The plan was to check in after the show, around midnight. Due to the late check in time, I called the hotel a couple of days beforehand to make sure that there wouldn't be a problem. The person I spoke with assured me that it was fine. When I arrived at the hotel, a family was having a heated argument with the desk clerk. Apparently there was an issue cleaning their room - and mine as I was about to find out - so the manager (who wasn't there) had cancelled our bookings without notifying us! The clerk explained that they didn't have our contact info because we'd used third party reservation sites. This all sounded very suspicious. For starters, why was it that the people who checked in last had the issues? The answer was simple: hotels don't make much profit on bookings made through third party sites, so the hotel gave our rooms to people without reservations who were willing to pay more for the rooms. Making matters worse, the clerk would not offer any help whatsoever. We had to find another hotel in the middle of the night! When I got back home I checked my credit card and the cost of the room was not credited; the hotel took my money in addition to whatever the person(s) who got my room that night paid.

They went above and beyond by getting us ice for our softball games and providing bottles of water before we headed out. That extra level of kindness and customer service really made a lasting impression. The room itself needed care, and has largely gone un-updated since the 90s. And the "included breakfast" is two cereal options, instant oatmeal, and prepackaged pastries. There was a $50 room security deposit which is paid via cash or card and is refunded after the room is inspected on your last visit. However it wasn't initially made clear to me that's what it was and I needed clarification from another desk clerk. I think for myself I would pay a bit more per night and stay somewhere else.

The smoke detector was missing from the ceiling in the other room, paint were missing from the wall and the bathtub were back at every edges it had inside on and around the mat and the edges of tub. When I paid for the room they asked me $50 deposit, however I should've asked for deposit from them, not to get infected by the morning I wake up. Everyone did not see it as soon as they came in but once they did venture outside, no one wanted to come back in. Good thing the program part of the banquet was already over. We took wonderful pictures. The fire pit was lit, and everyone just wanted to stay for as long as possible. I only wish we could have stayed past 10. The only downside was the A/V. Strolled down to the restaurant here at the hotel and ordered me a steak salad. About 15 minutes later out came the salad. Up to the room I went. Open the salad container and found an abundance of salad and a decent amount of steak. They didn't ask me how I wanted the steak, but it came medium to medium well. That's fine. You get a ton of salad and about eight strips of steak. Just what the doctor ordered! Everything about the salad was good. You get a choice of five different dressings. I went with the Italian dressing. It wasn't over the top tangy, I found it to be just right.
