I first sent an email, and a week went by without any response. After following up, I was asked for additional model information, which I immediately provided. A week later, I was told the replacement part was not available. I then found a replacement keyboard online and asked if it would work. The answer was yes, but only if a special tool was used, and they do not have this tool. Response received: "That would work, if I had the equipment to heat mold the keyboard in. Unfortunately, the keyboard is attached with melted plastic, not screws, so it requires special equipment. I would need the entire palmrest/upper case to do the repair." Communication was slow, and there was little expressed interest in completing the repair I need.. ASUS has also not been helpful. The result is that I have a 2-year-old laptop that is close to unusable because of a non-functioning "E".

As I write this it is 1/23/2017 over three months later. I have my macbook back but it is barely functional. They told me I could purchase a new motherboard and I did so. About 2 months later the new motherboard was installed. About 1 week after the installation the new motherboard failed and the computer would not turn on. I took it back to mactec and they told me their parts should be under warranty. They have since changed their story and told me their parts may or may not be under warranty and that they are "working" on getting the new motherboard repaired/replaced. Without discussing with me, they attempted a "refurbishment" of the old motherboard, gave the computer back to me with the old water damaged motherboard installed, and told me this was what they were able to do to resolve my situation. This is after paying them over $1,300 in repair costs. I order product "A" and they give me product "B". To make matters worse, the old motherboard that was inserted into the machine in a desperate attempt to resolve the situation, showed signs of failure a day after I took it home. I am still working with them to come to an amicable solution, if they manage to repair or replace my new motherboard I will update and edit this review. 3/7/2017 Review Update: The issue has come to an amicable solution and I am very grateful that Mactek worked very hard to make this issue right. I appreciate the followthrough and commitment to good customer service and honest business. Glad to come to a solution with these folks. On top of this, the owner or manager of the company offered to put a used processor out of his own personal computer that is several years old into our computer... And to complete my great service with this company, the screen is still broken and the cooling fans were never actually replaced, it still has the old fans inside it after taking the laptop apart myself. Do NOT go to this company, just buy a new computer... I spent $650 on this repair and could have boughten a new laptop of same version or slightly newer for just a couple hundred dollars more. Also, our repair took over two months!!! This company Sucks!
