The product offerings and selection? Top notch, love making this my first stop in nearly all situations. But that's where my affection for this place stops. Why is it that every single time I go in the line stretches from either the Apple section or all the way back to networking? EVERY. TIME. Either they have employees that aren't showing up for their shifts (doubtful given everything) or someone has no business scheduling shifts/planning the floor. Micro Center - when you have multiple employees standing around in computer sales or following me through the aisles but LESS THAN HALF the registers open and a line going to the back of the building someone is doing a seriously poor job managing. Tried to walk in for a return tonight and the line was all the way back to networking. I turned around and walked out. I'll come in the morning one day. That's my result but you should know it makes me and every single other person waiting in line for 20-30 minutes 100% less likely to ever come back. I'll order on Amazon and return this at a UPS store rather than deal with that absurdity in the future. read more

Been to this store multiple times very cool store, but recently was my first time actually talking and interacting with any of the people that work there. Since I was planning on building a PC, the guy who was helping me was very unenthusiastic and if I hadn't known a little about computers beforehand he probably would have made me felt like a complete idiot. Which is great when you're trying to sell someone something. I then had my custom PC built by them but little did I know there is absolutely no direct way to contact the store over the phone or talk to somebody even if you've spent a large amount of money with them. And then two days after I paid for a same-day build, I picked up my PC but then it took forever because they do not put the customers name on anything. They messed up the audio in my PC and did not give me back one of the parts from my PC as well. Overall, just very disappointed with my interactions with this store. read more

I brought my laptop in to be looked at on 9/12/23, first you have to sign in which wasn't working. Then after finally signed in using my phone the tech didn't use the walk in times, just randomly chose names. After 40 minutes I finally got to the counter at which the tech opens the computer before checking anything then takes it apart to get to the battery before finally plugging it in to check. After having to tell him it has a door switch he just looks at the battery and says might be battery or motherboard. No tests, no meter checks. He then asks if I want it put back together. When I say yes he puts it back together with left over screws and charges me $40 for what he did. Absolutely the worst so called repair service I have ever experienced. All they wanted to do is sell me a new computer. He even told me they don't sell that battery but on line it shows they do. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THEM. read more

Went in a few weeks ago to have the experts look at my Toshiba laptop and give an estimate on repair. Wait was not bad for a walk in (45 minutes) and techs were knowledgable and helpful. I ended up buying a new laptop, an Apple MacBook Air which I love. The staff was helpful and knew what they were doing and what they were talking about. The manager made sure to thank me before I left and contacted me later to see if I was satisfied with my purchase. This is definitely my go to place for computer needs and questions. The only reason it's not a five star is the brief interaction with a few staff members during the hour and a half I was there. Four out of five is 80% but I'd give them a 4.5 or 90% overall. read more

i went to Microcenter in Brentwood Mo to get my laptop worked on 7/12/2023. I called on Friday 7/14/2023 and spoke with a guy about my laptop. Well first they could not find my name in the system. I looked at the receipt saw they had a different name on my receipt and the guy verified that as well. He corrected the name and i asked if my laptop was ready. The young man said that it is being worked on and should be ready by the eod. Something did not feel right so i went up there and the young man that assisted me went in the back and checked and said that it is being worked on and should be ready later this evening or Saturday morning. I did not get a call so i called Sunday morning. When i get the young man on the line he says that it looks like the information was not entered into the system correctly and they were not sure what was supposed to be done. SO, i said to him instead of calling me you and another person lied and told me that it would be ready when it has never been worked on. I told him i would be up there to get my laptop and refund. Upon arriving I asked for a manager, told him what was going on. He was nonchalant about it. The manager went back there to find my laptop, they could not find it. I just happen to look at the back of counter and saw my laptop. There was no apology for the situation or anything. I will never return to this store poor customer service. read more

Rarely has spending over 1000$ on computers been this difficult. They were rude and condescending. We tried to call to speak with someone but no one ever picked up so we followed the instructions. Parked at the curbside pick up and were told we could t park there- the instructions had us fill out a form describing our vehicle and to park at the curbside pick up location. I had a horrifically awful experience there on (7-17-18) at around (10:15) am. When some twerp employee got obnoxious with me and I literally raised my voice at him. I never do that, I am always polite, yet he deserved it. That employee needs immediate retraining. I do really like this store and I buy almost all my electronics and computer parts from them,and that will not change. Microcenter has the same problems as any other retain establishment. Brick and mortar retail is a difficult business. You can't blame the Microcenter company for the actions of one ignorant employee. Love their selection of electronic odds and ends... managed to find a kit for sewing LEDs into clothes, and also walked away with a shiny new Arduino kit. Was surprised the prices were actually on-par with or better than online which almost never happens when you factor in the ridiculously crazy Brentwood sales tax. But yea. It's Microcenter. You know you go into stores really not expecting much these days, just get your items and leave. However this is not the case every time I go out of my way to drive 40 minutes to come here. I was getting things to set up a NAS server to run Plex off a raspberry PI, and I ended up talking to a nice guy behind counter for what seemed to be an hour about server set up and him bouncing ideas off me. I wish I remembered his name, but every time I go here I end up chatting with the sales associates about anything and everything, video games, products I'm looking to buy and even hardware support. Bought my last 2 computers here. When I bought the second the tech told me he could transfer my pictures to a backup He gave me the object to buy and I brought it to him and thought my pictures were safe I find out all he did was take the drive out of my old computer and put it in a storage case. Now 6 months later I go to review the pictures and the drive is broken I was told they may be able to recover the pictures but it would cost at least 1400 dollars. Trevor h suggested perhaps they put in a broken drive. I am a senior citizen and feel that I was mislead and that Micro Center acted in bad faith and took advantage of me. Pictures of my deceased parents and newborn grand children are gone. I strongly recommend avoiding these people if you are a senior citizen and technically challenged. read more

I went to microcenter in Brentwood due to my son shopping there frequently. I was looking for a mini computer and asked the sales associate to assist me. He looked up the computer and said the cheapest one was 749 dollars. Just thinking out loud I said oh ok I've seen them cheaper than that he proceeds to tell me "well go there" I am a someone who doesn't know alot about computers and for him to say that and not even attempt to offer any other assistance was unacceptable. I was so angry I left and went to best buy and the associate not only assisted me with purchasing what I needed, she also explained the different processors and what would work best for me. I just got totally ripped off and I'm so upset. I will never shop there again and I will put on my blog and on my Facebook page that no one should ever buy anything from the Micro Center. They're just out to make money off of people and not provide good customer service. So less than three months ago I went in and purchased an HP printer for full price and I purchased the $49.99 2 year warranty. Well low and behold the printer is a piece of crap and so I took it in today to exchange it for another one and was informed that I'd have to pay an additional $49.99 to extend and get a new warranty. What? Are you kidding me? I already paid that. I asked to speak to the manager and was told tough luck and that's the way they do it. Why should I have to pay for a new warranty when I paid for the original one? I see no rhyme or reason aside from them just trying to make an extra 50 bucks off of me. Perhaps they should consider carrying a line of printers that actually work and I don't break. I might also say that while I was in line to other people also came in with HP printers that were faulty and returning them because they were no good. After having the beautiful wife suffer with her dying laptop for too long, I finally put it bullet it in (figuratively, though literally would have been better) and headed out to Micro Center on of all days, Black Friday. I'll say that I was really impressed by the store -- I didn't browse anything except for the laptops but I could tell that if I needed X, they probably have it in stock. Their selection is pretty decent -- for laptops ranging from $250 "if all you do is surf the web" models to way more expensive models (they have both PC and Mac). I was pleased that items that were out of stock were clearly marked that (none need for employees to say "let me run to the back" and then come out empty handed). When I found that model I wanted, an employee was happy to assist, asked if I wanted an extended warranty (and was very clear about what it would or would not cover), quickly retrieved the computer, and waited in line with me. I'm not exactly sure why -- was that an anti-theft procedure or in order to get recognized for a commission? Doesn't matter, we made the usual smalltalk. Overall, I had the feeling that the staff here is a notch above Best Buy. When I got an available cashier, checkout was quick and effortless and I was on my way. Overall, I had a decent experience and would utilize them again for computer needs. read more

They have way more computer parts, pieces, and trinkets than other chains and you can get them at great prices, too. The staff here are super helpful. They don't hound you too much but are there when you need them and really know what they are talking about. If you have any computer needs I would for sure check it out. read more

Working in the IT business and with personal computers for as long as I have I always knew it was a pain finding parts online sometimes. I'm not going to lie, I'm a bit impatient, especially when dropping a great deal of money on a nice PC for myself. So it was either shop at Best Buy or wait 3-5 days from Newegg for parts to be shipped to me. I had heard of this mythical place called "Fry's" that never made it here so when I heard that Micro Center had opened its doors in Brentwood Promenade I was elated. The place has just about everything to build a PC and the prices are somewhat in range when compared to Newegg and the selection is definitely 30 times better than Best Buy. I enjoy shopping here. It is very comfortable and easy to find the components I need. Also I appreciate that they e-mail me a receipt which is way better than having a printed one. Yes I know, giving up a little more personal information for the sake of convenience isn't necessarily the smart thing to do but this is the first and only place I've ever shopped that has offered this service, and they don't spam me which is nice. Only crappy part, Brentwood Promenade parking lot is an absolute nightmare even when it isn't a typical shopping day. Avoiding carts, pedestrians, other cars and people in general is impossible. Hopefully all the businesses address the need for a safer parking lot. read more

For the average computer user, this is NOT the place to go. It's a huge computer warehouse, and unless you know exactly what you're looking for, you'll probably feel overwhelmed. Sort of like I did when I walked into Micro Center. Thankfully, my dad really knows what he's doing when it comes to computer hardware. With his help (and Micro Center's huge inventory!) we were able to build a top of the line gaming computer from the ground up (for me to waste even more time with)! Well...HE built it. But I like to think that I helped just a little! Anyway, Micro Center has a vast inventory with everything you'll need to build a nice computer from start to finish (cases, RAM, video/sound cards, hard drives, processors, etc.). So it's good for convenience. However, like I said before, it's not beginner-friendly at all. The techs who work there definitely know their stuff, and they'll be able to tell right away if you know what you're talking about. If you do, great! They'll point you in the direction of the component you're looking for. If you don't, well...you're kind of screwed. See, Micro Center doesn't label all of their parts with the current sale price. In one case, the superior processor was actually cheaper than an inferior one! If you don't know what you're doing, it's really easy to get suckered into spending more money than you need to. And since the techs at Micro Center work on commission, they're happy to see you fork out a few more bucks than necessary! My best advice would be to do your research before you get to the store. Look up the parts you need. Know how much they're selling for elsewhere. If you see a part at Micro Center that looks like it's more expensive than it should be, ASK IF IT'S ON SALE. In a few instances, parts were cheaper than labeled. Is this lazyness on Micro Center's part or is it an easy money grab to prey on the inexperienced? Or of course, you could be like me and let your computer hardware-savvy dad do all of the dirty work. :) read more

Being married to an IT guy, Micro Center is like our 2nd home. My hubby was ecstatic when this was built in St. Louis and he gets very excited every time we go. This is the mecca of computer stores. You can find anything from computers, to video games, to quirky knick knacks for the computer person in your life. Even their gift cards have an interesting spark to them. Many of their staff is very knowledgeable and can aid you in finding whatever you might need. As an added perk, if you join their mailing list, you will get several chances throughout the year for freebies - you can never have enough flash drives! read more

I still love micro-center, but wasting gas to go pick up an order for a $14 part and then being told I'll have to pay $24 (almost double) for it since I already bought one "within the last month or so," really didn't sit well for me. Lol, Are you worried I'm trying to make $10 by scalping these once a week? I appreciate that they seem to be battling scalpers, but people who seriously use Raspberry pi computers don't need just one, and I need as many as I can get. So yeah, Of course I don't want to pay scalper prices for these at your store. I would literally buy 100 of these in normal times because I need them for my company. I thought by purchasing one every few days I was in the area, it would still be polite to people looking for them, but allow me to build some semblance of the amount I had before covid. Just majorly unprofessional handling of the situation by the staff. I could tell he thought he was catching a scalper, but it's literally a single $14 component. So thank you Microcenter for Trying to scalp me while accusing me of being a scalper. I would like to receive a phone call from the manager to discuss the situation further. Edit due to response from representative: That doesn't address being treated like a criminal for wanting to buy two $14 components within a week of each other. I also wasn't given a straight answer for how often I can purchase. Not interested in paying Microcenter a scalper price because I need more than one. Part of the marketing of these is that they are cheap, so you can buy many and implement them in projects. I have left up my previous 5 star review of the company, because that was a genuinely positive experience. I made this 2-stars instead of 1 as well, because I usually appreciate The store and employees. Also, the workers may be under stress of the holiday rush. I get that, but if you knew me, where I've come from, and the amount of suffering I have endured to remain an honorable person in this world, and the amount of generosity I have contributed to the community. A geek like me could quite easily live in a place like MC. It appears to have all the essentials, except food, but that's negotiable. Less than 10 years ago, a place like this would be a refuge of the forever alone übergeek; a place much akin to a foreign country where knowledge of a foreign culture was an asset and knowledge of a foreign language was a requirement. Today, MC is as busy as any Best Buy. In fact I like to think of it as the grownups' Best Buy, a place for shoppers who know what they're doing to shop or get assistance from employees who know what they're doing. I don't mean to say if you're not a 1337 hax0r you'll be lost; that's what the staff is for. As the Good Book says, "When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things." For the computer geek at heart this is the Computer Store Mecca of St. Louis. I remember when they first opened and I just spent a couple of hours walking around in amazement of all the things I could buy. That is one of the problems with this store. If you like buying tech gear you could could spend way to much money here. I really enjoy the management staff here. They really want to make MicroCenter a success in St. Louis and so far I believe they have succeeded. TIP: Look for "Open Box" deals. You can save $30-60 on some higher priced items just because of a simple return or buyer remorse. When you are looking for a new computer, need to upgrade your "RAM", need a wireless keyboard and mouse (they have a whole isle of these by the way), Apple gear or a nice LED Flat Panel TV I would highly recommend this place. P.S. They have a decent gaming section also. They sale very well priced WII equipment. read more

Absolutely deplorable service! They sold me a hard drive that wasn't compatible with my computer. The manufacturer directly told them about this compatibility issue, however they still refused to find a solution for a longtime customer. Their corporate customer service didn't want to help either. It's amazing that a company would sell a customer an incompatible product and do NOTHING to stand behind their faulty advise. Too many other options to get electronics cheaper online with companies that actually stand behind their service and products. I'll never shop at Micro Center again. Wanting to buy a new laptop, I looked on or at all the usual places...Amazon.com, eBay, Best Buy, Tiger Direct, etc.; even the dread Wally World (Walmart) website. When I looked on the Micro Center website, just before Thanksgiving (2012) I did a double-take. I kept the web page open for Micro Center & opened more & more web pages comparing specs between them & the competition. When it came right down to the bottom line - there was NO competition! On the basic Gateway (owned by Acer) laptop eventually bought, Micro Center beat everyone by at least $80.00. Just to be sure, as I browsed through the Maplewood Commons Wally World early this morning (01-12-2013) I found the exact same model priced at $380. I paid $300 for mine (+ tax) just before Thanksgiving of last year. The salesperson (whose name slips my mind) took his time showing me the differences between Windows 7 & the new Windows 8 version. What-the-heck... Let's see if an old dog (me) can learn some new tricks. Once you get used to it, Windows 8 is actually quite "user friendly". Went to Micro Center to buy Three Company PC's, and the components for a fourth (build at home). They say they have same day build if purchased by 1600 hours. When I purchased all items, and paid for build option on three, they told me it would be the next day. I live three hours away and could not drive back for over a week. I told them I would just take the PC's home and build them myself and needed a refund for the cost of building them. They then said they could get them done that day. I sat in the parking lot for 6 hours waiting for them to call me. I finally went in to check about the time left and they said they were done. Sales staff was great, but service staff was slow and not very on top of things. I am glad they build the three PC's, and the cable management was good, but if would have been nice to be called when they were done. read more

TLDR: MC might have slightly better prices but their abhorrent customer service pays the price. Better to spend that little extra and get it online or from a more reputable place. I purchased a DJI drone. I dealt w/a friendly sales associate w/an intent to purchase new but after checking in the back, the sales guy informed me they only had 2 used drones. He brought out a clearance item & when questioned said it was a return "open box" item. He informed me that I had up to 30 days to try it out & that if I had any malfunctions w/the drone I could come back & return/exchange it, sold as a "no worries" warranty. I vetted the info on the MC site: "Aerial Drones Return Policy - Micro Center is happy to honor its customary 30-day return policy for Aerial Drone returns due to product defect or customer dissatisfaction. Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns w/ damage due to pilot error. So let's be careful out there!" I hesitated to purchase DJI Refresh due to Sales Assoc assurance that Microcenter had "my back" for 30 days, wouldn't make sense to get it right away. I flew the drone for 4 days before it flipped while in forward flight & crashed. Weather was light, altitude, terrain, obstacles, weather, I had the flight logs to prove my case. This was 100% a motor malfunction of some sort. I attempted to return/exchange the drone that same day & spoke w/ the GM of the store. Courteous & professional, his response did not match what his sales associate told me & what the website clearly states. He informed me that MC does not accept crashed drones, I had to deal w/ DJI to correct the malfunction. I confronted him about his sales associate's promises & the MC policy, he refused to debate this & repeated the same phrase at least 3x about how he wouldn't take a crashed drone; you could tell he was backed into a corner. I offered my flight logs as proof, he had no interest & repeated the same exact line, I got the hint. I then attempted to work w/ MC Corporate. Promised to look into it & report back; I gave them everything, video, weather data, terrain info, etc, I thought it would use that to verify my claim. A week goes by & they back to me, to my disbelief spilling out the same line as the GM & offers to have DJI look at it but follows up w/ "Honestly, it'd be better if you worked w/ DJI on this rather than us. There's a good chance it'll get delayed more if we do it" I informed them I shouldn't have to work w/ DJI since I was told I could return it if it malfunctioned & that the MC policy doesn't specify that "All crashed drones will not be accepted" & when confronted about this they went into repeat about helping w/ DJI; after just telling me they would only slow down the process. I'm then told "would you expect a car dealership to accept a car you just bought if you stepped on the gas & crashed into something?" I said no, but a better comparison would be what would I do if the accelerator pedal was stuck to the floor on the 5th day & I crashed the car, the answer is sue! Corporate strung me along for a week & flat out lied. Thanks a lot for a policy you don't stand behind, GM's who have no desire to help the customer, & Corporate who strings you along for a week & just lies to get you to shut up. read more

This place is not like your typical electronics store - it is basically a giant computer warehouse, similar to the old CompUSA. I was able to find some really good deals in the new Micro Center in Brentwood. I do agree with Kurt W., this store can be a little overwhelming. It is also kind of messy inside - but that is because they have a ton of inventory and you can find a lot of obscure computer products that most of the time you have to order online. I was able to pick up some cheap blank media. Not the best place to shop for a computer, but great for all of the other small accessory items everyone needs for their computers or laptops. read more

Micro Center is *the* place in St. Louis to indulge your general geekitude, because, let's face it, we're all techno-nerds deep down inside (or wannabes, at least). Want to build your own computer? You can do that here. Need instruction on CS5? OK. Want a book on SQL servers? Check. External hard drives and kitten mouse pads? Of course. Games for Wii, PS3, XBox? Just for you. PCs, Macs, and all things Linux? This is the spot. Really, if you think of it, Micro Center has it, and that makes it a great resource. Whether you're looking for iPod socks or just the right SATA drive to put in your custom rig, the staff there are friendly and really knowledgeable. Their monthly circular outlines some really great deals and is worth looking in to. It's fun to roam around, slinging Bawls or Red Bull and drooling at the 'Wall of Heroes' (Steve Jobs, Kenneth Thompson, etc.) near the ceiling while shopping for software. I don't even consider places like Best Buy an option anymore for my technical needs. I'm very grateful that Micro Center is in St. Louis. What a great place. read more

For the average computer user, I really don't think this is the place to come shop for a computer. There is just way too much going on in the store that it becomes overwhelming. Although, isn't that the way most big box stores are? A big circus of customers and products all under one gigantic roof? However... If you are knowledgeable about computers, and you know enough to replace a hard drive or setup a wireless network, then I would suggest coming here. You will be pleased. Now, I will say the prices are so-so, but for the most part, it is nice to look at something before you buy, sometimes. For those looking for Apple products, they have them. And I was quite surprised by how much they do have on hand. That said, again, prices are probably not the best, but a good place to look. read more
