Compared to Best Buy, small guys around Denver, and others, this is about as good as it gets in CO. Just remember this is Denver so the work ethic at this store is better than other places in town too even if it is not always 100% great (comparing to other weekend gigs I've held but those pay better than a retail associate too). You're usually lucky not to get a kid, stoner, or half-***er at other places. The techs go the extra mile to try and help (fixed my screen for $0/ replaced things that broke without sending to mfg./etc.). They want to find what you need. Remember Mac is an Apple product. There are very, very few people who can truly help you with a Mac and Apple sues most of them for simply not replacing the machine (Louis Rossman). The retail associates deserve their commission since they actually work with you to find the products you need. Honestly, the best way to get help here is to just mention what you need and a thing here and there as you hone in on a solution. Try that at Best Buy. There is a reason these guys don't need to sell dishwashers to break even. The only other 1 star review I can see here that isn't for Mac/Apple is for one of those oddball accidents. That is earned. The only downside, prices can be a bit higher than Amazon for some prices and they dropped the refurbished monitor deals which was a bummer. Just wanted to leave a review for the people that work at the Knowledge Bar. Everyone was very friendly. I needed to get the BIOS updated on a motherboard I purchased from Microcenter. They do complimentary BIOS updates if you purchase the board from them. The sales people at Microcenter are very knowledgeable albeit some are kind of awkward but that's okay. If I need a computer part that same day I'll just come here. My only nitpick about Microcenter is that the attire they force their employees to wear is so outdated. It's like you're walking into a store and there's just a sea of people wearing pale blue dress shirts. Just saying, it's 2019 not 1998. First of all, this is a review that hopes that these folks work on the quality of their service and change their poor unprofessional habits. 1. My device that was supposed to take 3 days took two weeks!! 2. During the time of repair, they failed to contact me as agreed on the order confirmation document that they gave me that day. 3. I had to literally call daily to check on the status of my device as it felt as though they had forgotten about it!! (Even though we are all going through a pandemic, courtesy is KING!!). 4. On the day of the pick up of my device, the store clerk calls the manager on me because of foolish and poor judgement of clients--judging me and my fiancée on our skin color. And asks us for proof of ownership for f device as well as my ID (which they NEVER told me about on phone, in person when handing in my device for repairs or on the confirmation document). 5. I have been a customer at this store for nearly two decades, I have had a commercial account with them for about half that time. Ever since the expansion I have been experiencing some of the worst customer service, inexperienced staff with inconsistent and contradictory training. Below are a few examples of my most recent experience: Manager:" we do not match manufacturer's pricing because they can set any price they want and it's not fair" CAN ANYONE MAKE SENSE OF THIS STATEMENT? 4 weeks for the "service" department to basically just house my laptop. I was sent by the maker of my laptop to this location for repairs covered by my warranty. I was then called to say it was ready for pickup, drive 30min to the store only to have this repugnant child behind the counter tell me to ship the laptop to the manufacturer. When asked why they couldn't repair the answer was jumbled and incoherent. I knew there was a reason why I didn't bother going to this outdated, disheveled chain. Regarding customer service at Micro Center in Denver: I recently purchased a new PowerSpec desktop computer at Micro Center plus additional RAM. At my house, it didn't work. Plugged in, it would turn on and I could hear the fan running but no display. So I took it in to the store to get a repair, replacement, or a refund. At the customer service desk, a young man named Jimmy Gilbert proceeded to run a few tests and examine a few potential problems with the unit. I am a mac user, not a PC - and I know very little about RAM etc etc. My boss asked me to give these guys a call and inquire about 8gb of RAM. I have never heard of Micro Center and I guess there is a reason for that. You can't get a person on the phone - when you call, they suggest you text (ok, that's easy) but I wanted to be very sure that what I wanted to purchase was correct and requested someone give me a quick call three times. They ignored the request. Sorry to see any human interaction fade away. They lost a customer - and I'm sure had I been happy and able to get what I needed, I would have continued to go back. Too bad as I work for a medial device company and we always need things. This is my goto place for true geek stuff. Love this place! It brings me joy just thinking of it. Great customer service, great product selection, great price deals usually too. I feel lucky this store is in our backyard and we don't have to mail order items. Just get in your car and go pick it up. Yea! One thing I did experience more recently is the order online and pick-up in the store. I wouldn't recommend this service at this time. I had to wait in line longer than if I had just picked it up myself and checked out. One of the two people retrieving your stuff from the online / pickup order was also answering phones and doing other things. It was kind of frustrating while it took longer and longer for the line to move. So sad that a neat idea just hasn't been implemented so well. I was in the market for a new laptop earlier this year. MicroCenter was recommended to me, and I'm glad I checked them out. I did my research before I arrived, so I could eliminate needing to be there a long time. The first time I went in, I checked out the MacBook Air. I was approached by someone knowledgeable about Apple products, and we had a great conversation. He asked me some things I hadn't considered. As a result, I went back into research mode. We priced out a few accessories and must haves (security and protection plans), and I went back home. After doing some more research, I was ready to make my purchase. Although the associate I had been working with wasn't in at the time I wanted to buy my laptop, he was still able to get credit for helping me out (they're on commission). The process was really easy, including checkout. I ended up returning the case I purchased for a different model I bought online. The returns process was smooth and easy. I've been back for a few more items in the past couple months. I'm glad to have a dedicated shop nearby. About their protection plan, it's more inclusive than AppleCare. I have been going to Microcenter in Colorado for about 13 years and maybe more in which they were my number one choice for Apple Product purchasing. However, that department has weaken over the years and I don't go there much anymore. Also, I have bought a lot of printers there, but you can beat their prices online quite a bit these days. There lines are horrible in which they have tried to fix the problem in several ways and things are better than years before, but still a pain. The bright spots are the staff is pretty helpful and not to aggressive about selling you something that you don't need. Finally, it does seem to be a good place for people that build their own PCs, so it is a good spot for that and they have a pretty good digital camera selection along with a good TV selection. Their monitors are also pretty decently priced and they have some neat accessories for all kinds of electronics. Therefore, I would recommend stopping by to have a look, but remember you can beat their prices online from time to time. read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would. On February 27, 2023 I gave my custom built PC to Micro Center because I knocked it off of my desk, I was told that they would run a diagnostic for me and that it would cost $40, I accepted and left my PC there. Micro Center had my PC until March 18, 2023, when they then called me to inform me that my CPU was "dead", RAM was "dead", and that my motherboard was "dead". When I went to get it from the Micro Center I asked for and itemized list of my diagnostic. The list that I got showed that they took my PC on 2/17 and then did nothing until 3/18 when within the span of two minutes from 11:23:40 AM to 11:24:13 AM they declared my CPU, RAM &MOBO are dead and that I would need a new PC as well as leaving comments such as "left vm for dead PC", and "9G4". I got to micro center at around 12:30 pm on 3/18 where I waited for 20 or so minutes for them to give me back my PC and hand me the diagnostic paper, they explained nothing on the paper to me and then they went on to helping other guests, not giving me time to evaluate my diagnostic or ask questions. When I got home I plugged in my PC to find that my MOBO still lights up and is seemingly functional, my CPU also still lights up but the fan does not run so it seems to be damaged. Micro center declared both of those functions dead meaning that they would not work at all. This leads me to believe that micro center did not look at my PC at all. read more

I had heard great things about this place. To say I was disappointed was an understatement. I took my laptop in on January 16th to get a battery changed. This a new laptop, no other problems ever. At first I was thrilled. I got great service and me not being tech savvy I was thrilled. The associate said I will do it now for you. I had school starting so I was happy. I paid $115.27 for a new battery and came back picked it up. I even called my friend and said you have to come here. They are awesome. I was wrong. I get my laptop back and it is shutting down with a warning about the battery not being HP. Ok the tech said it is fine. It doesn't need a HP battery. I went back a third time for the same associate to tell me if it is shutting down then it is the mother boad and you are going to want to buy a new computer. I explained I have treated this one with white gloves and I have never had an issue. He said drop off if that is what you want but it will cost as much to fix as you paid about $800. I took it to a different place because I needed my laptop for school, and yes they put a new battery in it that was HP and not one problem. The place I took it said I should take it back because I already am out $115 but I couldn't. Microcenter broke me. I went there three times in two days and feel like I got ripped off 100%. Microcenter is an excellent company I've been doing business with for years. We are fortunate to have them here in Denver. Ryan (sales manager) is fantastic at his job and is clearly enthusiastic and in touch with his customer base about the tech were are after. Their staff is knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful. I can't give enough credit to Microcenter as a whole for doing everything they can to get GPUs and CPUs in the hands of people that need them during the current tech shortage. They've done everything the can reasonably do to make sure that products are available and not being sold to for resale by scalpers or bought out by miners. I placed an online order for a mouse that was listed as 'In Stock' on the Micro Center website, and received an order confirmation on the website after checking out. I was supposed to receive another confirmation via email telling me that my item was ready for pickup. However, that email never came. I didn't receive an email of any kind regarding my order. So, after checking with an employee over the phone that the item is indeed in stock, I go to Micro Center and upon arriving to collect my order no one can locate it, the item isn't on the shelf, it's not in the warehouse, no one can find my order confirmation, and my name isn't in the system. The employee offers to find someone to go on a scavenger hunt to find the mouse, but I've been through this scenario with Micro Center before, and I know it's a wild goose chase that can only end in even more wasted time on both sides. So, I decline and decide to leave. I find out later that my online order was cancelled (despite the website giving me order confirmation, complete with an order number), but Micro Center neglected to inform me of this change. That's helpful. Overall this experience was pretty much par-for-the-course with this place; chronic mismanagement, unreliable inventory, poor communication, and a distinct lack of viable solutions when something goes wrong...and things are consistently going wrong. read more

From past visits, I knew Apple products were stashed at the back left corner so I just walked all the way to Apple area. Right, so I keep getting e-mails from MC basically begging me to review their product and it keeps bringing up memories of the crap I dealt with last time, so here it is: No. Don't go here. Not if you need anything service related done. I came in with an Alienware desktop that needed a case swap to fit a brand new 1080ti (both the case and the gfx card were purchased from MicroCenter). Told the guy I needed it done quickly, which was true, I use the computer for work as well as play. He said something to the effect of 2 days and I can't remember how much it was going to cost (I think they were going to charge it as a build). While I *can* build computers, I'm generally far too lazy, so I figured screw it I'll let them do it and come back in a few days. Something like 3 or 4 days later I tried to call them up to see what was going on with it. No one in the service department picked up, so I drove over. Lady at the service counter tried to talk about for a bit, said it was on the bench, etc. After some pressure, she admitted they hadn't even opened it yet and blamed it on losing a few techs. Radio silence is not the answer to that problem, make a phone call and let me know. At the end of the day, MicroCenter losing techs is a MicroCenter problem, not a me problem, but I might be more understanding if they reach out and let me know it's going to be a few more days and would that be okay? I can assure you, in this case it was not. I got the tower back and they didn't charge me. Took it home and popped it open to find out the motherboard was proprietary, as well as the power source. Since, at this point, I was on an extreme time crunch and absolutely *had* to get back to work, I went back to MicroCenter and got a new mobo and supply as well as some extra RAM and then went home and performed the swap myself. It was *far* from smooth, there were a few other things on the software end that bugged out as well. How long would this have taken if I had left it with MicroCenter? Beyond that, I absolutely do not appreciate basically being forced to go back to MC and spend more money because of time constraints. Given more time, I absolutely would have gone to newegg or Amazon, but since they screwed me around for so long with the build, I didn't have time to wait for shipping and had to go to a brick and mortar shop. Oh, and the RAM I picked up was faulty and caused a bit of hairpulling on my end before I realized that it was, in fact, the RAM that was causing the crashes and yanked it out. So thanks for that, too. Two stars because they do generally have whatever you would need in stock and the staff is usually pretty knowledgeable (make sure you check prices online first though, some things in the store are grossly overpriced while others are actually cheaper than online), but said staff is basically nonexistent and checkout lines can be long. Service is slow and will blatantly lie to your face as well, and MC didn't even offer me an apology for the aforementioned BS, much less anything financially viable to make it worth my while to go back after losing money from missed work. *Screw* these guys.
