these items up under lock and key. You need to track down an employee to unlock the cage for you to retrieve the item(s) and it's kind of a drag. I totally get it, but for those of us who do pay for the items we intend to purchase - it is a bit of a pain. Other than that, today's visit went off without a hitch just as they always do. I got the products I went in for and was in & out of the store in a matter of a few minutes. With the coupons and discounts and regular sale items, they will easily beat any online rate you can find and that includes Amazon. Melody at the Aqua Frea Michael's is not fit for management. On 12/14 at approximately I was returning an item on register 6 with a young lady wearing brown glasses (I wish I grabbed her name). However, she was having trouble voiding a transaction and she asked her "manager" melody for help a couple times however, she kept assuming what her question was and not letting her finish her sentence. Finally, Melody came over and I had to ask her to calm down because she was extremely out-rate and I tried to explain that the young lady didn't know how to do a void because she clearly wasn't listening to her. Then she pushed her towards the register and said "oh, this is something over already trained you on you should know how to do this." The young lady was able to figure it out and complete the return but, it was only bc a customer asked her to slow down and take a moment. However, she DID not show leadership, patience nor proper customer service in this moment and I'm ashamed for her. I hope this isn't the type of role models that your store hires because, this is not a place I would want my family or friends to shop or work for under this type of "management." I think some retraining for Melody would do her good.. or reconsider her as a role model. read more

This UPS access point is located inside Michaels. I came here to drop off my package. I have the label printed, it's just not taped to the package (box). The Michaels manager said she can't tape my label because UPS doesn't supply them with supplies. I'm super disappointed and very upset. They can't provide me some tape to tape my label and now I have to drive to another UPS store. It's a Michaels store, they can't provide me tape?! read more

Customer service at this location is terrible. I placed an online order, received email confirmation when order was fulfilled. When I went to pick up my order, employees couldn't find it and when they did... it was something entirely different. Said they were offering a substitute which was totally inferior to what I had purchased. Just boils down to poor customer service. Pretty standard location for the chain. This one is close to our house so we have ventured here a few times. They are also right next to a Target location, which is convenient. They have a bit of a different layout from the majority of the chain locations. The staff here is friendly and quick to get other cashiers up to the front if they see a line - which can be hit or miss at other locations. The store itself is clean and well-stocked with the usual variety of items for everything from scrap booking, painting, knitting / crocheting, and miscellaneous decor for a variety of occasions (wedding, showers, holidays, seasons, etc.). Overall: A- Good location for the chain. Layout is different than other locations, so be sure to read the aisle headers if looking for something specific. read more

I went all over today to try to find a frame for my poster I had bought. I went to the Michaels on 73rd Ave. off Bell and the guy in the framing department really didn't give a crap about what I needed. Then I went to this Michaels and I have to say what a difference. Melanie was fantastic and helped me every step of the way. I got an amazing price and she took her time helping me. I will never go to another Michaels. So tonigjt( Thursday night) I came to Michael's (store 9922) and I will never be returning to company. I have worried retail so I know how frustrating it is when people won't leave AFTER you close, however I wasn't even 3 minutes past ten and was going to spend 200 but because of the staff's attitude told them to forget about the big ticket items. Upon walking it, I was bluntly reminded it was 915 and they were t open past ten. I was looking for poppyseed oil and they didn't the reply was "if we had it, it would be in aisle ...." I stood there confused with a look like I guess I'll look it up on my Phone then. Only then a stafff member said yeah that's online only. I asked if I could order it for shipment and her reply was "yeah you just do that yourself" my next question was dry lavender and if they had it and she looked maybe 30 seconds for the product and said "no sorry that's probably online too" I spent 45 mins browsing and by 940 they dimmed all the lights so I couldn't see and made it obvious they wanted the customers out. I went to checkout and was greeted, or for thst matter not greeted by the cashier. My attempts at any small talk were met with a look of annoyance and not once did she engage with me. Then I left and forgot I had a 40% off so I quickly dodged back in and got eye rolls. I said I'm sorry I talked to (thenmale emoloyee) about it and forgot to use it. I was met with another sassy remark "I didn't get a coupon from you. So that's why no coupon was used. I finally said "look , I get It. Before I was a nurse I worked at jcpenney and there's nothing worse than people. Coming in late but I put on my Smile and made them feel welcome. I have felt Nothing but unwelcome here the entire time, to which she STILL refused to speak to me or Engage. She just continued staring at her computer. It made me feel like I wasn't valued, and honestly if these are the type of employees you hire I would rather not surround myself with that. I went in to purchase a few items for a crafty that my 4-year-old daughter and I could do together. The plan was to make her a little bracelet with the letters that spelled out her nickname that her father, who recently passed away, always called her. I had already purchased the sterling silver Block letter beads online. However, I was looking to purchase some Swarovski crystal beads in three or more different colors, A bead storage container since they were marked down, 40% off, as well as any other essential supplies recommended for a bracelet that would be intended to fit my four-year-old daughter. I cannot say anything kind regarding the staff on Saturday evening including Meg, Shane ( which was a female), as well as Taylor. I felt bad for Taylor because she was truly appearing to try to help me locate the items I had asked Meg to find before Meg just pointed out at kit and went on her merry way without answering any of my questions. Which was completely ridiculous since I was straightforward with my questions about what I was looking for and where to find it but it's unfortunate that her inability to help a customer ultimately caused me to not be able to purchase the products that I was looking for. When I entered I did a quick look around to find the items I was looking for and up in the very front isle I had noticed that there was a promotion going on, (that would be ending that night since the new deals and promotions start on Sunday and I game on the Saturday night). The promotion was on craft storage supplies and was 40% off all craft storage, I believe (but I could be mistaken on the persentage (meaning it could have been 50% OFF instead of 40% but that's not the point). When I had asked the ladies working if the bead storage was a part of the craft storage promotional sale I was given the answer of quotation I don't know "which I don't know about you but I think that's kind of down right bullshit! And set of saying I don't know how about you say let me check on that. Because then I ultimately had to go walk over to the sign at the front of the store and see what was a part of the sale so I could get that selected product that was for sure a part of the sale/promotion. For me to walk towards the front of the store with the sprain ankle took more time than I needed to, and cause more pain than I wanted to deal with. Which could've been avoided if they simply had offered to chat for me however they didn't!! When inquiring about whom the store manager was, as well as to the district manager was, I started to get seven the information from Shane who was furious with me that I even requested that information, but she ultimately through fit and ended up crumpling up the papers with the contact information, or at least I hope that's what she was writing down. Then she flat out refused to provide me any information as to whom the store manager would be as well as how to reach them, and also claimed there was no district manager to call regarding my experience and concerns. And I will say the clearance area is hit and miss. Check out the end caps for the clearance areas, or sometimes there will be an aisle towards the back of the store. read more

I've yet to have a bad experience in this store due to employees.. I have however had issues with other customers, their children and the numerous junkies that seem to frequent this store. I feel sorry for the people who work here. I saw one employee get told she was ugly by some rotten little brat while trying to help his mother. Another time I saw a woman shove markers down her pants and spill paint all over shelves and the floor. I'm doubtful that I could put up with half the crap I've seen there.. The employees seem to know the store, their products and useful ideas on how to make any project more streamlined. I give em mass props!! read more

I've been to this store a few times, but for some reason when I went there to enroll in the Michaels rewards program, the cashier took my information and "acted like" she entered it into the system but did not do so. My email and cell phone number are extremely private and I am disturbed that this information was gathered yet not recorded. It makes me feel like this information could be used for ulterior motives. We walked into Michael's yesterday to get some last minute Halloween stuff. One of the employees was doing face painting. We were planning on going to Peoria's Halloween Bash that night so we figured we'd get our 5 year old daughters face painted to match her costume. She did a great job on the face paint and best of all it was free. Things like this keep me coming back to businesses. I really think it's cool they give back like that. And by the way, My daughter took "Most Original" in the costume contest. If you're reading this face painting employee, THANKS! You made my daughters day! read more

Damn, I love Michaels and was stoked they had curb side pick up for these times of uncertainty. I placed my order and headed down there. Although they never sent me a confirmation email saying my order was ready I went on in the store so I could grab my things. They handed me my bag of supplies and sent me away. Looking in the bag, I noticed my one of my 3 brush tip pens were missing. I mentioned it to a bleach blonde male employee, who replied "I went ahead and canceled that out because I wasn't going to search for a black pen for you" I was surprised and asked "really, can I just go look for it?" And he showed me to a MESS of aisle. He then pointed and said it should be there, noted the mess and left. Not only did I feel like this employee was extremely rude and unprofessional. It really reflects on the store as a whole. I know their store has not been bustling with people, and they could at least have used a little bit of time to organize product to sell to people who need it for work during this time. I place an online order for 500ft of curling ribbon, so I could go pick it up on my lunch break. I go to the online pick up and push the button. I wait 5 minutes push it again, wait another 5 minutes and no one came. I had to go search the store to go get someone to help me. The associate could not find my order and walks away. The customer service here is excellent. We recently stopped in & couldn't find something. When one employee couldn't find it, she quickly brought in another who did. The both of them made sure we found everything we needed & were so great about it. I observed this going on with other customers & employees as well. The cashier was also excellent, making me aware of savings opportunities & giving me a great discount when all was said & done. I was so impressed, I signed up for their rewards program & will make this my regular store. read more

Its always been kind of messy when I go, but I guess with a bunch of little things and a bunch of roaming hands it is easy for things to get all over the place. I am a local artist and shop this store weekly and love the product and prices. With that said I will never walk into this store as long as these two associates work there. A stand in Manager named Meaghan was extreamly rude, condescending and threatening. Extreamly young lady that pushed and acted like her Title as manger superseded any costumer service skills. Her lack of knowledge in aiding a person after an associate that stated they had a $500 dollar piece of jewelry in there hand and was safely placing it at customer service desk for my return and pick up during a phone conversation within 5 minutes if leaving the store. I was realieved. By the time I got there the associate hid in the back and Meaghan came out and said it was misplaced they no longer had my jewelry. They had misplaced it with in four steps from the register to the customer service desk Then said mistakes happen. No appology nothing. I requested to speak to him the only guy that worked in the store and had rung me up. She wouldn't let me talk to him. I wasn't even mad or yelling. But then I said why won't he talk to me he is here he had it in his hand. She said No you can't talk to him and I'm not making him come from the back room. I said, why he is a grown man. She said, "I'm a grown woman, im going to have to ask you to leave or call security". Then I was upset. I raised my voice and said call security and I'll call the police he had my jewelry In His hand last.... Magically from the back room he gave my jewelry to another associate within a minute of me saying I would call the police. I will never shop at this store or trust these associates. Not professional and they lied. With saying they mistaken the jewelry to they misplaced the jewelry. They lied and didn't care what the piece of Jewlery meant to me when both associated knew he had it the whole time. read more

I have been to this Michaels several times over the past year and i have spent alot of money. I brought a peice in 3 weeks ago to be framed for Christmas. I went to pick up the peice and it was in the wrong frame. The girl that took the order was there i asked her why is this not in the red frame remember i wanted the red frame. She said she remembered but made a mistake and didn't put the right frame on the order. I told her and the manager i needed this right by the 24th for Christmas. Its the 24th its not ready and im not happy at all. They did give me 30 dollars off and did offer to pay for the shipping at least they did that. But its not the saving of money the point was to give this to a family member i haven't seen in years on Christmas. read more

If I have coupons, I want to use coupons. I know they say one per customer per day, but other locations have done separate transactions to accommodate, which is awesome. This one doesn't. That's okay, I'll just buy my one item and move along. I love Michael's, they are usually stocked well with what I'm looking for. During the Christmas season, it's a mess...during the rest of the year, it's not as big of a mess. While waiting in a forever-line one day, I overheard another customer's rant. She had apparently called and asked for some yarn to be held for her, but they couldn't find it when she got there. There was one pack left on the shelf, so she had that, but they looked everywhere for literally 30 minutes for the stuff on hold. Finally, they found it, fairly easily, under one of the register counters. I guess whoever placed it there didn't communicate with the others before she left for the day. I was extremely impressed with the extra mile that Meghan (one of many spellings) took in helping me find a special container that I had been looking for forever. The one I found was a part of something else that someone opened and left on the shelf. She seeked out her manager and got her to sell it to me. That was over and above what she had to do. And I no longer need to look for that container! Plus she helped me out with other purchases. I will continue to shop at that specific Michael's. Thanks again Meghan! read more
