Outstanding Service from the Tech Support Dream Team I've been a loyal Micro Center customer for over 25 years, and that's almost entirely thanks to Rob Brown in the Tech Support Department. Rob is simply the best--knowledgeable, patient, and reliable. He's been my go-to person for a quarter century, and there's a reason I keep coming back: he knows his stuff and genuinely cares about solving problems. Francis Cioffi, who was Rob's manager for many years, has also been incredibly helpful throughout the years. Both Rob and Francis have an encyclopedic knowledge of products and always take the time to find the right solution. This past Sunday really showcased what makes this team exceptional. I brought a friend in who was having issues with her two-month-old Acer Aspire. David Merritt was able to push through a replacement and arrange for the hard drive transfer. Francis made sure the hard drive got to tech support quickly so we wouldn't have to make multiple trips. Then Rob worked through the hard drive replacement and did extensive troubleshooting--nothing about this repair was straightforward, but he stuck with it until everything was working properly. The level of expertise, dedication, and customer care from Rob, Francis, and David is why the St. Davids Micro Center stands out. Last week, I brought my MacBook Air in for a screen replacement. I scheduled a free consultation through their website, and when I arrived, my name was already listed on their service screen as waitlisted. The wait was short, and the staff member who checked me in was incredibly kind and patient. I'll admit--I went in expecting the stereotypical grumpy tech experience, but that couldn't have been further from the truth. Even an older couple ahead of me was treated with care and patience as they asked questions about setting up their new device. It was genuinely impressive. After taking in my laptop, they let me know they'd need to order parts from Apple before proceeding. Since parts only ship on weekdays, they offered to keep me updated via my preferred method--text--which I really appreciated. Throughout the week, their communication was prompt and clear. I was notified as soon as the parts arrived and when new issues came up. That's how I learned that, in addition to my cracked screen, my battery also needed replacement. Via text, I was quoted around $426 for both repairs, which I agreed to, assuming it reflected the total cost for parts and labor. However, when I picked up my laptop yesterday, the final bill came out to over $800. The original ~$426 quote didn't seem to correspond to any of the line items on the receipt. Had I known the total would be nearly double, I likely wouldn't have moved forward with the repair. All that said, I truly appreciated the professionalism and attentiveness of the staff. I just wish the pricing had been more transparent and consistent. Here's hoping my now very expensive (and not-so-new) laptop lasts another 10 years to make it all feel worth it. read more

As a proud geek I consider Microcenter to be Mecca. Anything you could possibly imagine technologically they are your source. If you are building a gaming system or are simply in need of some unique patch cable that you need will have it. Their Associates are extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The store is very well laid out and they always maintain a good amount of stock. The st. Davids location is easily accessible from the blue route,495. They also have locations in Brookland and down in Maryland that I have visited and we're also quite impressive. This particular store in St Davids though I feel is the biggest and the best. I have made several purchases from here over the years and I've never been disappointed. Highly recommend. read more

Had a mixed experience. Spent $3000 across two visits in a week a half. My first visit I just stopped in to grab a great deal on RAM they had. Staff was helpful, prices were great, and inventory was plentiful. My second visit a week later was to finish picking up the last parts I needed for a build and to have their service department build my PC. I was greeted at the door and asked if I needed help. I went with an associate and explained what I needed to complete my build. I already had the parts listed the associate took the list and said they would go around and grab them all and bring them to the counter for me. The parts I needed were 5080 GPU, AIO, Strimers (CPU, Mobo, GPU), Fans (Lian Li LCD for side and back, and regular unit and for the bottom), PSU, and some other items. At this point everything seemed like it was going great. The employee said he would grab everything and it would be ready for me at the service desk. When I got to the desk it was all behind the counter and the service center guy rang everything up...... it came out to about $50 more than I expected (I had everything in my cart online) but I just chalked it up to me not doing the correct math on the taxes. They told me since it was 11AM it should be done before end of day. The next day I'm literally in my car getting ready to head to the store at 6PM when I get a text telling me it won't be ready that day. Expect it to be done by EOD the following day. Luckily I had off the next day so not a huge deal. Around 5:30PM I the next day I get the message that it's complete. I live about an hour and a half away so I get to the store at around 8PM. They give me the PC in its case box for safe moving it and they give me a bunch of bags with all the parts and miscellaneous unused pieces from the parts boxes thrown in. I notice the first issue as soon as I get home. I started unpacking all the bags so I can store the parts boxes in case there are any issues and I find the GPU Strimer that was supposed to be installed completely unopened. I was never notified by call or text that there was an issue or reason it couldn't be installed or told at the store it wasn't used........ if I had been told I could have returned it while I was there. And used that money to pick up something else I could use for my PC. Then I unpacked the PC and instantly upon turning it on I found why the cost was $50 more than I was expecting. Even though I had specifically stated I wanted non LCD fans for the bottom of my PC since you wouldn't see them below the GPU anyway they had picked out all LCD fans for the entire build........ it won't effect my functionality and doesn't hurt my build, it's just an unnecessary waste of $50 on a build that cost me around 5K to complete. So I ended up having the wrong part installed that cost $50 more than the intended part I wanted. And I have a $60 strimer that I wasn't told that they did not install that I either have to take a 2 1/2 - 3 hour round trip to return or just eat a $60 loss. I am planning on building another PC in February. After this experience I won't be using them for the build, but I may make the trip there to pick out parts. read more

Poor Service, bad communication. Our laptop was at the store for a month and they never managed to get the part or do anything to fix it. We are having to retrieve the laptop and go to another store. I will never go to a Micro Center again. They need to do some serious work to get this place going. Do not go here. read more

Dropped my PC off and got talked into their diagnostic service. Two days later it was starting diagnostics, and on Wednesday I got a call CPU was gone, so I switched brands, got a new motherboard, new Ram, new CPU, went in after work on Wednesday and dropped a lot for some of the best available. Texted the next day asking how it was going. Your machine is in our repair queue. Your device will be worked on based on the date it was checked in to our shop. Once we begin work on your device, we will update you. Then a follow up text *in order of the date is was checked in to our shop. It is now Tuesday right after memorial day and I have heard nothing. I was told on the phone in November that I could get a replacement for my 2020 macbookpro using an after market battery because it was over five years old and considered a 'legacy' computer. I bought the battery and brought it in today only to be told that they couldn't do it. First they said because it was still possible to buy an Apple battery so they wouldn't do an after market. Then, they checked the serial number and said this type of computer can only have the battery changed out by mailing it away to Apple because of changes to how they make the macbookPros now- even their Apple guy couldn't do it. And it would cost close to $300. I called a place four miniutes away, ubreakifix in Wayne, and they were able to do it in an hour for a fraction of the cost. No problems, no arguments. And I'm typing on it now, so no problems with my computer, just a nice new battery. read more

We are blessed to live 2 miles from Micro Center in St. David's, PA. We visit often when we have problems with our laptops and have found the technicians to be knowledgeable, courteous and very helpful. Today Isaac was our hero! He solved our difficult problem quickly and had a pleasant attitude. Although he was the only employee at the service desk, he answered the phone, interacted with customers and was able to be calm and patient while multi-tasking. We feel very fortunate to have been "served" by Isaac and commend him as an employee. Micro Center is our "go to" place and Isaac is an outstanding example of a hard-working, dedicated employee. Do you or have you ever taken advantage of the 5% discount you receive from Microcenter for using thier credit card? Have you ever looked over your receipt and done the math? Microcenter is ripping you off. You make a purchase and they take off the 5% but then they go back and charge you sales tax on the original price before the 5%. Sales tax can only be collected on the money you spend they are stealing and pocketing millions from customers. For instance, this sale was for $2729.94 + $163.80 Tax for a total sale of $2893.74. Take the Subtotal and subtract 5% $136.50 and the new subtotal should be $2593.44 + 6% Tax $155.61 = $2749.05. But they go back and charge the tax on the original subtotal before the 5% discount charging me the $163.80 instead of the $155.61 hence overcharging me $8.19 on this sale. They have been doing this for years ripping people off. This is the second purchase this week where the first on is an overcharge of $7.91. It might seem like small amounts but over the years of my purchases they owe me over $200 and millions to customers. read more

I've known of Microcenter in St. Davids Square for years, but it took over a decade for me to visit. I've known people to work there. I've known people to shop there. But it took my charger USB cable to get me there. What do I mean? Well, my charger stopped working after a couple months. I learned that Microcenter had exactly what I needed, which saved me a trip to Best Buy out in Plymouth meeting. Talk about a win! I made the visit, had very helpful customer service, and got exactly what I needed. Now my phone is charged. Customer service was knowledgeable, and things were relatively easy to find. Granted, I did have help finding them because I couldn't at first. And check out their grocery carts. I haven't seen grocery carts like that since the 1990s! Dropped off my computer for a diagnosis. Took 48hr to tell me the video card needed a more powerful power supply. Computer sat there and didn't get touched for 2 weeks. Got the computer and bought the new psu and did it myself. Plot twist. It wasn't the power supply. The video card was dead. Wasted nearly 3 weeks and a few hundred dollars via an incorrect diagnosis. I normally would not leave a bad review. The employees are fabulous. However, the management is not. I have given this Micro Center in St. David's more than 5 chances to help change my mind about my experience. The follow through is not there. If there's a problem, you are SOL. This makes me really sad, especially because the employees make commission and as a result of the management, the employees are losing money. I was so excited and bought a 3-D printer, it was having problems and I returned it for a new one. The store was gonna put it together for me because it took me so long to assemble the first one. w When I got home, it wouldn't even turn on. there's no phone number to get a hold of the store. I brought back and the manager on the floor, that day, told me I was lucky for what I already got. I had two nonworking 3-D printers, 4 trips back-and-forth to the store and then spoken to in an abusive manner by the store manager, David . Here, they did not finish putting the 3-D printer together before giving it to me and I didn't know it. they were really busy that day however, someone keeps dropping the ball. Because of the way I was talked to by the store manager, I made my decision to return my entire purchases. Well over a thousand dollars. He could not care less. Hi I'm the girl who got the Power spec G525 Gaming pc yesterday. I wanted to write a review to thank you all. The nice man helped me find the pc i was looking for and a good monitor to go with it. He helped explain everything about it to me and my mom and how to set it up. I got it set up easily with my older sister last night and I love it. I was really nervous to go to the store because I had drove for an hour and I'm unfamiliar with computers besides what my friend and bf had told me, but the experience was great, and everyone was very kind. Our old faithful Asus was warning us she was about done each time we powered her up - so before eminent doom of all my files, photos and scans. We took a trip to Micro Center to find her replacement. The store is big, well lit and clean. Plenty of salespeople to help assist with your needs. We found her upgrade a new and faster Asus and purchased an external hard drive to transfer everything over and not load up the new machine. Our salesperson was helpful and the store had everything needed to set up our new system. The manager even came over to personally thank us for our purchase which was an unnecessary but appreciated gesture. Decent prices and large selection of items to choose from. Would highly recommend when needing just about anything computer related. read more

Don't believe I haven't reviewed this place! Probably didn't want others to know how great it is but the word seems to be out now. I've been going here for decades. It may be the only one in PA and I'm lucky to have it so close to home! What a geek eh? When I used to build my own PC I'd buy all my parts here. Then I price checked my builds against Micro centers home brand, power spec. The difference in price was a wash so in save the time and effort and buy their prebuilt gaming PCs now. They have a huge variety of PC,Mac,peripherals, speakers, TVs, gaming chairs, manuals, cables, printers, scanners, as well as a support desk that does break/fix. They even have masks and hand sanitizer for sale during Covid. Good sales staff as well, very knowledgeable. You can preorder online and go straight to the online pickup line inside, where they will bag your goods and ring you up. Nice big parking lot, stop by smash burger while you are there! read more

I had a MacBook that was five years old that started to have problems with its battery and keys. I tried to get an appointment at the Apple Store in Ardmore, but they had no times available, so I decided to take the computer to Micro Center where I was able to get an appointment. I went to Micro Center during the COVID-19 pandemic and they made sure that the store was clean and everyone kept 6 feet of distance. They had someone at the front of the store that gave every customer hand sanitizer, which was good to see. Once inside the store, I spoke with one of their technicians about the computer, which they diagnosed with a a battery problem. Instead of getting the battery repaired, I decided just to buy a new computer. They had plenty of Apple computers in the store and I worked with one of the sales associates to pick out a computer that would be a good fit. I ended up going with the MacBook Air, which was an improvement over my current computer. It had a better processor, two ports, touch ID, Siri and a bigger screen! It was definitely a big improvement over my current computer. Further, I also bought a warranty with Micro Center and that came with $20 off to transfer onto my new computer the old computer's data. It was definitely a big convenience! The data was transferred onto my computer in a timely manner and it was ready to be picked up the very next day. The one complaint that I had was that upon picking up my computer, I had to wait in quite a long line, but I was happy that my new computer had all of the data transferred. I also picked up a new computer case to make sure that it was nice and protected. Altogether, Micro Center sells top of the line computers and electronics with knowledge staff in a convenient location! read more

I really have to commend the associates that helped us out yesterday. I should have gotten their names, especially the first man who assisted us with evaluating my mother's computer. He had the patience of a SAINT!!! He explained things repeatedly and as transparently as he could to a 71 year old lady with limited technical knowledge. Did my entire new pc build from everything I purchased here, staff here actually have pc knowledge, it's not like a Best Buy. For people that remember it's radio shack on steroids, was pretty busy while I was there just be patient and you get excellent customer service when it's your turn. I saw some reviews complaining sales is commission based, could have fooled me as my salesman found a few items cheaper for my build that saved me a few bucks and it was the same specifications as what I originally had on my list. Was my first time at a micro center and they did not disappoint, their prices are so good I upgraded my planned gpu from rx7700 to a much better rx 7800. Where do I start? Though this place serves as an Apple care plus repair studio don't leave anything with them. They almost lost my $3000 Mac book by a dopey guy who put it down as belonging to someone else. Then he denied it! Whoever Ryan Wu is, he was the putative owner of my computer. Also They don't have a phone number. I asked how long it would take them vs apple genius and I was told "it won't take any longer" which did not make me feel secure on the least. I took my computer back and that's the last time micro center will see of me. read more

My only complaint is how they (with a postcard offer) lure me in for a free flash drive, and because I lack self control I end up spending hundreds while I'm there.
