McDuffs has always been one of our favorite restaurants in town. Lately it has become a bit unrecognizable. The staff is still very helpful and friendly but the food is lacking its deliciousness. This side of fries was not only sad but they were hard and cold. Hopefully things turn around soon. read more

We were there on the worst day for this business. The building, the patio, were especially inviting and a great place to chill with your group and pooches. We showed up and the place was pretty busy, we found a table for our party of 8 and realized there was no service you had to order food and grog from the bar then they bring it out to you. As we ordered drinks the server behind the counter informed us that they were too busy and no longer serving food. We went back to the table and about 10 minutes later the manager came out and made the rounds to each table explaining that the kitchen was overwhelmed so they decided to stop taking orders. She continued to say that at this point they do not know how much food they have left and was concerned that they didn't have enough to fulfill the tickets on the line. Then a few moments later the drinks arrived, by then we were on a mission to find something. But poor Sandpoint had a lot of establishments closed probably due to labor shortage and/or food shortage. My only criticism about my is planning, right, if you don't have the staff or the food reduce your capacity by reducing your seating. Or perhaps go on a waitlist and then you control the flow. Happy staff, happy customers. I look forward to my next visit to Sandpoint so I can them another shot. The food I did see looked good and if I recall the menu catered to every palette. Plus I was bummed I didn't get a chance to taste some beer. read more

We go to MickDuff's fairly often as it's comfortable for family. Last night we went there to celebrate my husband's birthday as we had the grandkids, 12 & 13, with us. I asked the hostess to let our server know it was my husband's birthday. Then, when seated and waiting for our son and kids to arrive, my husband mentioned to the server that today was his birthday! She said nothing. No mention or special attention was given and no one, including us, mentioned it again. To me, it was very disappointing that you haven't trained your staff better. Our server was very nice and food was good but although I said nothing to anyone, I was very annoyed at your lack of warmth. read more

I have been in MickDuff's a few times but I have never stayed because they are always slammed. Yesterday, we stopped in the afternoon, starving ready to eat. The service was great, of course we were the only customers. But shout out anyway! I ordered the Brisket Sandwich which cones with brisket, blue cheese crumbles and a cabbage slaw or something. I have to say I didn't enjoy this much. the only flavor was the blue cheese and the cabbage was cooked down so much it provided no texture. Because I was hungry, i kept going and when she brought me a side of the hot wing sauce it made such a difference. It was way better with the contrast of the hot sauce. Unfortunately, the bread cant hold that much moisture so I cant give this place a good review because the taste, texture, and the wet bread. I am not a fan at all. The food was very good. We had salads, burgers and prime rib sandwiches. The cross cut fries with Gorgonzola cheese were the highlight and excellent! The pitcher of Root Beer was excellent. The service was very good, surprisingly the waitress never used a note pad or digital pad to enter our order. She did well remembering all five orders. She missed one small detail but remedied it rather quickly. The Ambiance was also surprisingly good. The TV's had the games on, and although it's open to the bar the noise level was excellent. There's not a lot of seating so be prepared, PRO TIP, call ahead and get on the wait list! read more

Went here for the first time tonight. The bartender recommended the glorious bowl with a few modifications and I must admit, she was spot on. The food and ambience are amazing. Service was awesome up until we ordered, and then we were pretty much ignored the rest of the evening unless our glasses were low. Overall, a great place with good beer and great food. What an ideal place to go for beer and eats! The Long Bridge Lager was so flavorful, yet light. My new favorite beer! We had the chicken Caesar, fantastic, and the Reuben sandwich- the best Reuben we have ever had. (And we've had a lot.) we sat out on the shady patio and enjoyed the ambience. The building is a gorgeously re-done historic building, very cool. Mickey (a co-owner), was there, and was super friendly and hospitable. We highly recommend it! read more

If I lived in Sandpoint, I would be a fixture here. As it is, I'm merely a part-time mascot. Beer: great micros on tap, all solidly crafted. The IPA's (yes they usually have TWO hop bombs on tap at once!) both pack ample hop-wallup. If you're not into craft brews, they have some lighter offerings that can probably please even the pussiest of pussies (you). Food: Very good! I would call it restraunt food, "pub food" or "bar food" is an insult. Gorgonzola is prominently featured in many items which is very appreciated by yours truly (come to think of it...a lot of Northern Idaho do that...why is this?) The Ahi is top notch, as is the steak, and the steak salad. Burgers come in multiple forms (black bean, beef, buffalo, etc), so there are multiple flavor combos to be had. This is a great place to unwind after a day on the lake/mountains. The only time I don't come here after an exhaustive hike are Sundays, they close a bit too early (I head to Eichardt's instead). read more

This is a pretty nice place to sit outside, enjoy a beer and watch people. The waitresses were attentive and informative when making a beer selection. They came and checked on us frequently enough without being annoying. The beer was pretty good but wasn't amazing. According to my girlfriend the BLTA was amazing. Apparently one of the best she had ever eaten. It had way too much green stuff in it for my tastes so I will take her word and satisfied smile as evidence. We have been going to MickDuff's since our kids were little, and they are college-aged! They brew great beer and serve up some killer casual food. This is a loud, family-friendly sports bar hang-out on 1st street that's easy to love. They care about their ingredients and use local products when available, grass fed beef and offer gluten free and vegetarian options. Their burgers are probably the most popular meal on the menu and can be ordered with grass fed beef, organic chicken or even a grilled portobello mushroom. If your diet allows, their signature soup is Beer Cheese soup and it's just something you must experience - share it if you have to. And my husband would endorse this recommendation and would add the Goathorn or Western Stack burger. I'm a huge fan of the Tri-tip salad and the fries. I CANNOT lay off of them (the regular fries, not the waffle fries). The waffle fries come with gorgonzola all over them if you're a fan. If you're with a group, consider participating in Trivia Tuesday! You'll have to show up early to get a table (it's very popular) though. Bring your smartest friends to stack the deck. Overall a great experience. Our server was awesome, and the $6 happy hour appetizer was a very generous portion! Try the calamari, very good. Both sandwich and burger were ok. Our only complaint is the fries and the crisscut (waffle) fries did not seem fresh and/or not cooked long enough. They were very bendy and not hot. Also, the waffle fries were a $3 upgrade... pretty hefty upgrade price, especially when not cooked right. Oh and... Soup was very good as well! Strolling through the quaint town of Sandpoint, we found this little local gem. A cute Irish pub with a cozy atmosphere. Staff was friendly and patient as we kept changing our minds on what to order. Food was quickly delivered to our table, even the order put in after the table order. Tastey sandwiches and hot fries. The hubby had the Cuban sandwich and it was pretty close to the real thing. Our daughter enjoyed her burger, and our son gobbled up his food. The beer selection was a mix of ales, reds, darks and locally brewed. The only bad thing I can say about the place is the bathroom is too small and seems to be popular with a line. read more
