One of the best Ethiopian spots in the city! The service was warm and friendly, and the food was phenomenal. Both the beef and lentil Sambusa were amazing. We loved the Injera with Yebeg Tibs (spicy lamb, incredibly well-seasoned) and the veggie combo (especially the lentils, collard greens, and chickpeas). We will definitely be coming back!

Terrible experience. Service: 0/5 Ambiance: 0/5 Food: 3/5 My partner and I were so excited to try this restaurant, as we love Ethiopian food. We ordered one drink and the vegetarian platter as well as Doro Wat (chicken dish). The drink never came even though we asked multiple times. There were no napkins on the table. We asked multiple times for napkins since your hands get very dirty eating Ethiopian. They finally came the third time I asked, but it was too late since we already finished the meal. Side plates never came either even though we asked twice. The food had good flavor but half of the vegetarian dishes were cold, though they've been served at every other Ethiopian restaurant we have been to. We had a 25% Entertainment Book coupon that the server refused to accept. He stated it had to be used during the week, we came on a Sunday, though the coupon didn't state that anywhere in the fine print. After going back and forth with the server he agreed to give us 10% off. Needless to say, we will not be coming back to this establishment as there are many other Ethiopian restaurants on the city that have much better food and actually provide service.

We had an amazing dinner at Michuu. We got the veggie/vegan combo for 2 (pictured). Their injera is also 100% teff and gluten free, which can be hard to find. I think this is one of the best Ethiopian food and injera I've ever had (and I've been to places all over the country). The service was also outstanding, very friendly and even offered us some delicious honey wine to try!

Michuu Ethiopian's cuisine is scratch-made with love!! "Wow, wow, wow!" Michuu opened in early May, and there Lemu cooks the way she learned as a girl. She makes everything from scratch. Her vegetarian spreads are fresh and vibrant: berbers-spiced lentils, chopped collards; or imperial, purple-colored beets. Ours surrounded large portions of chicken perfectly spiced Honestly, this is the best Ethiopian food I've ever had, and I've had an awful since this is my favorite cuisine!!

Excellent authentic Ethiopian restaurant. The flavors are bright and bold. The dishes are both familiar and new to discover, the I jets soft and soaking all the stews, and the tea is hot and sweet. Highly recommend!

Excellent food and service and the BYOB is a huge plus. Server was also very helpful in dealing with food allergy questions.

Fabulous food, friendly service, reasonable prices. I doubt I've ever had better Ethiopian food. Off the beaten track, but well worth it.

My Demera Messob combo had injera bread roll which is essentially a sourdough crepe. It was great for scooping up the sauce in the ye-beg wot (lamb) and doro wot (spicy chicken). If you've never had Ethiopian food, this is a nice introduction but it's a bit pricey for what you get.

I think when dining at Timeout Market, a certain set of expectations needs to be in place. Namely,…read morethe food you're getting is probably not going to be the best version of what the restaurant is and the price will definitely be on the higher end. Demera is no exception to that. I've dined at their regular brick and mortar restaurant and also have eaten plenty of Ethiopian restaurants when I used to live in the DC area. For me, the food here is a a little below what you'd get at the regular location, and for $18 for the combo, it definitely feels a bit lacking on quantity. But that's the thing with dining out at Timeout Market. You don't go here expecting to have an amazing meal. Especially when you're in the west loop with so many great spots. You dine here because you're with picky and/or indecisive eaters and you're just trying to hangout and eat some food. There's so many vendors here there's a little something for everyone even if it's not the best version of it. And so for that, I can't really fault Demera since it was still a solid meal. The meat combo was well seasoned (I prefer the chicken over the beef if you were to pick one), the mushroom tibs was fine, I enjoyed what I got.

I took my mom to this Eritrean restaurant when she was in town and we got the meat and veggie platter that comes with the injera and it was so so good. The staff were friendly and patient, especially helpful for someone who doesn't eat Ethiopian/Eritrean food all the time. We ordered a beef dish and a chicken dish and both were flavorful and satisfying. The beef was tender and well-seasoned, and the chicken was nicely spiced without being overwhelming. Everything came out hot and fresh, and the portions were generous. And the injera... honestly, it was so good I couldn't stop nibbling on it. Soft, tangy, and exactly the right texture for scooping up the stews. The meal felt hearty, comforting, and different from the usual dinner routine in the best way. If you're anywhere near Devon/Broadway/Clark, this spot is a great walk-over choice for a solid, flavorful dinner. I'll definitely be back to work through more of the menu.
