Service: line went pretty fast. you ordered at the front and can choose seating Items ordered: - 3 meat 2 sides plate, $30 Brisket 8.8/10, the cut we got was slightly dry today, but depending on the day, the brisket can be a 9.5/10 Pork ribs 8/10, a good, standard tender pork rib Mac and cheese 9.5/10, SO GOOD! flavorful Lemon poppy slaw 8/10, refreshing flavor Banana pudding 6/10, the banana is blended within the pudding and nilla wafers aren't soaked in the pudding (my preference!)

Wow. Brisket melted, just melted in your mouth. I don't think I needed to chew. Very moist and tasty. Ribs were good as were the sides and sausage. They designed an old church with mostly outdoor seating but decent amount of indoor seating. The place isn't large by Texas standards. We went off peak around 2pm ish and didn't wait long to order. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Perhaps the most gentile installment in the Austin BBQ milieu - it is, after all, housed in a converted church. Way out on the edges of deep east Austin, sort of where civilization gives way to wilderness (in fact, I espied a group of guys in a nearby wooded thicket - not homeless, but certainly poor - hanging out around a campfire as though the 19th century never ended). In this Tom Sawyer Island universe there is a white clapboard chapel, rows of smokers, and piles of oak. At Micklethwait, the bill o' fare matches the scenery. Food tastes wholesome. Contrast a place like la BBQ, which has an edge of provocation, the food their containing perhaps more spices than you would like. Micklethwait tastes like what you'd imagine the early German and Czech practitioners were after. You taste smoke and beef and everything else is superfluous. The brisket strikes a balance between toothsomeness and suavity. They have other meats beyond the Central Texas canon of brisket, ribs and sausage. Unfortunately, I couldn't manage to eat any more than the staples. A very pleasant side dish is the green bean salad. Charred green beans are then chilled and ultimately tossed in what seemed was crispy quinoa and a lemon vinaigrette. With all the smoke, beef, booze and cheese laden Tex-Mex in Austin, these green beans stuck out like legumes from some celestial patch.

For my first bbq place to go in Texas, I chose it to be Micklethwait so I had high expectations! I came about a hour before closing so a few items including some of the sides ran out. I got the 3 meats and 2 sides platter. I had their brisket, pulled pork, and cheesy link sausage. For the sides I had Cole slaw and potato salad. I definitely enjoyed everything I had, my favorite was the sausage!

I have had Micklethwait bookmarked since it was a food truck so it has to be a couple of years. Well, today was the day that I could unbook mark Micklethwait and a gorgeous day to take advantage of their plentiful outside seating/dining area. I arrived at approximately 1300 and there was not a line hopefully meaning that the meat was still on the menu and not sold out. I ordered the Tex-Czech sausage, Pork Spareribs, and Moist Beef Brisket with Mac and Cheese and Braised Greens with Bacon for my sides. Tex-Czech sausage is house-made and is quite flavorful with a snap that I love. The Pork Sparerib was perfectly smoked with a nice rub and I love it when I can chew the grisle without loosening teeth. The Moist Beef Brisket was perfect with a nice smoke ring and the bark was perfect and flavorful. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my lite afternoon snack and I will definitely be back to check out the lamb and some of their other house-made sides like the Lemon-Poppy Slaw and Citrus Beet Salad.

I enjoyed my time at Micklethwait Barbecue. The place wasn't that busy when I went which is definitely nice. Most barbecue spots in Austin have crazy long lines and run out of food when you arrive. So I enjoyed going to a spot that was more laid back. The service was fantastic. They have nice seating options both indoors and outdoors. The outdoor seating gives you that authentic Austin feel as if you are sitting in a coffee shop. The food was solid. I tried the 3 meat and 2 sides plate with brisket, pulled lamb, sausage, beans and Mac & cheese. The sausage by far was my favorite. The pulled lamb was different, which I enjoyed. You just don't see this as an option offered on most menus. Overall, it was a great experience!

This place is underrated in a city with many barbeque options. The prices were of great value and didn't disappoint. The brisket was moist, Smokey, well seasoned and traditional to most briskets in the area. The sausage had a good snap to it, peppery and Smokey. The ribs had a good bite to it, and wasn't fall off the bone but the bone came out clean. I must say though, the jalapeño cheese grits was a nice change up for sided offerings. The smoked duck and sausage gumbo was also delicious and still tasted great when I took it home to reheat as I had ordered too much food. Their smoked lamb shoulder was moist and was absolutely a must have if available as it was the special that day. The location is nice, parking is a little limited but they had great indoor and outdoor seating options. The service was excellent and they operated quickly for taking and delivering orders.

We came to Micklethwait from multiple friends' recommendations during our week-long trip San Antonio to Austin. It was fantastic! For 2 people, we ordered the brisket, pork ribs, cheesy hot link, with mac n cheese and green beans sides. I normally don't prefer dry rub ribs, but they were amazing, so flavorful. The green beans were also perfect and a great tangy compliment to the meats. We were really impressed by the cheesy hot link - it was staff-recommended since they're known for their sausages. We came in around noon on a Friday, and we waited a bit to order but not long - and the food is prepared immediately. Staff were so friendly, helpful and welcoming - we would definitely return for the service (and the food). The indoor and outdoor seating areas are both really nice - great space for groups. Parking was also not hard to find on their street. The flavors of Micklethwait were really unforgettable, and we hope to return soon!

As always, Micklethwait continues to be a solid choice for bbq in Austin, especially if you want indoor seating and a quickly moving line. Plenty of parking in the lot and nearby neighborhood roads. You get in, wait in line if needed, order at the counter, and then wait for your food. My fiancé and I live close by and have gone over a few times to grab a lunch special on Thursdays or Fridays ($15 for a bbq meat sandwich, a side, and a sweet tea). The food is so tasty and fresh, and always consistently good! The only confusing part is sometimes they've given the side in essentially a Dixie cup (super super small) and other times in a plastic container (still small, but enough for one person). Either way, this place is solid and dependable and I will definitely be back!

We showed up at 11am on a Friday, fully expecting to have to struggle to find parking and to have to wait in a line for who knows how long. But that wasn't the case at all! We just parked in the front and were able to immediately make our way to the front counter. In fact, the workers there had to wait on us while we chose which menu items we wanted. For those reasons above, Micklethwait is already worth the visit because you save so much time. But the food is really good too! I will say, it's not the best bbq I've ever had in my life with items that make your jaw drop. But it's a really solid place to go when you're craving some reliable bbq! And I really love the plate options. I came with one friend, and although there weren't many of us, we wanted to try a bunch of different meats and sides without going overboard. So we were able to get two 2 meat plates, meaning we were able to try 4 meats and 4 sides without breaking the bank. And we still had lots to take home with us too. The jalapeño cheddar sausage actually might be my favorite meat that we tried! Followed by the ribs, and then the brisket and pulled lamb. I do wish the brisket and pulled lamb were a little juicier, but both were still really good. And the mac n cheese, beet salad, and cheesy grits are all sides I would get again. The bread it comes with is also homemade and is so so yummy. Plus the workers were so friendly. Even when we were leaving, they remembered us by name when they said goodbye.

I've been enjoying Micklethwait Craft Meats for years, and this past fall when my wife and I were planning our wedding reception, we contacted Micklethwait about catering. The whole process was so easy and they did an amazing job bringing in all of the food for our guests. It was great to have a selection of brisket, sausage, and turkey, as well as delicious sides: Campfire Chili Beans, Herbed Potato Salad, Mac and Cheese, and Farmers Market Green Salad. Plus, they brought in fantastic banana pudding for dessert. I would 100% book them for an event, again, and I look forward to my next lunch at Micklethwait!

This is one of my favorite bbq spots in Austin and I've tried almost all of them the line wasn't too long and went really quick! They have such a large selection of items and everything we ordered was delicious! The atmosphere is also very nice with a nice outdoor dining area. So glad this place got an official home in Austin!

Finally got around to checking Micklethwait out. It's a little off the beaten path, which meant there were only 4-5 people ahead of me in line when I pulled up on Sunday morning, when they opened at 11 am. Was a little disappointed to learn that they no longer sell tacos but the Frito Pie made up for it.

We experienced them when they were at The Yard after hearing and seeing some of their incredible photos on IG and boy oh boy these boys didn't disappoint! From their super friendly service to the freshness of their food, get ready to take your taste buds on a journey! We tried a mix of their staples and specials -- from the crispy, charred Brussels sprouts to their fresh, flavor-packed salad, the crispy juicy chicken cutlet sandwich and the star of the show, the Woodneck falafel sandwich that completely won us over (and that's saying something coming from two meat lovers). Everything tastes as good as it looks. You can tell they're passionate about what they do -- everything feels intentional, from the seasoning to the sourcing. They even use freshly harvested veggies from their own garden when in season, which makes the food taste that much better. We haven't been to their new location at The Dainty Armadillo YET, but we already know it's going to be just as epic. Woodneck is one of those rare spots that truly cares about quality, freshness, and creativity which you can taste in every bite! If you haven't checked them out yet, do yourself a favor -- go hungry and prepare to be impressed!

When they tell you the $5 basket of well-seasoned fries is enough for two people, listen to them. This was definitely a case of "eyes bigger than stomach". I ate maybe six fries from my basket while my boyfriend put a substantial dent in his. I had the cheeseburger on a sub roll and ate the whole darn thing! In all honesty, we should have shared a basket of fries and the burger. The beef was seasoned and cooked to perfection allowing all of the burger toppings to converge together in my mouth for a flavor explosion. Boyfriend had the falafel sandwich; double patty. Took a bite (of course) and boom...goodness! I'm still so full, now that I'm home I can't move. I'm done.

Like your girl can eat tacos but I had never been one to be like let's go get some cause I am craving them. But man cuantos tacos can definitely get me saying I want and crave them! I thought prices were pretty fair at 2.75 a piece. After much researchon what to eat in Austin this is one of the spots that I saved as a bookmark. While I was in Austin, a foodie friend on Instagram shared with me her list of recommendations since she just moved to Austin not too long ago. I knew that Ihad to stop by Cuantos Tacos, I mean how often do you see a Michelin BibGourmand taco truck. We came here for dinner but it was cold, sprinkling, anddark out. Tables they had were wet from the sprinkle.  My family only triedthe suadero taco ($2.75 per taco) but OMG it was the best thing we ate duringour trip in Austin. It was super memorable, the meat was soft and the salsaadded the perfect kick to it. It's been a month, my husband and I are still daydreamingabout these tacos.  Tacos are madepretty fast, we had to order tacos 3x since they were so good, we kept wantingmore.
