I can tell this location was remodeled and is actually very nice. Rooms are clean and spacious. Large tv is nice. In room coffee is not great but will work. Main entrance is far from the elevators, but there is parking in the rear which is close to them. I was comfortable during my trip with no real complaints. read more

Not sure if it's in a good area but good that it's near food places. Also around just half an hour away from Niagara. The hotel is under reno so there's currently, uhm, let's just say "construction" smell (rating not based on this). Nice gym and pool would have been perfect if maintained (fallen leaves stay on the outdoor pool which goes through the indoor pool). Nothing special about the breakfast. Front lady was friendly and accommodating. CVS vendo machine has diapers, creams, OTC medicines although no pantiliners (LOL). Complimentary coffee and water available 24/7. Rating just because you'd expect so much more for the hotel brand. Hopefully, more updates after the reno because the "welcome" space looks like it badly needed an upgrade. read more

This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. The Aquafina waters are $3.50 each, there is no free breakfast, stains on the carpets, hair on the ceiling in the bathroom, and someone was vacuuming outside my door at 7:00 am. If you want clean towels you have to carry them down to the front to swap for new ones. The pool was closed for maintenance also. If Ryan Trahan did a video here there is no way he could rate this place anywhere even close to 5 stars. So bad. 1 star, I wish I could put zero. read more

The staff at this hotel go above and beyond. From the ladies in the W club refilling and cleaning, to the sweet Elizabeth that brought my extra blanket, to Sagal at the front desk who willingly "policed" the youth hockey team outside our room I couldn't ask for better customer service. The suite was spacious - couch a little hard and wish there was A/C in the bedroom- but not complaining. If we are ever out this way again I'd definitely stay. read more

Likes: 1. I stayed in 122 (1st floor) and I have access to the yard, the room is high ceiling so looks more spacious. 2. They have gym and pool. 3. Inside the hotel, there's a small shop selling snacks and drinks, which most hotels have it, but they have plenty options of drinks. (Not sure about the price) Dislikes: 1. My room is right by the elevator and I can hear Everything. When I take bath in the bathroom and people walks by or talking, it sounds like they are in my room, I'm taking bath on the hotel walkway. 2. I think they should have hairdryer in every room but I don't so I call front desk, no one pick up the phone. Received a gift certificate from a benefit we attended so we decided it was a perfect time to try out the Marriott and make it date night. We haven't been here in a few years so we wanted to see what has changed. The lobby was the same but different. They opened up the walls and showcased the bar area. A nice touch since the area is a college town. But it was really just a nice area for the hotel guests to enjoy some food and drinks. Check in was a breeze and when we called to reserve the room we weren't sure if we could use the gift certificate because the woman said she will note our account. We were golden and off to the room we went. They have added a game room and a nice little coffee shop that also sold UB clothing. Our room was an updated room since we last stayed here. Rooms were clean and quiet. It was a great stay. We needed to rest after a movie and dinner with drinks. Breakfast was at the hotel restaurant, It was Sunday so they had a buffet and food off the menu. We chose the buffet. A little pricey, it was nothing special. Usual eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage and I think it was French toast. Fruit was nice but not enough. Each fruit had their own bowl but some of the fruit was low and looked a bit sketchy. Right now they are doing renovations and it's very very loud and sounds like a sledgehammer form 8 am to 6 pm. Plus all the construction people are using the regular elevators so u stop every floor and they are full with the workers and all of their supplies going up and down which is holding up the elevators all day. The manager of this hotel was a total stooge. Everyone else in this hotel including the bar staff as great but the manager made me want to never stay here again. I was able to check in at 10am but the front desk were more worried about talking about other things than helping me as I stood there. Room is extremely small and for a basic breakfast of coffee, juice and cereal for 10 dollars. We had reserved a little room on the second floor for the parents to gather and at 11 a worker came around and told us it was time for everyone to go to bed. We were not disturbing anyone but asked to leave. The hotel must want the noise of conversations to be in the hall. I received my bill and the water that is placed on the desk which looks to be complimentary is all but. The little bottle of Fiji water cost 4 dollars, but it's interesting that there is nothing that states a fee for the water when in the room. I really do not recommend this hotel. read more

My one word review is disappointing. Stayed here for my wife's residency week at University at Buffalo. It was her third time there and my first. Since her first two stays they have suspended shuttle service and done away with coin laundry onsite. We requested the shuttle from the airport, which they politely informed me was no longer in service. I later found it parked in the hotel parking lot with a flat tire. Not having coin laundry was inconvenient, but acceptable. In my 3rd day there we stayed in the room a bit later in the morning, and I knew the maids were cleaning, so upon leaving I politely requested cleaning services for our room. I returned at about 5pm seeing that my room had not been serviced. I had also left tips for the cleaning service the two days prior. I requested that the room be serviced when I went to dinner but the front desk informed me that cleaning staff were gone for the evening. Let's see what else can I say of this dreadful establishment....they have a chai and tea/coffee station downstairs along with the one microwave in the entire building. The chai and coffee station is over run with insects and fruit flies. Fruit and snacks are available for purchase nearby at high prices. There are mini fridges in the rooms which are a nice feature but they are crammed inside small cabinets and will overheat leading to failure and spoiled food. Some rooms have been recently renovated. Trim work and paint will not likely last til years end without the grace of the good Lord as it has been poorly done. Overall, my stay here can be described as short of reasonable expectations. I hope they improve. Staff onsite seemed polite and helpful yet lacking in leadership. read more

The staff are very pleasant and accommodating we recognized several who have worked there for years ! Our complaint was the room we stayed in! It had a terrible Odor from pets as well as hair flying around every time the air conditioning turned on ! After the rug dried from an attempt to mask Odor , pet hair was visible in carpet ! My wife picked up a clump near the bed ! Hair and Odor was also noticeable in Hallway! We were very disappointed as we have visited this Hotel for years and treated family members to stays & meals ! We are also Time Share owners & Marriott rewards members as we always enjoy Marriott properties because of their high standards ! A suggestion would be to have floors & rooms designated for pet owners or build a kennel !Just as cigarettes , people also have allergies to animal hair & dander , I happen to be one ! The least a hotel could do is ask a guest if they are comfortable staying in a room that has had pets ! We would have declined the room ! We are not against pets and understand how people and families love their pets that's fine we are not comfortable with pet hair & pet odor ! One such pet hadn't had a bath in a very long time which turned our stomach as it made its way into the concierge room with its owner for food & drink , we decided against going in and took our business to a local establishment! I'm sorry for this review but just a warning to those who might not like hair & odor in their room ! Meh. The hotel is a standard full service Marriott but definitely on the lower end. Could use a refresh. Stayed here because I had a free night certificate (category 3) and seemed like the best option near Niagara (to be clear it is not that close). Room was ok, pretty standard. Fire alarm went off twice so had to go down 10 flights of stairs both times. Concierge lounge is closed but gave free breakfast. The restaurant us really limited. You can have either eggs or eggs. Can't remember a worse Marriott restaurant and I stay at a ton of Marriotts. Oh and plastic silverware. I guess it was free so oh well. Can't recommend but not horrible. read more

Fruit flies. Plenty of them. All over the hotel it seems. I've now stayed as a guest. I won't be back unless the price is right. Checkin was confusing. Perhaps she was being trained, not sure. But not smooth. Room is big and reasonably nice, but has fruit flies. Like the lobby (checking-in) and the grill and the gym. So presumably everywhere else. I don't know how you solve that actually, but I'm sure it's possible. TVs are large but not wall mounted. Odd. They are just upgrading to digital here so you may or may not benefit from that. Plenty of cable channels. Fridge in room. No coffee though. This hotel is outdated. Especially for its price-point. Lower end hotels have USB ports these days, why don't you? But the bed was awesome and the bath towels terrific. That's what got them the 3rd star. My thoughts are Marriott may sell this place soon. To a lower level chain. Either that or they have to really renovate and upgrade. Since it seems they are upgrading the TVs perhaps that's the way they are going. But it needs a real overhaul to get it out of the 1990s. Housekeeping bang down my door three times before check out while I had the sleeping sign on the door. Scheduled 5:30 PM van time which the van was there and I was standing right next to it at arms length and he just left me., causing me to be late for my flight. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and have all of the little things that every decent hotel should have (soap,shampoo,iron,ironing board,coffee). This place is horrible. We tried to check in and the front desk clerk was rude and snappish. Went to the room and found all the extras we asked through the bonvoy app were not provided. Went down to the front desk and they said they don't use the app. Ok but there's no way to know that on the app. So they did provide what I asked for. We came down for breakfast and found out that it's extra. Ok. We went to the restaurant and waited for a while and a server came up and tried to help us. Then another server came up and asked where the hostess was and decided she must have quit. They were so rude!! The girl was in the bathroom! The toilets were stopped up. This hotel is beautiful! Very luxurious feel. Upon entering there is a large bar to the left with plenty of seats and tables, very inviting. Lobby area like usual again with plenty of seating, 24 hour fitness center, indoor AND outdoor pools and restaurant. There is a gift/snack job and a coffee bar that serves and array of Starbucks beverages and baked goods. The barista was SUPER nice each time I visited and the customer service/maintenance crew were kind and helpful as well. I stayed in a room with a King size bed. The room was very spacious with comfortable bedding, big desk, television and love seat. There was an ironing board, iron and hair dryer. The bathroom was huge, but wish that there was a fridge in the room. Only reason why I am not giving this hotel five stars is because of the floor plan. The main entrance is located right in through the front doors but the elevators are located in the WAY WAY WAY back of the hotel! It actually doesn't make sense to me and was pretty inconvenient because of how many trips back and forth I was taking to and from my car. Quite a hike.... Oh, and how could I forget! I will preface this review by saying that I haven't actually stayed here, but have visited on a number of occasions for various conventions and meetings. I remember the days of actually being a student at UB, and I can remember this hotel not being anything special. But since that time there have been significant improvement to the building and facilities. I have been quite impressed with the dining area downstairs, and it is nice to have a starbucks on campus. The bathrooms on the main floor near the conference rooms are large, clean, and pleasant to step into. Everything has been tastefully updated, and the size of the venue makes it perfect for large events like the Buffalo ComiCon. The pool areas are nice, though I have to admit, I have mixed emotions about smelling chlorine upon entering the main foyer. It smells clean, but there's no mistaking the pool is right there.... and also, I'm not a huge fan of seeing guests meandering around in their bathing suits. If I ever actually needed a place to stay while in Buffalo (I've got too many friends and family here to actually need this) I would definitely consider staying here. read more

My stay here was pleasant. I checked in easily without any problems and the receptionist was friendly. It is a bit of a long walk from the front lobby to the elevators. However, if you park in the back of the hotel the door back there leads you straight to the elevators. The king suite is spacious and clean with a big tv. However, the fridge wasn't very cold and the bathroom is quite small compared to other hotels. The water pressure in the shower is amazing though. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and had a good night's sleep during the two nights here. All of the staff I encountered were nice and greeted me when I walked by. While checking in, one of the staff members at the front desk(Bill), was incredibly rude and condescending. I was using a company card using a new process, which I explained, where authorization is sent to the hotel via an app. He basically ignored my explanation that this was a new process as I tried to troubleshoot why they hadn't received the authorization and just patronizingly kept saying that my company should have authorized this before. Thankfully another staff member at the front desk stepped in to help, giving me the correct email address to the hotel front desk to send the authorization via the app. Once authorization had gone through there was no apology for his rude behavior, he simply told me the wifi information and when I could buy breakfast at their restaurant. I honestly wouldn't have minded using my personal credit card for the stay if the company card process didn't work, but Bill's attitude was something that stayed in my mind for a while. The only reason I didn't move hotels was my wife was tired and the front desk clerk was accomadating. Denise was very nice and moved us away from the "hallway hockey" game going on next to our room. Not kidding, they had nets setup and sticks. She had to ask the drinking parents in the meal area to take care of their stupid children on both floors 3 and 4. 4 beer slurping "parents" had to get off their butts and tell their kids to get in their rooms. The first room we had the hotel towels were gross had small curly's on them. Denise brought us a clean bundle and took the ones that were there. After the room move, we went to shower and the new rooms towels had hair on them as well! We called Denise again and she brought us more towels. I would have left but it was getting late. The floors were dirty. Dont look behind the headboard. You will freak out. Dont stay here, go downtown. Marriot should be ashamed to have its name on this place. read more

This hotel needed updating 10 years ago. Not clean, stains on the furniture, no housekeeping, hallways smelled like a bad fast food restaurant. The most discouraging aspect of all was the human trafficking hotline placard that welcomed us when we first entered the room. Such a nice added touch to ones stay that makes you want to rush back to this establishment. I could go on and on about how run down this hotel is, but not worth the effort. DO NOT STAY HERE. WORST EXPERIENCE. I honestly can overlook a lot of their negatives including run down building, old smell, beat up furniture, and the fact that their lobby is not connected to the building with the rooms in it...however I CANNOT forgive a charge on my bill that no one could fix for one month. I got my bill for the one night that I PRE-PAID. On my bill, there was a credit for the prepaid amount and a charge of $50. (No specific reason why there was a charge). When I was checking out, I went all the way to the lobby (which again is a different building) and asked why I was charged, the front desk girl got very flustered (obviously lacking in training) and said she doesn't deal with that and that I have to call reservations. This is where it gets SUPER annoying. They will bounce you from department to department. (Warning: Only read if you are rly bored) I called the number the front desk gave me and got sent to a voicemail. (because no one that works here picks up the phone ever). The 'reservation' department girl named Terry calls me back. She first states I need to call accounting department and so I hang up and call accounting but no one picks up of course. Later that week, Terry calls me and leaves a voicemail stating that she took care of the charge of $50 and that I should see a credit and that she is sorry. So, at this point, I am happy and forget about the thing. However, I keep the voicemail stating she took care of it just in case. (I had a bad feeling) So ONE month later, I still see no credit. I call Terry and remind her what she said and she literally states that she NEVER called me and she doesn't do 'credits' and she only does reservations. (Remind you, I have the voicemail saved and the voice on the voicemail is her) I keep telling her I have a voicemail from her and she denies everything. She says she never deals with this kind of stuff. She states I must have talked to accounting. She doesn't even listen to what I am saying: she just straight up denies having ever talked to me. She keeps saying I must have talked to the accounting department. (are you deaf lady?) I have never heard a human voice from their accounting department, so she is obviously trippin'. I am so pissed because I've had to call their dumb hotel like a million times with no resolution and incompetent staff EVERYWHERE. Nothing was getting done so, I leave an angry email at marriott customer service. I state facts and also the fact that I am a gold member. All marriott did was bounce my email to the accounting department of the hotel. (are you kidding me? I can do that myself, thanks) FINALLY, the accounting department girl leaves me an email and phone call stating that she took care of it. (with no apologies AT ALL) Oh yeah? You 'took care of it'. Well let's see if that really means that I'll ever see that $50 again or yall are bunch of phonies pissing customers off left and right. I honestly think I will never see that money again. (just checked my credit card that she said it went back on and I don't see it in pending) Marriott pissed me off so much with this incident, I vowed to never stay at a marriott again. (after I use up all the points that is) And if a marriott rep happens to read this, please fix this stupid hotel and don't OVERCHARGE a loyal customer who spent 60 nights this year at a marriott property, thanks. My girlfriend and I had a great NYE night here! I was a little bit skeptical because of some bad Yelp reviews, but my lady found a good online deal and the Marriott has a pool! Pulling up to the place, I was very impressed with the interior. Modern furniture and very clean. The bar and restaurant were hopping, probably because of NYE. The front-desk woman was so sweet. I didn't get her name, but she was middle-aged and had long, brown hair. Our check-in was smooth and efficient. Now, the building itself is kind of weird. The lobby is in a separate building from the rooms, which translates into a longer walk but it's all connected inside. This is to accommodate several banquet or party rooms which were being utilized by a wedding on the night we were there. This long walk sucks when you have a lot of stuff. Our room was very nice as well. Very clean with again, modern furniture. Bathroom was above average and the toiletries looked very cute. Didn't try the shower so can't comment on that. Bed was average. Only thing that was weird was the TV looked really old. Not mounted to the wall and one of those old ones you used to keep in a TV cabinet. We also had a blast in the pool. It looks old, but it gets the job done. Only reason for 4 stars instead of five was when we tried calling the front desk, we got no answer. We also heard the maids cleaning for much of the night. I was also very annoyed that we got a knock on the door at 11am the next morning. Check-out time was noon and we shouldn't have been disturbed for cleaning purposes since we were only staying one night. Despite a few kinks in our stay, it was very pleasant and if I can get a good deal online, I will definitely stay here again. read more

I have Marriott Platinum Premiere Elite + Ambassador status, so I know a lot about Marriott Hotels and how they operate. This hotel was difficult to contact (it took a few tries to even get through to them: I swear the person at the front desk picked up the phone and simply hung up...) and then was totally unhelpful, insisting that they somehow didn't know what kind of mattress they used (I know this isn't how it works: there are three mattresses that are listed in their brand compliance manual). I was transferred to housekeeping multiple times, who neither answered the phone nor returned my call. Finally, when it seemed like there was no way to figure out this information from them (which is the first Marriott hotel I have gotten this from out of probably a hundred hotels I have asked this question over the years), they refused to just cancel the reservation I had made just the night before (while trying to figure this information out from them). There is a Residence Inn essentially across the street from this hotel with employees who not only answered the phone but actually knew off the top of their head the answers to basic questions. My colleagues and I are got in at 11pm after several repeat phone calls to the hotel for a airport pick up. Upon arriving we check in and headed down to the bar for dinner and drinks. Service was lacking although not many guest were in there and they served a limited menu. We went back to our rooms to rest in the 10th floor which is the top floor reserved for Marriott rewards members. In the early morning, we were jolted up with the sounds of drilling, clanging, pounding, and my room vibrating from the construction they are doing on the roof!!!! Called guest services and was told they were having work done on the roof!!! I mention that we are on the 10th floor and the person I spoke to transfers me to the front desk in which I get the respond, "you will be checking out in a few hours" "the work should be done soon" I was in shock by the response!!!! If they knew about the work being done on the roof, Why would they assign guest to the top floor!!!! Also wait until after check out before starting on any work!!!!
