Going to the micro center was a pleasant experience. The micro center is a huge electronic store with a vast selection of accessories and product as well. Since I recognized that feature and I knew I'd be there all day perusing the aisle searching for what I needed, so I took advantage of using the knowledge bar. Yes! They have an actual knowledge bar. The associate manning the knowledge bar instructed me to speak with the mgr named Marcus. Let's talk about Marcus. Marcus is very knowledgeable and knows his stuff, Marcus provided one on one interaction from start to finish. Showing me several options in case one product didn't fit. Marcus is a great listener, a customer service representative must have that distinct quality, that's why Marcus was able to offer alternative selections. Marcus worked hard to deliver exemplary customer service that concluded with a sale. At checkout they have a monitor that informs you of what register you are to step to. It speaks the number. How cool is that. I would say, if you need anything from A to Z that deals with high technology or electronics, the micro center is where you need to be. Actually, I would not trust anyone else with my lab top and or purchase a lab top or tools except from this store. And their computer repair area has the best qualified individuals on staff. There have been a few changes as you must make an appointment for any tech repair needs. The pricing for repairs I find a bit higher then others for example I checked the price at one popular location and it was at least $30 lower then the Micro, but I think it worth it even though the price hurts LOL Good location, and plenty of parking. read more

No waiting or mailing your device to the manufacturer. Once diagnosed, they can fix the problem on site sometimes as quickly as the next day. They explain everything in detail. There is never any pressure. Such nice people at the Westbury store. It was especially good to deal with the very affable Brian. In general their prices are good. Lovely store with lovely people EXCEPT that awful, annoying, grating chud Bart (Bartholomew). Not only would he constantly undermine anything I wanted to do or buy, he constantly pushed higher priced items and was obsessive about putting "his sticker" on it (commission I guess?). He even recommended a grey market key site for Windows 11. The best part is, all the things he recommended, except the case, completely crapped out/got us scammed. The PSU he recommended we had to return right before closing because it literally blew up on the inside. I smelt smoke. We went back to grab the brand I INITIALLY WANTED IN THE FIRST PLACE, and guess what? It worked PERFECTLY! The key site he recommended literally scammed my boy out of $30. Guess what? The key site I recommended got him a key for $6! The only thing that worked that day was the cooler. BECAUSE WE WENT BEHIND HIS BACK AND GOT AN AIR COOLER LIKE WE WANTED instead of the AIO he pushed on us (with his stupid sticker). I understand that maybe someone like Bart would be great for a first builder, but I have also been building PCs for over a decade, for myself and others, and we just wanted to be left alone. We made that pretty obvious, but he just had to put his sticker on everything. I had a terrible experience at MC today. I brought a business check. First, I was told that it would take a HALF HOUR to accept the check then it was denied after 40 minutes. No reason. I own a major company with plenty of money in the account. The managers seemed apathetic to the cause, nobody cared that I spent an hour picking out a computer. I asked them to call this 3rd party check authorization company and they told me the denial of authorization is final. I pay with a business check in many other companies. This is a recognized company in with doing 30 years of business on ny. I'm so mad that I had to abandon my cart and walk out being treated like I was trying to scam them! What the hell has happened to your tech center?? I've been buying stuff and getting service from MicroCenter for at least 12 years and up until now, I've been very happy. As a matter of fact my last 3 builds, except for the WD hds were all from your parts dept.. Service on the other hand has fallen off, a lot. My last 2 visits have been disappointing. Last Tue., 9/9 I dropped my PC off along with a WD Black 6 TB HD. The problem was that one of my game drives had failed and there was a boot issue. I received an email on the 11th giving me a diagnosis. I needed a Bios update and my drive was bad . I called on Sat., the 13th and ok'd the Bios update and told them to that the drive only had Steam files so just exchange the bad one for the replacement I dropped off. I've heard nothing until today when I called. I was told that my pc was in the service area and that nothing had been done yet. I explained that it had been there a week already and I was told point blank, that there were other repairs ahead of mine. I asked when I could expect to get my pc back and again the response was less than understanding , "Next Week". Since I was told that the issues had been diagnosed, I asked " to install a hard drive? There as silence, I then asked if my computer was apart and the answer I received was no, you can come and get it if you want. What the hell?? You guys sell computers, you know that people really depend on their computers, service should have that in mind when dealing with folks with service issues. I brought my PC in on a Tuesday to have it serviced. Their 'free consultation' was actually just an incredibly rude/snarky woman telling me that it'll be $50 for them to look at it. 10am, maybe she's still mentally asleep. Fine. I call that evening as I was assured 'same day service' and was informed it hadn't even been looked it. Call the next day and I'm told that the motherboard needed to be replaced, and that I should just buy one of their board/processor/ram bundles. There's the upsell I've read about. Fine. So I do. I then wait another 24 hours to then again have to call myself about the status. I'm told by the manager it'll be done at noon. I go in at 1pm. The gentleman working the counter proceeds to tell me they did all sorts of QA tests and driver installs and all that. Cool. Just excited to get my (finally) working PC home. I get home, plug it in, and its completely dead, and not only that, it smells like its burning. Honestly my fault for not making them boot it up at the store and just taking their word for it that it was working. So then I trek back to Micro Center for the 4th time to drop my PC off AGAIN and am told 24-48 hour turnaround. I essentially told them if they try to charge me again, I'll be getting my attorney and the BBB involved. I hope the owner/managers read this. Your staff seems absolutely miserable. Everyone in that store looked like they just moped around and took their sweet time to even acknowledge my presence let alone want to address my issues. I took my PC here because I was assured of same day service and because of the reputable name, and we're now going on Day 4, and 4 trips back and forth only for them to STILL have my PC (for a second time now) and for me to STILL be waiting for an answer (of which I'm going to have to reach out myself because even though they tell you they will reach out, they don't.) Prices for hardware are decent, so if that's all you need then you're good (as long as you don't mind just being outright ignored in the store). But do yourself a favor and avoid the 'knowledge bar' at all costs and go somewhere else. I'll update my review if they somehow decide to try and make this right by me, but to be honest, I don't see that happening. -- Update Microcenter did attempt to make this right by me so I'm upgrading my review from 1 to 3 stars. The gentleman at the counter upgraded the ram in the package I purchased to something a little better, and the reply below was nice to read. Unfortunately it doesn't make the overall experience any better, and I still don't think I'd take my PC there again for service, but as I previously said the prices are decent so if you need to just shop, its a good place to go. read more

This place used to be my favorite store to stop by for computer and electronic parts. However recently they've dropped their Quality Assurance and customer service and the store has become a mess to navigate. A lot of items are not shelved properly with boxes half opened and packages on the floor. I recently needed an emergency part to process a build for a client and both called and checked online the product was available. Both times they confirmed they had 3 in stock. I drove an hour out to the location and spent 30 mins trying to find the part with a worker. It turned out they mislabeled the part number with another item and had not updated. I didn't want to have one bad experience ruin my outlook on this place so I came back two more times and it was still messy and unorganized. I hope things get better after the pandemic. read more

This is totally a tech Heaven! I believe that this is the first MC in NY, now there are a total of 4! All the new ones are much closer than this one. I have probably been to this store 50+ times over the years. Anything, and I mean anything that you need when it comes to tech, 9/10 they probably have it. Since I have come here so many times over they years, this will be more of a general review of all my experiences rather than a specific time or 2. I purchase all my PC's from here now, and I get all my client PC's from here as well. I highly recommend their PowerSpec brand of PC's. Same parts inside, their label, 20% cheaper... Easy Choice. Staff has always been super friendly and super helpful. They really go out of their way to hire staff that has an incredible knowledge about the stuff that they are selling. Obviously everyone doesn't know everything, but if the associate helping you doesn't have an answer, they will get you an associate who does. I sometimes get their extended warranty, and it does pay off! I bought a floor model old school tablet years ago, power cord broke in it, they fixed it for me! My latest time here, a friend was getting a new PC. They were sadly scammed and they cancelled all their CC and changed all their accounts. They tried getting a new PC, but their CC denied it. MC held it for 2 days for them while they got it fixed. I will say that 8 years ago, their repair service was a tad bit slow, but I haven't used them in years. Store may seem packed, but it is always super neat and organized! If you need a PC or a part, they have some of the best prices around. All in all a wonderful store with super competitive prices. Can't say enough great things about the employees at this location- I was there this evening (01/15/24) because my month-old upgraded extruder had malfunctioned. I used the stock extruder for years, so I knew I must have gotten a defective unit if it crapped out after only a month, but the defective part required extensive disassembly to even reach the problem area of the components. Creality, of course, doesn't offer the extruder components independently, so I was not optimistic upon entering the store. However, one of the managers retrieved the original kit for me and an employee helped me disassemble the entire unit to retrieve the part that was broken on mine and allowed me to swap out the parts. I was floored, a number of other staff stopped by to see what we were doing and brought us different sizes of Alan keys/etc. I am so grateful this place exists, it helps to be able to talk to a HUMAN when you're learning about complex tech (as opposed to chatting with a customer service bot). I've had similar experiences every time I've been to this location, so I know it wasn't just a one time fluke. Thank you all, especially Reese (? Took my wife's laptop to Micro Center to repair the power port. It was quickly diagnosed and fixed after they received the part. They did not try to oversell me on anything. I had to get some data off of the computer before the part was received and the repair done and they were able to accomodate me. Micro Center is really the only place where you can find everything computer-related and reliable repair service. read more

Thousands of dollars spent in this store only to be threatened by being banned from this store by gen z employees, their milquetoast manager or supervisor, and for returning products that were defective, broken and damaged. The products are good and the older employees are great to do business with. 3/5 the products you'll buy work great and micro-center's return policy are pretty generous. If your buying products 400+ dollars and above, good idea to get their warranty policies since supposedly they'll be able to fix your product or trade in your refurbished product for another refurbished product of the same value. Then again 2/5 of the time, you'll have products breaking like a camera stand falling apart because the glue holding it together fell off, or their Asus products, like their motherboards, not turning on after building building your computer. Although with the new employees being hired, I can't say I'm liking the trajectory this particular store, and this company, is heading towards. I literally DO NOT know why this place does not have good reviews. My name is Jake and I scheduled an appointment to do a build and learn here at Microcenter in Westbury on Monday, July 30 and not only was it an absolutely amazing experience, but everyone there was crazy cool and awesome. When I arrived we headed over to the knowledge bar and he directed us to the build your own pc section. We were then greeted by Bartholomew who checked out the build that I made using Microcenter's pc builder online. We explained that we had an appointment for a build and learn so he called over the manager, Scott, who then got it all set up for us which was very kind since they didn't even have the system set up yet. Bart changed a couple things on my build and explained why he did so. After that he picked out all the pc parts and met us back at the knowledge bar. We waited for around 15 minutes until Jason, the pc builder, got here. In this time he told us the best way to clean out the pc from dust and showed us the best electric air blower and normal can of air. Bart was insanely kind and super cool during my whole experience and made everything 10x better. And not to mention how awesome it was that Scott was able to make it possible for me to do the build and learn. Throughout the whole building process I genuinely learned so much and I owe that to Jason who guided me through the whole entire process of building not only just a pc but my pc. We then booted it up and downloaded all the latest drivers necessary as well as checking to see if the BIOS was up to date. Also, while Jason was building the pc and I was being guided through it, I was with my mom. Not only did Scott, the manager, bring her a chair to sit on while we built it but she also was accommodated with water/soda and pretzels. After the build was completely finished and everything was ready Jason packed everything up for us and literally brought it outside into our car since it was too heavy for me or my mom. I went home set everything up and I literally love this pc sooo much. It runs soo well on all the games that I wanted to play. The download speeds are also insanely fast and everything about it is just amazing not only the gameplay but the looks as well. I just want to give a GIANT thanks to Bart, Scott, and Jason. This store used to be my go to store for several years for all my computer needs. However last visit there was very unpleasant. I went to purchase a SSD drive and some other accessories. The salesperson did not allow me to hold the package so I could read the specification. He held on to the package and said if I want i can read while he was holding the package. I came with my wife and my son and there were 2 other store employees next to us. The salesperson clearly mentioned that he is doing so for loss prevention, implying that i am there to steal and run . His reasoning was like a slap in my face, I tried to talk to the manager and he mention this is the store policy. I just walked out, I ill never step foot in a store where colored customers by default are seen as theives or robbers. When my old Dell XPS 15 died, I wanted to physically see a new one as well as the new XPS 13 2 in 1. Good luck finding a store on Long Island with any in stock, let alone on display. I was interested in the 13, but wasn't willing to order sight unseen from Dell. Discovered Micro Center online, and found they had both machines... and their prices were the same as Dell online! Road trip! Walked into a very large store with way more fun toys than I expected. I'll have to come back soon. Got to the laptop section, and it's loaded with choices. Found the 13 2 in 1 that I had read had a keyboard that many disliked. Well, I didn't! Writing on it now, it may be BETTER than my old XPS 15. Went through all the additional offerings with my sales guy (including discussing Indian restaurants in Hicksville), and got in line to pay. Got home and couldn't be happier. read more
