3.5 out of 5 stars for Mico. I don't love it, but I do like it. I've been here on several occasions, for brunch, dinner, and with a large party for my birthday dinner in 2022. I love the ambience and the service is usually pretty good. I ordered the vegetable paella my last visit here and it's quite literally just rice and vegetables for $30. There's no substance to it, it was more like a side portion and I left the restaurant hungry. If you don't eat meat, there aren't many options for you unfortunately. They have valet parking at the Grand Bohemian and Mico will stamp your valet parking pass to get a discounted rate for parking- $12 instead of $25. However, the valet parking guys seem to be a little shady, as my card was charged $25 instead of $12 even though he said out loud "it'll be $12". I attempted to resolve this with the hotel but no one from the hotel nor valet has gotten back to me unfortunately. It's not so much the price as it is the deceit kind of. I think Mico is a little more expensive than what it's actually worth and I enjoyed eating upstairs at Buho Bar more. read more

Very luxe atmosphere set in a great location downtown. I sat at the bar due to being a walk in + a wedding party had rented out the restaurant for the evening. The bar only served drinks + small bites so that was a bit disappointing since I was STARVING! I ordered the gin & tonic, super potent! read more

I visited this restaurant on 1/23/21 to celebrate a birthday. We had a reservation for 6:30pm for 12. We had our own room, and it was nice. This restaurant is located inside of the Grand Bohemian Hotel. They do have free valet. You just have to get the ticket stamped. The ambiance and decor throughout was lovely and elegant. There is a QR code on the table for guest to pull up the menu. While waiting for everyone to arrive and looking through the menu, we were given a food sample. I cannot tell you what it was. I just know that it was fish. It was cold and somewhat tasteless. There was a small hint of spice, according to other people in the group. For beverages, 4 of us got the "TRADE STREET SANGRIA" (Smirnoff Vodka, White Muscadine, Mango, Pineapple Juice). It was served in a wine glass. I enjoyed it and so did everyone else who also ordered it. For food, I got the "Carolina White Shrimp" (House Milled Corn Polenta, Sunchokes, Young Greens, Spotted Trotter Nduja, Shellfish Brodo). It was essentially shrimp and grits. The sauce was spicy and I'm not a fan of spicy. It was good, however. The grits and shrimp was good. A couple other guest got potatoes with their food as a side and I had some. It helped to take away the spice from my mouth. One guest for the Lamb Special, which isn't on the menu. It was $32. They felt that you really didn't get any food for the price. They got a side of mushrooms, which they said was good. The birthday person got the Whole Fried Snapper, which was $32. Food portion and price aligned well. It was delicious! I tried it. Two other guest got the Merguez Spiced Lamb and the Sixty South Salmon. They both enjoyed their food with no complaints. Jasmine was our waitress. She was attentive. Due to party size (I assume), 18% gratuity was automatically added to everyone's bill. COVID: Masks are required and worn by employees. There were hand sanitizer dispensers available. Tables were socially distanced. Overall: The experience was good overall and we didn't encounter any problems. Service was well. COVID precautions were put into place. The drinks and food was good. Note: They do have a bar upstairs called Búho Bar. I had planned to go upstairs when I finished but it got late. Due to COVID, it's presently a 10pm curfew and cutoff for alcohol sales. Maybe next time I'll try it. read more

THE BEST brunch I have ever had in my life. The lobster and pork belly eggs Benedict is on another level of quality, texture, flavor, and even appearance. Beautifully done. And the Bloody Mary's are to die for. Perfection. The atmosphere is so peaceful and happy as a lone soloist sings softly and plays her mandolin. Had an excellent meal with my family. Maha, our service was great and our food was delicious. The menu tends to change but we enjoyed the brussel sprouts, fried oysters, whole branzino, parmesan fries, shrimp and polenta, roasted salmon, and paella with scallops. The chocolate mousse cake dessert was ok, however the tres leche bread pudding was outstanding. Sol de verana cocktails were also amazing. Yes the food was great, but so was the service. We had a party of 8 and the mgr who assisted Maha checked on us periodically to make sure we were enjoying our experience. My only request is that they bring back the shrimp and grits that was on brunch menu years ago :) read more

Fun ambience for a date night. Food is generally very fun and tasty -- some nice seafood-oriented options in particular. As is so often true these days service can be very spotty. In our favor, my wife ended up with a free drink. But her Brussels sprouts never arrived nor did our 2nd sparkling water. And we waited and waited for our server Juan to remember we wanted dessert while he was across the room doing his side work toward the end of his shift. So he got 15% rather than 20%. read more

I am a big fan of all Grand Bohemians. I try my best to visit in every city that may have one. They are one of my favorite hotels ever. I have never had anything but stellar experiences at all of the Bohemians. That's what I want to start by saying. Now...this restaurant is so beautiful. I mean gorgeous and I expected nothing less. But the food, not what I hoped at all. I got the skirt steak for my main course, cooked medium-med well and it was completely burnt. The taste was char all the way. Black, burnt pieces stuck in my teeth and all. I don't have a lot of experience with skirt steak, so if it needed to be cooked less, I would've appreciated a head's up. The mashed plantains were not good. There was an unpleasant after taste that was hard to pin point. The dip trio was ok, nothing extremely extravagant. And I wouldn't get it again. Also the heirloom tomato dish was very boring. It looked so beautiful with a great presentation, but the overall flavor was disappointing. Even the fingerling potatoes with blue cheese were dry, overdone, and basically flavorless. An extra star added because of the presentation and gorgeous atmosphere. The sangria looked stunning, but was watery. The server was friendly enough, just not very helpful or knowledgeable. I felt like she only suggested items that were the priciest. Had a light dinner here while staying in Charlotte. We sat outside on the patio- very nice setting and it was a beautiful evening! We ordered drinks- the Aperol Spritz was the best I've had in the states! The service and other staff were friendly, welcoming and very pleasant! Everyone was quite happy and fun to talk with. We had the squash soup and strawberry/ peach salad. The food was great! The portion size was nice and made a good, light dinner which was exactly what we wanted. The service was great and I loved the ambience of the restaurant. The decor was beautiful and it was a very boujie and upscale vibe. On the food side, the chicken salad was okay. Great place to swing by and grab some drinks. It's got a classy vibe and is a great place for a date. The Monkey Business cocktail was a bit bland and we strongly preferred our second drink, the Alfa Romero. We went to several other places and grabbed drinks and I think the Alfa Romero was the best drink of the night. We got the Impossible Meatballs as a snack. Don't waste your time coming here. They have a policy that is not posted anywhere. The Manager Cassandra was very nasty and said she was no longer engaging in conversation with us after we tried to pay our bill. She then threatened to call the police on us. She continued to be rude and insisted that she wasn't taking our payment. I'll never return even if they paid me. It certainly felt like racial profiling. I can spend my hard money and time elsewhere. read more

We dined here for our Saturday Mother's Day. So I will say, since it is connected to the hotel we were staying at the set up is nice. The ambience is there. They are super strict on pre-reserved seats. We tried to move our seat and we were told we could not, only for the seat to be taken by someone going to prom that didn't even order food but that's neither here nor there I guess. Anyway, the food was great. Lamb was TOP TIER and so much food. Scallops were seared to perfection. I've been dying to try this restaurant out since last summer when I came home to visit. I was in Charlotte this weekend and finally made it! My reservation was for 7:30pm. They offer complimentary valet which is a huge plus! We were seated in the dining area. The restaurant was actually pretty busy. Our server Juan was fantastic and full of knowledge. He gave us all of the specials which I always love to hear. He also bought us a complimentary item from the kitchen. I wasn't sure what to get but he gave us recommendations. The stuffed lobster tail and baked oysters were delicious!! I had the shrimp polenta which was very flavorful and had good taste. My drink was beer floral which I enjoyed. Overall I really liked this place and so did my guest (who are normally skeptical of hotel restaurants). I will definitely be back! read more

If you're looking for an upscale brunch experience then Mico is the place for you. It is located inside the Grand Bohemian Hotel in Downtown Charlotte. I would get reservations or at least get on the waitlist in advance. Their decor speaks to your inner vintage Hollywood looks and the ambiance is nothing but relaxing. They up the ante on Southern brunch favorites. The chicken and waffles were unique and had a non-traditional spicy syrup to top the plantain, Fried Chicken, and Belgian waffle. You must also try the steak and eggs. The Hollandaise sauce paired perfectly with the steak rub. I swapped out the fries for their home fries and they were superb! The home fries were crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside with a unique spiced topping. Keep in mind they do have a dress code! Mico was a real treat. Between the beautiful and luxurious decor, the friendly service and the delicious food we had a wonderful time. Our server Ashley was wonderful and was very knowledgeable about the food. We started out with cocktails, I ordered the bohemian sunset and my husband ordered the Alfa Romeo. Both were delicious and I would order again. It was lovely as before we got our appetizers, we got a small amuse bouche and a yummy bread service plate. To start we shared the blue crab stuffed lobster, which was a little small but delicious. For our mains, I got the scallops and my husband got the Crispy Fried Quail. Both were super delicious. The scallops were perfectly caramelized and came with delicious roasted carrots and sauce. The quail has a deep savory flavor, and the rice was so delicious I couldn't keep myself from stealing it off his plate. We also had the sides truffled mushroom and the polenta. The polenta was amazing, a must have and the mushrooms were decadent and delicious. For dessert we had the Iguazú falls. It was a really yummy cheesecake with a caramel sauce. After spending $500 for a room in the hotel, my wife and I walked into the restaurant with our suitcases where 4 or 5 tables were sat and the rest (roughly 40 tables) were empty. There was nobody waiting at the hostess stand, where we were told we couldn't eat because we didn't have a reservation. "Your restaurant is empty," I said. "It won't be In 30 minutes," we were told. How long do these people think it takes to eat breakfast? And I find it hard to believe a restaurant empty at 10am will be jammed at 1030. I wanted to enjoy this place completely that I came two separate times. I went to a brunch celebration and it wasn't too crowded and the waitress was attentive. We also loved the decor of the place so we were able to take photos. The morning cocktail and breakfast was far most tasteless I had compared to other restaurants. Later that week my friend wanted to celebrate her birthday by having a dinner reserved here. The menu selection was small and what I ordered along with small table food was very disappointing.
