If you haven't tried Mickey G's you are missing out on a real treat. Not only are his clam cakes and chowder the best in Northern RI, he offers many other great dishes. Try the chicken pot pie, the Shepard's pie or the chicken strips. Scrumptious like Mom use to make. Check Mickey out. You can often find his red trailer in the church parking lot at Park Square in Woonsocket. You will not be disappointed. read more

Mickey G is the best for fish & chips, chowder & clamcakes, doughboys, and so much more!! When you bite into his clamcakes, you can see the clams inside. His chowder isn't just potatoes, its chock full of clams and flavorful. I love visiting his truck at Park Ave, Woonsocket. And what a great guy to boot. Mike is both friendly and professional, and an all-around great guy. read more

We use Mickey every year for our company cookout. We always get the lobster and steak packages. Their food is amazingly fresh and tasty. We stopped the other day when he was set up at Park Square and got chowder and doughboys. If you see the red trailer... stop... you will be glad you did. read more

Growing up on homemade clam chowder and clam cakes, I tend to be a harsh critic when it comes to the two. BUT MY GOODNESS, THIS IS THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD (aside from my dads and grandpas). It was fresh, flavorful, and affordable. The clam cakes were just the right consistency and crispiness, the white chowder was thick and delicious. We live down by Narragansett, but I'll be making trips up North for these bad boys. read more

You've probably strolled past Mickey G's chowder and clam cake truck at every RI fair and festival you've ever attended -- from Foster Old Home Days, to Woonsocket's Autumn Fest to Johnston's Apple Festival -- without giving them much thought. (Fair food came be notoriously hit or miss, and can sometimes turn a fun lunch into an unfortunate digestive misadventure.) So as you travel from fair to festival all summer and fall, keep your eyes peeled for the best chowder and clam cakes you're going to find. But don't expect a gourmet meal like you get in these new foofy, snooty, trendy food trucks. Mickey G's features old-school chowder and clam cakes the way they were supposed to be made -- in mass quantity by a veteran cook with buckets of fresh clams and juice and a well-worn fry-o-later. It's the best comfort food you are likely to find all year served in a styrofoam bowl with a plastic spoon. And keep your eye on the newspaper, too. Mickey G's provides the chowder and clam cakes for many civic fundraisers like schools, scout troops and churches. Traditional, great, gritty, local food for a good cause. Mike has catered a bunch of events for our company. Everything from a plain cookout, to a lobster boil and even an evening event for designers. Food is always awesome. Mike is a super person who cooks great food! When he pulls in with his truck, everyone knows it's going to be a great day!! read more

Omg want to give him 20 stars but it just doesn't go that high. This guy is amazing and def one of the nicest guys I've met. Chowder and clam cakes are top notch as well as his fish and chips!!!! Everytime we see that truck sitting in the Tucker field lot, we must go. Keep it up. We love your food and you have a wonderful personality which now a days is hard to come by!!!! read more

Hired Mickey G's for a party at my house. It was a HUGE HIT!!!! Micky and his crew arrived 45 minutes before the party and like a well-oiled machine - got a huge grill set up, and got the shack ready for business! Clamcakes, chowda', french fries, hamburgers, hot dogs- the works! Guests just went up to the window and ordered their lunch! The food was EXCELLENT - everyone raved about the chowder and clam cakes...and the SERVICE was so awesome! Mike is friendly and made everyone at the party comfortable and happy! I LOVE MICKEY G'S!!!! And the best part was NO cooking for us! We actually got to visit with our guests instead of standing over a grill....or running food in and out of the house all day. I HIGHLY recommend this catering service! read more

We see Mickey G's at the Johnston Festival every year. We always look forward to eating at his truck. Best place to eat at the festival. Food is always delicious and fresh. He dead not skimp on ingredients. Clam cakes have plenty of clams, chicken, chowder all excellent. A definite must eat! read more

Mickey catered a lobster feast for 90 at our home last night. He and his right hand man Larry were on time in delivering the tasty clam cakes and chowder (both red and white) appetizer followed by steamed lobster with corn on the cob and mesh bags of soft shell clams (from Machias Bay, Maine), chourico, potatos, and onion. The food quality and portion sizes were outstanding; you can't go wrong with Mickey G! read more

I have done it, probably far too many times than is good for anyone, but it beats negotiating bites of veggies at home with your youngest child while simultaneously screaming at your oldest to get all their baseball stuff together and into a bag because they're already 10 minutes late for warmups. We've all been there, am I right? And as for your husband, he can buy his own soft pretzel, because clearly you have enough to worry about. You can get 20 pieces of the most delicious gum in the world for a dollar. And you will definitely need all twenty pieces in a single day or night because a piece loses its flavor in about .023 seconds. If you're an adult, you spit the old one out and pop another. If you're a kid, you just jam two more into your craw to pep up the existing piece. If you think I'm kidding, take a look at some of the ballplayers in the complex. At any given moment, the average kid has 8-10 pieces shoved in their mouths. Isn't that part of the fun, though? If early-onset TMJ isn't your thing, but you still want something sweet, they have lots of delicious candy and soda too. The people who work there are all great. Mostly a volunteer staff of parents and surprisingly unsurly teens. Rooney's: come for the food, stay for the opportunity to get hit by a foul ball from a game you're not even watching.

The mole lacked the depth and richness I was hoping for, and by the end of the meal I realized it was the kind of entrée I'll probably forget in a few weeks. It satisfied my appetite, but it didn't leave me wanting to come back. Service at the bar was also slower than expected, both for drinks and food. Nothing was unfriendly--it just lacked the energy and attentiveness that can elevate a meal. To be fair, restaurants don't earn a 4.9 rating by accident, so it's entirely possible I simply ordered the wrong dish, even with the recommendation. I'll chalk this one up to a mismatch between my expectations and my experience. If I find myself back in Cumberland, I'll probably explore another restaurant before returning here. I genuinely hope others have the experience reflected in the reviews, but this visit just didn't quite live up to the hype for me.
