We visited Michuu on a Saturday night and had made a reservation. The food was amazing. We had a family of 5 adults. We had some sambusas both beef and lentil. They were fresh hot and delicious. We had 2 orders of the veggie combos for 1. We also got the Zil - Zil Tibs (beef) Doro Wat (chicken and egg) and the Yebeg Tibs (lamb). I know we are hogs but also took a lot home. They arranged all of that in the picture attached so we could easily share it all. The Yebeg Tibs was the most tender and delicious lamb I have ever had regardless of type of restaurant. Everything was fantastic. I have been to 3 Ethiopian restaurants and have made a few dishes myself. This was by far the best! The time to prepare and cook our meal must have been a lot, but we sure appreciate it. The chef/owner even helped wait tables. We look to coming back!

One of the best Ethiopian spots in the city! The service was warm and friendly, and the food was phenomenal. Both the beef and lentil Sambusa were amazing. We loved the Injera with Yebeg Tibs (spicy lamb, incredibly well-seasoned) and the veggie combo (especially the lentils, collard greens, and chickpeas). We will definitely be coming back!

Terrible experience. Service: 0/5 Ambiance: 0/5 Food: 3/5 My partner and I were so excited to try this restaurant, as we love Ethiopian food. We ordered one drink and the vegetarian platter as well as Doro Wat (chicken dish). The drink never came even though we asked multiple times. There were no napkins on the table. We asked multiple times for napkins since your hands get very dirty eating Ethiopian. They finally came the third time I asked, but it was too late since we already finished the meal. Side plates never came either even though we asked twice. The food had good flavor but half of the vegetarian dishes were cold, though they've been served at every other Ethiopian restaurant we have been to. We had a 25% Entertainment Book coupon that the server refused to accept. He stated it had to be used during the week, we came on a Sunday, though the coupon didn't state that anywhere in the fine print. After going back and forth with the server he agreed to give us 10% off. Needless to say, we will not be coming back to this establishment as there are many other Ethiopian restaurants on the city that have much better food and actually provide service.

We had an amazing dinner at Michuu. We got the veggie/vegan combo for 2 (pictured). Their injera is also 100% teff and gluten free, which can be hard to find. I think this is one of the best Ethiopian food and injera I've ever had (and I've been to places all over the country). The service was also outstanding, very friendly and even offered us some delicious honey wine to try!

Michuu Ethiopian's cuisine is scratch-made with love!! "Wow, wow, wow!" Michuu opened in early May, and there Lemu cooks the way she learned as a girl. She makes everything from scratch. Her vegetarian spreads are fresh and vibrant: berbers-spiced lentils, chopped collards; or imperial, purple-colored beets. Ours surrounded large portions of chicken perfectly spiced Honestly, this is the best Ethiopian food I've ever had, and I've had an awful since this is my favorite cuisine!!

Excellent food and service and the BYOB is a huge plus. Server was also very helpful in dealing with food allergy questions.

Fabulous food, friendly service, reasonable prices. I doubt I've ever had better Ethiopian food. Off the beaten track, but well worth it.

I ordered the spinach sambusas and I got the Gomen with two sides: the red lentils and the yellow lentils. The sambusas were served as a trio and they are a good size, with hefty portions of spinach inside. The problems was that they were heavily overly seasoned. And they were served with a minuscule pink colored dipping sauce which did not pair well with the flavor of these appetizers at all. The njera came wrapped in plastic wrap, which I thought was an interesting choice since plastic doesn't hold heat well. Then I opened my main course and half of the plate is greens. Huge portion. And in the two side dish cups are what appear to look like red soup and yellow soup. The red lentils were very spicy. I'm used to a flavorful spice from Ethiopian red lentils, but these were not enjoyable. The yellow lentils had very little seasoning and the texture was like mashed potatoes. I did not enjoy this meal at all unfortunately.

I would definitely recommend Demera to anyone looking to try Ethiopian cuisine, whether it's your first time or you're already a fan. If you're planning a date night in Uptown, this is a great place to start the evening, then head across the street to the Green Mill for live jazz and cocktails. It makes for a fun night out!

There was water immediately, but then there simply wasn't a server. When he finally arrived (from outside the restaurant?) it was close to 8. Nice guy, but we were hungry. Placed our order and waited. And waited. He finally came by to say the food would be out soon, as others around us were served and lots of carryout orders flew out the door. Our too tiny appetizers came, but nothing more. We waited and remained hungry. We asked him to check, and we waited. When the food finally arrived it was past 8:30. We had ordered the four person platter, for four people, but it simply wasn't enough. We wanted to order more, but again there was no waiter available and a sad realization that it might take another hour. We paid and left. Bottom line is that we arrived hungry, we sat hungry for over an hour, and we left unsatisfied.

My Demera Messob combo had injera bread roll which is essentially a sourdough crepe. It was great for scooping up the sauce in the ye-beg wot (lamb) and doro wot (spicy chicken). Namely,…read morethe food you're getting is probably not going to be the best version of what the restaurant is and the price will definitely be on the higher end. Demera is no exception to that. I've dined at their regular brick and mortar restaurant and also have eaten plenty of Ethiopian restaurants when I used to live in the DC area. For me, the food here is a a little below what you'd get at the regular location, and for $18 for the combo, it definitely feels a bit lacking on quantity. But that's the thing with dining out at Timeout Market. You don't go here expecting to have an amazing meal. Especially when you're in the west loop with so many great spots. You dine here because you're with picky and/or indecisive eaters and you're just trying to hangout and eat some food. There's so many vendors here there's a little something for everyone even if it's not the best version of it. And so for that, I can't really fault Demera since it was still a solid meal. The meat combo was well seasoned (I prefer the chicken over the beef if you were to pick one), the mushroom tibs was fine, I enjoyed what I got.
