I have eaten here in the past like in 2018 I left to live in California I returned in 2020 this place was sold and now I must say it has changed. We ordered the ribs they were done by a rookie no smoke on the meat at all in fact they were very undercooked still looking like almost raw meat still sticking to the bone and looking like corn on the cob I ate one. Even the beans were different sorry I will never eat here again. The servers are the ones who will suffer but they need some help from the original owner Cory to pull this place back to where it was in 2018 . Just my opinion. read more

My parents and I stopped here for an early dinner. We were seated and placed our order immediately. Our server was very friendly and gave suggestions for what she preferred. THIS is what I've been looking for when it comes to bbq! Immediately upon waking inside I was hit with the aroma of smoked meat. I was shown to a booth and a server came to give me a menu and get my drink order and then my food order. This was very refreshing as most other places are stand in line and order your food and then go find a seat. They offered the basic options that you would expect and even a few more. I went with one of my personal favorites, the burnt ends. They were very good. The green beans were amazing and came out hot, which is not always a given. The ambiance of the place is very warm and inviting. This will be a regular stop for me. I'm looking forward to bringing my wife here and ordered her favorite appetizer - fried mushrooms! Stopped by for a quick lunch after hearing great things about this place from friends. The lighting inside was on the darker side, and the smell of barbecue hit us as soon as we walked in. Plenty of fun decor covers the walls and is hung from the ceiling. Our server, Tara, was friendly and attentive. The food came out pretty quickly, which was a nice bonus. The menu has a great variety of options, and the prices were definitely reasonable. I got the sliced brisket plate for $16.99, which came with two sides of your choice and a slice of Texas toast. They also offer "premium sides" for an extra $1. The portions aren't even larger than the regular sides. The half-pound of brisket was solid and tender, nothing particularly extraordinary. The fries were delightfully crispy and the mac and cheese was creamy and hot. I was happy with the Texas toast--not overly buttery or burnt. This is a tough review. This restaurant was highly recommended. I love BBQ all over the US so I wanted to give this place a shot. Additionally the average reviews of 4.5 had is about excited. Our server was Tara and she definitely delivered 4.5 service. The problem is that the food did not deliver on the 4.5. I went the ribs and sausage combo with fried okra and mixed veggies for the sides. The ribs did have about the right amount of smoke the problem was that they were overcooked and dry. The flavor was also lacking. If a rub was used on the ribs I could not tell. The sausage as lukewarm to cool and also bland in flavor. The BBQ sauce was pretty good. I went with the original and it was very good and had a consistency somewhere between Kansas City and Carolina. It had the right amount of sweetness and tang. The mixed veggies were a huge disappointment. They seemed to be the frozen vegetables that you find in the grocery store. The okra was ok. The other folks got a pulled pork sandwich, salmon and brisket/ribs combo. The feedback was pretty similar. Again service and the atmosphere was great and laid back. This may have been a 1 off looking at the other reviews but the food missed the mark today. read more

Jennifer is THE 'go to' server!! We were the first of 5 (at our table) to arrive and she was right there, ready to get us going! We started with the appetizer sampler - fried pickles were incredible, as were the onion rings. Hubby said the same about the mushrooms... We shared the sampler platter - ribs, brisket, smoked chicken, pulled pork and beef, catfish - best $40 we've spent at dinner in a long time! AND brought enough home for 3 more meals! So stopped by again takeout and got the same three choices ribs, catfish, pulled pork, green beans, Mac & cheese, Texas toast, and a side of okra, but they were so sweet and tossed in a pickled vegetables. Husband had raved about this place when he visited over a year ago. I have to agree - it is pretty stinkin' good! When we arrived on this Saturday nt, the place was packed. Yet in spite of being packed when we called in advance to ask questions, then called in our order, then called again to say construction had delayed our pick up, they were polite every time. He went with the pulled pork & I went overboard - couldn't make up my mind, so get it all! Fried okra - good, green beans - really good, hush puppies - good, potato salad - needed pepper & I'd probably pass next time, cole slaw - good & needed pepper, and the Piggie Pie. So about this pie...it was literally as big as the Styrofoam to go container! Fritos, baked beans, pulled pork & their BBQ sauce. (There was supposed to be cole slaw on top, but it was omitted, and I'm glad it was.) It was such an amazing flavor combo. The beans by themselves were boring but combined with everything else, it was amazing! And only $6.49. We also ordered a gallon of sweet tea, and it was delivered in a recycle glass pickle jar. We went here for a late lunch around 3 ish. I had no idea this place ever got slow, because it's only ever been really busy and packed whenever I used to come. There were like 3 other tables being waited on and 2 take out orders. Our waitress was just ok, she seemed like she was indifferent to us being there. My husband ordered the shrimp po boy and I ordered the double cheeseburger with grilled onions and jalapeños. The grilled onions were cut huge and not grilled much at all. Almost raw. It is a little hard to do because this place is off the beaten path. It's in the country off highway 107 in northern Pulaski county. Technically Jacksonville I believe. The menu has something for everyone. They have pulled pork plates, sandwiches, catfish, ribs, chicken and burgers. They even have salmon and shrimp on the menu but I'm not ordering that when I am here. It is the pulled pork for me. Ribs are really good. The pulled pork sandwiches are excellent. They have different BBQ sauces, including a hot version which I really like. The sides are also damn good. Highly recommend this place. They are always jammed every time I have been here. The waitress Tara was great. The food not so much, fried pickles were stuck together in a clump, fried green tomatoes were good. The chopped bbq beef sandwich looked and tasted like it had been around a while tough as was the onion rings. The fries were cold when delivered and hush puppies were not fully cooked. Fish filets ok. Definitely gone down hill since new owners took over. Their slogan if it isn't broke don't fix it, gives the previous owners a bad rap. Never Ever had bad food from the previous owners, won't be going back unless food quality changes for the better.
