Let me start by saying, I feel the people who leave a bad review for this place, don't understand it is historic and still pumping out classics. Are they reinventing the wheel here? No. Are you going to get a classic meal that is done well? Yes! There is free parking right next to the diner car! We were greeted right away and both the cook and server were lovely! They were friendly and fast! The ambiance is just so cool here! This car diner has been here for SO long and it's crazy to think about all of the people and celebrities that have had the pleasure of eating here! It has also been in movies and tv shows! Very cool! The food was delicious! The fries were so crispy and golden! The burger was done well and we just had to try a famous pancake and French toast slice! They were both great but the blueberry pancake stood out to me! Definitely worth grabbing! Let the haters say what they want! This place is a Minnesota gem!

Truly felt like a religious experience finally making it into Mickey's Dining Car. I started at the top of the menu with America's Favorite All Day Meal because I know I'll be returning. In the food photograph I wish I had moved the turkey ham so you could see the incredible hash browns. I ordered the eggs basted and they were done to perfection. The homemade hashbrowns were done to perfection in butter and quite crisp. All of the non-beef meat items were turkey based. This does not surprise me as it offers them a greater audience of diners. One waitress on staff along with the cook and a dishwasher. She was attentive and help when I had a couple of questions. This is a historic, smaller restaurant. Total seating capacity is 36 persons with half of that being swivel stools. I was there on a late-Sunday afternoon. The longer I was there the more diners who walked in. I had a corner booth in the back and had a view of the entire restaurant. It's a classic diner with classic diner food. I'll definitely be back!

Had never been here but always heard it was great. Finally got the opportunity to go with some friends for a birthday. We all walked in and sat down. Got our orders in quickly and they cooked it up. I got a omelet and a pancake. Omelet was OK, they burned my bacon, but the pancake was perfection. Love the look from the outside and the feel of a old school diner on the inside. Staff was friendly and took care of our big group easily. Will definitely go back to try other items on the menu.

Was slow, not much patrons. Food came out fast. Nothing to complain about and I'm a super picky eater. If you're looking to have pro bacon, they do not have pork bacon but have turkey or beef bacon or turkey sausage.

How could you not. This place is the original classic. Breakfast is the specialty, the americas favorite has it all with eggs any meat, hash browns and of course toast. The bread is very fresh. Expect to wait in line during normal times like 10am for breakfast, space is limited. Also the movie jingle all the way with Arnold was filmed here. The best!

Classic train car bar experience, nothing else like it!

I love breakfast food and the fact that I can get it here any time of day, and it's fresh huge helpings for a great price, amazing! Plus it's fun to watch the magic happen right in front of your eyes if you sit at the bar, simply great service. The story of where the car came from is icing on the cake! Can't wait to go back. Enjoy!

Mickey's Diner is a classic! It's been located in this spot since 1960. Mickey's is an original retro diner beloved by everyone in the Twin Cities area. It's open 24/7 with ample parking. There are booths and tables to sit at. On weekends it can get very busy. The staff is amazing and friendly. The moment we entered we were welcomed. Mickey's definitely has a family vibe for everyone to enjoy. We ordered a Veggie Omelette and the Earth's Special (hashbrowns, cheese, onions, tomatoes). The portions are huge and price point is very good considering price inflation everywhere in dining. We recommend everyone to try Mickey' Diner. There is a huge menu for everyone to find something that makes them happy. Enjoy!

The food is just mediocre, the service slow, and the building dirty, leaning towards gross. I would not recommend. We arrived at 11:15 on a Friday morning, we were seated at 11:25, and had our order taken by 11:30. Our food came at 12:05. The waitress and bus boy work together well. I did get my coffee cup refilled, once, in the hour we were there. We saw at least 4 parties give up and leave because of the wait time. The single bathroom has no lock on the entry door, and no functioning lock on the stall, so no ensured privacy. The sink only has cold water. The walls, fan grilles, and accessories have not been cleaned in recent history. It's a nostalgic structure that is falling apart. There are booth jute boxes, but I am unsure if they work. The music was from the radio.

I'm so happy the iconic Mickey's dinner in downtown St Paul was able to open back up. This place is a part of history. I love the old converted train car! Breakfast is served all day and is really great portion sized for the price! I was made a specialty coffee drink at our visit and it was coffee shop quality. The staff is very friendly even when they are really busy! The seating is minimal and my favorite place to sit is right at the counter! They do not take reservations and the parking is only able to hold a handful of patrons.

Slightly claustrophobic vibes, but very 1950's cool.

Went here for a breakfast on our way home. Ambiance gets 5*, you are truly stepping back into time. After that, it is just Ok. I will say that this place makes Waffle House look like a hospital as far as cleanliness. This place needs a serious deep cleaning. As for the food, the beef bacon was very good. No pork in this establishment. Everything else was just solidly executed breakfast food.

Seems like an institution that's been. Inform history. Quaint little diner, with a diner type breakfast menu. Out of a few items but still overall a worthwhile visit for a couple of out of towners.

Food was great--classic American fare, and the server Tristan was delightful. I was also impressed by how good the coffee is. The atmosphere can't be beat--it is a blast from the past in a cute little train car.

Went here today (7/30/25) Love Mickey's Diner in St Paul! I had Mickey's Sputnik burger! My friend had blueberry pancakes! Great service! Love the ambiance of the diner!

Steak sucked which was a bummer because it was expensive. Ordered French toast but got pancakes instead. The river location is much better

Good food and great stop and they don't close! That's a perk for the cities where most places close by 8 or 9pm.

We went there before they closed down for renovation…read more Stuffed tofu is definitely my favorite item out of everything on their menu. It was crisp and vegetables inside felt fresh. The sauce that came with it is also a perfect pairing to the dish. The 4 pieces really fill you up so definitely good for its price. Portions are definitely good at this restaurant and you can easily find street parking in the neighborhood behind. Mohinga was okay. It was behind the first two times I came here. The fish cake in Mohinga was tasty as well as the fried peas. The boat noodle has very rich flavor. Broth was good and they gave generous amount of bean sprouts. La Phat Ye was good. They normally don't offer iced but we asked them to change. Overall, it's a great restaurant with decent prices and we hope that we can get back into business ASAP.

I feel blessed to say that one of the best restaurants I have ever been to in the United States is…read moreliterally right here in the Twin Cities, because the food here is heavenly to the point of me consistently returning despite living far from the establishment. In terms of food, there is a mixture of Burmese, Thai, and Karen dishes, and each one that my friends and I have ordered has been a hit. The tea leaf salad has amazing texture because of peanuts and fried garlic, which provide crunchiness, and has amazing flavor because of lemon juice, fish sauce, and tomatoes. The noodle salad has a light taste without adding the given lime piece, and then the rich nutty taste gets evoked and elevated upon adding lime juice. The zaap crispy has very well-seasoned fried chicken pieces, and medium spice level gives it a good amount of flavor. The shan khao soi is so creamy and tasty that even tasting the curry broth itself is a sensational experience, and the chicken leg included literally has "fall off the bone" meat. The boat noodle has a mixture of sweetness and savor, while the sweet flavor does not overpower anything at all. Finally, the mohinga clearly has fish cake flavor and texture fully infused, making it authentically delicious. We also ordered the knyaw iced salad, which was a mixture of ice along with crackers and other types of sweet ingredients. I thought it was very similar to a type of Vietnamese dessert called chè ba màu (three color pudding), and fully enjoyed it. The establishment only had one dessert, and I thought that was sufficient. While the street contains many excellent restaurants, I personally believe that this establishment stands out in terms of taste. I must also mention that since my friends and I arrived when barely anyone else was there each time we had gone there, we never experienced any service delays that some have mentioned in their reviews. I probably will give this place a 5 rating anyway even if I experience slowness, although I hope I don't.
