    a mexican themed restaurant
    Lilliana C.

If you're in Cody and craving Mexican, this is the place. Good food, fresh horchata, and friendly service. The layout of the restaurant is kind of interesting, as they have a roped off area for you to wait for a table. Also, a play-pin for what must be the owner's child outside of the bathrooms. The food here was very good. Highly recommend the shredded chicken torta! The salsa here is actually really good as well, however, every salsa refill costs an extra dollar and doesn't come with more chips...

My son was impressed that his burrito was as big as his arm lol

I moved to Powell this summer, and I was really missing a good Mexican restaurant. After asking locals and lifelong residents of Cody, we went to Michaels. My oldest son was visiting, so I took him and my three younger sons. Honestly, some of the best Mexican food I've had in quite a while. The fajitas were excellent, my son's burrito was enormous, and my other son said it was the best torta he ever had. My youngest is eight, but he can really pack away the food. He ordered off the kids menu, and it was adequate for a light lunch for him, but next time I will probably order him a full sized entrée. I took home a to go box home with some fajita meat for lunch the next day, and my son had about 1/3 of his burrito left as well. The salsa was very fresh, and they even had white cheese queso, which has been hard to find since I left the south. The atmosphere is casual and fairly busy with lots of families and of course a few tourists, but it felt like mostly locals. We were served by an older gentleman who may have been the owner. Service was very fast, and he was extremely friendly. I will definitely be going back

    Smallest Chicken Enchiladas ever

We were referred to Michael's a several locals and by reading yelp reviews. First, I would tell you that the food taste it OK. Restaurant was clean and the staff was as pleasant as they could be for as busy as it was. The locals told us this was the best Mexican place in town. I'm glad I didn't try the others. And I do have to say when we left, there was a line out the door. Now the main reason for my two stars Quantity of food in value . I ordered chicken enchiladas, with beans and rice. I'm 61 years old and those were the two smallest chicken enchiladas I've ever seen in my life I'm fairly confident they were made on flour taco shells. As for the beans and rice side dish, the smallest portion of beans and rice I have ever been given. Food was served hot in a timely fashion, and it tasted OK. If this is the best in town, the bar settle for low.

The best Mexican food north of California and Arizona. Surprisingly good. In fact, better than some Mexican restaurants in CA and AZ.

A 1oz side of guacamole is $3. & a 1oz side of sour cream is $1.50!!! If you want the $17 burrito with carne asada, add another $7 to the price of the meal. I decided on the Chili Verda as I love Hatch Green Chili's that are native to Hatch, NM. But they use pabalano peppers. A real disappointment. They say the pork is award winning, but it is NOT! It tasted like it was days old, dry & no real flavor. I tried to revive it with some water to no avail. The same can be said about the corn. To sum it up, I did not eat most of my meal, paid almost $30 for lunch (no lunch specials at all) & left hungry. If you are looking for authentic New Mexico or Mexican food, please look elsewhere or you may be greatly disappointed.

Waitress made the staff prepare a bowl of fruit for our son and brought him a color book, and was just the sweetest and most heart warming person to her clients. While also giving the locals their attention and handling a busy morning like a professional. Plus gave some amazing recommendations! Definitely won our hearts and our tip! -Farmers favorite: 5/5 (pay for a side of green chile pork) Our waitress wasn't lying when she said it was delicious! A bite that's almost farm fresh whole being a hash like consistency makes this bite a delicious one! Soft but slightly crispy while having a rich flavor from the pork. Alone, delicious, add the pork chile verde!?!? Another level!!! Authentic hatch green chile verde to top this makes it a Mexican inspired almost gravy like consistency that just screams in savory and is the perfect match to change up the ole ketchup and hot sauce you'd drop on this kind of a meal. -sweet role: 5/5 Get the sweet role... get it with the home made glaze too! Don't just wait... order it right away before they sell out. One of the best rolls we've ordered together. Definitely worth coming in just for this... plus. It feeds 4 or more. Trust me.... I got Granny's Favorite which was 2 eggs, hash browns, bacon and sourdough toast. You do get some choices with that like what meat you want, what kind of toast, and how the eggs are made, however there are no substitutions so I had to stick with the hash browns despite not loving them (not from here but in general). The food wasn't anything that overly stood out to me, but I did get a very generic breakfast. The staff, however, were friendly and some of the hosts as we were leaving were even talking about the Australian Emu War which I thought was funny. Overall, I wouldn't avoid coming back if we were in Cody, Wyoming again but I would probably see if there was a different recommendation next time.
