While the new asphalt driveway we had installed is not perfect, it is 95% better than what we had. Aesthetically the drive looks very nice with a few exceptions. There are a few cuts in areas that are not symmetrical side to side, but not awful. There are a few uneven spots in the driveway, as well as at the bottom, that puddle a bit of water that could not be seen when the job was being done. Also, not awful. Then there are two areas along the sidewalk where water puddles which will be a problem for ice when the time comes. I mentioned this to Drew when the job was being done and he said it was because the sidewalk had sunk a bit. I thought, well maybe, let me see it when everything is settled and wait for rain. Well, it's not that at all. It's because the asphalt is raised over the lip of the sidewalk in those areas which then collects water. The sidewalk was never flat to the stone driveway we had previously so I blame myself for not making a point of that to Drew before the job. But then again, in my opinion, the asphalt should not be over the lip of the sidewalk in some areas and not others. In other words, make it even or lower the asphalt along the sidewalk to avoid any puddling. This is not to give a bad review. It is to point out details that others may not think about when looking to do a project like this. Drew has a wealth of knowledge and experience. He was very polite, interesting in conversation and followed through on everything. The crew worked VERY WELL together, very efficient. They left us nothing to have to clean up which was a big plus. Drew and both of Mickey's sons, who were also very engaging with us about the job, were on the job on work day . Several neighbors have made nice comments on the driveway as well as several others stopping in their cars to admire, make comments and take a picture of the sign in the yard, so hopefully more jobs were created for Mickey's Asphalt. I did give a good word for those that asked me about Mickey's service. Overall, we are happy with the job. Price was reasonable. read more

They did a nice job repaving our driveway, but I do have a few comments about their attention to detail and apparent lack of customer care. We requested several quotes and Mickey's lowered their price by $100 to earn our business (from a $5000+ job). They arrived on time and were quick. However, they were so quick that their equipment crashed into a large ceramic planter - which immediately broke into pieces - along with the plants I had in it. The driver apologized and said he would gladly pay us for the planter this following weekend (a no-show). Meanwhile, I had to go a buy a replacement to rescue the flowers that could be salvaged ($70 and about 40 lbs!). When my husband asked Mickey about the planter, he simply scoffed that we would request payment for a $70 planter - which is strange since he lowered his price by $100 and thought that was worth doing. It wasn't worth chasing him for the money when all I really wanted was for them to show some respect to us for the inconvenience they caused. I guess they don't value that part of "customer care." read more

Mickey's Asphalt Co re-paved my driveway in the summer of 2016. In the fall of 2018 small area in the front of a garage door sank in. Since I was given 3 years warranty I called to report an issue and schedule a repair. For the first week I was promised that someone will call back to schedule an appointment , next two weeks no one picked the phone. I understood that the owner is extremely dishonest person and just avoiding all my attempts to contact him. I had to resort to reporting Mickey's Asphalt Co. to Better Business Bureau and describing my experiences here on Yelp. The company was in my neighborhood replacing a couple asphalt driveways and they could see that my driveway was being maintained with the hopes of putting off replacing it all. Billy knocked on my door and explained that they were looking to stay in the neighborhood for a few days replacing 2 to 3 driveways a day and when I told him I was not ready to spend the money, he explained that he might be able to get my price below average even though there work is way above average if I could do it the next day along with the other jobs he had. I researched what the average price was for my driveway and the price he gave me was a little lower than average and so I agreed. It appears that I made a fantastic decision, their work is outstanding and seems way above average. It's like watching an artist work and their paint brushes are the machines. I watched as they removed the entire asphalt, scraped and leveled the sub base filling ruts and regrading. And then I met Mickey, who is the type of expert you want along with his sons who are involved doing the work most every step of the way as they put more than three inches of asphalt down with the most cosmetic precision around piping and along my stoned path. (2 pictures posted) I now have at least one neighbor everyday complementing my driveway and curious about how they might get the same beautiful driveway. I would stay as far away from this company as you can. We were told that they would put extra sealant in the cracks to fill them. We were on vacation when they did the driveway. When we got back we tried multiple times to call them, we spoke to 3 different people that said we would get a call back from Mickey we never received that call. We then were told it was his sons that do the work and when we finally got a hold of them they said the cracks don't get filled that is a different process. Mickey's did my driveway several years ago. They were supposed to dig out around the shed and garage and A/C. They did the shed, did not do the A/C, which I said I could live with, but then they didn't dig out at the entrance to the garage. The asphalt truck arrived when I guess they were supposed to be ready to pave, so I pointed out that the garage entrance was not ready. The guys said OOPS. They said they would have to delay the paving, and that the asphalt was hot, and would cool off if not used right away. I asked if they would smooth it to the edge so it would still be flat but they said they would need 3 inches of asphalt. I said I wanted to wait, but of course my driveway was now a complete mess. They just looked at me, and finally said that if the extra height caused a problem, they would come back and fix it. It looked terrible and when I tried to close the garage door, some of the product was in the way, so when I pointed that out, one of the men actually yelled at me and said I should have told them sooner that I wanted my garage door to be able to close!! I am a single woman and they were very intimidating. The gap between the driveway and the garage door was (and still is) about an inch and the asphalt was 3 inches higher than the garage floor. A month later, after it had rained a few times and my garage took in a lot of water, I called to have them come out and fix it. Left a message with receptionist, no call back, called again, same, called again and she said it would have to wait until fall because they were very busy. I called in the fall and they said it was too cold and I needed to call in the spring. This went on for a few years - during this time I used a shop vac and bought a dehumidifier. Finally Mickey himself came out and looked and said he didn't remember "doing this driveway" so I handed him his sign that was still in my garage. Then he asked me to describe the workers, and I did and he knew who they were, but then said that his guys probably had a good reason to not dig it out. I told him again the details of our conversation about the hot asphalt, the OOPS and the promise to fix it later. He said that the rain could not come in because of a small overhang, but rain blows against the door when we have storms from the west, but he said that all rain comes straight down. He didn't want to do anything so I suggested he pay for the garage door to be fitted with a piece of plastic that would hang over the edge of the asphalt and stop the water from coming in - he said get an estimate and text it to him - which I did and also emailed it. It cost around $260 attached by my garage installers. No response, and I've called numerous times. Still no response so I am writing this to warn others. read more

Mikey & Lindsey came to the property site to give a free estimate on installing a driveway, price was reasonable, estimate stated he would accept cash, check, credit cards. Tried to make an appointment to have installed but would never call back to set up appointment. One day his workers showed up to start work and of course I could not be on site I was on my way to work, they took two days to install. After installation they did not clean up or remove debris that was left behind. All the dirt that was removed to install the driveway was hauled away, no dirt was used to fill holes that they left, they did not back fill any holes and areas that needed to be back filled. They also were suppose to lay stone between my driveway and my neighbors and they did not do that and they were reminded 3 times--twice to Lindsey and once to Mark and a co-worker. After the Job was completed Lindsey called wanting cash only, I felt that was a little odd and then Mickey himself called and wanted cash only. I refused--due to a large sum of money I gave a check and they did not like that. They never did come back to back fill-they more than likely sold my dirt to make money and they never lay stone down between my driveway and my neighbors. The attitude completely changed towards use once the job was completed they were not friendly like they were when they were trying to get our business. I had to go out and get 2 tons of dirt to complete the job, which of course was not fair to me since I had all that dirt from the driveway, I also had to haul the debris away that they left behind, which again was not right either. read more
