I am really picky about my nails and even pickier when it comes to customer service. I am new to the area and after trying a few nail salons, I landed at Mickey's. The location is a bit hidden so I'm not surprised many don't know about it. Each time I was there, the customers that came in were new and seemed to be referred by the hair salon next door. I've been there 3 times now and all were overall good experiences. Plus, they've had an ongoing 20% off special! The actual salon is new and clean. It includes beautiful chandeliers and quality, clean furniture. They have several mini refrigerators stocked with goodies - soda, water and juice! I can't recall if there is alcohol but I'm always good with a soda or water! The staff is welcoming and friendly. 2 out of 3 times I've been there, while my toes were being done my nails were being worked on. I really like this because my favorite part is the pedicure and about half way through my gel manicure, I'm ready to go. It's nice to be able to sit down for my nails and get to work! Their quality of work is really good. They listen to what I ask for and my nails and toes have always looked great and last 2 plus weeks. Like many nail businesses, weekends can be busy. I just moved from SouthEnd and hated so much to switch nail salons but the drive way just too far for work. After doing some yelping I came across Mickey's. I am SUPER picky as I have been getting my nails done since I was 16 and I know what I like but I read the reviews and decided to trust. The salon is brand new and very clean. It's beautifully decorated and they even offer you a drink menu when you arrive. These are all added bonuses but when you get your nails done regularly we all know that it's the quality and the longevity of the service that what will keep you coming back. I read that Mickey (the owner) is who to ask for when getting SNS so I made an appointment with her. She was amazing! Make sure you call and see if she's there to avoid having inconsistent nail thickness/lengths/shape by other nail techs. This salon is beautiful and the service is wonderful. I've been to other nail salons where I was rudely greeted and asked to pay before my nails were even finished. PERFECT LOOK, PLUS SUPER FAST!!! I never write reviews, but I have been on a quest to achieve this exact look on my nails...Mickey at Mickey's Nails gave me the perfect American manicure! She used the SNS dark pink base , one layer French white tip, and top layer of American tip to achieve the most natural-looking, clean look, exactly what I was going for. The pink is really pink, which I like, and the white is not TOO white... And the shape is the perfect oval for me... As with all SNS, the cost can be a little pricey, but if you pay in cash, it's 10% off, so that is good for my budget. Plus, an SNS manicure can last me over three weeks, so I can amortize the cost! It's really hard to find that perfect pink base layer, and Mickey's is the only one I have found so far in Charlotte that carries it... I'm so glad! Planned a pampering mid day with my mom and she let me choose where we would go. Wanting to stay closer yo her home in Weddington, I went through Yelp for local recommendations and found this salon. My mom had mentioned she knew of it because of a sign with 20% off so I thought to call and verify. I spoke with a guy who assured me "weekdays only" and that making an appointment at the salon on Friday would be just fine. (Will come back to that point) So we show up for our appointment excited to start our day with a gel manicure and pedi. The salon may have had two other patrons finishing up their nails at the nail bar while we got set up in pedi chairs to start. Our pedicures lasted all of 15, ok... maybe 18 minutes. Not only that, our gel manicures began and were completed by additional nail techs while we sat in the pedi chairs. Having our arms pulled every which way was not my idea of having my nails done. Here it is 4 days later and as I thought would be the result, my rigid and super thick gel manicure has gone to the birds. Basically already need another manicure and my work is based around a laptop. My moms is the same and we are both upset for choosing this place. Now back to the discount... we go to pay and mention that discount and are told it's only on weekdays. We reply that it is a weekday and the lady replies it is not because it's Friday. What?? I then tell her I called to ask before making the appointment and she ended up honoring it after reminding us that weekdays are Monday through Thursday. Look people, I'm a forty something year old man.....but basically I'm a huge sucker. When my daughters give me the puppy dog eyes and ask for Mani / Pedis I jump into action. We were near Blakeney and Mickey's had the best reviews because you know these nail places are on every corner in the QC, so you want the best. Walked into Mickey's and it was bright and looked brand new. They greeted us and had 2 amazing princess type chairs, pink with butterfly wings and sparkle pillows for the girls. WOW!!! They treated my girls like royalty and made them feel special. They even offered them drinks during the process. Most of all, one of my kids nail polish wore off in like a day. I called Mickey and she remembered us. Told me to come right in and she'd have it fixed. She did, no questions ask. In my experience it's not that you have problems, it's how you respond. I made an appointment for a pedicure on a week night and wasn't offered any beverage like others mentioned on arrival. The guy who was going to do my pedicure handed me a card that had various fruit options to choose from. He didn't tell me if it is going to be an extra charge to choose a fruit flavored pedi, I just happened to ask and he mentioned 45 dollars. I don't like places who trick you into exotic/expensive options without notifying the extra charge associated. Also, before I went for my appointment I saw on yelp that they were offering 20% off for first time service. Upon asking to give the discount on checkout, I was told the discount isn't offered anymore. I personally think that they could have offered the discount still to build clientele. I'm visiting from Raleigh so my cousin, my sister, and I decided to pamper ourselves and get a manicure. Very clean place and all the ladies were nice. My sister and I had to wait an hour while my 2 cousins got their nails done which was not the best but it's alright. My nail tech was great! But my sister and my cousins had to deal with the younger guy that was there and he was very unpleasant. He left my sister for about 20-30 minutes to go eat in the back and he was rude to my cousins and my sister. To make a long story short he wasn't professional. My manicure was an SNS with tips. It came out to $48 even though they told me it was going to be $45 at first and then they had a 20% discount which would've made it $36. I came in this week for a Dip Manicure, and was extremely disappointed. The color was lovely, but the technician did nothing more than the nail color - she used a nail file to push my cuticles down, did not trim them at all, so I have a great nail color with still dry cuticles, which is not a good look. The owner pushed me to get pedicure and then proceeded to get my entire biodata where I lived and what i did for a living etc. What my husband did and how many kids where did my family lived now etc ..NOT ONE OF THE OTHER CUSTOMERS HAD TO ENDURE THIS TYPE OF QUESTIONING. Was very excited to come to this nail bar--so many great colors to choose from between SNS colors and gel samples to look through...but the lady who originally had me, seemed to be annoyed with me taking too long to decide on a color...so she immediately told me to move down a chair and grabbed the next woman that came in the door way after me. More training is needed. Been here several times and they normally do good work. Went in recently and got my nails done by someone that has never done them before. I got SNS which is costly so I expect it to last. The person moved very quickly with doing my nails which I thought was a little strange but...okay. In less than a week I had some nails to chip. Went back to get them fixed and it was if I was a bother. Unfortunately, I had to return one more time. After I was serviced, the technician turned on the fan and told me to let It dry for a little while. She then went to the back to chat with her friends. Which was cool. I was the only customer. This nail bar is the best one I've been to so far. It is clean and the decor is nice. They have regular chairs and stools, and the stools have backs so you won't leave in pain like you do at Polished. The technician took her time and gave me a thorough pedicure and fill-in.
