From the beginning, Mike, the owner, was very friendly and assured us that his company was honest, reliable, and committed to providing quality work. Unfortunately, our overall experience has not lived up to those expectations. Throughout the project, we experienced repeated scheduling delays, and once the work finally began, it took several weeks to complete. Afterward, we also had to repeatedly follow up to have leftover materials removed and the job site properly cleaned. Mike was dealing with a personal injury at the time and was unable to come out and inspect the completed work himself, which we understood. I will give credit where it is due--the siding itself looks very nice. However, the delays, lack of follow-through, and condition in which the property was left made an already large home improvement project much more stressful than it needed to be. Unfortunately, we have now discovered a much more serious concern. The work was completed in February, and as the weather became warmer, we noticed that the second floor of our home was becoming extremely hot. Upon further inspection, we discovered that when the new soffit was installed, the existing attic ventilation openings in the soffit appear to have been covered. Since discovering this issue, we have also found mold in our attic. Naturally, we are extremely concerned about the lack of proper attic ventilation and the potential damage this may be causing to our home. We contacted Mike and Chicagoland Builders and have asked them to come out and address the issue. Unfortunately, instead of receiving a clear plan for correcting it, we feel we have been getting the runaround. Mike has repeatedly referred to the crew that performed the installation, but from our perspective, Chicagoland Builders is the company we hired and entrusted with our home. Regardless of which crew performed the work, we believe the company should stand behind the completed job and address any problems resulting from the installation. We are not asking for anything unreasonable. We simply want Chicagoland Builders to come back, inspect the soffit installation, restore the necessary attic ventilation, and correct any installation issues for which they are responsible. We would much rather be able to update this review and say that Chicagoland Builders stood behind its work and made things right. At this point, however, I would caution anyone considering Chicagoland Builders to make sure they carefully inspect the completed work, particularly soffit and attic ventilation, and confirm that everything has been installed properly before considering the job complete. Mike and Chicagoland Builders, we are asking you to please stand behind your work and help us resolve this immediately. We trusted your company with our home and paid for the work with the expectation that it would be completed properly. We are simply asking that someone come out immediately, inspect the issue, and make the necessary corrections. We sincerely hope you will do the right thing so this matter can be resolved.

But when it comes to the flooring work, a few things happened: a. The majority of my purchased laminate materials was wasted due to installation challenges resulted from uneven subfloors: Before project started, I explicitly confirmed with the company on the product I intended to purchase and received the thumbs up. When my original carpet was removed, the contractor quickly found out that my subfloor was uneven, which present challenges to installation. With two attempts using almost all the materials, we concluded the product was not viable unless we either level the floor. That decision could have been made earlier b. The vinyl installation was suboptimal: Then I suggested I go together to pick a more flexible vinyl product with the contractor. As you can see in the picture, the installation was sub-optimal. The contractor attempted to float the vinyl but multiple pieces popped up after installation. Then an attempt to glue down some of the pieces was pursued. What you see on the picture was the outcome. At this point, this project has started since two months ago. I do not know what else can be done, nor do I want to push for another cycle of reinstallation so I closed the project. The other day, I walked in the new ORD airport pedestrian walkway. The vinyl planks there were well installed despite the fact the ORD subfloor was not even either. Typically, I'd expect the output of a residential project to be higher quality than commercial space, presumably due to smaller space. Am I missing something? I appreciate the hard work but I really cannot give thumbs up to the output. This is an investment property. I don't even know how my future renters would value the home improvement after spent more than five thousand dollars on it.

I repeatedly called their office and spoke to Lynda who promised to speak to Phil and get back to me. Weeks later I am still awaiting a call. Take a look at their work and judge for yourself.
