This guy fixed my cooking range and hence two stars but has severe severe attitude issues. Before he came I sent him a clear photo with an arrow showing the problematic cooking element in my cooking range . He misunderstood and assumed that the whole thing was dead. He comes here doesn't even try to turn it on, doesn't try to diagnose anything and starts to tell me that this ai ain't worth fixing . When I tried to correct him , he starts to yell at me (the customer) saying "you don't understand what I am saying" . All I was doing was trying to explain that not all but only ONE element was not working. Even during diagnosis and repair (second session) he needed help from me (the customer) to hold this support that etc at almost every step of the way . Isn't an independent contractor supposed to be 100% independent in his work? I've engaged electricians and plumbers and other and they all do their job without asking the customer to physically assist. Most importantly his TONE of speaking to the customer (me) was so UNCUSTOMERSERVICE like and almost condescending. I'm an electrical engineer myself with 20+ years of experience and I did not appreciate his approach to talking with a customer. I had no choice and an a time sensitive situation and so engaged with him to get my cooking range fixed. So while HE MAY KNOW what he is doing... that was his opener on the phone ("I know what I'm doing") clearly his work seemed like an amateur who was referencing multiple internet sites etc . To be fair to his credit he did get my cooking range element part ordered and fixed it promptly. Hence I have the two stars. But given his attitude and conversational tone I would NEVER hire him again. read more

I have an ancient dual fuel Frigidaire range and Mike performed a battery tests, explaining and showing me along the way, to correctly pinpoint and diagnose the key problem - a faulty control board. The entire time he was on his phone checking availability of different parts and providing me with a range of options. Given that the stove is over 20+ years old we've elected to purchase a new one, but Mike helped me make a sound decision and not waste time. Moreoever, Mike loves his work. He arrived within the promised time window, speedily replaced the part, and stayed to confirm that the oven was heating properly and that I was satisfied with the work. The price was extremely competitive. He made sure to communicate about what he was doing and why. A couple of reviewers comment on his rudeness, but I didn't see what they describe. I admit I thought he was a bit brusque at first, but I put that down to his being focused on getting the work done properly, safely, and efficiently. Very prompt response to request to fix leaking freezer. Came with all sorts of tools, quickly disassembled the freezer door and removed ice at the bottom of the freezer. Found a clogged drain which he unclogged and put everything back together. Freezer no longer leaks. Charged a reasonable flat rate of $200 for the whole thing. Very satisfied. read more

I had a Samsung dryer that was very noisy and making a loud grinding noise. Michel came the next day opened up the dryer and replaced the broken drum wheel that was causing the noise. I hired Michael B. Handyman to fix my five-year-old Bosch dishwasher. He was available quickly and offered a fair price, but when he arrived (after calling in late), he was rude and snapped at me as I explained the problem. After inspecting the dishwasher, he said a part needed to be ordered and would charge me $100 upfront and would return the next day to finish the job for $150 more. Then, out of nowhere, he changed his mind and claimed the dishwasher was beyond repair. When I questioned him, he completely lost control, screaming at me, calling me "effing stupid," and saying "I effing hate you!". He stormed out, yelling profanities. I've never dealt with such unprofessional and erratic behavior. Other Yelp reviews mention similar incidents, and his overly positive reviews seem suspicious. Avoid this handyman--he's unpredictable and not worth the risk. read more

I requested Michael to repair my range. He said it needed new expensive circuits. The next day I had another repairman come and he fixed it in 30 minutes, no new parts required. Hiring Michael was a waste of money. He made a mess of the kitchen and didn't clean up. He was talking nonsense the entire time and some of it was vulgar. I have no proof he was on drugs but two of us in the house concluded something was very wrong with his demeanor. read more

He offered insight into the cost to fix vs. replace (it's a rental unit fridge), the complexities / hang-ups of newer technologies, service availability of a few brands etc. He was onsite for about 20 min (no charge). I'll pursue a used replacement or scratch and dent over the expensive repair. Michel came to help replace an over-the-range microwave, which had an old-style bracket that places like Home Depot wouldn't service. He was knowledgeable and able to remove the old microwave and bracket, and properly installed the new bracket and microwave, even helping to test to make sure it worked properly. He showed up on time, and put in 3 screws in my oven (lots of "oh s**ts etc). He looked at my range hood, (I know I need an new one) and stated "it's this one" pointing to the right side motor. Ok, sure. I knew it would take a new hood. But he didn't even try to address/or tell me about unhooking that side etc. He just said it would cost more to fix than replace. Fair. But I told him i was looking for a stop-gap until my new hood would be installed. Having quoted me $150 for the "call" and having been here about 20 minutes, he then charged me $250. I paid it. Then he gave me his card, which stated his name, and that he was an apprentice. I've no problem with an apprentice. But $250 for a few screws and 20 minutes is rather too much. read more
