Based on my experience in November 2016, I can't believe the bad reviews. Perhaps management/training has changed? Super service, on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and on Black Friday even, for an exchange of an online purchase, which was not even $$$ to them. I can tell you spending an hour at micro center today was a wasted effort The manager is pretty much an imbecile The line was wrapped clear around the side of the building and all the way to the back side of the building and the manager waited till 86 people had left the building before he let anybody in I was like 5 from the door and of course then what I got in I had to wait another 15 or 20 minutes while people search for a mouse that wasn't in the holding cell wasn't on the bins and wasn't actually in the back of the warehouse so you can imagine pretty peeved at the manager right now because he's just an idiot shouldn't he be running the store doesn't know anything about customer service and they should put somebody else in charge there that it can least sit there and gather some kind of sense and figure out that when people are standing outside and there's 86 people that have already left the building and they're running on building quotas for covet 19 they should at least go ahead and let some people in not wait till it gets up to 100 to let another 50 people in That's just totally ignorant and bad bad customer service read more

I would have put this location at 5 Stars except for the reason below. I came in the day prior to purchase a charging adapter for my laptop. The online description stated it works with Dell. However the tip options for the adapter did not include the size for my laptop. I went online again because my laptop will charge from a USB-c as well. As long as it is at least 90w. I found the item. Went back to the store and asked for the new adapter and wanted to return the other. There was no issue with the exchange. However the clerk called another rep up, who spoke down to me as if I had no clue as to what I was talking about and spoke over me. He brought back three adapters. One dell open box with no connectors, then a new one. That adapter fit except the cost was $59.99. He showed me another one that had the correct tip that was a universal and he said the price was $69.99. But then I looked at the package and it shows the regular price as $29.99 and because it was an open box it was now just over $23.00. I said i would take that one, he then he would get me a new one. I asked why I could. It have that one. He said because it was open box. I said is it not for sale? He said yes but it's open box. I said does not not work? He said yes it should, I said then I'll take that one but will plug it in before I leave to make sure. I then asked why he had not brought up the one I asked him to bring. He said because "I" don't like it. I guess if I were the buyer or worse yet the manufacturer and perhaps paid slotting to have my unit for sale in the store I would be a little miffed if the sales agent was not at least trying to sell the unit that I manufacture. I didn't have a whole lot of time to get a monitor for my computer and so I can appreciate the fact that the place allowed you not to get trapped forever to get out. Got. Great service team and staff! A coolant service was going to take 30 days but Ryan and Almarya took time and got it done in one day! Got my custom water cooled pc done with them and future services done with them but this time they went above and beyond the expected finish date. Just shows they care about all our builds! DO NOT USE THIS STORE! I left my water damaged MacBook Pro with them Jan 18. They promised, at the latest, they would complete the process by Jan 21. On Jan 21 I received a message they needed to order a cord for the recovery and it would be ready in a few days. 15 days later and nothing. No phone call. No email. No responses to the various messages I left with inquiries. Tonight I went in to pick it up and go to another supplier. It took them another 30 minutes to locate the computer and when I asked if data recovery was even attempted they had no idea. I will be reviewing this "all service repair center" on every social media platform there is. I love that you can come here to get strictly PC and PC related goods without having to suffer with the hassle that is Frys Electronics or Best Buy. The selection of items ranges from all over, such as actual components for computers, cable management and everything in between. They also have 3D printers on display! It's clean, and their line management for checkout is well-done. My only gripe is that there isn't more of these around Houston, which is a huge shame and pain when you live on the opposite side of town. read more

Micro Center too big now and service is really bad. Techs are bad and nothing works in my computer like it should. I paid for subscription to Office and they were to load it but no one did and they kept the card. NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE!!! Can't get the problems fixed that their techs created. He stayed within our budget and explained everything to me as we compared different models. They staff here even made some "ear savers" for my pharmacy staff. walked in and was greeted by princess, she has the biggest smile on her face as i am typing this review. she was able to point me in the right direction with my complicated request. sent me to aisle 13 and the apple aisle. Beksultan greeted me in the apple section and helped me out tremendously then sending me over to aisle thirteen with Fernando. It's weird every time I drive past the galleria, i am always stumped by this establishment but it is my first time here and it has been a great experience. It's very clean, fresh air inside. All product is organized, easy to walk through the store with no stressful thoughts all employees had an alternative solution to my request and I was able to leave the store happy. Do not shop here! You can not trust these people. I ordered an arcade cabinet for store pick up. I got an email saying that it was ready for pick up. Then I received an email from someone at the store stating that the box was damaged and asking if I still want it. When I got to the store, it was not ready. I waited for 30 minutes and they told me they can not find it. One of the managers told me they will ship it to my home. I said ok. Then they changed their mind and told me I needed to come back at another time to repeat the same process. I explained that it was a 40 minute drive and that I did not feel safe in their store because it was so crowded during a pandemic. They refuse to ship it. The whole process felt like they wanted to discourage me from buying because it was on sale for half the price. First they said the box was damaged. Well if someone saw the box then why can they not find it? Then when I agreed to ship it, they refused to ship it. Then I checked the item again a few days later, the same item was in stock for full price. What a fraud! By the way, the manager's name is Nester. I heard him on the walkie talkie telling the other manager to ship it. read more

One star short of a 5 star review, that missing star is because customer service is abysmal, and checking out is a slow and laborious affair, though thankfully they have added a monitor to indicate which checkout to use which is semi helpful. Selection is good, despite their prime location (well previously) they do make an effort to keep prices down, but if you don't know what you need, best of luck finding anyone to help you, the most you'll likely get is the aisle number before they walk away looking for a larger sale -- let's be realistic though their people are likely on commission, so it's not at all unexpected.. Been shopping here for what feels like decades, if you're a professional this place is great, if you're a consumer without much electronics experience you may face some frustration or worse, but this is a great store nonetheless. read more

I've bought from microcenter for years. I've always had problems with them. Once they tried not to honor their warranty to try to make me pay more. Right now a laptop I bought from them two years ago is currently being serviced for a faulty fan or motherboard problem. And more recently, I bought a computer case that was damage. I brought it in for an even exchange but they were out of the product, and the manager would not work with me to get a case. My advice, don't buy from them. read more

Have shopped at Micro Center for about two years and they have become my "go to" shop for all electronics. The store is laid out for convenience and you can easily find what you're searching for. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. You can find almost everything in electronics here, from t.v.'s, computers, audio equipment, phones, to cables, etc. And oh my god, the clearance section at the end of the aisles, awesome! They sometimes have fully functional equipment for pennies on the dollar! read more

Service department is horrible. Bought the insurance that was recommend by the salesman who sold me the computer. He assured me it would cover the computer. WRONG! It's useless. I even offered to purchase more insurance, management said no. When your in a bind and need management to see it from your prospective don't depend on Microcenter. While I've never actually purchased from Micro Center, because I live 225 miles away and they do not sell online. I don't understand the logic or the Store owner! In reading the reviews here, for every negative review he states the same basic answer! An appology, says he will use this info to train his people, but evidently never does because they keep on ignoring customers and are clearing not being trained correctly, nor are they being held accountable! When I was a Store Manager for 29 years, my motto was "Treat Every Customer The Same way That You Would Want To Be Treated"! And as a manager I would always inspect what I expect! And lead by example! Another thing that I don't understand is, if I'm willing to drive 225 miles one way to make an over $3000 purchase, then why would you not let me purchase the items that I want online, making sure that they are in stock, and all that I have to do when I arrive, after my 4 hour trip, is to show the cashier my online receipt, my drivers license, and the credit card that I've used to pay for the purchase?! Instead of this, I'm told that I can not pay for anything online and that I have to drive 225 miles, then and only then am I allowed to purchase these items! That is of course if they are actually still in stock! Because if you just sold the last one minutes before I arrived at your store, then I am S.O.L.! And I will probably get the same appology speech some of the other reviewers received!! Mr. Owner/Manager, you need to get out of the office, check up on your employees, when you find them not treating customers the way that they should be treated, you need to take charge of the situation and show them the right way to treat customers! At the very least you could install security cameras down the aisles and review these with your employees when you've seen them not giving good customer service! First of all, I'm glad this Micro Center exists and is near by. Is much better in my opinion to go to a store and buy your computer hardware directly from the shelf than order it online. I recently built a custom gaming PC and got all the parts from here. I ordered them online and picked them up in about an hour. Every single component was correctly selected and I was able to leave much faster than if I had gone aisle by aisle looking for the right product. I've exchanged two graphic cards here (wanted to upgrade after buying) and the process has been smooth. I especially like the fact that they carry most of the major manufacturers and well known computer brands such as Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, and Corsair. Their prices are most of the time even better than buying the components online. Lines can be long, but this is expected as this the only Micro Center in Houston. If you're into computers, hardware and technology in general, Micro Center is the right store for you. read more

Horrible service, including management! I bought a computer online and they gave me the wrong one. Went to the store a sales person said he was a manager and he directed me to a sales person to fix a video issue. Sales person takes me to a different sales person that after seeing my computer configuration gives me the wrong video car. I notice this after I got home. On my 3rd attempt to fix my problem I went back to the store. Asked for a manager same guy with a sakes associate name tag asked to help. Well he already tried. I ask for an other manager and he was about to send me to an other sales person. I just returned everything and going to Fry's. Where is the customer service????? I have been a customer of Microcenter for years. Since they opened, in fact. I am often there on the weekends getting gear for my teams and we all make it a point to shop locally vs Amazon or other vendors. I decided to buy a big ticket item for a team project, sent my partner to get it since I was down with influenza. Paid cash, got the receipt, on her way back. No issues or so I thought. We went to dinner and my team met up later to unpack and start working with the machine. The machine was slower than advertised and had the wrong OS. We looked at the serial number and it matched the box and the receipt/invoice manifest, however the system specifications were that of a 1800-2000$ machine not the near 5100$ machine we invested in. This was late in the evening so we called Microcenter and got their corporate coordinator. Explained the situation, she said that's impossible to get the wrong machine and it must be a problem with the manufacturer. Told me to talk to them. Nope. Partner went to Microcenter around 9pm in a rush to get it exchanged as we were on a deadline, or a refund if they did not have it in stock. She was met by several employees who verified that MicroCenter Houston indeed gave her the wrong machine. The manager, Jeff White whom I've dealt with in person on other big ticket items and purchases immediately implied that something was suspicious and suggested that we were trying to scam him by returning a 2k machine to get 5k cash back. My partner was absolutely upset and called me. I instructed her to show the receipt, purchase order, invoice, and instant pickup slip. She did and he still denied refunding. When she suggested looking at the surveillance cameras he rolled his eyes at her and disappeared for half an hour. Meanwhile she stood there not knowing what was happening. Finally after 40 minutes he approved the refund and cash was counted out multiple times. He gave her several wise remarks and had the audacity to suggest we come back Monday when the product is back in stock. I have advised my teams, clients, and colleague to avoid this store and specifically Jeff White. My advice to Jeff and Microcenter. Before you jump to ludicrous conclusions, act with kindness and actually listen. Don't simply dismiss someone because they look different. read more

I watched as multiple employees walked back and forth in front of a wall filled with orders that wasn't in any kind of order as far as I could tell. Unprofessional. Spent over $1000 for an uncomplicated build and was told it'd only take 24 hours to be put together (that's what their website says too!) Their only method of contact now is through text but they ignore you. I've been trying to get an update on a build and they can't even give that. I had to drive half an hour, during this pandemic just to get an update. Customers shouldn't have to be leaving their houses DURING A PANDEMIC just to get an update! We literally have COVID 19, the least they can do is prevent unnecessary in person interactions. The manager (Steven) literally responded with "well weren't you going to come up here anyways to pick it up?" The whole point is that I wouldn't have to make extra drives, if they just updated me, or the website to let customers know the status of their build. I get there, come to find out they haven't even started it and they absolutely do not care. They're not even certain it'll be done tomorrow lol. They've got good deals, crappy service tho. They had all of the new and best stuff. Do NOT Purchase Extended Warranties Here ! ! ! ! ! I purchase a Dell tablet in April, 2017 and paid extra for a three year, one day turn-around warranty. In July, the tablet would not boot (I ran all of Windows 10 boot repair options to make sure it wasn't a software problem). When I took it to the store, the repair took three days and they charged me $50 because they claimed there were no hardware problems. THE WARRANTY I PAID FOR WAS WORTHLESS. This is a great place. I recently purchased a custom built gaming PC as well as a CorsairK70 keyboard and new monitor. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. I was also able to call the staff near closing time for tech support on my new rig. They were very understanding and made sure my problem was fixed before hanging up. The prices of computer parts at Micro Center are also generally lower than that of other stores in the general area. I had a great experience and I will definitely be coming here again. read more

I enjoy shopping here. The people are always helpful. The only problem is the wait for checkout at times and getting into the new location is not as easy as the old one. I don't get to the new location as much because of the access. Also I liked the set up of the old store better with the exception of the help clinic in front of the new location. Took my old MacBook Pro that crashed for hard drive replacement and data recovery. Got a call the following day saying that they're not able to retrieve data and that they've tried 4 times. I picked up my computer the following day. After much research online and YouTube, I attempted to recover my data from my hard drive on my own. All I had to do was purchase the Sabrent Dock Bay (which I also bought from them by the way) to place the hard drive I took out of my laptop and I successfully recovered my data when I connected the dock bay to my new MacBook Pro. I think what they did was just open my laptop and place a sticker on the hard drive. They didn't even go the extra mile to dust off the inside of my laptop. Granted it's not their job but at least they could've shown they care if they were "not able" to recover the data. Just because the computer is old. Anyway, all is well that ends well. I saved $200. Only had to spend $40 for the dock bay and I got all my data on my own. So much for the so-called "experts." read more
