I brought it in today for a repair but I asked to speak to a manager shared with Nick what was going on and he was happy to do an exchange for me. Honestly I was expecting to be told there's nothing we can do but they went above and beyond to make sure I got a new computer that I'm very happy with the full exchange and with smiles on their faces. I was having a problem charging my MacBook. I went to the service center and there wasn't anyone working at the Apple desk (it was right after the store opened). So I went to the Apple sales department. A sales person named Laura helped me troubleshoot, even though she isn't the one who sold us the computer. We discovered the problem was the adapter, and she helped me switch it out with a new one at the checkout. I overheard a manager mention something ominous about paperwork that would need to be done about the exchange by the service department, but I was in and out in just a few minutes and didn't need to worry with anything else. I really appreciate Laura and management team going out of their way to give great customer service when it wasn't necessarily their normal protocol (rather than making me wait for the service station to open up, which is what I had feared would happen). read more

I realize that it is Black Friday weekend, but online order pick up window was a disgrace and a joke. Got into a line of three people to pick up an online order; the guy behind the counter was well-meaning, but evidently could not find his nose even if he used a mirror! After searching for an item for five minutes, the lady waiting peeked over the counter and found her item herself lost in a wash of last-name-labeled items behind the counter! The next guy waited so long for the guy to find his item, he eventually went into the store to look for the **#% item himself! (They use your last name and the type of item you have reserved to find what you reserved, but for some reason the reservation number you're emailed is useless!) So the guy in front of me left to find his own item, then it was my turn. I gave my last name and the type of item I reserved and the search began. The guy couldn't find mine after 5-8 min mulling around in back (um, HOW HARD IS IT to find?? The #%? alphabet is a great organization tool...!), but he instead eventually found the guy who was in front of me's item! But the guy wasn't back yet! So this dude told me to wait (!) until the guy returned (!!) and then he would ring up him, then try to find my item again! (?!?!?!!) I left!!! read more

Driving 20 minutes with a PC tower and being charged $40 only to find out that my RAM wasn't pushed in all the way is already enough to make me feel stupid. So what I absolutely didn't need was for the guy at the knowledge bar to be super judgmental and snappy at me for it. Look, I work in customer service. I know what it's like to deal with a stupid customer. I also know exactly how not to deal with them. This was not that. If you work in tech support, you should be prepared to deal with people who don't know what they're doing, because that's literally in the job description! I've been a loyal customer of Microcenter since it opened. It had been recommended to me by someone who is a professional tech expert. I've spent my career in customer service thus I know excellent service when I see it. I'm continually impressed with their entire staff and the tech reps in their "knowledge bar" above all..... not only for their expertise but for their customer service skills and patience. They listen, don't rush, are empathetic and ask the right questions to determine the issue and best solution. So this is a business that specializes in selling technology, great selection, good prices. However, this technology company doesn't invest in technology for their customers. They only have one handicapped motorized shopping cart, just one. Does anyone see the irony in this? So if you can't walk or stand for any length of time, you are screwed. A store this size with this emence customer load should have at least 5 carts. If they cared for their customers they would have more than a single cart. I like this place normally. Its location is strange, for sure. However, I arrived 40 minutes before closing and had to wait in a line around the building in the direct hot sunlight. The line didn't move at all because they would wait until the entire store emptied out before letting the next group in instead of having someone at the door let people in as others left. So now, after waiting 40 minutes, they finally they let people in the line in, but the manager comes out and stops everyone starting with me and says they're done for the day. But he says you can wait 3 minutes and they might let us in. So we wait 15 more minutes, people constantly leaving, but again no employee to let us in as people leave. Manager comes out and tells us to go home. An entire hour wasted waiting in the hot sun, after driving an hour to get here. How hard is it to put someone at the door? Too many Karen types probably scared them into doing this. read more

I went in to buy a laptop that I saw online. After waiting a few minutes to be helped, I went looking for help. A kid was standing at their computer trying to look busy when I started to approach him, so I turned to two employees standing in an aisle chatting. As soon as I told them what I was looking for, one in a damn blazer looking like a bellhop hurriedly walked off while the other one pointed to the kid at the computer and said "he can help you." This clearly annoyed the kid at the computer who's name was Jamail, wasn't looking to do any work either. I told him I knew what I wanted, and he was very condescending in his attitude, telling me he had to see if they had it in stock (I already knew they did), and then he had the nerve to say to me as he was printing off a pice of paper showing the item "you probably don't need any software help or extended coverage for this since you're an expert, right?" Like who the hell does this kid think he is? Anyway , he told me to go stand on the checkout line, handed me the paper and walked off. What a clown! I had the cashier pull his sticker off the laptop box, because he didn't deserve any commission. I'd have let the cashier get credit for the sale if I could, at least he was polite. I've been doing business with Micro Center for over 20 years, so I am well aware of the demeanor of the typical employee they hire in their stores, but this visit was on a whole other level of failure. I purchased a monitor for $350 before tax and the next day saw it on amazon for for $100 cheaper. I called to price match and they refused, telling me it has to be done before purchase then later said it was actually cheaper at their store than amazon, then another person says they can't do it because the difference is to large. So I drove across town to return it and when I get there they tell me i have 30 days to price match and all of a sudden are willing to do it. NO THANKS! I suggest just buy your products of Amazon. After leaving Best Buy and having the worst experience ever. A local guy told me to try Micro Center. It was refreshing to actually be greeted asked if I needed help and then was actually given the merchandise that was looked for. No one pointed and said go over there. I have purchased from this store many times over the years and have had good experience until today. I ordered a new item online for store pickup. I made the drive through Houston traffic stood in line to get in the store picked up my item and drove home. Opened the sack when I got home. The item was in an box that had obviously been opened (I ordered new) and did not have the main component (raspberry Pi). So now I have to go back to the store in Hou traffic, stand in the COVID line, stand in return line and drive home. Don't trust this store, check the contents they give you because they apparently don't. read more

Three years later I'm going to update my review, I would still highly not recommend the knowledge department/repair service area. However, whenever I going to this location because I've given it a second and third chance, the associates on the floor are always attentive and willing to answer the most inane and repetitive questions. For me who knows nothing about electronics, I look upon this place as knowledge central, since you can't ask the Internet so many specific questions in the exact language you choose. One star for the repair/service center. Five stars for the rest of the store. Original review: You can stop after the first line of this review: take your business elsewhere. There's always someone new to take advantage of so why bother to try and make your existing customers happy. On advice from Apple I brought a 27 inch iMac into this location to have a problem addressed, within weeks of taking it home the first time I returned with the same problem. A new diagnosis by another technician and A new set of solutions. Again two months later the problems occurred again so I returned this Micro Center location on South Rice only to be told that the warranty work was not going to be covering that it was yet another problem. I spoke to a manager on each occasion, and on my final visit today I spoke to the service manager. Each time I was greeted with what could only be described as an attitude problem and a customer service philosophy based on the concept "it's your problem not mine". Hundreds of dollars later I have parts installed that I didn't need, multiple visits and time wasted. It's time to buy a new iMac after all of this, and I absolutely will not be shopping at Micro Center. The service manager with the less than basic understanding of customer service concepts is James Halbirt. George Alvarado, it's your location, if you choose to employ technicians who can't diagnose the issues and won't stand behind work that they do, and so called customer service managers who don't understand the very concept of that thing, it's no wonder your store is failing. Good luck limping through yet another crippled season while Amazon eats your profits and you run away more customers. Extremely disappointed with my experience. In earlier December of 2021, I brought in my in-warranty laptop to be repaired. Micro Center made the necessary repairs and got it back to me. A week later, I started having the same issues. No worries: A simple restart was all it took to remedy the issues. The following week, the issues happened again, which led to me having to update some of the drivers and update non-critical software. The issue kept on popping up over the subsequent weeks, and I was able to resolve the issue by using the troubleshooting issues above. Last week, the issue appeared again, and that time, I just had to wait for the issue to resolve itself. Today, however, the issue appeared YET AGAIN, and now, I cannot resolve it at all. I took my laptop for the second time over to Micro Center. They told me that they would have to make the same exact repair previously made, and that since my laptop's warranty had expired since the original repair, they wouldn't warranty their repair work. Instead, my only option was to pay $450 plus tax to replace the top case, which was the exact same repair made not even two months ago. This is your spot then, Micro Center recently moved and this is their new location and they are still stocking, organizing, and implementing all sorts of products, booths, bars, etc! A PC Repair bar minus the alcohol but still... it's the coolest looking PC Repair place I ever have seen. They have isles of everything.. I mean besides amazon having page after page of CPU coolers, this place has an entire isle of CPU coolers, that should tell you enough. Alienware section, Dell section, Apple section, and a cool booth to find the latest processors, SSD's, mobos, memory, water cooling, fans, LEDS, Power supplies, etc! I spent about 3 hours there today and let me tell you I love it! It's about on par with frys minus the tid bids of hardcore hardcore wires and nuts but I think it'll be there once everything is fully stocked. These are the worst customer service oriented associates I have ever seen. I ordered two PCs to be built. His and hers for my wife's birthday. It was after hours so I assumed it would be built by morning. That is my fault entirely. No one told me that. I drove to the Houston store because I had an appointment at the knowledge bar to pick my PCs up. Isiah says one isn't ready and the other hasn't even been picked. That's fine. As I said,I went up there preemptively.He let me know that since I ordered my PC at 9 the previous night it would be built LAST in the queue. His exact words. It would be done at 6. They close at 6! It says on the website if I order within 4 hours of closing it could be built the same day. How does that math work? Wouldn't I be at the front of the line for PCs commissioned today? I ask if I can just take my components and build it myself. Instead of taking care of me there he pawns me off on "Internet pick ups". He does a horrible job of explaining what's going on apparently because now this heavy set woman behind the counter who cannot pay attention to what she's doing to save her life starts ringing up items. She gets to the motherboards and say"these are one per household". Again I didn't see where it said one per order but also it was fine when Microcenter was going to build the PC. You let me purchase them before. Now it's an issue. The heavy set lady calls for a cashier lead. The lead doesn't speak to us at all. Goes out of her way to speak to everyone in line. Stands in front of my wife and I and doesn't say a word. Just looks at the screen and speak with the internet pickup women. She calls the front end manager over and he is immediately accusatory. Super smug in short he it says one per household sir but I'll let you do it this time. Then implies that I didn't speak with Isiah. If you all got on the same page before speaking to customers to PROVIDE THEM GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE you wouldn't have this issue. I want to cancel it all now. I will not be spoken to like I'm trying to get over on people. That is not how you speak to customers. I ask for another manager. He brings over Josh ,along with some people who are very obviously secret shoppers. How many micro center employees does it take to understand how and ISPU system works? They said there's no way to cancel it in the store. As a store manager for a different company this was incredibly frustrating to watch multiple employees not have a light bulb go off in their head saying,"confirm the pick up,return at the register" that is basic. Josh was cool no complaints. Regular deescalating manger talk that I use myself. After it's all said and done I want to leave with my stuff again because now my wife knows about her surprise. Guess what I have to pay for it AGAIN. But this time there's no assembly or warranty attached. The original charge is supposed to drop off within 3-5 days. But now I have 3 holds on my account for thousands of dollars. Micro center employees treat people like they're a nuisance. Buy your items from smaller stores that appreciate your business.There's probably going to be a small customer template response from Microcenter under this. That will not suffice. Called saying I needed my computer looked at. They said yeah sure come in. I signed up online and was ready to leave it there. When I got there I saw the sign that said it would take about 24-48 hours to look at it -- something that is not mentioned on the website nor on the live chat I had before I signed up. I got up to the window and the tech said that it may take up to a month to get my PC back. Who can live without their computer for a month and why didn't they give this heads up before I spent two hours of my time online, packing my computer up, waiting in the covid line outside, and waiting in the pc repair line. read more

It was easy, big sign for pick up when you walk in. I was finished in under five minutes. They do not recycle computer batteries though they said best buy does it. Driving into parking lot might be tough at the first entrance by pollo loco. You can go to next entrance by Wal-Mart. Once you take a left into parking lot, take another left pass by the hotel. It will lead you straight to Microcenter. On the way out from the pickup lane, there is small opening to exit. This route will help you avoid going through the winding line to pay. Unless you want to get a few more steps to stay fit. read more

I bought a new Dell computer here on 3/27/2022. I was helped by Robert Segovia. He did a flawless and outstanding job getting me what I needed fast. I got a good price, and after trying to buy Dell products online I'm glad I came in. Dell products now have a waiting period - be prepared for that. I've spent thousands on computers. This is the first place to go, especially when they have sales. Overall Mr. Segovia got me in and out with no wasted time. He answered every question I had. I came in here today to purchase a printer - I price shopped this on Amazon and Amazon had the lower price by $50, but Micro Center will price match if you can prove it, so I went into Micro Center to (a) keep the sale local, and (b) I wanted it now. It took a while to be waited on, as the one associate on my aisle was pretty engrossed in his cell phone, and the 4-5 other associates in the area were busy chatting with each other. After confirming if they would price match Amazon, he disappeared for a few minutes and returned with a manager saying Amazon was $200 higher although I had it on my phone with the lower price. While I am certain they were able to find a higher-priced same model printer on Amazon, long story short they didn't get the sale. I went back home, confirmed the price online was $50 lower, and ordered it there. Micro Center used to be great in their product selection and service, and now they are just "good" as they serve as a place to look at things before ordering it online. If they would have truly price matched, Micro Center would have had the sale. I will wait an extra two days for Amazon to deliver it in order to save $50. read more

Never ever buy the extended warranty. I brought my laptop in and was told the the extended warranty runs at the same time as the 1 year manufacturer warranty so you pay for what you think is an additional two years , which I believed to be a total of 3 years Just to find out that I only have two years total. Having never need to a micro center before I wasn't sure what to expect. I assumed a "frys"-ish experience. And my assumption was right! Except a few differences which make this a much better place for me! A) no appliances. Which is superb. I hate how large frys is and hate feeling almost lost in there. This place has every isle clearly marked. B) checkout is much easier. Feels more personal then they bay of registers at frys. C) selection. They don't have as much as frys, but who cares. They have plenty of what you could ever want for you. If you need it in a pinch, they have it. Now as far as price goes, they are fairly competitive and if you can haggle them they will price match. But if you don't need it right away, newegg is a better option because, as of right now, you don't pay sales tax. And if you're buying multiple computer parts tax can get up there real fast. But like I said if you need something and need it ASAP, this place has it. I will be back to shop again. read more

I bailed once I found out that diagnostics are not free of charge and I'd need to pay to diagnose the issue and there was no guarantee that they're able to diagnose the issue. read more

I drive to this place all the way from Katy for an advertised special on a television. Get it home and the damn thing is broken! I return it to the store and of course they have no more in stock. Associate after associate keeps coming up to me apologizing and promising to bring back a manager. Of course he never shows up which is a clear indicator that he doesn't give a shit about my wasted time energy and money. Unacceptable! After 30 minutes I give up trying to find a replacement and just get a refund. Something tells me their return policy is the best thing about this place. I'm sure they've had a lot of practice. The people here were incredibly helpful! I went with my boyfriend a few weeks back and it was so funny they noticed I had no idea what they were talking about with my boyfriend. They took the time to explain everything to me and it was nice because I was able to understand what was going on. They were the 2 gentlemen in the Apple department.
