I haven't been to this location in a while (I loved the Michael's in Fresh Meadows, but they closed). You can easily see what you're looking for. Everything is in order. The section with sticker's is not what they used to be. They now have less of a variety, and what they did was spread the sticker's further out from each to fill up that section. There is no negative or positive feedback regarding the staff. I saw only one person on the floor, one person in the custom framing section helping a customer, and the rest of the employees were at the register. The store was not busy. The good thing about Micheal's they always have discount sales online or emails they send you when up sign up. Just screenshot the discount. read more

If I could give less than one star I would. This store is full of employees who don't want to work. They hide from customers and their customer service is below toilet level. The manager makayda and her worker shamika were horrible. Makayda offered no recourse to the situation (computer saying there was more than enough inventory, nine to be exact, but makayda refused to locate the item) she didn't even apologize. She just walked away. I asked shamika for the managers name and the number to corporate she intentionally blew me off. These individuals chose to work in retail but refuse to deliver basic customer service. Though this is my home store, I would travel out Of my way if I need anything from Michael's again. I was in this store for 40 minutes and left with not even a smile or greeting let alone mediocre customer service from the workers who looked like they'd rather be anywhere else than there. As a kid I was heavy into arts and crafts but as a mom I have been slacking on getting my daughter more involved. My friend visits this location frequently and invited me to a kids holiday themed art class. We arrived at 1:00 and the class was already in session and kids were designing already. The project was an adorable holiday animal themed t-shirt with your choice of a Llama Or Reindeer. We opted for the Reindeer and purchased our T-shirt for the sale price of a whopping $2.00 !!! Lisa and another young instructor handed out supplies and supervised the children on how to design the animals. I love this classroom idea and the fact it's offered here at an affordable price for parents. They also offer adult classes. Lisa and the young lady were very kind and helpful. This was a great way to spend 2 hours on our Saturday off and we really enjoyed getting creative with the girls. I can't wait to attend future classes again. read more

The 2 people that work here are lazy liars. 2 because there's never any workers in the floor, only at the register. Drove here from Brooklyn with my baby because it said online that they had 8 tubs of the fondant I need. Well when I arrived there, there were none. Had to wait on line to speak to an associate since there are no associates walking around. When I asked them if they can get one of the tubs from the back for me, they said "whatever's out is out." I'm like "online it says you have 8 in stock, that's why I drove here from Brooklyn with my baby." They looked at me with a clueless look then tell me "it doesn't update it online." So I'm like "how? It's such a waste of time and gas to come here for something that says in stock when it's really not."....no response, no apology, nothing. Anyway, I had to go to Oceanside to get it. When I called that location to make sure they had it, they checked the floor AND the back room and told me "we have 3 tubs on the floor and 8 in the back room." I spoke to an associate there about what happened at the valley stream location. She said "no, every time someone buys a product, it updates the amount online. It's up to date. I stopped by here to look for gingerbread houses and ornaments that I could paint and personalize for my friends. Plenty of icing, glitter, silver and pearls to decorate the gingerbread house and cupcakes with for Christmas. This location doesn't feel as big as the Michaels on Long Beach road. It also looked a bit messier, I guess because it's nearing Christmas so there are a lot of black Friday item returns and last minute items people are letting go of on line? I was surprised to see that even at 9pm, this store was still very busy. There was a long wait for the line. The racks behind the register were piled with tons of things and the racks that queue the line were also messier than other Michaels locations that i've been to. I'm pretty sure the reason that the line was moving so slow was because the cashiers were chatting with each other. I moved up to pay and the cashier called the next person without even seeing me there because he was so busy chatting with the guy next to him. And then while I was paying, he played with tape for a long time. Nothing of mine needed to be taped. The store needs to be organized better so that there aren't so many items stacked in the exit area making it very difficult to walk out. This is the messiest Michaels location i've been to. I didn't have a super unpleasant experience here, however, I would prefer a neater shopping space with staff that are more attentive. read more

Michaels is a great place to go for all your creative items you need and even great decorative items for the home as well. I love the fact that they always have a coupon for almost everything, and sometimes they have great deals on many items I am in search of!! This Michaels I must say I'm not really thrilled with, they are very well organized, however when you are looking for a employer who works there you can never find one at all! They seem as if they are very low in staff especially for the holiday season. I went there twice within one week and the lines was over twenty minutes long! The Michaels at the valley stream location never has any shopping carts or baskets. I went there to purchase yarn and had to hold a bunch of yarn in my arms. It was very uncomfortable as well as inconvenient. The store was very loud in that employees were shouting to one another across the aisles; moreover, the employees were the only ones with shopping carts. When I arrived to this store there were absolutely no carts or baskets available for shopping. I asked an associate if there were any and he told me no. I had to purchase many t-shirts for my cheerleading team (over 20) and some other items. This is unacceptable for people who have to make large purchases. Also, you are forced to do self checkout if you are paying with credit card. This especially makes no sense with someone, like myself, that has many items. Self checkout in most stores are for people with just a few things. If I wanted to work for Michael's I would've filled out an application. As I'm there scanning my many items, sales associate are nearby yelling at people the correct way to scan items or coupons. This makes no sense, they just need to be on the registers doing the job for the customers. Only one register was open and the associate working the register said that was cash only. In 2022, especially during the busy holiday season, this business model does not work and makes no sense. As I was putting in the code for my coupon, a nearby associate yelled over to me that I have to scan it. I don't work here, how would I know?! It took me three hours and 3 calls to the Michaels 800 customer service department to issue a refund for a Christmas tree that I purchased on 11/12/22 and tried to return on 11/13/22. Less than 24 hours later! Keep in mind when I purchased the Christmas Tree in the Michaels store in Yonkers, NY, I specifically asked the salesperson who help me about their returns and was told I had 60 days. NOTHING WAS STATED ABOUT THE BOX CAN'T BE OPEN. I further told the sales person that I hoped the tree would fit in the space so that's why I wanted to confirm. Michaels Store #231in Valley Stream, NY should be ashamed of themselves for having employees like AMBER AND JAYLA. My wife took three paintings to be framed. After paying more than $400, three weeks later she went to pick them up and it turned out they did a horrible job (you could see the folding marks). The 'framing' manager apologized and said they would fix it, four weeks more go by and nobody called. She went to the store to pick them up and it turns out that they still hadn't fix it. The general manager apologized and said they were going to do it the same day, another week goes by and they still hadn't framed the paintings. She ended up going there like six different times until she finally decided to ask for the money back. The canvas in the one painting that they did wasn't stretch at all. I have a love hate relationship with Michael's. I want to rate it higher but I barely can people that a knowledgeable enough to help me when I need it. I've seen employees hiding in the aisles to text on their phones or be completely ambivalent to the fact that I a self proclaimed crafter needs assistance. I love Michael's because of the coupons. By far this was the most unpleasant costumer service. Firstly, I called for an item to be looked up so I can avoid making the 40 minute drive for nothing. So I'm put on hold for 20 minutes by "Will", I call back and am told to that I'll be called back once they find the item. Fast Forward 7 hours later still no call back. So I call around 4:15pm and I'm put on hold by Kiesha as she looks for the item for another 10 minutes. She then quickly says the item was not found in their two separate "data bases". So I ask "by any chance do you have the Pencil Tree on display?" yells no and hangs up on me. I wasn't given any suggestions or any kind of direction of other options for me or maybe even a corporate number to call for tracking purposes. This Michael's is new. The one in Lawrence closed down after sandy and they open this one up. It's a big muchaels with well stocked shelves. The people that work here are helpful and knowledgable. This store is always well lit and clean. The crafts room is nicely decorated for birthday parties. I have no complaints. There is a Large parking lot as well. read more

I have to say, this is one of the WORST Michael's locations I have ever seen. I worked at this location for TWO years. Came back into the store after I was no longer an employee and couldn't believe my eyes that it had gotten WORSE!! Almost every other month there was a new manager, the next even more clueless than the last. They treat their employees absolutely horrendously, no respect and they never have enough people working. Their sales associates are practically useless when it comes to helping anyone on the floor and the cashiers could care less, they're more interested in their phones. Corporate was contacted multiple times on this location and nothing has been done since it was opened in 2013. An absolute shame. I used to love Michael's as a kid, grew up going to the stores every weekend. I've been to a couple of Michael's stores. This one is okay-it's smaller than others. It's clean but not as organized or spacious as I would prefer. You can definitely find some things that you are looking for but, the Michael's in Carle Place/Westbury is your better bet. read more

This is one of the worst Michaels I've been in. Their customer service or lack thereof is mind boggling. On more than one occasion I've had online orders that were marked as completed and they couldn't find the merchandise although I had already paid for it and they tell me something is out of stock but I walk the store and find it myself. You take things more personal when you work in retail too, most of their employees are lazy and just don't pay attention to detail.
