This pizza spot always hits the spot when you want local neighborhood pizza. We moved from the city about six years ago and this has been our go to. Our favorite thing to order is their grilled chicken salads and their grandma style pizzas. Forgot to mention their zucchini sticks are a great appetizer too. Ambiance is your typical pizza joint. There are a few tables to sit at and eat in. You also have stools at a long narrow table that look out of the large front window onto Yonkers Ave, as cars speed by. Customer service was attentive. When I walked in, there was one guy who was eating at a table and another one ordering at the counter. Then a guy who I thought was a customer came up behind me and asked me for my order. I ordered a small pie for 18$. Payed and then made it snow with a ton of Parmigiana cheese on top, took it, and headed home. The good: Pizza was thin. Sauce to cheese ratio was good, but it seemed to lean more towards "tomatoey" taste than cheesy. The bad: It tasted too chewy to me. I mean the bread was chewy, not as in cheesy chewy. Recently, I ordered a late night pizza from 'Michaelangelo's' who specialize in making thoughtless, uninspired food by rote. I always avoid them, but they were the only place still open and we just wanted a pizza to go with the movie. Half hour later they bring what can only be described as a doughy, uncooked or marginally cooked pizza. I called to ask if they were busy tonight because I don't understand how people who get paid to make food for other people to eat- a business that largely depends on some *culinary expertise* of the cuisine you're primarily serving, would think this was what someone who wants pizza would call to order. And I was just curious who, of just one or two guys handling the food there, who would open an oven, look at THIS universally unappetizing, almost raw pizza and say, 'yeah, that's good', box it and send it to a customer. To which the idiot on the phone answered, "everything we send out is fully cooked and no one ever complained". 'Yeah, you're probably that guy and I see how happy you leave 'em on your Yelp reviews. Last time, good work, genius'. He got nothing out of serving me sh8t. They didn't spend less money or make more money, they just got to treat a customer like a $25 a^^hole and stare at the stupidity on their phone five minutes sooner. I seriously don't get how they continue to run a food business so badly and serve crap everytime for as long as they have. It's clearly a case of lazy, skillless dummies going into the food business to serve crappy food, 'get over' making not much money and not ever thinking to be one bit embarrassed about it. To the people who work at Michaelangelos- does anyone there like to cook or prep food? Are you Italian or from Italians? Have you ever eaten Italian food or spent any time anywhere in Italy? This is the First time I tried this place! :::OUTSTANDING FOOD!::: BUT THEY FORGOT to add MY 2 CANNOLIS, when I finished my dinner, I began my coffee and my cannoli (2 large) was missing! My wife called the restaurant, I understand that people make mistakes, I do. But when Michael called, he told us that they would give us a credit... We ordered pizza from this place, because of the positive reviews. Well, that was a mistake we will never make again!! Have the people who give this place 2-5 stars, actually had good pizza? I have had better pizza in Colorado than this place. The dough had a weird taste, and it was undercooked. What little sauce and cheese they had on the pizza, was salty and greasy. ATTENTION: New Owners Here as of mid 2017-ish This PIZZERIA charges TAX on their food when you pay by CASH....even on a slice of pizza!!!! That is unheard of in this area. They should incorporate the tax in the cost. I'd rather be charged a flat $8 bucks for a hero than see $7 and end up paying $7.62. The second problem here is the customer service!!! The 30 or so year old guy at the register, who I believe is the New Owner, had zero personality. He was a smart-ass and thought his crap didn't stink! You almost felt that you were bothering him. I have been coming to Michael Angelos since it opened in 1997. I have picked up food, had food delivery to my house and even had them deliver food to my work staff. In the last year or so there is a new staff, with new owners. Changed a few things and raised the prices. Not happy but understandable and continued on being a loyal customer. Never had a unpleasant experience until today. Over the years we have grown as a family, so after school today I took my 4 year old daughter to get a slice of pizza. We asked to wash her hands and my hands in the same bathroom that we have used for 20+ years. We were told NO. You serve food to be eating with your hands but we can't clean our hands before we eat your food!?!?! She is taking care of his children and has a lot of mouths to feed. I ordered several things from the menu and the person taking the order couldn't be more sympathetic and helpful. Just ordered for the first time and it will be my last! How many things can go wrong with a single pie order on a weekday? Start counting... When the driver arrives, he has no receipt. I ask how much and he tells me. I then present a $2 off coupon and he says the price he gave is with the coupon. No receipt, same price with or without coupon, already I'm suspicious... I bring the order inside and find out my margherita pie has no basil on it. I call the store and explain what happened. The food taste good, though they charge you TAX on a cash order. No other pizzeria in our neighborhood does that, unless your using a credit card.
