Procedures and findings are explained. However one small adjustment. This office does not accept VSP insurance although the attached glasses place (which has always been closed when I am there) does. If this office does the refraction there is an added $60 charge to your co pay. Hubby needed glasses, we thought, for his drivers test. The adjacent glasses place with limited hours, was closed. So we agreed to the refraction. Unfortunately the refraction was done BEFORE my husband was examined by the doctor. When my husband was examined, the doctor was surprised my husband could not pass the vision test but did say hubby had a cataract that if removed would greatly improve his vision. So the reason for 4 stars instead of 5, is that it seems more logical not to do the refraction until AFTER you have been seen by the doctor. The doctor is very thorough and will see if there are other problems. Essentially the $60 refraction fee is a waste of money because the prescription will be useless when he gets the surgery. And certainly no sense in buying glasses at this time. My advice. Be seen by the doctor before you pay out of pocket for things not covered by insurance he doesnt accept like VSP.

Best eye doc in Columbus. Had to research to find him. Recommended by Alcon. Progressive,…read morepersonable, empathetic, perfectionist -- uses the newest equipment. This is truly the best care and results you will get in this City. If you can afford it, upgrade to laser, ORA, and Pan OPtix (for cataract). I called everywhere, but no one at the medical school even knew what I was asking for. I would have traveled to the Cleveland Clinic if I had not found Dr. Mack because I always look for the most up to date doctor I can find.

Havener isn't the type of place you call to get glasses or an updated eye glass prescription... its…read morewhere you go when you have eye disease or an eye injury. I saw one of their neurologists today to help figure out why my eyes keep blurring out and having shadowed double vision. If you need a doctor like this be prepared to wait for the appointment. Fiften years ago there were only maybe a dozen to twenty eye neurologists in the USA. There are more now but not that many... so the fact that we have three on staff here is incredibly fortunate. The fact that the two I have had care for my vision are empathetic as well as thoroughly skilled is just beyond amazing luck. On the day of your appt charge your phone or bring something to occupy yourself. There can be a lot of waiting... this is normal! Why??? Their patients all have complex issues and the doctors will take as much time to thoroughly try to solve each one. One by one.... That can back up the flow. Just realize when its you in that room... they will give you 100% of their attention. They will come in fully prepared (meaning they have read your chart thoroughly prior to seeing you) and will ask you as many questions to get to the root of the problem and you will leave with an action plan and answers. Its productive. You are in good hands here.
