Usually I am scheduled with the nurse practitioner. The first time I was scheduled with Dr. Gonzales, she spoke to me in such a patronizing manner even though I was there just to get some paperwork filled out for school. I would tell her things and she wouldn't listen, all for her to later then ask why I didn't do XYZ even though I had just explained it. In person, the office staff seems fine, but out of the three times I've called over the phones, I was hung up by them twice. Both times I had no idea why they just randomly hang up and when I'd call back, they'd pretend that they had no clue what I was talking about. Now that I am older and more financially independent, I was finally able to choose a PCP via my own research that has listened to me and has extremely kind staff. Maybe this office works for some, but my experiences here always made me avoid seeing my PCP for as long as possible. read more

I recently selected Dr. Michelle Gonzales as my Primary physician since Scripps no longer accepts my insurance. My appointments with her and Maurine Satterwhite, Nurse Practitioner were excellent! They are extremely knowledgeable, very efficient, and caring! It is never easy switching insurance providers, but I feel relieved that I made a great quality choice for my husband and myself as their new patients. The staff is also nice and the location is in a beautiful, safe area of Oceanside near my home. They are affiliated with Optum Insurance and they also offer a patient online secure portal to expedite more communication etc. The lab is close by and they are also networked with Tri-City Hospital, a local Urgent Care facility, and Specialists located within a few miles from their office. I have been a patient of Dr Gonzales for a couple of years now, and I have been quite pleasantly surprised with her bedside manner and degree of attentiveness to my concerns. I understand that primary care providers are pressured to fit a large number of patients on their daily office schedule, but I never feel that Dr G is rushed when I am there for a visit. I have received a prompt response when I message the office with prescription and scheduling requests, and have had no difficulty scheduling appointments. When I let her know that I was feeling like she was talking down to me, she blamed me. While I cried through the rest of our appointment she didn't so much as offer me a tissue. Her advice leaned toward "alternative" medicine and less toward science during my previous visit, which is not my thing, but I didn't want to hunt down another doc and I thought my visit was straight forward. My mistake! Editing to add that it's been two years since I last saw her and I'm still awed by how much she shamed me and talked down to me. Dr. Michelle and her staff have always been extremely kind, and accommodating. Visiting a doctor always seems like such a chore, but the girls handling the scheduling are kind and patient. The actual visit itself whether it be in person or online has always been very streamlined and friendly. This office deserves a "no star" rating. My mother called to see if Dr. Gonzales was accepting new patients. She was asked for her age. When my mother told her, the receptionist said, "Oh no, we're not accepting new patients." What the!?? After reading some other reviews, looks like the receptionist did my mother a favor after all. Horrible. She advertises as a full time doctor. ... Then bam....oh no, I am only part time, and if you want to see a doctor. ....good luck....you'd be lucky to get an appointment a month out or more. She doesn't listen to you. I wish I wouldn't have picked her but I had just moved here and didn't know any better. She's not helpful. I had fasting blood work done. Several numbers were off. She wasn't the least bit concerned. I knew they were off because my last doctor educated me on it. And I educated myself on it. When I asked her about the specific numbers, she acted like I was crazy. She's not in it for the love and care of people that's for sure. She doesn't take any time to get to know you. I met Dr. Gonzales for the first time this week and was very impressed! She was very thorough, extremely courteous and listened intently to every concern. I liked her enough to ask if she was accepting new patients, so I could refer my patients to her when they need to see a primary care doctor. I am shocked by some of the negative reviews on here, because I couldn't have been happier and I am very picky.... Dr. Gonzales is wonderful! She was my PCP over 10 years ago, but due to a change in insurance, I had to get a different doctor. Since I have had another insurance change, I went back to her and just had my "new patient" appointment, followed by a full blood lab/physical. She went through all of my numbers thoroughly and explained what it all meant. I don't understand why others have been upset that she is "part-time". She has every right to choose when she wants to work and balance her time for what's best for her family. I would recommend her to others and had a very positive, professional experience. read more

Dr was late coming into appointment. Never acknowledged her tardiness. When i explained the information she was giving me was not helpful, she just said i haven't done it properly. If I could give zero stars I would. She misdiagnosed my mother. She won't refer you when you request a specialist. My mother had a basal cell carcinoma that was diagnosed by another doctor. Dr. Gonzalez misdiagnosed it for 2 years. She tried burning it off. Now my mom has a crater in her face because of the length of time that lapsed due to Dr. Gonzalez. They treat me with respect, listen to me carefully, and are not afraid to think "outside the box" , including using natural remedies, to figure out and treat my issues. Dont even consider of getting Dr Gonzales as your Primary Doctor. Shes horible i had an appointment today and tried to get a prescrition for some new pills that are FDA approved for weightloss and she didnt even consider it she said straight out no and she made me feal like i had to convince her so i could get them. Really bad experince hard to get an appointment dont even have late appointmnets. So glad i dropped her i dont recomend her. read more

Don't be fooled by the other reviews, Dr. Gonzales is an amazing Dr! I was worried about a certain medication I was taking and she called me HERSELF to reassure me on every question, side-effects I felt, what I was experiencing, everything! She took her time on the phone with me to reassure that I was going to be fine. I got in with her the next day and she spent probably more than a half hour listening to everything I had to say. It was like taking to a friend. Except this friend is very knowledgable. She had answers for all my questions. I have been going here for about 4 years now & I don't plan on changing.
