I dropped my vacuum off to be looked at. they said they would call me. it has been a week. I called them today. they said they haven't looked at it. They are moving it ahead of the supposed 4 other vacuums ahead of mine and will call me on Monday, which will be 10 days. Any parts will take a week to get and another week to fix. I have been here multiple times for both our Beam central vacuum and our Miele canister vacuum. I took in my broken Miele powerhead this week that I tried to fix and put back together. He had the part in stock that was broken on it that I tried to fix and asked if I had a few spare minutes. Within 15 minutes, he brought it out repaired, and it saved me another hour round trip to come back to get it. The cost was $30. I was going to order a new powerhead and it would have cost me $330! One of the associates sold my wife the wrong size vacuum bags for the Kirby. Yes it has been over 30 days. She did not have the receipt but kindly found the transaction from her debit card and showed the owner. He refused to exchange them. She purchased the proper bags. So due to lack of training and the owner being a complete ASSHOLE about it, all future bags will be purchased elsewhere and the word will be spread like wildflowers. Good luck Asshole! read more

Unfortunately, they had my vacuum for about a month, lost my vacuum, kept telling me every week when I called it, it would be done and it wasn't. And then, when I called to see if it was done, they couldn't find my vacuum, or my work order number. Another unfortunate part was that we wanted to buy another vacuum, but a stick vacuum that was cordless. Because of our experience, we decided not to purchase a vacuum from them because if it needed service, we didn't want to go through the same issues. read more

Now that I am 25 years removed from living at home I finally bought a vacuum that will last just like mom and dad did back in the day. You get what you pay for from big box retailers. Having gone through devils, hoovs, sharks, and balls, I went into Mid America Vacuum. They were very knowledgeable and have been in business in Crystal Lake for ever. PLEASE, do not shop for a Vacuum here if you are looking for a big box deal. These units will cost a minimum 2 hundo. I spent close to 3. I needed a vac to spot vac in between the weeks the house keeper doesn't come over. Very pleased with the vac I got. I will not ever need to buy another. I bought a Sanitaire canister in 2007. It needs a new hose and I'm happy to see the store is still open. Crystal Lake is 10 minutes from my house. Very disappointed with my last experience with Mid America Vacuum Center in Crystal Lake. When we bought our home we replaced the existing central vacuum system with a brand new Beam system, for a cost of around $1200-$1500 (I don't remember the exact cost). We purchased the entire system from Mid America Vacuum and had them install it. Over the years, we have bought a few other attachments and replacement parts from them, so I am what I would consider to be a long term loyal customer who has spent a significant amount of money at their business. We called them a few months ago because the beater bar carpet attachment would not run when we hooked it up. They told us it was probably the handle on the hose and told us to bring the hose in. So we put it in a bag and took it in. They ended up replacing the handle with a "dolphin" handle which I do not like at all, and they did the work without getting approval first. They called and said it was ready so my husband picked it up and paid over $100 for the "repair" and replacement handle. My stepson (who would not notice a snake right in front of him unless it bit him) took the hose out of the bag and immediately said "this is not our hose". My husband and I both looked at it and we KNOW this is not our hose. It is a much cheaper quality than the upgraded hose we had, it kinks up when you are using it, it was flattened out in several areas and it was DIRTY like it had been kept in a garage or a basement. I can guarantee you that this disgusting hose did not come out of my house! Our immediate thought was that they mixed our hose up with someone else's. My husband took it back to the store and they refused to do anything to rectify the problem and kept telling him that he must be mistaken. They tried to tell him they never even took it out of the bag. Then how did they do the repair? They told him they also noticed how dirty it was. How can that be if they never took it out of the bag? We are certain that they mixed it up with another customer's hose and gave our hose to that customer by mistake but refused to admit it. That customer is not going to come back and tell them that they replaced his dirty disgusting hose with a clean one of much better quality. So essentially, we paid them $100 to replace our high quality hose with a dirty piece of junk and a handle that I didn't pick out and then refused to even try to resolve the problem. Just stood there telling my husband again and again that he "must be mistaken". Didn't so much as offer a discount on the purchase of a new hose to replace the piece of junk I don't even want to have in my house. And now today, the switch on that new dolphin handle we had to pay for stopped working. You flip it right or left and nothing happens. We had to pull the hose out of the wall to shut it off. I'm guessing that's not good for the vacuum system. read more
