I spotted Mick's BBQ on my commute this morning, an unassuming little building with a bold "BBQ" sign that practically dares you to stop. As someone who can't resist smoked meat, I took the bait. Service was quick right out of the gate. I was greeted immediately upon driving up, which I appreciated. That said, the cashier came off a bit impatient, especially when I asked to take a look at the menu as a first-timer. Not rude enough to make a scene, but definitely not welcoming either. I started with the fries: they came out hot and fresh, which is always a win. Unfortunately, that's about where the praise ends. They were completely underseasoned? no salt, no character, just... potatoes. Edible, but forgettable. I'd skip them next time and go for chips instead. Hoping the main event would redeem things, I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. This is where things really fell apart. The pork lacked any flavor and, more concerning, was served cold. Not "cooled off" actually cold. Oddly enough, the coleslaw seemed warmer than the meat. For a BBQ spot, that's a tough miss. Overall, I'd place Mick's BBQ in the bottom tier of barbecue I've had. It's a place with potential fast service and a decent first impression, but the food just didn't deliver where it matters most. read more

Visiting from out of town and seen this cute little BBQ shack, I had to stop by. The sweetest lady with a lovely Southern accent, took my order. I ordered the brisket plate with fried okra and baked beans. I appreciate the barbecue sauce served on the side, it was just the right amount of food. I'm not a fan of baked beans, but I finish these quickly. so delicious- not too sweet, and not watery. The fried okra came out just right nice crunchy on the outside and soft okra on the inside. There was plenty of brisket, although it was a little on the dry side, but with some bbq on it, it was fine. read more

We stopped at Mick's because we were in the mood for bbq, and it was convenient to the rv park we were staying at. My husband wanted the bbq, and I wanted the fried catfish. Well, they were out of catfish when we got there at 5:30 pm. They were also out of Mac and cheese. My husband wanted ribs, and I got the pulled pork sandwich because that's what the woman working there recommended. The pulled pork sandwich I'd rate 1 star. Super bland meat, and a strange flavor that reminded me of mineral-y well water. The meat didn't taste like it was seasoned at all. I took two bites and threw the rest away. The ribs we'd rate 2 stars. They were slightly better than the pulled pork. They smelled nice and smoky, but again, seemed like they had zero seasoning on them. You absolutely have to have the bbq sauce with them if you want flavor. They were also very overcooked. Ribs really shouldn't fall off the bone as easily as these did. They should be tender but the meat should be attached to the bone. The bones easily slid right out of these ribs. The coleslaw was just ok. It way too finely chopped. It felt mealy. The thing I liked most about the slaw is that it had a LOT of black pepper in it. The fried okra was pretty good, and the apple caramel fried pie was REALLY good. It's worth going to Mick's for the fried pie alone. Skip the bbq. I wish I could have tried the fried catfish because the fried items of our meal were the best part. This is the first time I've had Arkansas bbq, and if it's all like this, the I'll avoid it from now on. It can't hold a candle to Texas bbq. read more

Flew into North Little Rock, was hungry for local food when we drove past this little place. Pulled pork with slaw was really good, deserves 5 stars! So does the service and the hush puppies. My plate only had 2 hush puppies and he made me extras for free when I asked for more. They were really good. Catfish, fried okra and fries, were good but not what I was hoping for. Guess I was thinking it'd be like the fish fry we had with our family last time we were here. But think it was just pulled out of the freezer. It was fast, hot and perfectly fried! The food is Good although the service can be sketchy at times. The Manager or owner is very courteous. The Older lady that works there is nice also. The lady that wears the cat eye glasses ,not so much. Haven't had the Catfish yet, only the family pack BBQ. Now, usually military vets and active serving get a 10% discount but this time the cat eyed lady exclaimed fairly loudly that she didn't have a button for that whilst holding my Military ID. I've been coming here since the last century (sounds better this way I think). I am not from Little Rock but found this place on one trip to PEC (self explanatory to those who know, and everyone else; don't worry, just a National Guard thing). Mick's is a solid BBQ joint; no inside sitting, pretty simple menu, but everything tastes good. They make a particularly good catfish, which is a nice offset to a pulled pork sandwich. Since I only get here once a year or so, some things change in my absence, often to my disappointment. This time there was bad news/good news. The bad news was they took the smoked turkey leg off the menu. Honestly, I was so looking forward to that, and was very disappointed. The good news was their new peach BBQ sauce. It is a mustard base and is wonderful. As usual, their crinkle cut fries were perfect. Deep fried in team animal fat (I believe, tastes like it anyway), and I always seem to get about a pound of deep fried okra in my orders. Given my horrible culinary experience at Whole Hog, I will hit up Mick's more often when I am next in town. read more

Ok not sure I f the disconnect. After reading some reviews I had a taste for som BBQ. someone referred me to Me cos BBQ. I ordered the smoke chicken and rib combo. The ribs were cooked to fall off the bone which was good. The flavor was just ok and nothing to brag about. The smoke chicken was dry and no flavor. The bbq side sauce was ok. The cold slaw was decent and the potatoes salad was borderline salty. I donated the majority of the food to the garbage can. maybe they have other food that taste good but what I ordered was not worth the trip. read more

I was not a fan of the mayonnaise coleslaw secretly added inside my sandwich. I hate mayonnaise (excuse me hate is a word I like to steer away from) I dislike with a passion and wish it would stay away from me at all cost. BBQ sauce to me tasted like fancy ketchup. I love Mick's! This was my second lunch here. It's basically a roadside shack with a few picnic tables in front. The food was phenomenal. The beef sandwich I ordered was shredded and tasted great. I have a hard time giving good reviews to a BBQ place that serves roast instead of brisket as their beef. Had I known this I wouldn't have gone in the first place. That being said, it was the only disappointment besides the sauce being a bit too ketchupy. According to other reviews I must be the first to ever eat the beef anyway, so they must have a lot better things on the menu. Service was good and friendly. Six year old said it was the best corn dog he ever ate (and he is a corn dog connoisseur). Three year old tore up the chicken strips. Slaw had good flavor, beans were good, and onion rings were good as well. They seriously lost two stars over the beef, and it was almost a three star loss. Brisket as the beef BBQ staple is that important to me. If you can't smoke a brisket then don't offer beef BBQ. read more
