Laptop blew out the mother board. They're backed up on repairs for weeks but they were able to get me in form diagnostics and transferred data to a new laptop. Customer service was excellent! Having scheduled a request for a HP Laserjet printer repair and having it confirmed by the Micro Center in Houston, I was turned away saying that they don't repair printer, this after a 40 minute drive and queuing at the service desk for additional 40 minutes. I called ahead in October when I purchased my laptop and was told they had it. I arrived and was told, Ooops, made a mistake. Long story short, I did purchase a laptop, was not happy with the saleman, short staffed while waiting on the laptop to be prepared, waited longer than was told, talked to manager, might as well have saved my breathe! In the middle of this Covid 19 Pandemic, I sent my roommate/ friend to Microcenter in Houston to buy some memory for my computer as he knows more than I do about what I needed. I tried to pay with my card online so it could just be picked up and was not able to purchase online. AS I have an injured foot and can not walk without pain I sent him with my Microcenter card and Drivers License (which his has the same address as mine) was refused unless I was there personally. I REALIZE THERE ARE CERTAIN RULES BUT THIS ONE TAKES THE CAKE!!!!!!!!! either give me an option to purchase online or have him use my card with my permission so I do not have to risk more injury to myself. read more

I purchased an HP M402dn printer from the Houston store. When checking out I was price matching the printer from another store (Micro Center: $299.99 for Office Depot $219.99). My cashier Brian D. asked me if I was helped by another employee with the price match because it would have been a lot easier when I got to the register. I told him that I had not done that. We then realized that I had grabbed the wrong printer (452 instead of 402...they were right next to each other). The cashier Brian D. told me I can go grab the right one. When I asked if he could have someone bring the printer up to the front he told me everyone was busy. I do understand that the employees at your store are busy but Brian D. did not even ask. He just stood there, looked me in the eye and told me "They are all busy" without lifting a finger to find out. If this would have been a small object that I was trying to swap out I would not have been so angry but this was a large printer. I do believe in equal opportunities and that I am a strong woman but this printer was heavy...I could have used some help. I had also come from my office so I was not dressed for heavy lifting. I could have stood in line and ordered the item on my phone for "Internet Pick Up" to have it brought up to me if I had the time to spare. When I swapped the printers out I did notice that there were employees around that were not busy and most likely would have gladly assisted myself and Brian D. if he would have actually made the request. The only time I was asked for help during my shopping experience was when I was in the parking lot loading the printer and that was from another customer, not an employee. So unhappy! I've lost a ton of software and settings on my computer because the tech guy thought he needed to hard reset my entire computer. Yes I did backup, but you can't save everything. The camera was defective in the HP computer - I told him I suspected a known issue. He felt certain we needed a hard reboot. Then later tells me the repair tech in the back has seen tons of these, and it's new hardware that's required. The process for leaving your machine for repair is very long - 48 hours for diagnostic (which we did today, but it didn't "count") and then they have to keep it another 5 days for repair. It's too long. What are you supposed to do in the meantime? So it really makes the extended warranty useless to the working person relying on one computer. All I ask is that you create a system of known issues, so this could have been a walk-in 15 minute thing where you know what the problem is with my particular machine (because you've seen tons of these same computers come back with the issue), and you don't put me through hell because you really don't know what's going on. And shame on HP for selling defective products. I will not be coming back here or buying another HP product. read more

I am 70 years old and have been buying products from MicroCenter for over 15 years. I started in Westmont Illinois and on moving to Texas now go to the Houston store. I can't imagine going anywhere else for computer or tech needs. Representatives are the knowledgeable, helpful and simply the BEST! Sometimes there might be a little wait but it is worth the time. I have purchased a variety of Apple products and built a gaming computer for my grandson. The representative was great and gave suggestions that worked out well. Micro Center has for years been my computer store as Fry's is totally lacking in customer service. Phenomenal customer service from all the staff at the Knowledge Bar. Great attitude with customers experiencing difficulties with their computer needs. Kudos to Efren and the rest of the crew. Sales staff is hit or miss, but there are few who are exceptional. Again kudos to Dalinda Cruz. Manager Jeff White is the antithesis of the few quality staff members that make it very worthwhile for many customers to visit the store. Mr. White never smiles, is always unfriendly and does not address customers with a welcoming presence. The other evening I purchased a new desk top computer, yet Mr. White never introduced himself, nor thanked me for my purchase. However that same evening, Mr. White was overheard talking negatively about a few customers. Several other customers caught wind of this and were appalled. We all could not believe what had happened. Upon leaving the store that same evening at around 9:15pm (store closes at 9:00pm), a few employees standing near the registers and exit smiled and extended a "thank you" and "goodnight" to me as I pushed my cart of purchased items (new desk top computer) out the door. Yet, Mr. White was right there near the exit himself yet he made no eye contact, did not say thank you or goodnight. He just stood there with a most unfriendly frown. Wow. A manager is suppose to lead by example, yet Mr. White sets a horrible example. It's a shame that Mr. White dislikes customers so much, that he can't even make half of an effort. Mr. White, what does it say about you, that basic employees of the store are able to greet and welcome customers with a smile, as well as say thank you and good night yet you can't? Mr. White, how dare you talk behind customers' backs? Are customers not the reason for your employment? A note to Micro Center: As long as Mr. White is manager, the store will not receive any more business from me. I will be returning all purchases made within the last 30 days (30 days being the return policy). Mr. White does not deserve any credit as a manager for my purchases. . Local big box stores or Fry's will not replace Micro Center, as Micro Center was my ONLY computer store choice. I will now have to try to purchase online. Inconvenient yes, but no other choice. Past the point of redemption - time for people to look past the big Westpark tollway facade. Summary: Microcenter does not offer a safe environment for consumer experience. You owe consumers and patrons that, at a minimum. You are a business. Consumers pay a premium for a service - you are not entitled to treat your consumers as 2nd class; there are other options out there. I will prefer to wait in the mail, pay lower prices, or use other local resources like Fry's any day. For the past several years, i've been able to get my tech fix, investing tens of thousands of dollars while procuring from Microcenter in both their old Houston, online, and new Houston locations. Firstly, as a consumer - you should be aware that they do not provide security for your vehicle, nor provide surveillance for the parking lot. I was the victim of significant loss recently (for the record, nothing was showing - I follow the lock it/hide it principles). Not only did the store manager display less than professional mannerisms; when calling their corporate office to provide feedback - each were less than appreciative of my input. Look Microcenter - get in the game. The voice of the customer is your market feedback - you're sinking to new lows. Go ahead and tabulate all the happy 5-star customers who use you for iPhone cables and covers - those really vested in tech and innovation should be weary of your approach in satisfying long-term value for your patrons. In my opinion, tech patrons have to be the most loyal and mutually beneficial clients you can have. Secondly - customer service is lacking in quality. There are nice folks in the store - but only a handful which are knowledgeable. Here are some nuggets of experience for you to consider: - Go into the store and browse, get two-dozen salespeople clinging to your back bugging you. Go into the store with intention of buying something or in need of technical advice, get no one. - Management - you suck. Not only at managing the customer interface, but your principles in hiring talent and technically sufficient people. I'm not a know-it all, but I shouldn't have better working knowledge than some of the area sales associates - We get it, having things on the shelves is important - but when your customers are in the aisle and reading or comparing items - that is not time to have your stockperson step in front of you to restock. C'mon, it is rude - Etiquette is important - hygiene as well. Shirts with food, un-tucked and cluttered appearance doesn't help push your products. I get the fact we're all a little geeky - but again, look toward improving the quality of your consumer interface. - Related to etiquette: your floor people should monitor what they talk about and when they do it. Inappropriate, rude, and disgusting conversations really need to be saved for off-the clock with buddies. You're in for a rude awakening if this isn't put into some sort of manageable context. - Product offering quality decreases. Cheap, low-quality substitute products are marked up, and anyone with access to the net can confirm this. I get it the business aspect of it - but if clients are willing to go the extra mile to pay a premium; then the transaction should be a two way street - Build your PC still remains strong and consistent. Networking, printers, and monitor sections has consistently failed basic litmus tests of knowing their products. Again - I have a couple of years of experience buying in store. The above instances aren't one-time only things; however - my loss with theft in the parking lot put me over the edge. I'm not angered anymore, i've waited a few weeks to craft this without emotional connotation; the above is fact - whether or not you choose to acknowledge the data points or not. I will seek out to ensure your market share dwindles; locally - if not to a larger context. read more

I would give it 5 stars, but I have been twice and finding help is impossible. They need to hire some more people. Not only is it hard to find anyone to help, the lines at checkout are long as hell. I have waited for quite a while (15+ minutes) both times. They have great products, but I have also had trouble finding products both times. They have tons of stuff on display. I bought my 27" Apple iMac from this Micro Center and I am very pleased with my purchase. Not only was it less than the Apple Store's price, I got way more bells and whistles. That particular day they had a promo to get a printer for $30 with any computer purchase..um yes please. But about my experience...So I knew that I wanted to buy an Apple computer, I had researched them all but still wasn't sure which one I wanted. I was greeted by Joseph in the Apple section who talked me through the pros and cons of each. I decided on the iMac because it was HUGE (I like big things) and because I had only taken my laptop out of the house 4 times in the last 4 years that I owned it. Very Disappointed!!!. My fiancé and I just finished working out so we were in our workout clothes and were looking for tablets to purchase for our niece and nephew. Once we stepped in the store I noticed the manager point to us and tell one of the workers to follow us instead of asking us if we needed help! As the worker approached us we asked if the tablet we were looking at was in stock and he went to a computer( didn't type anything) and said no. First time I visited the Micro center to check new Dell products was pretty successful, and I walked out with a new laptop and few more gadgets completely satisfied. After two weeks of using, it happened to be that the computer was asking for verification code for Windows as for Windows was about to expire. The next day I showed up at Microcenter and spent one hour and a half at a customer service trying to fix the problem. The guys who was helping me out was pretty pleasant but did not seem very knowledgeable, and in the end of going back and forth told me that it was Dell's bug and I will have to pay for reinstallation of Windows, which I was completely fine with as for it is clearly said in the warranty, that Microcenter is not responsible for software bugs. The gentlemen who was helping me out had to go on a lunch break, and afterwards it was complete hell. The second tech guy was arrogant, plainly rude and completely unprofessional. I wish I remembered his name, as for I was completely shocked with his attitude, and hus reactions to all my questions as for I was completely dumb foreigner without knowing a thing about electronics. I got upset and left to the nearest Best Buy to get the proper service. My aunt tried to call in to get the chance to talk to the manager who was rude with her as well and hang up on her after answering the questions without waiting for her to respond. Worst experience ever! Took my computer in for diagnosis and repair. Long story short...they basically destroyed my computer and gave it back to me completely empty. Literally! All of my programs...everything GONE!!! Even parts missing!!!! Although they admitted their "stupid mistake" (the manager's very own words, not mine) I'm still the one with a computer that no longer works and a ton of editing work GONE and all of my programs...GONE! They gave me back worse than a blank computer! I had all my photos and most work backed up already but it's all useless to me now when it's a computer that simply can't do ANYTHING! CANT EVEN OPEN THE BACK UP THEY DID FOR ME! It can not even identify my phone to import photos. USELESS!!! This whole destruction process,that they swore up and down they would fix for me, took a month! The manager gave me false hope when he "owned" the mistake and said they would make it right. They didn't. They called and said it was "ready" and never once discussed it with me again. I'm guessing they knew they couldn't fix it and therefore, hoped I would just pick it up and leave. I feel that the least I can do is warn others! GO ANYWHERE BUT HERE!!!!!! Oh and yes...they still charged me from when I originally dropped it off. They should have at least given me my money back. My laptop was overdue for a change so I came in here to get a new one. Jonathan was the apple representative and when we got there, he was prompt in attending to us and was really knowledgeable on all things Apple. I ended up getting a MacBook more expensive than I had planned but since I found it cheaper on the Best Buy website, they matched the price. When I decided on the laptop I wanted, he took it up to the register and handed me a slip to show at the register. There were quite a number of people there that required his attention and he was great at multitasking. Overall, my experience was okay. I wish it was much cooler inside. It seemed like their air had issues. One more very important thing to note, we noticed that a car in the parking lot had a broken window (see picture. It was so so sad). So if you must park outside, make sure you have no valuables in sight. That really really creeped us out since we had another laptop in the car. read more

I made an initial purchase for my ten year old on September 20, a notebook for school homework; bottom line , it was a lemon! It worked for approximately 20 days and then needed a new hard drive; no problem , right? Nope, it still had issues... I purchased a extra warranty , as well; spillage etc... What I didn't pay attention too, was the fifteen day return policy.... Well, I was stressed walking into Micro Center, my son's lessons were behind and I no longer deal with Best Buy because of their fourteen day return policy... Anyhow, I was walking around looking at alternate purchases with the lemon in hand and was approach kindly ; I explained I purchased a lemon. Three highly intelligent men gave me the best customer service! Worst store ever. Paid for a $200 3 year warranty for my 4K smart tv. There's no buttons on the tv and the remote broke, so the tv is unusable and it's not covered under the warranty. I wish i could dice this review to limit it strictly to the knowledge base or whatever they are called that repairs machines. So i have a lenovo i bought and it has been crashing on me all day. I knew what it was but i wanted to make sure it wasn't something else. So as soon as i got off work i took my laptop in as the laptop is fairly new and it shouldn't be crashing. These guys are my certified repair guys according to the lenovo site. So i get there and i sign in and i am sitting at the bar waiting on my name to be called next and whip my laptop out on the counter. To pass time i started thumbing through the sales ad when the alarm went off "danger danger". The guy next to me was asking one of the knowledge experts if he needed malware protection as well. He told him "it's up to you". Then the customer asked "what is the difference between malware and virus" he tells him "well both of these things you dont want on your computer cause they are bad" i was like holy crap. Now i work in Data and while not quite IT so to hear this i am kinda taken aback. The customer then asks him again and this time the guy that customers are supposed to leave their computers with goes and googles the difference between malware and a virus. As he is reading his generic definitions i slowly slid my laptop into my bag and walked the heck outta there. Immediately called my wife and asked wtf was i thinking considering leaving my laptop with these ppl? I almost made a huge mistake. And i knew what my issue was and was able to fix it in 20 mins when i got back. Yes i am ashamed of myself for going up there to begin with and if my boss reads this he will laugh then fire me. But at least ill have a working machine to use to find a new job. Which is more than what i can say about you if you leave your pc with these guys. This story actually starts in a Best Buy. I went into the Best Buy on Richmond and 610 earlier this evening to buy a printer. When I walked through the door, the greeter was talking to another employee, both of which ignored me. When the person they pay to greet you doesn't great you, it ain't looking good!! I saw at least 10 employees in blue shirts eagerly doing nothing and offering no assistance so I found the printers, did research on my phone, and picked an item. I then made my way to the registers where 1 person was checking people out. There was a family at the counter, another couple then me. After listening to the family have to answer 20 questions in order to buy their 1 item, they couple got up to the register. They had an online purchase that now required a manager to come and assist. After 10 minutes in a line of 2, I set my printer on the counter and told them to please go out of business and save everyone time to which the manager looked at me in total horror. I then drove 2 blocks to Micro Center. I was asked immediately what I was looking for and directed to where I could find it. They didn't waste money on a false greeter that don't greet to fool customers into thinking they care.....LOL!!!! I found the same printer, 20% CHEAPER, it was on of their HOT OFFERS!! I took the printer to the front, where 6 registers were open to handle all the customers they had checking out. Even the store manager was checking people out to keep the line moving smoothly which it did. I bet the Best Buy Store Manager hasn't set foot out of his office in years, might have to talk to a customer!!!!! Micro Center has totally eliminated all the BS they used to do at the POS. They even had a completely separate area for internet purchases to as not to screw up the normal checkout process. Micro Center has come a long way! Winbooks giving one the impression that this product was returned quite frequently.
