I came in for a simple refund because I don't need the battery for my mac, the employee brought my battery in the back for technician to check it out, then came back told me that it looked like I switched up the battery, then the manager came and verified it is the original battery u purchased then offered 10% off? I wouldn't even come back for free tomorrow be. Why not verify products before accusing customers from wrong doing? This place serious have lacking of communications, and customer services need to be more educated. They don't seem to know what's going on in the stores. Will NEVER return to this store again. This is a rough review. I like this place because it's really the only place in Houston that has all the pc parts anyone needs. The biggest complaint I have is it's really easy to feel claustrophobic when there is one than 1 person down an aisle. The associate that was working outside during the covid QR line scan thing wasn't the friendliest person. But once you go inside most of the workers are very helpful. Was told to bring it back in. When they got there, a different employee was very rude and disrespectful. He made the part fit and fixed it, but was very rude to my 15 year old brother. The sales associate who assisted me, Nicholas, was extremely accommodating! He helped me load my new TV into my Camaro, which was NOT an easy task! It took at least half an hour in the hot sun but he never complained and made sure I got my tv! Thanks for your above and beyond customer service, Nicholas! Not to mention, I was really surprised by how huge this store was! The prices were great. I received a damaged 50 inch tv from amazon, so I sent it back for a refund and decided to look at Micro Center for another one. I ended up upgrading to a 55 inch for only $20 more! I used to go to Micro Center a lot for both myself, my family, and the people I work for. I'm somewhat knowledgeable with what parts are what with a computer and have replaced memory cards, and hard drives quite a few times so I know what is involved. I bought my PowerSpec computer at the old store near Post Oak about 2 1/2 years ago. When I bought it, the people were very good to me, helping me choose what to include and then taking the extra steps to configure my hard drive just how I wanted. I was more than pleased. About a month ago I began having warning messages on my computer that my 7 RAMs of memory were completely used and my hard drive was completely full. This seemed impossible as I had a 2 TB Hard Drive. Weird. So without thinking about losing my info, I unplugged and took it to the new location Micro Center. New system check-in was quick because I was there when the doors opened. I explained what was going on and they recommended that I do a back up. I paid for the $40 for diagnosis and the back - up was going to cost $69. That was on a Monday. I heard back about the computer on Wednesday evening. The tech told me that my hard drive was saving copies of not only my google drive files but all of google drive, over and over again. That was what had taken over the computer. He said he could take google drive off the hard drive after back up. I said okay. I asked that after back up, I wanted to buy a new internal hard drive, so please back up the present hard drive to a new internal hard drive and the new external hard drive. That was Wednesday. I never heard back from anyone after that. I called the following Monday morning and they guy told me my computer was ready and that I had been told it was ready. I had not. I checked my phone. No one had called me. I went and picked up the computer. I took it home. My computer was completely wiped. No info. The external drive had NO info. I called the store. It was the tech's day off. The next day I called the store. The tech said he had tried to call me but wasn't able to leave a message. Liar. No phone record of a missed call. I asked to speak to the manager. I explained to the manager what had happened. He said he would get to the bottom of it and call me back. He never called me back. I was charge not only for the internal and external hard drives but $99 for "labor". To my present knowledge, I have lost all my data and ten years of photos. I found some of my docs on an old hard drive. I am waiting for a sleeve (from Amazon) to be able to plug my newer old hard drive in to find the rest of my files. If I discover that that "tech" wiped my old drive clean, some one is going to hear more about this. It won't be pretty. read more

I'm pretty good with computer stuff. I like this place because it's pretty well organized, and they have a lot of the niche stuff you won't find elsewhere. The prices are also super competitive, even compared to online stores. I've always found the employees there to be very helpful in the computer parts sections and laptop sections, although I usually know what I'm looking for when I get there. This store also updated their checkout system which is a lot quicker than it was before. I also appreciate that their website will tell you the specific store location of an item and their inventory quantity, so I can research parts first and know they have them in stock. Good prices, easy enough to get in / get out. read more

I rarely give 2-stars, but when I do it's well deserved. I was looking to upgrade the RAM and memory on my laptop. I had a quote from Best Buy, but decided to check out Micro Center since their prices were lower. The "Build your PC" desk was great. The gentleman there helped me fast, was attentive and helpful at answering questions. He even walked me over to the "Knowledge Bar" to show me where to check-in to be seen (this was my first time). Here's where it changed.. I checked-in and had 4 people ahead of me. I patiently waited while only 2 were assisting behind the desk. A woman walks in half an hour later with her dog and checks in. Clearly this dog is not a working dog and by his yelping (haha) wasn't happy there. She then pulls out a puppy pad and allows him to go in the cart. Gross! I love dogs, but no ma'am! An hour has now gone by, she walks up to sit at one of the empty barstools and manages to weasel her way in with one of the helpers. Yep! She cut 4 people in line! The system they have was pointless and no manager to enforce it. I do not recommend the Knowledge Bar, unless you have at least an hour to kill standing in line. I bought the products there and happily drove across the street to GeekSquad. They greet you quickly and have more than 2 assisting customers. read more

The in-store computer service at Micro-Center Houston is abysmal. I've used them twice and they've never kept a single promise. They don't return phone calls. And I'm pretty sure they have no clue what they are doing. They've ordered parts without letting me know or giving me pricing. And when the Manager was supposed to call me back, nobody did. The ONLY way I got them to notice I was alive was to call their main office in Ohio! I'd avoid at all costs. read more

Not what has changed here but the quality of staff has plummeted and can no longer expect helpful assistance. I work in the tech field and know what I an asking for but they act like I don't. I have been experiencing either a low quality staff member that simply does not know or a 'white shirt' individual that seems bothered we ask for help. The store is also a complete mess and seems highly disorganized and unprofessional. Use to be much more in order at the previous location. Not sure what is going on but appears to be poor management in place now. Has been this way the last 3 visits. Probably will not be another 3 visits from me. Sorry to see that. I like this store much better than bestbuy....I recently purchase 2 monitors and the cables that allow me to hook my MacBook Pro up to a dual monitor....They had the right cables in stock to all me to do so that were not available at The Apple Store or Bestbuy....Also their prices were much cheaper....The only thing I did not like about this place is the location...It is kind of out of the way and hard to get in and out of the parking lot. read more

Every sales person was busy with a customer (yes there's was that many people...it was crazy). I am a big Micro Centers fan. I have been going to Micro Center for a few years... But now they opened their new location literally 5 minutes from my house.. I love that this is really just a computer store.. So they tend to stock more IT/computer related items and not everything like frys/bestbuy/etc. I usually get most of my computer parts/items from newegg and amazon... But for motherboards/cpu's nobody can match/beat Micro Center. Also for other items they are competitive.. You usually can haggle/price match them to online sites.. Which is amazing.. I wasn't planning to write any Yelp reviews on anything other than restaurants and bars, however, when a place gives you above and beyond service, I feel it necessary to point it out. People will certainly do it on something negative in a heartbeat. I was searching for computer hardware that was constantly sold out, everywhere. I went in for the second time and left my name and number with Nkem in the Build Your Own System area at the back of the store. I continued to search for the product in question finding it sold out, every day, at Microcenter, Frys, Best Buy, and ridiculously marked up online. I was ready to go back and start bugging them to remember me, but no need. After nearly 9 days, Nkem remembered to contact me. What I was looking for was finally in, and he would set it aside until I could get there. Aside from long checkout lines at peak times, I've never had a visit where the staff was not helpful and knowledgeable. Experiences seem to vary, but all mine have been 5 star worthy. read more

This place is a JOKE and so is the "Manager" Ryan Nall, I brought in a PC that I purchased from Micro Center in 2017 and spent about $1000 under the impression that it was a "great computer" and wouldn't crap out on me like my last one did. About 6 months ago the PC started to have some issues, first the port to hardwire the internet went out no big deal it has WiFi I will just use that, then the USB ports on the back went out, crap that sucks I guess I'll just use the ones in the front super inconvenient but still not a huge deal to take it all apart and drag it up to Micro Center, well yesterday the PC decided it will no longer connect to WIFI and every single USB port has stopped working! So I take it up to Micro Center Warranty area and show them my receipts and that I have a 3 year protection plan and the lady says something is wrong with my plan and it's only on the monitor, mouse and keyboard but not the actual PC itself. I told her there is no way that's possible and that we purchased protection on everything and can she get a Manager to please see what's going on. Well then comes Mr.HotShot himself claiming he is the highest manager at the building and there wasn't anyone over him and that I just need to pay $400 or more to have it fixed because the plan was sold to me incorrectly, and then as I am obviously upset that I purchased all this protection for 3 years and it doesn't even cover the most important part because the lady who checked us out didn't put it on correctly he says it's my fault that we didn't catch it before now and says I don't need to disrespect him and walks off being a smart ass talking about I didn't get the right plan so there is nothing he is going to do to fix the situation. I mean why TF would I put protection on everything but the most important part like come dude are you really that dumb and terrible at customer service??? I mean shit was I supposed to go behind the register and ring myself up or trust that the employee knew what they were doing when they put all the protection on my purchase?‍The dude needs some MAJOR training on customer service and on how to deliver bad news and I don't know maybe just maybe work something out with a customer that frequently shops at his store and spends a shit ton of money and the fact that the customer was sold a faulty product that died in 2 1/2 yearswith a protection plan that an employee put on the products incorrectly? But hell what do I know? I'm the one stuck with a giant hunk of junk that just decided to stop working! I went in to the Apple section of the store where two clerks are normally assigned. I wanted a keyboard and travel case for a ipad mini. I only found one open pack of each of three brands. They often have the same item in multiple places to hide the lack of selection but after waiting a half hour while the two clerks took customers on tours of the store I was told that open boxes is all they had, but they would reduce the price on replacements for missing pieces. No thanks aftwr waiting that long. I spoke to Manager David Diaz and he blamed Apple but didn't ask if theis was an Apple product. It wasn't. Microcenter just runs short at times. Nothing new. Best Buy matches the price and had plenty in two brands. Short much for short shipments David. I got a clerk in under five minutes too. read more

Like this place! So i love to build my own things...from miniature breadboard, hot wire, to color coded shrink tubes...they have it The place is a bit small but neat, has everything. I gave the 3D-Printing Tech Sales Guys one hell of a run for their time and surprisingly they were able to answer most of my questions. (NO, I did not buy the machine, i think it is a bit overpriced and a bit unrefined). Yet Micro Center's only faulty is that they sale the product like it is the best knowingly there will be something else later much much more efficient Conveniently located across the lane is Starbucks; Sam's gas is over the other side of the street, and then Walmart is in the same plaze behind the hotel. All in all, this is place has much better service than Frys and has more selection than Radio shack down the street. read more

Well the price point for the store is on the high side. I'm not a big fan of purchasing new electronics all of the time. I really like to stick to the basics and leave all the high-tech stuff for my guy to buy and enjoy. I have come here multiple times with my guy for him to pick out some items, but for me I just needed to swing by and purchase a laptop charger because I could not find mine for some reason. Well thank goodness for the return policy because after a day and not even opening the package I managed to find my laptop charger and simply returned my purchase. I would say the customer service here is spectacular, the gentleman who helped me find what I was needing was very knowledgeable and friendly that's hard to come by in Houston at times. I would strongly come back here on a whim if I needed an electronic that might be a little bit more peculiar. I'm not quite understanding all the negative reviews but my experience was 5 stars. It is quite odd that people start lining up outside at 9:45 am on a Saturday morning.. but that's on the people of Houston and not Micro center. Despite the line once the store opened they let everyone in very quickly. I had made an appointment at the Apple service station and was serviced right away. The guy helping me very friendly and helpful.. unfortunately I had water damage to my laptops keyboard and he didn't sugar coat it (which I appreciated). Basically he told me it would cost the price of a new laptop to replace all the parts due to water damage. I opted out and ended up wandering to the Apple department to buy a USB keyboard to use. Ryan was very friendly and helped me find a keyboard that has a similar feel to my laptop. The checkout process was quick and again I was impressed by the very friendly customer service. This place is HORRIBLE and full DISCRIMINATION ! I was here today with my husband to do computer shopping for our business and as my husband and I walked pass the TWO bottle of hand sanitizer my husband use it and right after we did one of the sale man Micheal put both bottles away ( like away from the counter) I was confused and went to asked if those are for customers to use other employees said yes. I told the guy what happened and Michael's action made us feel discriminated. I spoke to the manager and I went to asked Micheal directly why he said because its for employee only. I told him if that he could of told us nicely instead of act like that. While talking Michael tone of voice and reactions does sound racist. I never really stepped in here until I decided to build a PC. I picked up a motherboard, PC case, SSD, and their own flash drives for decent prices. The staff there are pretty friendly and will answer your questions to meet your needs. I got their personal opinions on what I should do when I was unsure of which power supply would be sufficient for my build. One complaint is the line does take a while even when there was barely anyone there on the weekday. The weekend does get pretty busy so I would suggest to go early in the day if you plan to get in and get out. read more

There are so many people available to assist and their knowledge of the equipment is extraordinary. My last visit was for a hard drive. I walked in at 10am and I was back in my truck at 10:08. I really use to like coming here until today. The degree to which I was followed around the store by manager Jeff White was insulting in the highest regard! I went to multiple sections of the store to gather items for my next build, and literally every time I looked over my shoulder, he was right there staring me down! It made me feel extremely uncomfortable. The absolute worst part about the entire encounter was the fact that he never asked if I needed any help!!
