Was told my car failed inspection for play in the steering rack and would require a complete replacement (a roughly ~$2000 service after I'd already paid $700 for the inspection, oil change, and differential fluid). I told the tech I understood, but I needed the car for work and didn't have $2000 for the repair right now, so please put it back together and I'd let them know when I had the budget for repairs. As soon as I drove off the lot, I realized my steering was completely borked. The alignment was off by almost a full quarter turn of the wheel. Soon, multiple warning lights lit up on the dash for traction control, ABS, and emergency brake. When I spoke to the tech again over the phone, he said he was unable to fix it due to the rack being bad. So, let me just fully understand this... I gave the car to a repair shop and it drove fine, straight and no warning lights. Paid $700, picked it up, it's clearly broken, and you want me to believe you need another $2000 to fix the problem you clearly created? Frustrated, and leaving for vacation the next morning, I ended the call with no resolution. After returning from vacation, I called again and left messages that were never returned. Eventually, my wife got through, and was told they "don't have access" to the voicemail. The tech was rude to my wife, again reiterated they couldn't fix their mistake, but did offer to take a look at it when they had time (when asked if she could bring the car in immediately, the tech scoffed). Meanwhile, I had simply taken the car somewhere else for a second opinion. Wouldn't you know it, the other shop said that while the rack had a slight bit of play, they measured it and it was well within PA state inspection specs and safe to drive. As for the alignment, it was off more than 6 degrees and took the other shop over two hours to correct and reset the sensors. After another $130, I have a car that runs fine and is inspected. I'm not sure if it's a new management issue or what, but stay away from this place. I'll be letting the BBB and the state inspection board know what kind of scam they're running here.

I went in for a simple oil change and was told that my rear shocks were "shot" and leaking, and that this would eventually affect my tires and I would need to replace them sooner rather than later. I knew this was bs since they were replaced about two years ago, and it's not like I go off-roading. Normal driving. Most shops would show you what was wrong as well, or show you a video. This guy didn't. I refused. Also - these guys said they did a complementary tire rotation yet failed to tell me my tires actually needed air. And these guys supposedly specialize in tires. I just had my car inspected by a REPUTABLE shop and said nothing about this just to see if they saw the same thing. Of course not, my car passed with flying colors - NO issues. It's disgusting to have been bamboozled like that, and if I were a man or had my husband with me that would never have happened. What a crock of sh*t. You have to wonder whether the guy gets an incentive or commission based on the extra work they get people to do on their cars. Flat out lying to people like that. Shameful. Also, at the time, their A/C wasn't working and had been out for a week, so clearly the owner could give a crap about his employees, or their customers. (And I'm sure this review will just prompt one of those nearly automated responses about calling some number and containing some email address to reiterate the issue). You'll never get my trust back. But you did me a favor when I needed my inspection done and found SPANIAL'S SERVICE CENTER in Hatfield. They have an excellent reputation and have been in business since the 60s. They are not bs artists, they are really good, honest people and I will be servicing my car there in the future. Your loss, as if you even cared in the first place.

Control arms, ball joints, trans pan gasket, oil pan gasket and coolant line. I work on my truck and maintain is religiously. ALL WERE FINE BUT THEY INSISTED I COULDN'T EVEN PICK IT UP TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE IT WAS UNSAFE. My type of oil pan is an ABS pan that you can't just replace the gasket, you HAVE TO replace the whole pan because of the warp and chance of cracking if re-installed. They kept the same pan. Oil leaks and trans pan leaks less than a week later. Dropped it off a second time telling them all of this. Tom said "ok we'll take a look at it". One week later same leaks. He again says nothing more than "i'll take a look at it". Complete negligence at this point and i will be demanding a partial refund. Highly doubt they'll do anything though.

Something felt off I just took my car somewhere else. Turns out my oil leak was just from my oil cap and my control arms were fine. Almost spent thousands on an imaginary problem. They took my money for the inspection still. They will try to convince you to go to cherry lane auto for a "second opinion" if you press them. Cherry lane auto is also owned by them so don't fall for it. Steer clear of this place. The short dude is a seriously sketch guy.

That matters more than ever these days. What really sets Lakeside apart is Josh's expertise, craftsmanship, and standards. He is a mechanic in the truest sense of the word, not a parts replacer. He is willing to actually diagnose a problem, dig into it, take things apart, repair what can be repaired, and put it back together the right way. In an industry that has become largely remove and replace, finding someone who still believes in fixing things is incredibly refreshing and nearly impossible. Honesty and integrity are clearly non-negotiable here. They do not exaggerate problems, they do not invent repairs, and they will not fix something that is not broken. I never leave feeling like I paid for an unnecessary part or service. Their pricing is fair, transparent, and never feels like price gouging. This is a shop where you are actually glad to take your car, because you trust the diagnosis, the workmanship, and the people doing the work. Josh and his crew stand behind what they do, care deeply about their customers, and run their business the way it should be run. If you are looking for a garage with strong values, exceptional skills, and real integrity, Lakeside Garage sets the standard.
