Just needed a tire plugged, made an appointment and when I got there they took my car in right away, and the waiting area was packed with people. I was very happy,and I was home within a half hour. I recently came to regret going to Mavis for a battery replacement in which the Idle Management System was not backed up, nor was power maintained to the vehicle's computer during the changeout process. The result was that my car broke down before I could even get home and needed to be towed to the mechanic. Mavis refused to provide a refund. Beyond this, the technician named John claimed he was applying a Veteran's discount and applied absolutely no discount of any kind. After claiming not to be authorized to provide refunds, he telephoned me a day later claiming that he could give me a refund if I ripped the battery out of my car and gave it back to them. Going to Mavis cost me more than I bargained for and needless to say, I will never be returning under any circumstances. read more

Highly recommend going anywhere else but here for an oil change. We had an oil change done here December 30th, the oil drain plug fell out causing engine failure. We returned to this location January 21st and explained what happened and they took full accountability and told me they were replacing the motor with a new motor due to the year and miles of the vehicle (2019 kia Sorento / 25k miles). Every time I'd call to get an update I was told the district manager Hugh would call me asap. This went on for two weeks. Not once was I updated nor did anyone know where the vehicle was located. magically the car appeared at their shop on Wednesday February 5th. I asked repeatedly for paperwork on the engine and was told by the manager there isn't any. I asked who did the work and was told they don't know. Once we received the car, the interior had black greasy handprints all over the seats. Mavis took care of this and cleaned the interior. Now for the motor that was replaced..... One look under the hood would tell you it wasn't a new motor as was told to me by two store managers. This motor came from a junk yard and had more miles than the original one that was replaced. It stinks like burning antifreeze and is getting poor gas mileage, not to mention the check engine light coming on and it sounds like it's on its last leg. I had to call corporate because nobody here knows anything about this car or who did the work. Corporate told me the district manager Hugh will be calling me, which I heard for the past two weeks from three store managers. Hugh finally called and told me this is the motor we got and if there's any problems, there's a 6 month warranty. it's pretty bad when the store manager Erin tells me he wouldn't accept this if it was his personal vehicle. so, now were stuck with a car that ran perfect before we came here for an oil change, that were now worried about taking on short trips to the store.......... read more

I have been taking my cars for regular service to this location for many years (starting before they changed their name to Mavis). We will never go back after our recent experience. My wife brought a car in for inspection and oil change while I was away traveling. They told her the CV joint was "torn open" and "leaking grease all over the place" and that we needed to deal with this very soon. They quoted around $600 to repair. I was suspicious that they were lying to my wife so I had her take the car to another local mechanic who gets good reviews. The other mechanic could find no problem with the CV joints and even allowed my wife to look for herself and take pictures. When confronted with the other mechanic's findings and the pictures, the manager of this Mavis only response was "well that's what the technician told me so that's why I told you that." Be careful - they take advantage when they think they have a customer who doesn't know much about cars. At my daughter's last inspection they told her she needed new struts (we were surprised since her car is pretty low mileage) and we let Mavis replace them for almost $1,000. I'm now wondering if that was a fabrication also. read more

Brought my new used vehicle in for an exhaust leak. They did a full workup and let me know that the vehicle also needs new brake rotors due to wear. This didn't totally sit right with me, as the mechanic I took it to in NJ when I bought the vehicle didn't find any sign of that, and when I called them to confirm they reiterated as much. That being said, the folks at this Mavis were super cool about me wanting to pick up the vehicle without getting service done, and did not charge me a cent even though I was ready to pay for the time spent looking at my vehicle. I really appreciated that gesture. They may very well be correct about my brake rotor replacement, but I was feeling iffy and honestly can't afford to spend that much right now, and the fact that they were so understanding and professional was really truly appreciated. Short version: I think the management is dishonest and will try to sell you things you don't need. Background: I had a flat that I repaired myself. However, it appeared that the repair may have been losing air, so I put on my full-sized spare, which seemed fine at first. However, I noticed that the valve on the spare would leak air when I pushed it from side-to-side. Since I didn't have time to change it again, and I had a battery-powered pump in my car, I took a chance. Problem was the wheel wasn't centered, so it made the car shake. So, I went back to the original, repaired tire. But now, that tire shook as well. So, I decided to take it to a professional and I chose this Mavis Discount Tire shop on Cowpath road in Hatfield, PA. My Experience: They looked at it and I got a call from Dave, who I believe is the manager. He said that I needed 4 new tires to solve the shaking problem. I explained that, even though the tires were low on tread, they didn't shake before the flat incident. He said he could only speak for what he sees - essentially, he didn't know why the car was shaking. I explained the situation in more detail and he discovered that the "hub centric ring" on my after-market wheel was destroyed (I'm sure I did this during the tire change) - that explained why both the spare and original wheel was shaking after putting it back on. So, I asked them to put a new tire on my spare wheel, since the hub-centric ring is needed for the after-market wheel and it had to be ordered. They put the new tire on, and I think everything is cool. I drive the 27 miles on the turnpike and expressway to my job. I pull into the parking lot and the security guard points out that my tire is almost flat! He has a pump and fills my tire with air (I left my pump at home to charge up). I touch the valve, and it leaks air. Now I know that they didn't put a new valve on the new tire I bought. I take the vehicle back for them to look at, but I didn't reveal what I knew about the original valve. They fix it without question or explanation. I asked what the problem was, and they confirmed that the valve was bad, saying they must have had a bad batch, which I know is untrue. Conclusion: They tried to "get over" on me twice - first by selling me tires to solve an unrelated problem and then again by charging me for a part that costs $2.50 that they didn't replace. read more

I dont usually leave reviews, but I want to keep this place from ripping people off like they tried to do to me. Just stay away and find an honest shop. Took my 3 year old truck in to have a new set of tires mounted that I bought online and a state inspection. They called and told me I needed new rear pads and rotors to pass inspection. When I went to pick it up, I was suspicious (I was pretty sure the brakes were still good, especially the rears) so I asked to see the old parts at which point one of the mechanics in the back told me the rotors didn't need to be replaced and that the mechanic I talked to on the phone lied to me. I saw the rotors and they looked completely fine- plenty of life left. They couldn't even find the right pads to show me. I brought this to the manager and they refunded me, but if I didn't catch it, they would have just ripped me off. He also noticed that the guy double charged me for the pads and refunded me for that! Mechanic and the manager were also fighting right in front of me. This place is just bad news. read more

This place is a joke. Went to get a tire change and ended up having to get an arm bar replaced as well. No problem. Thing is my car didn't make any noise before I went to Mavis. Now I have the squeakiest car in town. I bring it back 2 days later and the guy tells me there is nothing they can do. Well my car didn't make sounds before it went in and now it does. They said I'd have to get a new shocks. Why? Because the new piece is rubbing against the shocks. Are you kidding me? SO you didn't install things correctly? These guys do shoddy work and are fine with leaving customers unsatisfied. The best part was the guy who I'm assuming is the GM of the location offered me to listen to my car with a stethoscope that 3 other guys just had in their ears... during a pandemic. I have been taking my car here for 7 years for service , and also bought tires a couple of years ago. The service and employees were very good until recently. I made an appointment for inspection two weeks ago, and when I went to drop off my car was told that they didn't have anyone available to do the inspection. They apologized for not calling me. I was fine with it, because mistakes are made. I rescheduled and went today to drop off my car, and was again told "we have no one available to inspect". This time they didn't even apologize or explain. They will not get another chance. I don't know if this is a problem with just this location (Hatfield,PA) or the company as a whole, but I will not visit another location to find out. read more

Prices may not always be the absolute lowest, but they're pretty close. It's hard to find someone you can trust with your car. I've been nothing with happy with every interaction I've had with the team here. Also haven't needed to come back to have them readdress the same problems again. I went to them on 6/192021 because I had a leak in my tire that went from slow for a week to fast that morning. They told me they couldn't find the leak, but they had 2 tires to sell me. I then went to Murray's Tire in Lansdale. The guy found the leak easily. Beware of such predation posing as incompetence. read more

SUPERB customer service by BOB and JON! Their timely, professional help enabled me to travel for a family emergency in a safe manner. On short notice, they repaired a damaged headlight, checked my brakes and tires, and got me on the road. Both BOB and JON clearly communicated with me, carefully explaining the problems and options to fix them. Everything was completed on time and at slightly less cost than was estimated. I had 4 new tires installed on my 2020 4Runner, after driving for 50 miles at speed I noticed a vibration at 58-60 mph so I took it back to have them check it out and re-balance. When they were done they said that they rebalanced all 4 tires but didn't see any issues and told me the vibration was due to them being all-terrain tires. I knew that was BS as I've had all-terrains for years and never had an issue. So I left the shop and wouldn't you know it, I had the same vibration again at 58 to 60 mph. So I took my 4Runner in to Toyota for an oil change and tire rotation and guess what, the mechanic comes out and tells me all 4 tires were not balanced right and that they'll take care of it. Will never go back to this place again!! On top of not balancing my tires right they also damaged my wheels with their impact gun too!!!! read more

Took my daughter's Acura MDX in for PA state inspection. Charged $600 for tie rods, wipers and DRL. Did not complete the inspection because they could not find a part (light socket for tag bulb-$7 part). I was told to find the part myself and bring the car back in again so they could complete the inspection. I found the part on line in 10 minutes. Next morning car had a flat tire. read more

Would not recommend coming here to ANYONE. I live in philly and planned my day around coming to Hatfield to get a state inspection here. When I showed up they told me they couldn't take me today because they got too backed up. I explained the inconvenience given that I was coming from out of town and "there was nothing they could do". It would have been nice to have been made aware ahead of getting there and being turned away. I had planned my whole day around this appointment. Having my car inspected is a time sensitive matter and the people here had no regard for my time or situation. Truly inconsiderate. I don't usually write reviews, but I've now had two terrible experiences at this Mavis Tire. About a year ago I made an appointment online to have my tire repaired. When I arrived, the front desk person told me "the technician never showed up to work today, so we can't help you." I thought it was strange they didn't even call me to let me know, so I arranged to get my tire fixed somewhere else. THEN this week, a different was slowly leaking, losing air pressure. I brought it to this Mavis Tire again, giving them the benefit of the doubt that they just had bad luck a year ago. They checked it, said nothing was wrong. When I pressed them to please keep looking, they agreed and returned it at the end of the day, insisting nothing was wrong. Not two hours after the tire was back on my car, my tire pressure dropped again. There is clearly something wrong with the tire. After two bad experiences at this Mavis Tire, I have to conclude that they just have no idea what they're doing. read more

Glad everyone else had good service at this location, but my experience was not good. Needed a state inspection on my 2 year old car. First I was told that the car failed the emission test and that I needed a new gas cap. Interestingly I did not have a check engine light on when I dropped off the car, but I still let them sell me a new gas cap. Secondly I was told that I had dented rims on two front tires so of course they told me I needed to buy two new tires. Since I have a Tire Care program with my lease, I told them no. Left there and headed to my dealer. Lo and behold my check engine light came on. Didn't I just pay $20 for a new gas cap? My dealer checked over my rims and saw no problem. Coincidence? I think not. I previously had a good experience here when I came in for an oil change, but I would not recommend anyone coming here for an inspection. I have a 2018 vehicle and the odometer literally just rolled over to 20k miles on the way to the shop. Was told I needed front and rear brakes and new rotors for the inspection!!! I have never in my 25+ years of driving and car ownership ever heard someone needing both brakes and rotors and will need new tires soon on a 2yr old car with so few miles. Seems very suspect to me, but i'll be nice and not call them scammers, but their business needs looking in to. I called the dealership today and they even said that doesn't sound right. To make things worse, I couldn't even go elsewhere to get the work done then come back for a recheck, I would have to pay the full inspection price again. I definitely didn't expect to be out of pocket hundreds of dollars for an inspection. read more

I love this place especially after today. I took my car to the dealership in the morning for a recall and tire with a slow leak. The dealership found the nail but didn't have the tire in stock so I called Mavis. It was about 1pm on a Saturday and they took me right away and when I got there took my car right in and on the lift. They brought me in the garage to show me exactly what was going on and explained to me what was happening. It was great. From start to finish. read more

Never ever ever buy your tires here. Made appointment on line for new tires. They told me wait time was about an hour. After three hour wait I asked what was the hold up. They told me tires are coming from our warehouse would be here in about hour. What? Why didn't they tell me that when I got there. Told them to put old tires back on which they did. Based on the glowing reviews, I decided to give this place a try (oil change). The wait was quite long (before they would even take the car back), but that didn't bother me too much. Was told they didn't offer conventional oil changes - only did synthetic. I figured that was fine, since I prefer synthetic (due to the much greater mileage (5-6k vs 3k)). Problem is, the "synthetic" oil they gave me lasted less than 3k before needing to be changed - which is more in line with what would be expected from a conventional oil change. I was kind of suspicious upon seeing how quickly it got dirty, and my suspicions were confirmed when a different mechanic mentioned (without me asking) that I had conventional oil in there when he changed it. Sooo, from where I'm sitting, it looks like the Hatfield STS (over by Giant) filled my car up with conventional oil, charged me for synthetic oil, and then lied to my face about it. What is more cliché than a dishonest mechanic? Not going back there again. read more

Now that I have a car, I had to learn and choose the best option for my Ford Fusion in my price range. Nothing makes you feel safer in a car than 4 new,excellent tires. I also recommend oil changes and the other services they offer. STS/ Hatfield is an HONEST business with an old- school professionalism. Make an appointment or just walk in. Completely incompetent staff. I placed a tire order and installation appointment 3 days in advance. I arrived at the store and the tires were nowhere to be found. I stood there for 20 minutes as the bumbling staff attempted to locate the tires to no avail. At no point in the 3 days since I placed the order did I receive a phone call saying that the tires would not be there on my scheduled appointment day. This type of foolishness is unacceptable. How such utter laziness could go unchecked is beyond me. Safe to say they will never be getting my business again. read more
