This is one of the worst Mexican restaurants I've ever been to. Took almost 15 minutes for someone to take our order. Our waitress never came back. Two different people came and delivered our appetizer and main meal after 45-50 minutes of sitting there. The "cheese" dip is not cheese. At least not in the typical cheese dip way. It's a weird concoction that tastes like alfredo sauce. It's also what comes on your meal if you order white sauce. My meal was supposed to have cubed beef, I ordered it hoping it would be like steak. It tasted like sausage you would find in sausage gravy for breakfast. It was disgusting especially with the weird "cheese" sauce on top. Very disappointing after waiting 45-50 minutes. Never had our water refilled either. I've never wrote a review and I rarely leave food on my plate. I didn't finish my meal and neither did my brother who had the same thing. I have no idea how this place got 4.5 stars. I hope Cody has a better Mexican restaurant because I feel bad for the people who live here if that's what they consider good Mexican food. Salsa was decent. read more

We left here gloriously happy! The margaritas were outstanding. Being a Mom & Pop restaurant, you didn't have service, you were treated like special company. Dad met us at the door and seated us only after he made the table spotless. Daughter was the best waitress ever. Mom cooked and kept dad out of the kitchen. And when our food was ready, mom delivered it sizzling, not cooling on the windowsill. The food was outstanding, hot, perfectly seasoned and delicious. Our only regret is it's 1600 miles from home. I had to post another review for this restaurant. The owners and staff are amazing. They are always so kind and put so much effort into their food! Absolutly the best Mexican restaurant i have been to and I've been to alot!!! Michael's famous burrito is our regular order and it not only feeds all 4 of the kids but there is normally left overs. Tonight my wife and I had the cheese enchiladas and a tamale. So unbelievably good. We always get the white sauce because it is rich and creamy but tonight we also got the green sauce on the tamale. The sauce wasn't smothering the plate, and had just enough spice to taste good. That said, I asked for a side of pico de gallo, and my husband a small side of queso after our meals arrived. This seemingly mundane detail sparked the need for this 3-star review: a 3 oz *side* of queso cost $6, and an even smaller container of chopped onions (claiming to be the pico) cost $4.50!! For what we received, that was incredibly expensive. The price of their menu really hurt our experience. Coming from San Antonio, we know good Mexican food, and know how much it regularly costs. For two people eating only enchilada plates, our bill was $50. Outrageous. We won't be returning. The food was good, but not THAT good. read more

Loved! This was one of the best restaurants I went to on my recent trip around the Dakotas and eastern Yellowstone. The margarita was big (thanks) and the delightful father-daughter serving team was always ready with the refills (thanks again). The green sauce on our veggie enchilada was super tasty and the cheese was molten and bubbly the way it should be. The quesadilla sizzled with surprisingly sizeable and succulent shrimp, something I wasn't expecting in Wyoming. The guacamole tastes tableside style - it was just freshly made and oh so good. This place is terrible! The food quality is bad! I ordered a shrimp taco. The shrimp was raw! The food was inedible! We were also overcharged! The waitress argued with me about the situation. When I said that's not what I ordered & I refuse to pay for something i didnt order, she called the police on me. In front of my 3 young children. She really scared them. The police officers said I could've pressed charges on her for disturbing the peace. I'm on vacation, just traveling through Cody to get to Yellowstone. Not worth wasting mine & my families time. This place is a rip off & the food quality is very poor! Not real Mexican food! The salsa tasted like pepper & cilantro! I said to the waitress, in front of the officers, your food is terrible! We spent a couple of nights in Cody traveling x-country and wanted to try a local restaurant. Saw great yelp reviews for Michaels Tacos and decided to try it out. We had a great experience. THE SERVICE: Service was excellent. They were busy and looked like maybe a little short handed. There was one primary server (a gentleman was helping to deliver food to tables) and she was a whirling dervish of efficiency. We made a point of complimenting her as we cashed out because we were so impressed. THE FOOD: My husband had the fajitas, which were very good, but the star of our experience was my pork carnitas with green sauce and grilled onions. They were AH-MAZING!!! I am not one to take pics of my food, but I did to text to my foodie friends back home. I've only had carnitas made with a pulled/shredded pork. The pork in these carnitas was carved. When I saw them I was prepared to be disappointed with tough or chewy bites, but the pork melted in my mouth! So tender and flavorful. I was full but I ate it all. It was too good to waste a bite.
