Michael's needs to up their technology. An employee can only search for a product in their inventory by sku #? Seriously? I asked if they carried something and the employee proceeded to broadcast to his fellow employees asking if they carried it. No one had heard of it so I was simply told "No, we must not carry it." Which they do online so I was a little confused by that answer. It seemed silly they couldn't check their inventory for it. For Xmas my husband got me a Thomas kinkade beauty and the beast painting and he wanted to get me a custom frame for it. He looked around Xmas time at michaels and Spencer was awesome with helping him! She has a love for Disney like me and she really tried to get me the best. The frame came out to $1300 which was way to steep so yesterday morning we woke up to see 70% of custom frames we went straight to the store and a really nice guy helped us out he was very patient with me it took about 30 minutes to finally decide on a frame, type of glass, and border he explained why all the details are so important and how each one protects the photo, the end price for what I got was in the $800s( I know crazy!) But the 70% brought it down by a lot! Make sure to go with coupons people. I can't wait to see the end result I'll make sure to update this post. He informed us it will take about 2 weeks but I could tell he cared and was also excited for the end result so I felt fine leaving my painting for that amount of time. I heard that Michael's had just opened a new store in Studio City so I went in search of it, it didn't take long to find. It's in a small shopping center on Ventura Blvd., between Vineland and Tujunga, above the Marshall's (or if you were a fan of the long-gone restaurant Todai - that's where it is). The store is clean and beautiful - what you would expect from a new store. The staff was friendly and helpful and were pretty knowledgeable about their store so I'm sure to return soon armed with coupons- with all the holidays coming up, it's nice to know there's a nice craft store in that area. read more

Juan helped me out when I needed a picture re-framed. I did not have to pay for him to do it at the store even though the glass was broken and it took some time. He made my day and left feeling really good! The store was clean and there is plenty of underground parking. The employees were all very friendly and kids seemed to be enjoying the craft class in a separate room. I loved my visit and will definitely go again. Juan set the pace and I appreciated his help. I went here for custom framing. First of all, NEVER pay full price at Michael's- they are ripping you off. They almost always have a sale where you can get 40% off. Google "Michaels coupons" before setting foot in there. When I got my frame home and unwrapped it, it was extremely crooked. I had to take it back to get redone. They said it would be ready the next day. The next day... Still not ready. The framing department employee was very rude and making excuses about how he had to fire an employee and another one didn't show up, as though their poor hiring is the customer's problem. Overall bad experience. On the plus side, parking is easy and the lady who helped me pick out the frame initially was great. read more

Went yesterday. I like the place even tho i don't find always what I'm looking for. But yesterday was one of the worst long line to checkout ever. The employees seem to not care at all. One cashier stucked with two girls FOR EVER and also busy with the phone, the other one so slow that I wanted to take a nap just looking at him. Only after 15 mins of this BS, the one of the guy finally called for help. She finally arrived to serve JUST one customer and then leave. More than 10 people waiting in line!! When finally was my turn, I've complained with the guy that was so rude, continuing talking by phone and not saying thank you or bye. Is anybody there who can really knows how to do the job? There seems to be a trend in retail stores to have as few workers as possible. I was walking around for about an hour looking for a product. I didn't find any employees on the floor, just employees ringing up items. Keep in mind, this is a Saturday afternoon. I pressed the button to see if an employee could help me but after waiting 15 minutes no one came. Frankly, it seems like a security issue as well being that no one is supervising the floor. It's little wonder why brick and mortar retail is dying. I'll see if amazon stocks what I need. read more

I came in to buy an oversized picture frame after getting a 50% off coupon. I was so excited to save $25 that I did not even notice that the coupon wasn't valid until November 8. Kimberly assisted me and got approval from her supervisor to give me that one time accommodation. She definitely went out of her way to give me the best deal. The layout of this location is difficult to logically navigate. They are understaffed. It is clean. They offer classes.

Awesome selection and prices. They always seem to have 50% off deals during the seasons. But some of the staff here and so rude. No matter how polite and nice you are they like to give you a snappy attitude. read more

The managers Rita and Mecca were so helpful and nice! I bought a whole lot of supplies the other day and the cashier didn't inform me about the big 30% off they were having. He told me it would only be about 1$ cheaper then buying a new one with the 40% off coupon. I could live at Michael's if they would let me paint in the aisles. This location is small in comparison to others nearby but the staff is helpful and friendly and they typically have what I'm looking for. I will say though that their selection of scrapbook embellishments is a bit lacking. They only have a small section of paper flowers. I would love for them to beef that section up a bit more. But for the location and the size of store, this is a great Michael's. read more

When I heard that Michael's was coming to Studio City I was ecstatic considering the drive to Encino always takes forever for one little thing. Boy was I wrong! The stock here is very limited to what you would see in a Michael's and you can pretty much only count on the Holiday, Floral or Decor sections here. Not sure if it's because it's a new store, but it seems like there are a lot of things missing. I think I'll just keep driving to Encino where they have a better selection. read more

I came to the store the other day to look for items for a last minute project. Yes I'm a busy working mom but of course with the way my luck would be my phone completely shut off and died as soon as we walked into the store and I need to look online to find what actually was survive in the Arctic it was Arctic tundra project. So I looked around and I thought if I could ask an associate if you could look it up for me or she could look it up for me that would be awesome but who would want to go out of their way... Sadly, I'm not allowed to give zero stars, because that's what this place deserves. An associate named Amber rang me up after I spent an eternity waiting in line. When I inquired about entering my rewards number, she rolled her eyes and told me the transaction already went through. A nearby employee then complemented her on how quickly she got rid of me, WHILE I WAS STANDING THERE. I then went to leave, and another associate forcibly removed my receipt to make sure I paid for the t-shirt. So, I walked in and was helped by a very nice man. He went out of his way to find the item I was looking for. So far, so good. Went to the register to purchase my items, swiped my card and then for whatever reason the cashier said that the receipt would not print out and asked if I "really" needed it. Um, yes. I did. She seemed annoyed that I wanted one but called in "the back" to see if they could print one out. Not sure why this whole thing was so extremely complicated but she was acting as if I was asking her to do some horrific task by simply giving me a receipt for my purchase. Cut to 15 (I kid you not) minutes later, I was standing there still waiting for my receipt. During this time she checked out about 10 customers and was able to give them receipts. Whoever was in the back called a few times to ask about my receipt, what I purchased etc. At one point the cashier asked me the exact amount was that I was charged. I told her a general number that I recalled from 15 minuted prior and she seemed once again annoyed that I didn't remember the exact dollar amount. Finally after a few more minutes I asked where this person who was supposedly giving me my receipt was. She pointed to a general area of the store so I walked in that direction and some woman was walking out with three pages of paper stapled together. She handed it to me and told me this large document was my receipt. I asked what took so long and she said, in the same annoyed tone as the checkout person "We have a lot of transactions." They were all acting as if this was some sort of huge favor they were doing me. I was so dumbfounded by the experience here, I will happily spend an extra ten minutes in the car and travel to the Burbank Michaels or another craft store altogether. read more

I love this Michaels store! The staff are helpful and truly seem to like working there. I came in the store and it was about closing time but I knew exactly what I wanted and where it was in the store so I knew I wasn't going to be one of "those customers" that makes the store close late. The associate was super friendly, I believe her name is Kimberly and she gets things done! I go to this Michaels often, I mean I can walk, and I have a feeling Kimberly may become a new friend because I am learning to crochet and I can walk to this location! I would come to this Michaels anyday of the week! And even if you are "just looking", they are freindly and ready to help. I sometimes feel like a superstar shopping becaue they are so freindly and when I am wandering around looking for something there is usually someone close by that will come and ask what I need instead of me finding an associate (which I don't mind doing at all). I can't believe the customer service that I received today at Michaels. I went in to return a frame that had broken at my home. I stupidly thought that 3M Velcro Stickers would actually do what they were intended to do (Hold up more than a 12lb frame). Unfortuantely, that wasn't the case and the frame fell and broke. Needless to say I needed to replace my frame. I found the exact same frame and went to pay for it. Kimberly, the cashier, was nice enough to share normal pleasantries and inquire about the broken frame I was carrying. After she noticed it was the same frame she contacted the store manager in hopes that they might be able to help me. I didn't have a receipt, but what they did blew my mind. Josh, the store manager, allowed me to return the broken frame for store credit and purchase the new frame for the on-sale price. I have never had this type of customer service at a Michaels before. Nice to see such a stellar manager and cashier care for their customers! Look forward to coming back to this store in the future. read more

They have a good assortment of merchandise, I will give them that but their sale signs are not always correct. Several times the sign was never taken down although they did still give me the sale price. My biggest complaint are the registers. There is always a line to check out, they never staff enough people at the registers. The wait to get out of there is usually 20 minutes, I always spend more time on line that I did shopping. read more

I come here a lot because it's close and I love the items in the store. It's good old Michaels. However, the cashier service is awful. I stand in line for 10 minutes sometimes while the only cashier takes phone calls and all the other employees pass me and refuse to jump in. It's pretty obnoxious. TERRIBLE RETURN POLICY. Know that if you want to return an item, unused, their cashier calculates the LOWEST sale price in the last 90 days, and that is what you get , even with Proof of Purchase. I love this Michaels! They always have great discounts on products along with monthly sales. The staff is super helpful as well! Micah in framing was so helpful when I had some questions about details for my table numbers at my upcoming wedding. He even told me about a sale that was going on that I wasn't aware of. I shop at Michaels often for arts & crafts and seasonal items. The closest store to me is the Granada Hills store. Over the years, I have been to all of their San Fernando Valley locations as well as the Burbank location. The customer service has usually been average at best until I visited the Studio City store during the holidays. I received great service (Kimberly was great!), store was clean and organized, and they had a larger inventory than their other stores probably because the store is fairly new. It is well worth the drive to visit this location! read more

I recently visited this new location and had a very pleasant experience! To start off with, there was plenty of parking because of the parking structure, so getting in and out was easy. The store was ample and very well organized (that's a plus plus in my book). All of the associates were genuinely kind, attentive and professional!! Juan, in the framing department took exceptional care of me!! He totally hooked up my favorite rockabilly/pinup print by Gustavo Rimada with a fabulous frame. At first, I was uncertain on how he was going make it work because of the various colors in the print, but I trusted his talent/ expertise and the frame was better than I ever imagined!! I think I hugged him. :) You can trust him with your favorite prints/ pictures he won't disappoint! read more

Hands down the best customer service I've experienced ever! I recently went into this location to order a custom frame and returned several times to buy other items in an effort to redecorate our apartment. First time we were helped by the framing rep who's name I believe was Juan. He was incredibly helpful and friendly. When we checked out we were helped by Beatriz at the cash register and she was glowing and friendly beyond what I expect from any check out person. As mentioned, we returned a few times and another manager (who's name, sadly, I can't remember) offered superior assistance in helping me pick some frames and even put in a rush request on our custom frame. When I returned a few days later he remembered my name and was friendly beyond belief. Beatriz was even at the register again and sparked up small talk and helped get me a coupon to save money. Customer service is a lost art at the overly corporatized stores I shop at on a regular basis to the point where I don't expect it anymore. To have a store full of gracious individuals is refreshing and has earned a loyal customer in me. read more
