I have an older Yukon and of course it had to breakdown and leak tranny fluid all over my friends driveway when the temperature was ZERO! I drove away not knowing I had a leak and pulled over less than a mile away because the transmission was acting erratically. I was pretty upset as I felt that I might have trashed my tranny.... A $2500 repair. I had my Yukon towed to Prompt and the owner Chuck got it in right away. He said that it appeared that I hadn't damage the trans since they added fluid and drove it, but it had a serious leak. They pulled the transmission and found that something on the torque convertor had sheered off and that the pump bearing that had been previously used was plastic and it should have been metal. I had had the transmission rebuilt less than two years ago by a guy out of his pole barn when I fell on hard times. Clearly that was a mistake. I got what I paid for. Chuck offered to let me take it back to the guy who repaired it previously. I said that I wanted Chuck to fix it right. He did and I picked up my truck today. He was very fair with me on the repair bill. Thank you Chuck!

Everything sounds good with "deals" here and there, but overview shows a massive markup. Any place where labor is double the parts (that are already marked up) should raise questions immediately. And verify that the problems that are said by one place are said by other reputable places. Yes, a 10 day old apple on the counter tastes fresh when all you been given were rotten ones. I went to their shop because my steering wheel was very hard to turn, felt like I lost power…read moresteering. They diagnosed my power steering pump and rack and pinon were not the culprit, but it was caused by the lower steering column shaft that got rusted. Gilbert's dad is a very seasoned mechanic who only took about a few minutes to determine the fault. I had to go back on 2 occasions because the replacement part required was not stocked in any local store. The diagnose fee was $180 and for the actual replacement, they charged me $80 for labor and I had to provide the part. I am deducting one star because I felt just for labor alone being $260, it was a little high. A month later the car's steering wheel is loose again and we were afraid to drive it. I called their shop and went back to have it checked again. Gilbert's dad looked at the car and he explained the mechanic who worked on my car didn't tighten the steering column enough and it's now loose. I told him maybe it's just the shaft's steering wheel end that is loose and he was able to confirm it. He also drove the car inside to have it lifted to check the shaft's connection to the rack and pinion, which I was glad to hear that wasn't loose. I was out the shop in less than 25minutes. It has been about 2 month now and so far, it's been holding up.

It was cranking but the engine wasn't turning over. He let me know that 1 can bring drop off the car to his lot and he'd take a look at it the next day. I got the tow the very next day and he immediately started working on my car. Gilbert called to let me know that I desperately needed a tune up and a couple codes came up and that it was quite possible it was my throttle body and that he was suggested the tune up. The price was around 5650. I gave Gilbert the go ahead to proceed with the repairs. I was working at the time so had Gilbert contact my fiancé. My fiancé let me know that Gilbert called him and told him that he flushed out the gas tank because it contained ethanol. Gilbert did this, without my approval AFTER THELFACT. The price increased another $100 and some change. I spoke to Gilbert about not getting approval from me before proceeding with the repairs. What if I didn't have that additional $100+ dollars? It was inconsiderate and I think communication is very important! He apologized and knocked off a few dollars from the total. I picked up my car and it was a bit sluggish. It ran for 4 days before it died again. I called Gilbert to let him know it died again and he offered to cover the tow to take a look at it. He said it's possibly the throttle body as some parts come faulty and since it had a warranty, we could swap it out. I had the flu and didn't have the capacity to deal with that issue so I let him know I'd call in a couple days. I called him to see if the offer was still available and Gilbert told me that if it wasn't the throttle, that I'd have to be "back-logged" because he has so many cars on his lot right now. My fiancé called him and Gilbert offered to give him the part so that he can "Youtube how to switch it out, because it shouldn't be that hard." In what world does a mechanic tell you to take your money but do the work yourself to fix it?! My fiancé said absolutely not and Gilbert said he would do it. It took two weeks to get my car up there finally. He said that it was another censor and it was going to cost $350 to fix, that he just fired 3 mechanics so we should take it somewhere else. We also had to reimburse him for the tow back to the shop. We're out of 2 months with no car, almost $1k and still nothing. After he got that money, I stopped feeling like a priority. I do not recommend this place to get your car fixed. Gilbert "seems" like he cares but once he's paid you and yr car will no longer be his problem. There was also a piece missing from my trunk that I never got back and when I asked, of course he has no idea! SMH save yr time and your money!
