I called to see if they could fix my Samsung Dryer which wasn't turning. I talked to Mike who offered to stop right over. Since I couldn't do any more laundry, I was happy he had the time right away. He quoted me a price & stuck to his estimate when he was done. I think he went above what he said he'd do and really gave the dryer a complete tune up with a few extra replacement parts and a through cleaning. Our refrigerator was not cooling as it should and after several of self adjustments, I called S & S. I was fearing the worst as we had had the fridge for a few years and it appeared to have several issues. I picked S & S after researching several on Angie's list and calling a few. I actually had an appointment with another company that I later canceled after talking with S & S. What I liked about S & S, every other one I called in the area treated my call like a transaction, What seemed as excessive "fixed, to come out charge" that did not apply to the repair and "we'll get there on our schedule." I understand this is a business and I am not the only client but I also expect not to be treated or told as much. S & S had a much lower "visit fee" that FULLY applied to any repair if necessary. Also handled the schedule of the visit with tact and cooperative spirit. Also, I think the company is a family run, employee owned business so there is more vested interest in the customer. Mike came out and was prompt, informative and attentive to the problems. He re-adjusted the door that was not sealing correctly due to poor workmanship at the factory. Mike fixed and explained control settings and had suggestions on their use. He also adjusted the pitch so the door closes on its own if a not so attentive visitor left it open. (This I know is a basic thing [admittedly, I did not think of] that should have been done when it was installed....thanks company that rhymes with "TEARS") The pricing was much more fair then others in the area and my one visit charge covered everything. Mike also made a follow up visit after I had a concern at no additional charge that ended up being another suggestion and recommendation to me on use. My only regret is that it took so long for me to leave this review. My apologizes to Mike and anyone behind the scenes. What reminded me is a neighbor asking me for a recommendation. I have referred them in the past but just realized there were no reviews here which is a shame. Don't need to pay for those other lists to find great services. read more

Kudos to Mike! He's very nice and knows his stuff. After shying away from the company that LG suggested, due to bad reviews, and having several appliance repair companies tell me that they did not repair LG refrigerators because they couldn't get parts (not true... LG parts are easily obtained on the internet), I called S&S. He showed up within 2 hours, correctly diagnosed the problem (blown fuse on the control board, which is common for this model) and fixed it in a few minutes by bypassing the fuse with a little soldering on the board - no parts needed! The charge was reasonable and I was able to save most of my food! read more

I can't really respond to whether Mike knows how to repair an appliance. We never got that far. I called to see about getting a GE beverage center repaired. From the way the fridge was making a buzzing sound and then no longer cooling, I pretty much knew it was the compressor and mentioned this in my message. Mike came out and plugged the unit in, waited 10 minutes and then told me that it was the compressor. He then told me that he does not repair compressors and charged $65 for the visit. I wish Mike had just told me on the phone that if it was compressor related, he can't help and save me the cost of having him come out. My only comment is to make sure that if you have some idea what might be wrong with your appliance, make sure he lets you know it's something he can repair. As a side note, I did call GE and the service tech told me that in good conscience he couldn't see coming out and charging me a service call just to let me know that it would be too cost prohibitive to repair the fridge. At least he was honest. read more
