Stumbled upon this restaurant really; and it was pretty good - the cheese with the carne asada was fire! very good! Ordered the meats fajitas.... tasted VERY good but the ration of meat is small compared to other places....but all the other plates were fine with quantity. The Meat Fajitas does come with a bunch of their stuff as well, tortilla, guacamole, black baked beans, yellow rice, shredded cheese and sour cream. I was looking for a Tex-Mex place close to the Hilton Hotel. This Place was recommended to me, and although I don't think it's full-fledged Tex-Mex, there are more street tacos and fajitas. Some great looking burgers and some other things that are not what I would consider true TexMex However, service was top-notch from the receptionist to the bartender and the rest of the weight stuff! After figuring out what I wanted to eat, I was served an excellent margarita, the El Presidente. The flavor balance was terrific, just a little bit on what I would consider the small size. Let's go to a bigger glass, folks. I ended up going with the chicken and beef fajitas, which were served smoldering hot. The beef was cooked to perfection, as was the chicken. There were plenty of sides, including guacamole, sour cream, cheese, lettuce, and an extra tortilla to finish out the fajita meat, onions, and peppers. The presentation and flavor were magnificent and delivered on all points. I would highly recommend stopping here. read more

Despite, or more appropriately, because of the disappointment that I have in 6th Street in Austin, I ended up at Michelada's only because I was craving something local, and I couldn't find a darn thing on 6th Street besides four dollar pints and shot specials. 6th Street is a wasteland when it comes to food, and I really needed to eat something before I had a couple of beers and listened to some live music. So I saw Michelada's a half a block off of 6th Street like an oasis in the food desert. I often find that five star reviews come from places where I have low expectations. That's the case here. While I didn't expect much, I completely recommend this place if you're in the same situation as me. And if you do stop in, you will not be disappointed in the brisket tacos. Recommend downtown Austin stop. Easy to find, laid back vibe, and outdoor seating on good days. I was in town solo looking for a decent brunch and I place I could watch Sunday football. Found it! Not a large bar but with three TVs I was set. And the brunch was impressive. Big fan of New Mexican huevos rancheros and decided to try a Tex-Mex version. Quite good--everything is served on top of 2 crispy tostados, with the black beans having a bit of a kick. The eggs were perfect. A rich sauce complements, not overwhelms. Walking around before a work-event this evening, I stumbled upon it happenstance (I usually use Yelp(!) for assistance, but alas, my app privileges have been deactivated - thinking of big-tech censorship ala Meta, drawing parallels from Jeremy Stoppelman to Zuck). I guess Yelp(!) now discriminates against meat-eaters. In any event, I digress! It's a good restaurant with a great atmosphere and attentive staff. Since this is my first time here, I can't elaborate much more than that. I would be more than happy to recommend this place to friends, family and acquaintances. read more

Our party of six gathered here for a family dinner on a Thursday night before a Saturday wedding. We were seated immediately at a great table (many Tex Mex places downtown Austin either will not take reservations or want a reservation fee of $10 / person!!) The margaritas and Shiner Bocks were well received (the only ding is that they do not have tap beer) and served quickly. Most people ordered the fajitas with the shrimp fajitas being the overwhelming favorite. The steak enchilada was equally superb. On our way home from the airport after a few days in Las Vegas and my wife saw this place on her IG. We've walked on 6th street many a time and never realized that it was this close, Trinity between 5th/6th. It's a nice place, very authentic and lots of seating. The reviews of poor service didn't materialize while we were here. Drink order, chips and salsa and the food order were all very timely. Our waitress was attentive and service was overall very good. My wife ordered that pastor tacos. I had nachos with pastor, both dishes were very good. The chips were fresh, and the salsa tasty. My wife loved how they prepared the tortillas for her tacos and her only complaint was she would have loved to get a side of beans. She said that after tasting my nachos. The beans were delicious, and everything on the nacho plate was so good. No quality issues. I almost forgot, we ordered a couple of Michi's and they were nice and spicy. Definitely give the Michi's a try. Parking is all based on what you can find on the street. My take on this place, it's not a "locals place" it's perfect for the hotel and visiting 6th street crowd. I might bring friends from out of town if we were here for an event but it's priced for visitors. The poor reviews I read had to do with service and food quality, not an issue for us. read more

Final straw is to have the audacity to charge customers an additional $8 for chicken inside a $14 quesadilla. A $24 quesadilla that tastes like Taco Bell with 50 cents worth of chicken. The place is cute, but the food and the service isn't good. I was in town for work and a friend picked me up so we could catch up over lunch. The place wer were originally trying to go to had a 45 minute wait, this was across the street and we walked right in. They seemed to have a lot of staff, but we waited at least 10 minutes for anyone to come to the table. She never told us her name and we put in our order for everything immediately, not knowing when she would come back. The food took a while to come out, but by then we had chips and salsa. Talking was a bit of a challenge because it was LOUD in there. The music wasn't bad it was just too loud for a sit down restaurant. When the food finally came out, I got the wrong entree and it was not hot. Everything, from the salsa, to the rice, beans, enchilada sauce, the overwhelming flavor was black pepper. And I like pepper, but everything was flat. And again, not hot except for the black beans. I ended up with steak enchiladas even though I ordered chicken and the meat was very tender. When the waitress finally came round to check on us, she asked how everything was and I told her that I got the wrong entree but we didn't have time for it to be remade, her response was "Oh I thought you ordered steak". Maybe if it were not so loud, she could have heard me. I was charged for the more expensive entree, and frankly the prices are high, even for downtown. Especially for what you get. I didn't check Yelp before coming here and it looks like our experience is not the exception. We didn't try a cocktail, it was mid-day, but maybe this is a better spot for drinks and apps. read more

This is a must stop for me every time I am in Austin. Service is always great here and one of the waiters remembered me from back in June of this year. I love Migas and this place does it well and better than my go to breakfast spot back home. It is something about the touch of heat that's added with the jalapeños in the eggs. The green hot sauce is another added heat layer and less is more. I also ordered a house made soda with pineapple and coconut flavor. Very refreshing! I'm not understanding the low ratings here. We stopped by for lunch on Tuesday and the food and service were outstanding. The salsa and chips were some of the best I've had. Light crispy warm chips and the salsa had a kick. My fajitas were sizzling when they arrived with a healthy serving of grilled onions and all the fixings. We went here on a Thursday around 7 PM. It wasn't busy but more people started to flow in as the night went on. Service experience was solid! We ordered the Queso Esperanza. It was amazing. Perfect texture and steak was delicious. I had the Pastor build your own tacos and they were delicious too. Get it with the corn tortillas, it's the best way to go. There was no room for desert as the portions were sizable and chips and salsa also filled us up. Would recommend for a date night or group of friends to enjoy together.
